My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in one of the cottages about 1/4 of a mile away, tucked into the woods with a short walk to the river. The cottages have a cabin feel to them, which we loved. The location is amazing - sitting on the beautiful Umpqua river, miles away from the closest town or structures of any kind. Hiking, fishing, waterfalls and a hot springs, all within a 30 minute drive. Crater Lake National park is only an hour away. Food at the Inn was excellent. We had dinner two nights and breakfast one day. The dinner menu is understandably limited due to the remote location but the ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back!.

Our family gathered on the banks of the Umpqua River for a delightful week long visit. We stayed in one of the mid century houses that are offered for larger parties. The home was perfect for our group. Having two bathrooms and three bedrooms was just right. We used the kitchen from 9 a.m. to 10 pm and found the dining room with its view toward the river and the living room with its comfy couch and large chairs to be just right for talking or playing games. Such a great place to gather for our family and the two dogs. |River access was easy for both our fly fishermen and those who wanted to get wet. couldn't have been better.||Since one of our party is a professional chef we didn't use the restaurant as much as we might have but for those who arrived early and stayed until our time was up the food was well prepared and the outside seating was great and our well behaved Tibetan mastiff was a hit. Care was taken by the chef too make the offerings just a little different from the ordinary. ||All of the staff was friendly and helpful and happy to help.||We will make this journey again into the land of the no wifi and the wonderful pictures of bygone days that hung on our walls. Drive up or over to give this place a chance to show you what peace and quiet really means.

My wife and I spent two wonderful nights in The Falls cabin as part of our 30th anniversary celebration. Everything about the stay was fantastic! The cabin itself is so comfortable and just so very well done, but the view from the private deck is the star of the show! Words and photos do not do it justice. Everyone we encountered while staying at Steamboat Inn was helpful, friendly, and enjoyable! And the on site restaurant was spectacular! 10/10 would recommend to anyone that wants quiet, beauty, and absolute luxury all in one!

Stayed here one night last week. Everything was great! The rooms were comfortable and there was no mold which we are sensitive to. It was relaxing staying in a cabin room overlooking the river below the inn. Loved sitting on the deck in the evening. The only suggestion would be to build a half wall privacy screen between the rooms.

After mistakenly driving along a logging road on the way to Crater Lake, this place was an absolute haven in so many ways. First, the food was delicious - I had a sliced turkey sandwich with a salad. The salad came with an out-of-this-world lemon poppy seed dressing. Second, the Inn itself was warm and inviting with a fun gift shop, and as we soon discovered, it had cozy-looking cabins alongside a beautiful stream. This place was a treat to the senses and I cannot recommend it enough!

My husband and I came here for two nights after our wedding as a mini honeymoon. It was so lovely absolutely the rest and quality time we needed to reflect and absorb everything from our busy wedding weekend. We splurged on the Falls Suite and are so glad we did. It was so comfortable, the views are unbelievable. The restaurant had tasty food and staff was nice. So many waterfalls and lakes to explore. We swam in Steamboat Creek. This place is so special to us and I know we will be back!

Google
The Steamboat Inn is a delight with clean, comfortable cabins lining the riverbank, and outdoor dining area, friendly service and great (and plentiful!) food. While the cabins aren't air conditioned, mine came with a large box fan that quickly cooled it down. If you absolutely must connect to the outside world, know that you may not have cell service and the wifi is spotty. I did have success with the wifi mostly in the early am and late at night. However, the point here is to relax and enjoy the environs -- not be online!

Google
Rented the Henley Run house for 3 nights(dog friendly) . Big house with lots of room but very dated fixtures(tiny toilets, old furniture, great water pressure shower) , like visiting your clean freak grandma's house no TV or internet service(great unplug time). Gorgeous forest setting above the river. Loved sleeping with windows open hearing the river all night. Food at the main Inn was outstanding as was the service. Very helpful nice people here. Well worth a try.

Yelp
Great place to get away out in the woods. Cabins were clean and well appointed. Just be clear that when they say there is no wifi or data connections, they mean it. You will be cut off except for the wifi at the main building which does not provide much bandwidth. Location is ideal and great for hiking around and relaxing. Food at the restaurant was good even though they had a power outage and were forced to only use the outside grills. They recovered quickly from a bad situation and provided all that they could to make their guests happy.

Yelp
I've always been curious about the Steamboat Inn and finally stopped last weekend. Nicely done on the inside the view outside is beautiful. I had Mildred mess- smoked turkey with melted cheese lettuce and tomato. Steamboat potatoes is choice for most meals. If you're heading up the North Umpqua highway I suggest stopping.

Yelp
Amazing food, quick and friendly service. My only disappointment is that when I called earlier in the day to ask if I needed to make a reservation for two for dinner on Saturday at 5pm, they said no need, we can just walk in. When we arrived, we were told we couldn't sit outside because all tables were already reserved. Wish they would have told me over the phone when I asked because we really wanted to sit by the river. We still had a nice experience and took pictures outside after our meal. They also sell tshirts, stuffed animals and other things. Prices are reasonable. Parking in the front. Go check them out.

Yelp
We stopped in for Sunday brunch on our way up to see Crater Lake. This gem of a spot is located right next to the Umpqua River so you can enjoy the sound of the rushing river while you enjoy your meal. The service was exceptional. Great attention to needs. Our server brought out a water bowl for my dog and extra blankets for our group. He was smiley and personable. Now to the food...sooo good!!! I didn't write down everything our group got but there were satisfied sounds all around. The stuff French toast and cinnamon roll were delicious. The hot chocolate comes piled high with cool whip cream. Thanks to our local friends for taking us here! Definitely stop in if you're in the area.

Yelp
Although we were here well over a month ago, I still wanted to give this place a shout out before more time went by. This very cool inn and restaurant out in the middle of nowhere has a solid local-leaning menu and rooms to let... and lots of peace and quiet. I guess some folks call it a lodge, which feels that way inside, but from the outside it's a very nondescript building that could've been a Howard Johnson's motor lodge in the 70s.. so don't expect that classic woody NW vibe when you first drive up. Speaking of which, it's a bit of haul to get there, from either Roseburg to the west (about 45 minutes) or Crater Lake to the east (over 2 hours), on a remote, narrow road hugging the Umpqua River, but that was one of the things I loved about it. It's all about the journey, right? All that said, it is definitely a charming - maybe even idyllic - spot that's sure to lower your blood pressure a notch or two soon as you walk in the door. Simple cabin / lodge-like interior with a front desk and gift shop/merch area to the side, lotsa wood everywhere, and the main dining room just beyond. Out the back door is the outside seating area where we settled for lunch since it was a beautiful late summer day. The place is very casual - or at least it was for our meal, and we traded jokes with the super witty waitress before she went to fetch our order. Our outdoor table was a great call, with the Umqua River providing the perfect background soundtrack about 100 feet away. I ordered up the Rachel sandwich - a surprisingly perfect combo of sauerkraut, grilled turkey and melty Swiss cheese piled onto lightly toasted marble rye - and a frosty pale ale, and all was right with the world. I know, it's just a sandwich but sometimes the stars align. There are a few cabins set a bit closer to the river, nothing fancy there, but which look like something we might want to explore next time we're back. I hear dinner is a fancier affair at the Steamboat, but for a casual lunch in a bucolic setting, it didn't suck.

Yelp
We spent a night in the cottages on a two day rafting trip. I strongly recommend this resort. The service was great, the food was great, the peace and tranquility was great. The cottages are well appointed and very comfortable.

Yelp
We just enjoyed our 45th anniversary at Steamboat Inn, as we have three times before. Jessie and the other servers were delightful and rich sources of local waterfalls, trails, and personal entree favs. Pit ham Benedict, Beef stroganoff, Blackberry pie, and mondo Tenderloin steaks led to happy food comas, or maybe it was the large wine selection. Our service Dobie loved the squirrel-rich grounds near the Spencer cabin. The upstairs loft is wonderful when one of the party snores tooo loudly below. When we go again, I will take a smoke mask as the property was surrounded by wildfire this year. The smoke varies day, so a call a few days ahead yields an honest opinion, and you can bump your reservation up to a year out. We did this for medical reasons and it was honored with no hesitation. It's still a five-star place to dine and snooze.

Yelp
Great place to stay, our Maple Cabin was very quiet and secluded from all the rest. The Inn makes an exceptional place to stay for a couple of nights to hike and view all of the waterfalls along the North Umpqua River, especially in the Fall. Food and service great, I highly recommend a night or two at the Inn.

Yelp
Steamboat Inn has a long history. It started as a fishing camp. Fly fishing is so good there that people would travel for miles just to enjoy the scenery and excellent fishing. After a while some rental cabins went up and a cafe to accommodate travelers and things just got better from there. Steamboat Inn is now a fishing lodge with an excellent restaurant and small store with drawers of fishing flies, polarized glasses to see through the water glare, hats and sweaters to keep warm, various souvenirs and excellent food! There is an inside dining area with picnic benches and tables with a nice view. We opted to sit outside in the garden for breakfast amongst the trees and flowering bushes. We could hear and see the river from our table. Across the river we could also see the nicely recovering forest from the fires of 2020. Fortunately nature and topography spared Steamboat Inn from the fires and it is still a very scenic peaceful place. Staff are very friendly and didn't seem to mind us doing a bit of table hopping outside until we found one that offered the view we all agreed upon. The outside dining garden is so well manicured that it didn't really matter where we sat, all the tables were excellent. Some had umbrellas, some were shaded by the magnificent old growth timber. Oh! Food! Yes, they offer some nice coffees and so we enjoyed some lattes. I found the Logger breakfast to be very tasty with their special house potatoes, sausage, cheeses and some 'Grandma's Homemade Bread'. The eggs were cooked perfectly to my request and we were checked on frequently. The food was very good, service was excellent and it is about a 45 minute drive up hwy 138 from Roseburg. I recommend stopping off at the town of Glide in between to take a quick look see at Colliding Rivers, an excellent little pit stop on the way to stretch the legs and see thundering rivers meet at a confluence. Steamboat Inn is worth the sightseeing drive.

Yelp
Sent several emails/ NO RESPONSE also read if there are any FIRES in area and you have to EVACUATE, they will NOT REFUND you.

Yelp
The ABSOLUTE best place we ate on our roadtrip through Oregon! The service was superb. Our waiter was Cody and he knew what we needed before we even asked for it. Not to mention... he loved on our pup. The garden, beautiful flowers, sitting by the river and great food made for a perfect experience. If it wasn't for our tight schedule we would have come back for dinner! I highly recommend if you are in the area you make this a priority.

Gary R.

Yelp
Excellent lunch fare with good service and pleasant people. Beautiful views and a beautiful day!

Yelp
What a cute hidden gem. Must stop for the food. Their mushroom ravioli is out of this world and their tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend

Yelp
This was my first stay at the Steamboat Inn. After a long drive with the Porsche Club arriving at the Steamboat Inn felt like an extraordinary experience. The surrounding forests, the raging Umpqua River sounding right off of the balcony right off my cabin was a tranquil melody that put me into a state of reverie. The grounds surrounding the Steamboat Inn have been meticulously maintained and are so inviting to walk through. To cap things off, the chef at the Steamboat Inn provided us with a sumptuous meal that had each one of the Club members commenting how wonderful the food tasted. I had the steel head salmon and it was easily the BEST salmon dinner that I have ever tasted. I highly recommend the Steamboat inn for its ambiance, comfortable lodging , and fine food. I will return.

Yelp
We stayed here for several days and I would give the location and cabins a 5 star review and the food a 1 star review. The setting is beautiful and the river front cabin perfect. We ate dinner there twice and breakfast there twice. The ribs and steak were overcooked the first dinner and the pasta was lacking flavor and cold the second dinner. The scramble we had for breakfast was good, but the Benedict was overcooked to the point the eggs were hard boiled. We tried the house bread as a recommendation and it was practically not edible. We also had pickled veggies with an appetizer that were not even edible. The menu is very small so I was expecting better food and it was over priced for what it was. The service was mediocre- not bad, but not good either. Nope I was at your establishment less than two weeks ago. I may not have described the dishes as you have them listed on the menu but that's what we had. The pickled veggies were on the charcuterie board and I believe it was called truffle ravioli as far as the pasta goes. There was a steak option and the spare ribs were the special. Check your menu from June 17th-19th...

Yelp
This was our 3rd time back we love it so much! We are charmed by the peaceful location, the gorgeous views of the river, and the really comfy beds and cozy gas fire place. The staff were beyond helpful and super sweet. So what would I really rave about beyond all that? The FOOD! It was eye rolling, mouth watering, scrap every last bite off your plate kind of delicious. And I am a light eater, but not at Steamboat Inn! What is our draw to the area. The waterfalls of course! Stunning beauty all along North Umpqua. We saw 8 waterfalls in 3 days all of which were show stoppers! Not convinced yet? Good more vacancy for us and our friends.

Yelp
If you want a quiet hassle free place to spend time in a beautful secluded location with great food and people then this is the place

Yelp
I was staying nearby rooftop tenting and popped in here for breakfast on my way back into town. Although it took quite some time for food to arrive it was well worth the wait. I ordered the veggie Benedict with house made "Grandma's bread." It was phenomenal. If I could have taken an entire loaf of Grandma's bread and that rhubarb jam home I would have. If you find yourself in the area check this place out!

Yelp
When: Sun. May 30th, 1:00 pm, Party of 2 Adults Wonderful stop, along Hwy 138 on your way to/from Roseburg or Diamond Lake or Crater Lake National Park...It's about the halfway point, give or take a few miles, so Steamboat Inn is the perfect rest stop in between. The Service was impeccable and down home "Genuine" Friendly. All the servers kept stopping by to make sure everything was going ok and they did that for all the tables. On this occasion, my wife ordered the Kale Salad with Grilled Chicken and I ordered the Grady Burger (Burger with Fried Egg & Bacon). The Grady Burger was delicious, especially the Steamboat Potatoes, that accompanied the burger. My wife said the Kale Salad was tasty and adding Grilled Chicken to the salad made the dish satisfying. We definitely recommend the Steamboat Inn for a rest stop and refueling your stomach for lunch or dinner...please check their website for current restaurant hours.

Yelp
We stopped on our way sightseeing the numerous waterfalls on 138. I read that this place was expensive and wondered if it was more then I wanted to pay but we believe it was reasonable for lunch. We sat outside listening to the soothing sounds of the river. We did not encounter any bugs while enjoying our lunch. When we sat down the waitress took our drink order and brought a glass of what we wanted and followed up with a craft of it for us to fill up our glasses as we felt needed. I ordered a burger with the works that included bacon and eggs I forgot the name but it was very good. The potatoes that came with it were awesome. My husband ordered a club sandwich which had quite a bit of meat. It too came with potatoes. Yum. The waitress was on top of her game. I believe her name was Leslie. We recommend this place to have an enjoyable lunch.

Suzi H.

Yelp
This review is for the Cafe: The best dessert in a long time... a little bunt cake with brown sugar and butter topping! Doesn't sound like much but two of us ordered it and LOVED it! Wish I could remember what it was called!!? Four of us had a very lovely lunch here and I would definitely return next time in the area. Our waitress, Lisa, did a good job and was very pleasant! And, I'd love to spend a night or two in the Inn! Lovely grounds!!!

Gina R.

Yelp
Although prices were pretty steep, the quality of the food was high I'd recommend Steamboat Inn for a weekend stay, two nights max The hosts were fabulous, the setting great The menu doesn't change often enough to eat there more than a couple of days

John T.

Yelp
The setting, just above the North Umpqua River is beautiful. Sitting on the deck hearing the river while amongst the tree was beautiful and relaxing. The garden around the inn were beautiful. The food was great! The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when talking about all of the trails and waterfalls in the area. Overall, the stay was wonderful, although the Wi-Fi was sketchy in our cabin. The Wi-Fi is easily accessible in any of the main lodge buildings, and the are landline phone in the cabins.

Yelp
Adorable place, great view! Try the French dip. I don't even like French dips and it was delicious. Oh and don't miss out on the pie, it's perfection. So glad we stopped! They were incredibly helpful too. We lost our internet connection and I didn't have the map downloaded to the next waterfall. They gave us a waterfall map and now I have more waterfalls to add to the list! Would love to come stay here and chase waterfalls for a few days. Check out the library, it is so cozy!

Deb D.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Steamboat Inn. We stayed one night during an Oregon road trip. Our dinners, truffle ravioli and steak with vegetables, were presented beautifully and were delicious. The salad dressing was so good that my traveling companion had to get more bread to sop it all up. Our cabin was immaculately clean and comfortable. We had a door that opened onto a shared deck that is right on the river. Fell asleep to the sound of the river. Breakfast was another great meal and their lattes are incredible. We had to get a couple for the road when we were ready to leave. Service was impeccable for both meals. I would suggest this place for anyone traveling through. One of the highlights of our road trip.

Yelp
We stayed at the Inn for the last two years in a row, during a yearly family gathering event in the area. Every little detail from the toffee to the coffee to the decor. We rented both a suite, and then a cabin, because we couldn't get three nights at a cabin. Was a busy weekend. Both the suite and the cabin were exactly what I would hope for. The family that runs the Inn are very charming, and the restaurant is excellent! Would highly recommend checking-in at the restaurant, even if you're not staying at the inn.

Joan K.

Yelp
This was then third year I have I stayed at Steamboat Inn. I keep coming back because it is so relaxing, the staff are wonderful, food is great and the rooms are the best! I stay in the Maple Ridge suite which has a deck overlooking the river. After a morning of hiking, I can come back and relax on the deck and read a book and listen to the rapids on the river. I will be back again next year! My staff ask me why I spend my vacation at the same place each year and I just say, if you had ever been there you would understand why!

Yelp
What more could you ask for? Well I guess they could be here in Corvallis, but then it wouldn't be right next to the Umpqua river. 08/13/2022. Gorgeous scenery, the sounds of the rushing river, great service, and food so good that it reminded me of my favorite restaurant ever (The Gables in Corvallis, which is now history). I give the two a tie. We (two of us) ordered their version of chicken noodle soup and a BLT plate, and shared. It wasn't an official meal at 2 PM but we wanted to taste something there. I'll get this out of the way: the cashier seemed like she was in a bad mood--but that was the only thing that wasn't really great, so read on. I have had good chicken noodle soup before, but this was fantastic. There was a flavor in with the cream and chicken that I couldn't quite place but it was really good. A recipe would be really appreciated :) The bowtie pasta in it was al dente and not mushy. I'm so used to mushy that I almost expect it. This even had great pasta in it. The BLT reminded me that high quality bacon really does make a difference. Mmmm. And there's plenty of it. Their pan-fried potatoes: best potatoes I've had in years. Wow! They really know what they're doing. They were yukon gold with some seasoning and fried 'til they had a lot of crispy parts. I could actually make a meal out of them, heh. It's a long drive from here. Next time we're in the area we will spend the 120 bucks or whatever for a full dinner for two with drinks and dessert, because I think it will be worth it. Maybe the cashier will give me a smile.

Randy W.

Yelp
Make your reservations and need to cancel due to hazordous smokey conditions don't expect a refund! Keep this in mind when booking during the summer.

Susan O.

Yelp
My family and I loved the Steamboat Inn. The cottage we had was beautiful with lovely amenities. We had a spectacular dinner in their library which was elegant yet casual. The food was fantastic! All of the people we dealt with were so friendly, they made us feel like family. It was a beautiful ride to Crater Lake from there the next morning. Only problem was we wish we could have stayed longer!

Bill S.

Yelp
Excellent food and staff a little tough to find but great staff, food and bar. We would go back when in roseburg

G G.

Yelp
What a great place to visit and have a wonderful meal. Located right beside the North Umpqua river: restaurant, lodging and amazing sights. The food and the service were tops, above expectations.

Neil B.

Yelp
We had an excellent time at the Steamboat Inn. It was a great place for a romantic escape. The Waterfall Suite is perfect and we both loved falling asleep to the sound of the river. We will most definitely be returning.
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
Honestly, we didn't stay here, but my brother did, and he said, it was way overpriced, and there was not much in the way of amenities. I know someone on here complained about the Wi-fi only being available for overnight guests, not restaurant guests, that's because you have to pay for it. That's probably a really hard sell, in today's economy, much easier to say "it's for overnight guests only" but I'm just guessing. My real review is for the wedding I drove 800 miles to attend on the premises, and the "Mexican food" reception they catered. Probably the worst taco buffet, I've ever eaten, with, I kid you not, brown guacamole, and ketchup-like salsa, when I inquired why they were serving hummus, at a taco buffet, I was told, unfortunately, the avocados weren't ripe, but try it, it's delicious (it wasn't) but I was also told to be careful the salsa was very spicy. There wasn't any degree of spice, chilies or peppers. I couldn't tell the difference between the stewed pork, and stewed chicken, the rice was saffron, and the beans looked like baked beans and tasted like chili beans. Probably one of the poorest attempts at Mexican food ever.
google avatar

Adria H.

Yelp
Really good food, the dinner menu is very short and expensive and they will only take your order during the exact hours of that meal yet we found it to be worth it. The beef and the fish were delicious along with the accompanying veggies and starches. It's a really nice place to stay and spend some time in the area and both the regular river access and the one for the houses across the river and really nice. There is a lot to do in this area and no other comfortable accommodations that we have found so would stay here again if we return for more adventures.

Yelp
We came in on a beautiful Monday afternoon in June. We sat on the outdoor lawn area overlooking the River below. Idillic! The sound of the River below added to the beauty of it all. We split a cheeseburger and had a tasty glass of wine and beer. Everything was delicious. The service was excellent! Will return!

Yelp
Wow. What a little slice of heaven! We stopped here for lunch and adored it. Ate outside with a view of the river in 70 degree weather. Flowers and butterflies and super friendly service. It was lovely. And the food is great. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
6 of us enjoyed a delicious lunch today at Steamboat Inn. Everything was perfectly enjoyable; from the woodsy riverside setting to the excellent food & attentive server. We're locals who can't wait to return!

Yelp
We love staying at Steamboat Inn! The food was excellent and the staff so wonderful! We will be back

Yelp
My wife and I just got married at Steamboat Inn and had the most incredible experience from start to finish! Melinda and the staff were extremely kind and accommodating, helping make the day and weekend feel special in every way. The nature and scenery of Steamboat is beautiful and a great home-base if you're into hiking around the North Umpqua Trail System or exploring waterfalls. Not far from Crater Lake where we had our ceremony too! Food was delicious and if you're interested in getting married at Steamboat, they were easy to work with when it came to planning, organizing, etc. We also hosted welcome drinks and a farewell brunch on-site. They also have a staff member (Sara) who can handle floral arraignments that she creates from local flower sources that are stunning. We're very lucky that we'll be able to look back on our wedding with fond memories thanks in large part to Melinda and the whole Steamboat team.

Kathie S.

Yelp
We passed this place on our way to Crater Lake and when we stopped at the Lake, we googled it and decided to stop on our way back for cocktails and a bite to eat. Oh my gosh, we were so glad we did! We walked in and was greeted by Lesley/Leslie who was so sweet. The main dining area/gift shop was so pretty and homey. When you go thru that area, there is like and enclosed patio area. Walk on a little bit and there is an outdoor seating area that is so beautiful and peaceful. We elected to sit there. The landscaping is pretty and the location is on the North Umqua River (I think that's correct) in a section that has a couple of sets of rapids. The ambiance was so peaceful and quiet--and yes, even the sounds of the rapids was soothing. I was intrigued by their tomato-coconut soup and Lesley couldn't rate it since she didn't like tomatoes but when we asked another patron, she said it was delicious. I had to try a cup of it and hubby and I ordered their Smoked Steelhead Dip--I couldn't tell you which one was the better of the two because both was amazing! What can I say about Lesley: she was so bubbly and outgoing. When I relayed that to her, she said she was born to be a server and I couldn't agree more. She was outstanding! Don't miss stopping at this place if you're in the area. It is so totally worth it.

Yelp
Steamboat Inn is located in the most exquisite part of Hwy 138 scenic drive. The campwater house we stayed in was right on the North Umpqua River. So when you open the windows all you hear is the sound of the river. This sound is so relaxing and our kids loved playing in the backyard and the trail to the small rocky beach that we were able to have all to ourselves. I loved having a full kitchen, laundry room, 3 bedrooms, and an extra bathroom which helps a good deal when you have four kids with you. The restaurant was a short drive away from our campwater house. Here they served fine dining. We went around 11pm so some of us chose from the breakfast menu and some from the lunch menu. They also have a beautiful library next to the restaurants that guests can enjoy playing games, reading books, or catching up on their emails.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Eaten here multiple times. Food is good and location is amazing. Unfortunately, their hours need to be updated to reflect how they truly operate. Had family visiting town this week and decided to take an hour drive out of the way to eat at Steamboat Inn. Their website states the restaurant is open 8am-8pm (No lunch/dinner hours are noted). I called ahead to see if we needed a reservation and was told they were not busy and I would not need one. I told the person on the phone we would come by. We arrived at 4:05 and were met by a sign that stated their restaurant was closed. Upon entering, I asked a server if we could eat, and that I had called earlier. The server responded in an extremely patronizing manner that we had missed lunch, they were fully booked for dinner reservations, and we could not sit on the patio due to the heat wave (last one is understandable). As there is no place nearby to eat and we had just driven over an hour for Steamboat Inn, we decided to stay for "happy hour" appetizers (served 4-5:30). The same server served us haphazardly. The experience was not enjoyable and put a very bad taste in my mouth. I understand the heat wave presents difficulties, but a miscommunication followed by being treated as a nuisance makes me hesitant to invite guests of mine here again.

Yelp
WOW, wasn't expecting such a nice place up here. Very friendly staff. Had a very good Reuben with a Soda for $18. Check out the library to pin a needle.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night and had the most amazing time! We visited for my birthday and staff made it memorable. Arrived around 630pm and the restaurant was busy. We checked into our cabin - Cabin 3 and enjoyed sitting outside on the patio hearing the sounds of the river. The room was adequately sized and had all the amenities needed. Our dinner reservation was at 7:30 and I think we had the best seat under the tree outside with views of the river. The charcuterie and fish entree were both very good. We couldn't finish our bottle of wine with dinner but that was no problem because we could take it to our cabin! The room was comfortable at night - warm since no AC but a fan is provided. The following morning we again took the shortest walk to get breakfast at the restaurant and the food once again did not disappoint. There is a short trail to go down to the river and we did that too before leaving the property. We didn't spend much time in the library (which is open only for getting books but not sitting) but the room looked amazing. So many books and board games. WiFi is only available in the restaurant and library areas. We didn't get any cell service and no WiFi in our cabins which was very nice to wake up to no emails! Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing place to stay in the Umpqua forest!

Yelp
We met some friends at the restaurant for breakfast before a hike up Fall Creek Falls. It was reasonable for both the location and quality; the food was excellent. We sat outside under the shade of some trees on a stone patio which was lovely. There were 8 of us and we had made a reservation for 11:30am and would recommend doing so. Our order was taken promptly and our cinnamon roll came out promptly. It was magnificent- a little crunchy on the outside, warm and flaky inside and delicious (but very sews) cream cheese frosting on top making it perfectly easy to eat with or without the icing. Most of us had eggs in a variety of ways and they were all reported as delicious. I highly recommend the bacon--it was thick sliced and both crispy and chewy. The potatoes were good and very plentiful. (I had mine with the vegetable option.) I tasted the eggs benedict which is served with ham and a wonderful hollandaise sauce. (It was yumm). Others had fruit blinzes, biscuits and gravy, and one had a hamburger. I also had the small fruit cup instead of bread and it was sweet! I have only good things to say about the meal and the service, and breakfast/lunch for four was $68.

Yelp
This place is MAGICAL!!! My husband went as a child and had wonderful memories, but we assumed it was the magic of childhood memories... It's just as wonderful as an adult! Beautiful, serene setting, luxurious meets woodsy accommodations (ahhhh, the bathtubs), fantastic food + drinks and fantastic, friendly service! We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay!

Yelp
We strolled through on St. Patty's Day and I ordered the special which was corned beef and cabbage. I'm not big on writing reviews but that was by far the best corned beef I've ever had. It was so awesome to find a place that far out that was serving a home cooked meal, nothing frozen, just real actual food! I was very impressed and will definetely stop by there anytime I'm out that way.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at this Inn and ate at their restaurant. The service was horrible and the food was mediocre, at best. After waiting over two hours for our dinner while we were bitten by mosquitos - we finally received out chicken parmesan dishes. The pasta was mixed with broccoli and chili flakes and the chicken was extremely greasy and not very good. Overall, dinner was somewhat inedible. The room/cabin we stayed in was approximately a mile off the main property. And, because dinner took so long, we had to navigate on a narrow road at about a 60 percent grade in the pitch dark to get to our respective cabin. The area is unlit and difficult to navigate at night. The cabin has a small kitchen that is directly adjacent to the front door. The kitchen also has a coffeemaker with a glass carafe that is balanced on a very small shelf. While the cabin is somewhat isolated (except for those camping a few feet below and folks in the other cabins), there are no blinds in any of the rooms and anyone can easily see inside. Hence, no privacy. The cabin is dated and the kitchen area is extremely small, cluttered, and overall, appears unsafe. The bathroom also had a smell that was quite horrible, but in all candor, it may have been the soap that was provided with the room. Either way, it smelled pretty bad. The master bedroom contains a desk, a dresser and a bed with a wornout mattress. Both the dresser and desk contained protective glass tops to protect the wood underneath and were unsecured and pose a hazard that may lead to serious injuries, which is what happened to my spouse. We only learned that the glass was unsecured when it fell on her foot causing her serious injuries. Even though the cabin had a small refrigerator, no ice was contained in the freezer section. Despite being advised of my wife's injuries, the folks at the Inn were more concerned with making sure that they charged us for the night rather than making sure she was safe. It is also significant to note that their is no Wi-Fi, cellular service or phone with a hardline contained in the cabin. The cabin also sits in the middle of the forest that has recently suffered from prior fire and fire damage is seen throughout the forest, leaving one to wonder- how you would be notified of a fire in the area? The cabin is essentially a wooden shack that is disconnected and isolated from the outside world. Skip this place if you can!
