For the location, this is a very good deal. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful and the fresh coffee is a welcome touch. The room we were given was dark and dated, but clean and served our purposes. The “resort fee” due at check-in was annoying, but you do get access to beach towels and boogie boards during your stay. All in all, this is a good choice for those not planning to spend much time in their room.

I stayed here for the 2nd time over Valentine's weekend in the 3rd floor Queen bedroom with my boyfriend and was not disappointed. We were met with very friendly staff, a clean room, no muggy smell, and cold AC. Location is very good as it is less then a 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to STIX dining hall. Although the price was upscaled for the holiday weekend it was still decently priced. One of the better options for affordable hotels in Waikiki. The only thing keeping me back from 5 stars are the curtains in the room. The 3rd floor is located right across housing with lights constantly on and since the curtains weren't blackout our room looked like it was always morning. There are also dumpster and construction noises in the morning but I heard you can get earplugs at the counter if you're a light sleeper. There are no tooth brushes available so you would have to buy some from ABC. This hotel is environment conscious which is great. They have sensitive-skin friendly soap and lotion if you ask at the counter. Overall, would come again. Great atmosphere and there are several services available if you ask at the front desk.

Nice hotel, staying here the 2nd time. But unable to fully close the water in my shower, and it keeps running all night, creating a constant noise. if you are alone, skip the double single beds. For just $10 more per night, the queen size bed is a much better option—more space and way more comfortable. Worth the upgrade

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and the room service is amazing. We left our rooms at different times and every night we walk in, the room was cleaned and beds were made. The location is VERY convenient. You can walk over to the beach, ABC store beside you, and Waikiki stores on either side. For the price of the hotel, we’re very happy for what we got. The staff was very nice! Karaoke every night, beach equipment rentals like towels, snorkels and masks, coffee in the morning, filtered water are all included!

Google
The rooms are more like a prison or dorm room with the loudest A/C imaginable. For a little more you can do much better. It was clean, but it's very rundown and needs to be razed to the ground and built again. The pictures make it look much nicer than it really is in person. I would not stay there again.

Google
Positive: Amazing location! Walking distance to everything, super nice staff, free laundry, and free coffee and snacks in the lobby. The room had a fridge, coffee maker, and a microwave. They also had an iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. Negative: The only negative was that their elevator is wonky! You have to press door close before pressing the floor button, and if it stops on any other floor it will forget where it was going and you'll have to press your floor again after the door closes.

Very good service from Toshi at the front desk. If I needed something printed, or if I needed a taxi or recommendations. He was very accommodating and on the dot. The assistant manager with the HPU jacket also lead by example with good customer service. Location is excellent for Waikiki. It doesn't get much better. Great budget hotel. Very minor things like the credit card scanner on the vending machine doesn't work, no ceiling lights, but otherwise an excellent choice for a budget stay in Waikiki.

It was fine. I may have had an “updated room”on the 7th floor. The toilet made a very loud ringing noise when I flushed and at random times throughout the day lol. My bathroom was also not the cleanest, and I found a roach trap behind the dresser (better than letting them roam I suppose 😂😂) There’s lots of construction in that area , and a bar on the first floor so if you’re Looking for somewhere super quiet I probably wouldn’t recommend. Housekeeping changed my sheets & towels everyday, and folded my “brought from home” blanket very nicely on the bed (mahalo for that <3)

Yelp
First off, the pictures on the website wasn't even remotely close to what it was. The room was very small. The beds was a bit uncomfortable and the shower was small. I did love the fact they had installed on the shower walls dial shampoo and body wash. Staff was friendly and overall it was ok. Would i stay here again ? Not sure. Another thing to consider. They dont accept Debit cards to hold your reservation. They allowed me this one time courtesy but next time i need a major credit card.

Martina S.

Yelp
To be fair this is a decent but run down place with great service and perks. Basically you get what you pay for with great service. The rooms are pretty small when we entered the bathroom I freaked out because I couldn't find the shower, then realized it was a tiny nook behind the door. The rooms are old with old furniture. But the perk you get a fridge and a microwave. The draw back they have these tempered glass all on the side wall by the bed and in the bathroom which made me a bit uneasy. We also found a lizard and cockroach and another insect. So if you want basic place for as cheap as they get this place will do. To give them credit they cleaned the room every single day without us requesting cleaning. They also put roach traps in our room without us having to complain to the management. They offer coffee, tea and snacks daily from 5 am till 7pm They also offer beach supplies like towels and floaties and more. They also have vending machine downstairs and a water filter where you can refill your water bottle. Another con was the loud noises at night from the bar and the day from the construction site and the next door hotel who's staff is on strike so they woke us up at 7:15 am every morning with their megaphone screaming and singing and drums. It was not a comfortable stay but it was ok given how low cost this place is compared to its counterparts. Also you are right by the beach and by the best food spots

Michael M.

Yelp
Love this place. The location is great. Beach is across the street. The staff is incredible. Friendly people. Every one makes me feel like I am home. Coffee tea daily newspaper. Always greeted warmly. Clean and comfortable rooms. Laundry machines are available to you. The only place for me. Mahalo nui loa to all.

Yelp
This is my second time staying here, but I think this wasn't as pleasurable as the last one. This time I got one of the interior room which almost has no window (small frosted one). It was kind of dark and depressing. I know I wasn't there to stay in my room. But rooms facing front are better. Location is still amazing, in couple minutes walk, you'll be at the heart of Waikiki Beach. Another problem was that there is a giant construction going on right behind the hotel and it's constantly making noise during the daytime. And I expect this construction to continue most of the 2025. Otherwise hotel is clean, staff is very friendly, and location is good. I enjoy the free coffee all day long. Make sure you don't get second floor because there is a club on first floor and it's very noisy, I suggest third floor or higher. Also, hotel needs significant maintenance because carpets are stained, lift was hardly working. Overall, it's good for a couple of days staying, but not long-term. They have parking, but I think it's expensive.

Yelp
This is a nice little place. Luxury it is not if you want luxury go next door at the HYATT. Older but clean. 1 block walk to the beach. People are super nice and answered all our stupid newbie tourist questions with grace and a smile. From 7pm till 2 am there is karaoke bar on the main floor called "Wang chung". If you are in good shape there are alot of things to see with on a 2 mile radius or walking distance. I had 2 knee replacements and was still healing. So we rented an scooter coup (Side by side scooter) to go to Diamondhead and other sites. The rental place was literally 200 ft from the front door. We stayed for 6 days and were never disapointed.

Lucy H.

Yelp
In spite of mixed reviews, we chose to "Stay" because of its great location - literally next door to our favorite south shop, a block from the beach and a block from a number of our favorite restaurants. Our room was adequate in size, with a futon, desk and armchair. Was excited that we had a microwave, EMPTY fridge and coffee maker - although there was coffee and snacks all morning through 3 PM every day! They also had a filtered water dispenser! The bathrooms were tiny, but functional The only negatives were they did not have windows that could open nor blackout drapes and a teeny tiny tv. The staff was always friendly, helpful and informative. The next time we stay here, we are definitely gonna ask for a room on a higher floor, and away from back of the hotel so as not to be awakened by the daily pick up of trash and then late night departure of guests from the very, very busy karaoke bar downstairs.

Timira M.

Yelp
Honestly would stay anywhere else besides this hotel. No guaranteed parking or spaces on the property, no breakfast offered, loud club on the first floor, roach traps found in the room, dirty sheets and floors, etc. It was filthy for the amount they charge. Though the staff was kind, this hotel needs a complete remodel and upgrade. There was mold in the bathroom and spots along the bedroom wall. It was an uncomfortable place to sleep. Please book elsewhere if you value comfort and space.

Mariinsky H.

Yelp
Convenient location, I have stayed there once a year after the pandemic. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Indeed, it can be noisy in the night, however u get what u paid for..The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Christy E.

Yelp
This was the worst place I have ever stayed on Oahu. We were put on the eighth floor and it was incredibly hot. The air conditioning was not enough to cool off the room. My daughter was sick with pneumonia so we had to stay in the room and there was construction and protesting outside the room, so noise all day and into the night. The toilet did not flush. The room was so small. We could not get out of bed on the left side because it was against the wall. I would not recommend staying here to anyone!

Kasey K.

Yelp
The yelp rating of 2.5-3 stars is exactly what I would rate this hotel. The distance to the beach and the price could not be beat. We stayed 8 nights in August 2022. The AC was working, the shower had hot water, and the bed was comfortable to us. If you are a light sleeper, do NOT stay here. The photos on multiple websites had us convinced we'd get a semi-decent room. Unfortunately, I'm sure only a few rooms have been upgraded to those shown on hotel booking websites. We had a room on the 7th floor. The room was tiny, the bed is closer to the floor, and the AC is a window unit also close to the ground. The bathroom was straight out of the 70s/80s. We had a desk, but no chair provided. We booked this room via Agoda and it did mention there would be additional $92 resort fee to pay when we arrived at the hotel, however this ended up being closer to $140. Please take this into consideration when comparing pricing. Some positives of staying here were that it was close to the beach, close to bus stops that took us everywhere, had a filter water station in the lobby, had a Keurig for coffee, had a few tea options, and had a few inflatables and towels to borrow to use at the beach. The bathroom had wall dispensers for hand washing and shampoo/body wash. As a few have mentioned, it did take multiple pushes to get soap/shampoo to come out. We didn't have any issues with the AC. Since the bed and the AC unit were close to the floor it worked out fine. We also didn't see any bugs like others have stated in the reviews. The room had a mini fridge & microwave that was clean and a smart TV that worked well for us. A big negative was that you could hear everything going on outside. The café/restaurant next to the hotel had live music until 10:30-11PM. From the room you could hear all the car and bus traffic. In the early morning you could hear all the delivery trucks arriving. In the room there wasn't a dresser, so we kept most of our clothes in the suitcase. There also weren't very many hangers for 2 people to hang things. The hotel lacks parking. If you are renting a car, be ready to spend some time looking for a spot to park your car. We had a car for one night and spent almost 1.5 hours looking for a parking spot. The hotel was out of spots and gave us a list of locations. None of them had a spot for us. We ended up parking in one of the harbors. Overall, this was a good enough stay for us since my husband and I are pretty minimalist people when it comes to hotels. The WiFi worked well, the TV worked, the AC cooled, there was a clean enough bathroom & how water for showers, we had a comfortable bed & cold free water in the lobby.

Yelp
I know this place gets a bad rap but my experience staying here was wonderful. A lot of reviewers tend to point out things that are expected from a high end luxurious hotel, you get what you pay for and this place has fair rates considering how close it is to Waikiki beach. Why pay top dollar for a luxurious hotel way off the strip in the middle of no where ? What made my experience great was all the sweet staff working there, every staff member from the top down, from the general manager down to the cleaning staff, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, they really made me feel at home. I want to give a special shout out to the young lady working the front desk (Juvie) who took the time to listen to me vent every day lol, told me all the spots to check out in Waikiki, gave me fitness advice, coordinated and prepped for my guest that was visiting me.

Josephine A.

Yelp
You have to check in to get into the parking and then be told that parking is full and three blocks away. The front desk had one person and she asked for help three times before this unfriendly person helped me. Rooms were really small said queen size bed but was a full size. One lamp didn't work only one outlet worked in the room. Shower was so small and was leaking water. I would never recommend this place to anyone especially since it wasn't cheap. Carpet was nasty and they didn't vacuum very well cause still had rubbish.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I loved staying here!! It was very comfortable and the location was perfect. It's only one block away from the beach and right next to some great restaurants. The staff are super nice and super accommodating! They made the stay perfect. You also get snacks to take to the beach with you everyday, and coffees! The baked corn snacks were so yummy. The rooms are very clean and are perfect for staying in paradise, you will be spending your whole time outside so you don't need a huge room. They also have like a 60s retro vibe which is fun! A special thanks to Lex, Joseline and Crysta! Y'all have a great team, thank you for making our vacation great!

Rafael A.

Yelp
Great Location. Reasonably priced. This is the 2nd year in a row that I stayed at "The Stay". The staff has been amazing both times, friendly and prompt. I feel a lot of people that give this place low stars, seem to have a lot of "1st world problems ". I don't come back home to my island to sit in a room to stare at a small TV. I get shelter and a bed at night to sleep in, running water to wash and bathe myself, and plumbing. You get a fridge and Microwave in your room. AC that keeps it cool for you. A bed and a futon to fold out. My girlfriend, son and nephew all got to stay in the same room which was nice and saved us some coin. You have a ABC store next door. Surf shops on the same corner and street. A couple of restaurants on Koa right across from the ABC they usually play live music at the restaurant. The beach is less than a 2 min walk. The staff provides beach towels. If available you get chairs, tubes, and boogie boards. They also provide coffee and you can even wash your clothes at their laundry mat. They have a Karaoke bar which is cool. Not my scene but whatevas. Who ever complained about drunk people being loud at 2 in the morning is an idiot. The karaoke bar has nothing to do with other patrons and guests. It's a separate business entity from the actual hotel (I believe) . Either way drunk people could come from anywhere on the strip or in their own room. Once your on your floor and in your room you can't even hear the patrons in the karaoke bar. It's in the city so you do have the cities night/early morning ambience as well as the hustle and bustle of the locals that actually have to work in the paradise us as "tourists" get to vacation in. Whoever complained about that is an idiot as well. That's the city life in every city. I've never had any issues with bugs or any type of pests at the stay. I lived in Hawaii 20 years ago and pests can be like sand, they find their way in every crack or crevices. The staff have done a phenomenal job of pest control. Is the facility run down? Yes and no. It's aged but I feel the staff does what they can to accommodate with out a major overhaul. And a major overhaul means a spiked increase in price. Is it a 5star hotel. No. The staff.Price. Location. Make it 5star. Do your self a favor. Book this spot. Save yourself the money you would have wasted on one of them Haole hotels. How long do you plan on staying in your hotel? Are you on the island to enjoy the scenery and the culture. If so book here. Use the money saved on surf lessons, food, a trip on the mana Kai catamaran, a dinner on a cruise ship. Go out and explore the island see what it has to offer. If your really out there on the island everyday, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, and walking everywhere by the time you get back all you will want to do is close your eyes and repeat it the next day. PS. Quick rant. The people that are complaining about the staff have to be some real Karen's and must think the universe revolves around them. You(us as Americans) Colonized and annexed Hawaii very recently and it received statehood in 1959. Yet every Haole and foreigner still receive a Genuine "Aloha" spirit and vibe. We are owed nothing on this Island and we are in debt to a culture and way of life that we are slowly killing. Inspired by the lure of tropical paradise, tourists come from thousands of miles to eat fast food and shop in big box stores, just like at home. Go Figgah. P.S.S. Auntie(not my real aunt, just my slang to the pretty older Mama San at the front desk) I know you asked for a Yelp review, I told you I would have my girlfriend do it but I felt so passionate to write it my self. Mahalo and Aloha- Rafael Andrade.

Liz R.

Yelp
You get what you pay for. Pros * affordable * right by the beach * staff was accommodating Cons * outdated * we were woken up by the trash trucks every morning because we were towards the back of the hotel and could hear everything * the layout of our room was weird (twin bed room)

Kalena C.

Yelp
My personal review I see everyone says it's bad and I can see why they would say this but at the same time it's also not too bad. Yes the rooms are a bit out dated but its sleepable There is no screens but that's fine cause I kept the windows closed anyways. Air con was cold so that's all that mattered. Nice spacey closet. Our room came with a microwave and fridge. Downstairs theirs a fun little karaoke bar/ food place. I believe it's a gay bar/ karaoke because of certain signs stating it hehehe and a big rainbow flag hanging in the front window. I don't judge tho! Looks fun The parking garage is very small but gated. The best part is it's literally a street over Waikiki beach

A Z Flor H.

Yelp
We stayed Monday to Friday. The lobby has a tv and loungers and communal beach gear like towels and floaties and beach mats and chairs that are free to use on a first come first served basis. Also coffee in the morning and a water dispenser, a Coke machine for like $2 a soda and a communal shelf of books to borrow. They also provide beach towels to borrow each time from the lobby desk. The hotel parking was also convenient which you also had access to with your room key card. And it was $45 / day all day in -out but the lobby desk lady said she'd charge us $35 which was really nice of her. The pictures when I booked made it look a lot nicer than reality but what's new. The room had all your basic necessities. It was clean for the most part Soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower. The windows in the room weren't fully functioning and at least the AC was adequate to keep the room cool. The location is great and was only a block away from the beach. But it's on a tiny side street where a lot of major buses run through picking up and dropping off tourists. And the sidewalk being closed off to construction at the time for a major project on a neighboring property. But in the end , I was happy with my stay overall and if you're looking for budget, simple , not extravagant accomodations (compared to the surrounding properties) this would be perfect for you as it was for us. I'm so glad and our stay was definitely memorable.

Madison B.

Yelp
Good luck getting up the parking garage ramp it's super steep and my car got stuck and I had to reverse out

Hope S.

Yelp
Tiny, tiny room. Shower too small to turn around in. Lots of hidden fees charged at end of stay. Must pay extra for parking. Staff was very pleasant. Absolutely no view except roof of dilapidated building and abandoned construction site.

Amel I.

Yelp
If only I could rate it below 1. Do not recommend it at all. Shower do not work and has stains all over and cracks in tiles. AC will work when it wants to.

Rick B.

Yelp
So due to a booking conflict at another hotel I had to move hotels for the last two nights of our stay. I didn't want to go too far, as with the first hotel we were staying at was right across the street from the beach and I also didn't want to have to move all my luggage super far either. The hotel that popped up closest with a similar rate was "Stay Wakiki" which was just a block away from the beach and around the corner from where we were previously staying. Checking in was fine. The surrounding area of the hotel is not the greatest to look at and the buildings are right up next to each other. The lobby area is nice and they have a little coffee bar for you. So kind of a trade off there...no coffee maker in the room like some hotels but there is an option downstairs if you want to grab some. The ladies at the front desk were nice. The check in time was 4pm but they let us check in as soon as we checked out of the previous hotel which was noon. Door to the rooms are outside, so you do not enter the room from a hallway or anything which is fine. The rooms are big and spacious. The TV in the room should you choose to use it or have time to use it are tiny so watching it from the bed is tough as it is all the way across the room. They do have a futon in the center of the room though where you can sit and watch the tv and that adds an extra bed if your party needs it. The room comes with a microwave and a frig which is awesome. The door to the bathroom is barn door style and is slatted. So moisture and other things from inside the bathroom will get out and there is not privacy as everything from inside the bathroom can be heard and vise versa. There is also a slatted blind style window in the bathroom. I think these are called "Louver Windows" which are common on greenhouses. These windows do not seem to close all the way. Which in the bathroom might be fine but there are two or three whole windows of these on either side of the balcony doors in the room itself! And again they do not seem to want to close all the way which is a problem especially in a area with a tropical climate and humidity. This lets moisture and every sound possible into the room! It's rough if you are trying to sleep because people are outside at all times of the night and cars sound like they are drag racing around the corners. The moisture coming through the "louver windows" makes the room seem musty and bugs have free reign to enter which if the AC is running (which works fine by the way) then the bugs are coming in to the cooler climate. Which brings me to my last point. I am always paranoid I forgot something in my room so I double and triple check everything. Upon cleaning up and checking before going down stairs to check out I spot a large bed bug under the pillow in the room (pictured). So needless to say when we got home we all made sure all our clothes whether clean or dirty went straight into the washer and bags and other items were properly cleaned and sanitized. Honestly I could have found charm in this place. I'm not a big amenities person. I could have gotten past the small TV as we were so busy we didn't even use it. I could have gotten past the no coffee maker in the room, the bathroom door, the dated musty room etc. I could have gotten past the unfortunate view from the balcony or outside the front door and the sounds that entered the room the ENTIRE night. I could have given this place 3 maybe even 4 stars but after seeing the bug I cannot. It's sad because I think this might be a private owned location and I would love for it to do well. Note: the do have floaty tubes and boogie boards for you to use when you go to the beach which again isn't too far away at all.

Sandreezzy G.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to Hawaii, and although I know, I didn't book the most luxurious hotel, the staff here was pretty rude. The moment we walked in the girl wasn't very pleasant or friendly.. The room was fine I didn't book the hotel for the luxury. I booked the hotel because it appeared to be clean and close to the beach. When you book vacation, you don't plan on sitting in the room much anyway . Ended up renting a car and was told to come back in the morning when I asked about parking the day I rented the car for the next day and receptionist was pretty rude. When I left the hotel to pick up the car. I gave them a call to let them know I rented a car and was going to need a parking spot and then I was told I needed to be there with the car in order to get a parking spot quoted several times how much the parking cost (I was not concerned about the price of the parking so I didn't need to be reminded every two sentences of the phone call.) I was told that I needed to be there with the car so that the receptionist can see it and when I arrived with the car later in the evening, I had to write down the description and license plate of the car myself when the receptionist finally agreed to save me a parking spot. The general manager felt the need to call me and let me know that they broke up policy to save me a spot that I was being charged for anyway, and again repeated the price. Overall, this day was OK. I just didn't appreciate the rudeness of the front staff. I don't think I'd return to this hotel.

Yelp
Stayed here a handful of times, always mediocre at best, but today they shuffled us around thrice, no TV, explosive air conditioner, shit compensation for a leaking bathroom, just fuck all around the block. This place sucks, and should be closed for lack of normal service industry standards. Booooooooo!!!!

Yelp
While scoping out an reasonably priced stay in Honolulu, I came across Stay Hotel Waikiki & saw some decent reviews about the place. Pair that with the affordable prices and next thing I know I'm booking my stay here. There were a few pros to this place, but unfortunately more cons: Pros: - Location! This hotel is 1 block from Waikiki Beach and less than a mile from a lot of the local touristy areas - Free water filter/station near the lobby + coffee & tea station right where you check in - Staff was accommodating - I accidentally booked a room with 2 twin beds instead of 1 queen or full bed. The staff was accommodating and helped to change the room right away. - Pricing. The price for several nights here was much more affordable than surrounding hotels, but at a cost (see cons below) Cons: - The room: tiny, outdated, a bit musty, and in need of some caulking. Think: college dorm or cabin-like room. The bathroom looked ok but could use some upgrading. The curtains were stained and needed to be changed. The room itself was tiny, and the TV was mounted awkwardly on the wall above the fridge and to the right of the bed, making it a real neck turner if you want to use it. The sink and toilet are really close to one another in the bathroom, making it uncomfortable to maneuver and sit (especially for me, a 7 month pregnant lady lol). The personal care amenities provided (hand soap, body wash, shampoo) are tacked to the wall in a dispenser, but it takes some work to get the liquids out. - NOTE: Pictures on TripAdvisor or other sites are misleading, check Yelp pics posted by customers to see actual condition of hotel - Parking is first come first serve, $22.50 per night, and you can't reserve in advance (need to be physically present at the time of an opening). We stayed several nights and checked a handful of times for an open spot, to which we were turned down each time. Thankfully there's a parking lot 1 street over that we were able to get a spot at - A friend of mine called in advance and asked if there could be some sort of treat or chocolate upon my husband and my arrival. She called 4x the day of our arrival and no one answered. There also was no treat (or even a note of it on our booking according to the staff when I checked). Overall our experience here was ok. Great if you're on a budget, but don't expect luxurious hotel experience.

Vince R.

Yelp
It was exactly what my GF and I wanted. Nice and simple and less than a block from the beach. Walking distance of everything. They have beach towels, beach chairs and floaters to borrow. Very helpful staff. Definitely plan to stay here on the next visit.

David N.

Yelp
48 hours in paradise. Booked on Hotel.com and got a decent deal. A half a block to the beach. You can't beat the location and the price. It's a nice, no frills hotel. The room was okay. Not quite like the pictures, but I already know to expect that. Got a lanai room with two twin beds. Think of the dorm room in college. Shower only. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Still a clean room. The staff here are great! To those complaining on Yelp relax and enjoy the beach 500 feet away! The $18 resort fee was fine with me too. $200 a night including taxes are still a decent deal. No cash accepted, so you can't even get change for the vending. ABC Store in next door.

Yelp
This woman walked away from me at the front desk while I was walking to check in to the room I had already booked. I waited for her for around an hour when I went looking for her and found her doing drugs in the bathroom with a man with no teeth and a duffel bag around his shoulders wearing a tank top. She was so guilty she said she has the right to refuse my service and refused to give me the room I had already purchased. I encourage her supervisors (which she claimed she had none) to look at the cameras. After I confronted her about her negligence she then followed up with "that was my boyfriend and we were just using the bathroom together" Shady, dirty, dangerous place. And I better get my money back. Scammer drug addicts

Yelp
Came to visit Hawaii for a vacation, unfortunately I had a very unpleasant stay. This is located in Waikiki, right by a lot of convenience stores and the beach which was the only good part. Besides that, I walked into my room and when I open my door I have to walk into the bathroom in order to even get in and then close my front door and then walk out of bathroom. Then, it was very hot and humid with no air flow, on top of that the AC did not work fully, it'd flow for 10 min and shut off. I'd have to turn off and on the AC. The balcony was very dirty and it had fake grass but part the grass was nasty and hard with black stains. False advertisement. Other than that no room in shower and every few seconds it'd turn cold. But other than that, the view was okay. Today is my last night staying there, early this mornin I woke up at 2 AM to a women banging on the door for straight 3 hours until 5 am. Called the front desk 5 times nobody answered, my dad walked 10 min from his hotel just to ask the lady to leave and then talked to front desk. They let anybody in they leave the front door wide open. She left when he did, as soon as I started to fall asleep again there's the banging even harder. To the point where my room and my tv was shaking. She was screaming and crying in British, after a while the man next door let her in and they sat there arguing for another hour. If I could rate 0 stars I would to be honest. Worst stay ever worst sleep ever and very overpriced

Yelp
Oh my goodness... I don't even know where to begin. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Before arriving to the hotel I called and asked if they could place a happy birthday card in our room and the staff told me no that they can't do that. I told them even if it was just on a piece of paper that would be fine and they still said that something that they cannot do.That should've been the red flag to cancel my booking but it was such a great deal I was just passive about it. Upon Arriving To the hotel as we drove up for a moment I got scared that I accidentally booked a hostel. Now, the hotel itself didn't look like a hostel but the surrounding hotels around it did which is what caught me off guard. We then got into the hotel and checked in and the girl working was super rude with no personality. I excitedly told her it was my fiancé's birthday and she just looked at us with no response... Next we get to our room and the soap and shampoo dispensers had not been refilled. There was no dresser to put our clothes in. The fire alarm had been covered with a bag, there was a cockroach trap, And the ax barely worked. It gets worse... The vending machines were completely out of almost everything. The water filter's buttons were all broken. I did t even want to use it thinking they probably don't even change the filter. The coffee machine in the lobby broke and they said they need to call maintenance (it was a single cup Keurig). And the worst part was that there is a Karaoke bar in the hotel so the people in the bar would come out nightly at 1-2 am screaming drunk and wake us up. If you can find other options DO NOT book here.

Jam A.

Yelp
5 convenience and centrally located to the events we were attending that night 5 favorite karaoke bar is located in the lobby 5 Front desk ladies were super friendly 2 no free parking, $45 to park your car 1 Rundown hotel and rooms 1 Air conditioning didn't go lower then 75 degrees, and it was awkwardly located on the floor in the corner of the room. The air-conditioner did not cool down the room at all. 1 Windows did not open 5 it took less then five minutes to get to our room, after a long night of fun. 1 check in was at 4pm / check out was at 11 AM 5 walking distance from everything 4 free coffee and tea 0 no room service or bags service. But they did provided a trolley/dolly This hotel was cheaper than the majority. We got the last room on a busy Halloween weekend night. So we get what we paid for. We wanted a bed and we got a bed. You're not gonna get anything fancy at this hotel but it is in a good location.

Yelp
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone - visitor or local resident. The front desk team are rude and entitled. The older woman has the worse attitude and things she can yell at anyone in the lobby and use profanity while working. No class.

Yelp
This hotel staff bullied and intimidated my wife and falsely imprisoned her against her will in her hotel room. They took advantage of the fact that she is an immigrant who doesn't speak perfect English and told her she had to quarantine in her room and could not leave, explaining that it was because she "is not Hawaiian." My wife and I live on Kauai full time. She is from Thailand. She had to travel from Kauai to Honolulu for an immigration appointment. There are no travel restrictions placed on inter-island travelers and she was not subject to any legal or official quarantine. However, when she arrived at her hotel, the front desk person Krystal (or Crystal, etc. unsure of spelling) was extremely rude to her and lied to her, telling her that she was under quarantine. This was a blatant lie. My wife, having traveled to Oahu for an immigration appointment, had a trove of legal documents which clearly proved she was a resident of the state as well as flight records to prove this as well. Krystal and her managers refused to see these documents, gave her a key that would only work one time, and told her she was under quarantine and could not leave. All of these were blatant lies. My wife tries to be very amenable and did not understand what was going on. She tried to cooperate and was punished by being locked in her room for two days until she eventually contacted me. When I contacted Krystal at the front desk, she was very rude and dismissive. I explained to her the situation and that this was completely uncalled for but she kept citing "hotel policy" and refused to let my wife out of her hotel room. I asked her to put her manager on the line and she informed me her manager was not due in until 11:30 pm that night but eventually stated she would call her manager. I gave her my phone number and asked that the manager call me. She assured me she would. 20 minutes passed and I did not receive a phone call. When I called back, Krystal was even more rude and insistent that she wasn't going to let my wife out of her room. I called the Honolulu Police Department and am following up with a criminal complaint against this hotel.

Yelp
Not worth the $ even when it's one of the cheapest hotels around. The good: The staff are super friendly and helpful with any questions and needs. The location is super close to the beach and easy to get around town. A few ABC stores within blocks of the hotel and just a block from the beach. Also super close to shopping and restaurants. The bad: The rooms are TINY. Had to kill several cockroaches during the 3 nights I stayed there. The curtains do not block any light whatsoever. At 7 am when the sun rises your room will be filled with light and made it impossible to sleep. The room has windows that don't fully close and allow for the street sounds to fill the room all day and night. The air-conditioner sucks and even worse it's SUPER loud. I've lived in SE Asia for many years and am accustomed to noisy air conditioners but this was unbearable. I would not come back here again even if it is the cheapest hotel in Waikiki.

Yelp
The people who gave terrible reviews were expecting a five star hotel while trying to pay for a 3 star. This is a three star hotel so you get what you pay for. This place was perfect for my husband and I. We just needed a place to sleep and shower. I did not see any bugs during my stay and the windows are made the way they are because it's Hawaii!!! The employees were awesome and I didn't have a problem with anything. Resort fee was 15 a night. I was able to do laundry and came home with clean clothes :) hey, they even held our luggage for us! There was a karaoke bar inside the hotel but we didn't hear it while sleeping. You could hear a lot of the city commotion outside but that didn't bother us either. The bathroom and shower was small and the door would hit the sink. The only thing I would recommend the hotel rooms having is a body mirror. Over all our stay was fantastic and it was extremely close to the beach. THANK YOU STAY HOTEL!

Jerry C.

Yelp
Not really bad in my opinion. Staff is super nice and helpful. This is not the most elaborate hotel but it's perfect to sleep, get cleaned up and head out for your next adventure. Is it a 5 start fancy place? No it's not. But it also don't cost 400 or 500 a night to stay here. When I review I ask myself would I recommend them to friends or would I stay again? The answer is yes. Just keep in mind it is an older place but we didn't care. If you are looking for the best location on a budget this is your place. After reading other reviews they exceeded my expectations. Some things to note. They do have a borrow box of beach stuff, free coffee and breakfast snacks, Internet, and beach towels.

Malgeum J.

Yelp
Very poorly maintained room. Stained curtains with wires as curtain hangers, bed without a bed frame, rusted towel hangers, and the extremely loud AC...

Yelp
Listen, to God's truth this is the worst hotel you could possibly stay in! Stay away from the stay! You will get robbed and find yourself in a 12x10 room I promise I wish I'd read this. Here's the jist... Please look at the photos of this rat infested, roach infested hotel that you will be residing I have hired a lawyer for price gouging. I have proof that this 12 x 10 room was spoken verbally by the receptionist that when rooms become full, prices go up in price. I recorded this conversation & my colleague recorded we have several rooms available on the night that our rate went from $98 to $380.00 a night. . My lawsuit is underway. Price gouging is a law with documented proof. I will get my money and I will share my correspondence with you when done. This hotel had one 120v outlet extended by an rxtemyion cord! Stay well away from the stay!

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. We flew here from Maui where we are having the fires, my friend and I both just lost our jobs on front street and we spend a lot of time in Lahaina, everyone we know lost everything, when checking in and seeing we from Maui she asked "is the address on file your current address, oops I mean was." After she had already asked me if I had lost my home and I said I had not. It was insensitive and disrespectful to everyone that has. It took 30 minutes to check in, she took 4 phone calls while I stood there, one of which was to a friend telling them what she wanted for dinner. The Ad advertised parking, there was NO parking and the lady told us to drive down the road and there is a FREE parking lot with no gate that you can over night park in and when I asked if she meant by the zoo she told me no and that was too far away. We drove around for 3 HOURS looking for parking, we didn't find a spot till almost 9 pm. When we went and asked her where the lot was and to show us on a map SHE SHOWED US THE ZOO PARKING LOT WHICH IS A PAID LOT THAT GETS LOCKED AT NIGHT, AFTER I HAD ASKED HER MULTIPLE TIMES IF THAT WAS WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT. Wasted our evening in Waikiki. On top of all that all the photos online showed balcony's and a bed and a futon and a full sized bathroom. Our room we got put in has 2 twin beds in a 6' x8' room that was literally the size of a closet with only one window that had been sealed shut, that is a fire hazard! No bedside table, no ceiling light, just two twin beds and a moldy lamp and The bathroom was NOT clean and had sand in it. even the lobby is not the same as the photos online, this was listed as a 3 star hotel and I have stayed in hostels nicer. It did not even come with blankets, when getting into bed I found a gross large yellow stain on my sheets and hair in the bed that did not belong to my friend or I. The hotel was not able to do anything for us and said that they aren't responsible for what is advertised online. The room smelled bad and was stuffy, the only source of airflow was the ac, was up all night with burning eyes and runny nose from the room. The people in the room next door to ours let us see what their room looked like and it was a full sized room that had two large beds and windows. Paid almost $200 to stay somewhere less clean than a hostel, on top of that they charged me a "restore fee" when I asked what that was for or if they had a pool or anything for the fee she said no but it was mandatory and she would give me a list of what it covers, on the list was free coffee in the lobby, newspaper's in the lobby, and for there to be someone working the front desk. THOSE ARE ALL NORMAL PARTS OF A HOTEL THAT SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED AS A "restor fee" THIS IS SO FAR FROM A RESORT. Save your money and go somewhere else!!!

Yelp
All my husband wanted for his birthday was for some alone time with his lady. You see we have 3 kids. Our youngest is a baby that is pretty protective of his mommy. An attempt to touch his precious milk supply will activate the flow of tears and flurry of screams. After months and months of coaxing. A few days before the designated day I finally caved in. The Room- Yelpers are fo'real when they say the rooms are tiny. But you know what we came to do so it served its purpose. The room that we booked was a queen size. None of the pictures that were posted up on their website looked like our room. If you look on their website it shows rooms with huge windows. Our room had a size of a medium sized priority mail box for a window. Once you open the door to the room the bed is about 5 steps away. Here are a few pictures of our room: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stay-hotel-waikiki-honolulu?select=pqNi3vcNUTiAfr_nqS41WA#IpBQf3Qs-wkGg0AUvxsTnw In the room it had a flat screen tv, ipod docking station, and a play station that comes with one controller. It also come with a mini refridgerator. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stay-hotel-waikiki-honolulu?select=pqNi3vcNUTiAfr_nqS41WA#Y6rRYiR2ij0sjPiUdylUQA Stay charges a daily $10 amenity fee- The amenities that are included. - Unlimited DVD and Playstation 2 video games The machine didn't work when we were here :( http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stay-hotel-waikiki-honolulu?select=pqNi3vcNUTiAfr_nqS41WA#pqNi3vcNUTiAfr_nqS41WA - Daily Newspaper -Wireless internet access - Daily Continental Breakfast 7-9:30am The spread was pretty decent. It had 2 different types of cereal. Several different pastries. For drinks they offered juice, water and coffee. * Coffee will be out in the lobby till 2pm http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stay-hotel-waikiki-honolulu?select=pqNi3vcNUTiAfr_nqS41WA#GsxciguJwN_vD559ui0Ybg -Use of the computer and printer located in the lobby -Near the door they have different items to use for the beach. Such as boogie boards, mats, sand toys, etc. Parking: Like most hotels they charge you to park here. There is a $20 fee and they didn't have a space available so they suggested that we parked at Pacific Monarch. It was for the same price. It came with in and out privileges and it was for 24 hours. It's location is walking distance to the beach, international market, and the zoo. Sway: Stay has a decent restaurant/bar it matches the scheme of the hotel. Trendy, hip and chic. The staff here is very friendly. When we arrived the hotel gave us a $5 voucher to use at the restaurant. I purchased a Yelp deal through my Yelp app. If you love desserts they have an amazing chocolate steamed cake. Here's a link to my review: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sway-restaurant-bar-honolulu#hrid:PaFYJAeoN3B8AZFnE78j2g/src:self Staff at Stay: When I booked the hotel I mentioned we were celebrating my husbands birthday but no one recognized it. When we passed staff in the hallways they wouldn't say hi. We didn't encounter anybody that was rude. Overall: Great if you don't plan to stay in your room. Use your extra money to venture Hawaii. Walking distance from all sorts of shops, restaurants, and the beach. Try your best to use the different amenities that Stay offers since you are getting a daily charge.

Yelp
Besides the fact that Expedia messed up and failed to send the reservation info to this hotel, everything was decent... especially for the price. They are located like literally down the street from Waikiki beach. We rented a car and you have to reserve a parking spot which is $20 a day. Warning.. Their garage is super small and hard to park in. But then again, seems like all the parking garages on Waikiki are that way. So we upgraded our room to a queen bed. Expedia originally prices you with their bunk bed rooms. DO NOT GO WITH THE BUNK BED ROOMS. Unless you really don't care where you're sleeping, go ahead. We had to stay in the bunk bed room the first night due to technical errors with Expedia and the hotel and the room is pretty cramped. The next night, we got our upgraded queen room and it was to our liking. I mean, this hotel isn't the Hyatt, but it's decently priced for its location. They do have a $10 a day additional "amenity fee" which supposedly is charged for the wifi and continental breakfast they serve in the morning. This, by the way, is like basic pastries (croissants, muffins, cereal), juice, coffee. Conclusion: if you're looking to be within walking distance of Waikiki beach and the other touristy places like International Market and the high end stores, this is the best bang for your buck. If you don't plan on being in your room except for sleeping and showering, this hotel is good for you. It's cheap and the ideal location. The view isn't nice, but overall the room was clean and gave a very homey feeling. I think I saw a picture on Yelp that showed bugs in the room... This sort of made my bf and I iffy, but rest assured... We did not see a single bug in either one of our rooms.

Yelp
Stains on the carpet and curtains. The hot water in the shower cuts in and out. The worst hotel room I've ever stayed in. AVOID.

Yelp
Hotels over the long weekend were quite expensive. We found this place for $79/night not including taxes. Although it doesn't look like it, the place just opened up in October. It's a bit run down, but I think it's just the building itself. Our room was like a page out of an IKEA catalogue. The bed, lamp, curtains, dresser, rug and trash cans were all from IKEA. There isn't one on the island, so I'm not sure how much they spent shipping this stuff! They only have two choices for beds: one queen or a twin bunk bed. Since there were two of us, we chose the bunk bed. It felt like I was in college again! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/Cm2EYTyR_9JhbAjit86z0w?select=IXiBfguSkdTxvn0OwbtZJQ The lobby is quite modern. The room only had one dim light. The ceiling light does not work. The shower and bathroom are small. However, for only $79 per night, you are in the heart of Waikiki. There is plenty to do a block away on Kalakaua Avenue. Overall, good deal for such a convenient place, but staying more than a week can be a little cramped.

Yelp
Location location location we had really good experience during the time off our vacations at Hawaii we check in at stay hotel Waikiki staff it's super friendly, All the beach accessories are available for rent at front desk especially umbrella can borrow as well we enjoy our trip and have a good time Appreciated Stay Hotel Waikiki Front desk bring the welcome impression

Yelp
I wanted to express my appreciation for the excellent customer service displayed by Florencia and her staff at the Stay Hotel Waikiki. Florencia was very accommodating to my unique situation, as it concerned my friend's medical condition. She and her staff were very patient and went out of their way to ensure that our needs were met. This was especially important since my friend suffers from a rare disease and her health matters are severely critical when it comes to traveling. Florencia was very understanding and treated us with compassion. I am very impressed by her generosity and her willingness to help. She is a perfect example of what good customer service looks like, and she deserves recognition for her professionalism. I would love to recommend the Stay Hotel to anyone who is visiting Waikiki.

Yelp
Ok. It's not a 5 Star Luxury Hotel. However: Location Location Location. One block from Waikiki Beach and Luxury Row without the price. Is it old? Yes! It's original Mid Century Modern. However? They're renovating. And even on the upper floors? So clean. The MOST comfortable bed we have ever slept in. So here's what to expect. No storage. Small bath. Lots of noise because you're right smack middle of the city. Easy access to TheBus. One of the best bus transits in the country. In our 10 days here? We've been all over the island taking TheBus. We're 65 years old. If we can do this, so can you! Most of all? Aloha spirit. Always loving and welcoming. We had a couple of glitches? Courtney took care of them. Amy too. Mahalo Nui Loa! A hiki i ko mākou ho'i'ana. Aloha nui! (Thank you very much. Until we return. With great love).

Yelp
I like the location and the area room downstairs, my room was very small but I loved the bathtub. I watched tv all night my first night. It's in a location where there is a lot of noise at night I couldn't sleep without the tv on ! It's near an area where noise pollution is high and you can here people party loudly. My room was extremely clean with a microwave. I enjoyed my stay ! Staff is very nice as well.

Yelp
Well, I had hope that I could pass this hotel off and not review it but!! So I booked it with hotels.com and on the pictures it had a nice well lit outside hotel with white room with pops of color... what we got was a back building third floor, no elevator, no bell desk for help with bags, back alley dim lit white box. We didn't realize that when we got dropped off by the Uber driver that he had the address of the back alley building. So my 14 year old daughter, 6 and 3 year old sons and myself wondered around with big bags searching for someone's help. We came across a woman cleaning a room behind a gate and she walked us over to the front desk. Mind you, it's across the street, through the back laundry hallway. She told me the kids should stay here with our bags because it's a long walk... first off No I'm not leaving my children in an alley alone but thanks. Checkin was easy once we got started and the girl at the desk was friendly. Stay has vending machine, coffee and tea in the lobby so that's nice. I guess they have a lounge and nightclub... hmm okay. So our stay with stay was only for one night until my husband came into town. So that's why I opted for a cheaper room. I think it was$132 a night not including all the taxes and fees. I think they have parking under the main building but it's $45. Anyway, we check in and head back across the street and over toward our room. I'm so glad my kids are old enough to walk stairs bc the two big bags I carried one by one up 3 flights of stairs was no joke! The room was all white everything, the only color in the room was the brown couch and black appliances. They had a swamp cooler in the kitchen window, small bathroom with no tub and two twin beds. Well, what is the point of a booking criteria and putting my children's age down if you really won't accommodate. I have three kids and myself and you gave us two twin beds and a couch. And not a foldout bed. The boys are small enough so they slept in 1 bed and my daughter in the other because I don't like them by the door. Our tv wasn't working, the remote didn't work so I'm so glad I had the iPad with movies downloaded. Lots of stuff within walking distance from stay, so that was wonderful, but lots of construction going on as well and It's very noisy. Beach is close, restaurants, shopping and other hotels! In the early hours of the morning around 4 am a couple in the apartments behind us argued so loud and fought until the police showed up. I turned on the loud cooler for masking the arguing so it didn't scare the boys. I ended up adding late checkout on bc my husband didn't get into town until 2 pm and we couldn't check in our other hotel until 3. The girls that put the late check out in didn't tell anyone so that morning the maid walked in and the new front desk girl didn't know we did late checkout! And I don't understand why the hotel waited two weeks after our trip to charge my credit card...I was so confused. Moral of this story: find a better hotel. We won't be staying with stay anymore.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed her for 4 nights. There are definitely several reasons to give only a 3 star. And I wish I could give it four, but I could go. Maybe a 3.5.. the staff, including kitty and several others were all sooo sweet and helpful. The location is amazing, just a short walk to the beach and surrounded by so many shops and dining. The cons, the room wasn't what we thought it should be. My fault, I should've looked more into it. I wish there was at least a small dresser to put a few things in, and a chair. It was all very basic. Bed, stand with mini fridge. The tv didn't work, which was fine but still.. there looked to be cigarette burns in the covers and the floors were absolutely trashed. But the communal amenties were great, beach towels, boogie boards and chairs. Also a very fun karaoke bar right down stairs. There's a ton of construction so it was very loud, but that was fine. Also, if you for some reason want to sleep in while in Hawaii, the curtains will not help you.

Yelp
DONT WASTED YOUR MONEY IN THIS HOTEL really bad customer service no Wi-Fi leaking water in the shower Leaking water air conditioning .coffee machine doesn't work. We left the Notification to clean the room. they didn't clean the room at all we call and ask for the manager they said there's no manager on site .we ask to clean the room they say housekeeper is not here .so bad I never come back here.let the truth be known. After we called Expedia they told us that we can change the room to the first floor which had no balcony and that was right next to the karaoke bar. No thank we told him .
