Myself and friends stayed 2 nights at this lovely historic building. The rooms were very spacious, comfortable brass beds, beautifully restored ensuites' with a sitting room for us to relax and socialize in. We had a complementary hot cooked breakfast which was delicious. Irene was very friendly and accommodating. The location was fantastic as we walked around the corner to the shops, accross the road to the paddle steamers and an easy walk out to dinner. Thanks Irene for a great weekend :)

It was a quiet little place bit perfectly located with all the essentials close by. The room was nice and warm given the age of the building and extra blankets available if required|Tea and coffee facilities in each room very good. Breakfast in the dining room was simple yet effective and was quite tasty. Would definitely stay here again if required

Quaint place with some rooms upgraded with authentic Victorian fixtures and fittings. A nice change from generic, modern hotels. Sarah is warm and helpful. Homely breakfast room with eggs cooked as you like them and a good choice of bread, muffins, crumpets and condiments. Will definitely stay here if returning to Echuca.

We drove along the historic port and spotted this enticing building, went in and booked a room. To our delight we had room 9 upstairs overlooking the river and the port. We opened the two huge double hung windows and the fresh air and light from a full moon flooded in across the river. Huge clouds of cockatoos squawked at dusk and dawn. The room was very comfortable and the hotel perfectly located in the middle of the historic precinct but totally quiet at night. We left a camera behind but Sarah found it and arranged for a courier to deliver it to Bendigo Art Gallery later in the day as we were lunching there on our way to Horsham. It was very kind and way beyond the call of duty. This place is highly recommended.

Historic hotel/motel in central Echuca, great location right next to the old port area. Spacious room, period furniture, comfortable bed, clean and modern ensuite. However, our one night stay was overshadowed by the load music from the pub across the road until after midnight - apparently this only happens on Friday and Saturday nights!

Wonderfully quaint rooms and fabulous breakfasts. Very clean and I loved the community sun room/reading room upstairs. Only down side is the reception which is only open in the morning but front door locked after 11am and nobody answers the phone after 3pm on a Friday or gets back to you if you leave a message either.

After a rather disastrous stay elsewhere the previous night, we tentatively booked a room at the Steam Packet Inn for my mum late in the afternoon while on the road into town. We were told that the late check-in would not be a problem as a key could be left out for us. The building was full of character and my mum's room (no.5) was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, with old-world charm meeting modern comforts. The lights had been put on for her arrival and she was simply delighted with her surroundings (and rather disappointed to be only staying for one night!). A particular attraction was the big overhead shower and new (old-style) toilet and sink. The location is also brilliant, being a stone's throw from the beautiful river, gums and birdlife. I can see how the rooms could be a little noisy if you got a loud neighbour or if there were rowdy patrons at a nearby pub, but you can't get the character of an old building without some of the drawbacks. Bring some earplugs just in case and enjoy this lovely accommodation in a top location!

The female at reception was bored, disinterested and had no interpersonal skills at all. Not a welcoming or good first impression. If she is not happy, get a new job! She had no knowledge of places to eat, or why there were so many people in Echuca on this particular week-end. The room on the ground floor was so small, dusty/dirty and in need of a good spruce. The shower ran hot and cold as you were trying to shower. The lamp at the side of the bed was not working. The worst was the noise coming from the band across the road at the hotel, it was deafening, you could not possibly sleep. Then the alcohol infected patrons walking/screaming etc., past the room at all hours of the night/morning was frightening. Additionally, I had to put up with the noise from the person the in room next to me snoring. It was as though he was in my room. Then there was the elephants stomping around in the room above and coming down the stairs.
