Stay Nikko guest house was amazing! The staff was extremely friendly, and even drew a whole map, advised tourist attractions, and even drove us to the station. The house was very homely, cute and comfy! Had an awesome view of the resting area and countryside, and the beds were easily addicting to sleep in. It was also quiet, making it simple to fall asleep. Definetly one of the best hotels I've been in, especially nice after a tiring day. The location was very well placed, right near the train station, and out in the wonderful countryside at the same time! Even though we left something in the guesthouse, the staff went out of their way to return it to us! Altogether, the staff was kind and wonderful, the house comforting, and the location one of the best ever. I would definitely come back to Nikko again just to be in their hotel one more time😁😝.

We were in the "loft villa". It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The young couple who live in the nearby house are absolutely charming and gave us a lot of advice and a map they had prepared with local restaurants and their opening hours; very helpful.|The location is practical; we could walk from the train station when we arrived. We could also walk to the entrance of the world heritage site.||Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We had a lovely stay at this guesthouse. The location is excellent. Quiet and easy to reach. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we had everything we needed. The Nikko region has a lot to offer. We hope to be back one day!

Host is every bit as friendly, courteous and helpful as all of the other reviews have described. Extremely welcoming and excited to share with you important pieces of local information like what is open and closed during your stay, how to get to various destinations and other relevant information. They did not hover or bother us throughout our stay, do not worry. Japanese fluency is not required, Google Translate is also helpful but not required to communicate. Host has clearly had practice communicating with English speaking guests. The deluxe villa room is very large with four large beds (two mattress two futons) with an amazing view from a massive window in the bedroom on the top floor. All four beds are in this room but it does not feel cramped or small. There is AC and (probably) heater on both floors as well as fan(s) and it is easy to reach a comfortable temperature quickly. The bathroom is very large with excellent water pressure in shower. Kitchen has fridge, microwave and everything you would need to eat comfortably but I do not believe they allow you to cook your own food (for understandable reasons, safety and mess etc). Why would you cook your own food from scratch on vacation anyways. There is a table that seats 4; two western style chairs on one side and a bench that sits two on the other side of table. The smoking area outside is a lovely place to watch the world wake up. There were no bugs in the house or anything else similarly unpleasant. This area has seating for either 4 or 6 depending on the size of the patrons, and seems to be available for all guests to use from the different available house packages. Please be quiet from 8pm-8am in general and especially in the smoking area as the hosts reside a few feet from this area and neighbours are also close by (although you have plenty of privacy and plant/greenery barriers between you). You will not feel crowded by them. The house is a 10-20 minute lovely walk from the nearest station and is uphill most of the way to the house. The walk is along a river (or creek?) and is very serene. There is a small park 5 minutes walk from the house with many benches and tables. You will pass many vending machines for drinks and beer on the way to the house from the station , as well as a few convenience stores and restaurants. Stores close early here so do your research if required. The Nikko Toshogu shogun resting place nearby and the Kegon Falls are outstanding, but again check hours of operation when planning. You can walk to the Nikko Toshogu but need to bus for the Falls. The Nikko Toshogu is a MUST see experience if you find yourself anywhere Nikko. But back to the Guesthouse. It is amazing for all of the reasons above and more and I hope to return there. Please be respectful to the hosts and the locals if you go.

Wow!!! We 3 women stayed in the loft guesthouse. Lots of room (up and down beds), kitchen packed with all sorts of appliances, dishes, and utensils, tea and coffee available, easy to walk into town. Kenji was a really personable owner....helpful to a faults--giving us maps, recommendations, helpful info, etc.||Inexpensive to stay in, particularly for 3 of us. And he even took us to the train station to go back to Tokyo. Nikko was fantastic and the shrines were unbelievable!

The guy who manages the guesthouse is the nicest, friendliest, most helpful person ever. He really made our stay feel so warm and homely even though it was winter. They can receive luggage which is pretty amazing and we needed to send luggage to the airport and he spent a lot of effort working out how we could do it. It really made me feel at ease the amount of help and attention he gave. He sat down and helped us work out which hikes to do and which bus to take. He had bus maps and hike maps, we were time poor so we arrived with little planning and he helped us work out how to do the things we wanted to do. The room itself was incredibly clean and tidy, I felt absolutely comfortable there, he lives right next door so if you need anything you can ring a bell and he will come out and answer your questions. He also has a laundry service where he will wash dry and fold a certain amount of laundry - either free if you stay for 3 days or more or 1k yen. You can just feel the amount of effort and thought they put into the operation. I really want to come back one day, it was such a highlight of our trip.

On my recent trip to Japan, I stayed there and this was perhaps the best stay overall in my whole trip. I had booked a mini villa for myself and the experience was super cozy. The stay was perfect. Location also very nice, close to the station as well as the market. The villa had all the amenities you would think of. The owner was super nice and had a great time chatting with him. Highly recommended and if I visit Japan again, I will definitely be staying there.
