Rode the gondola at Steamboat Springs Ski Resort to have a meal at the top. Laura and her team helped us immensely, otherwise the whole trip would have been over. Experienced the best customer service ever! Our 88 year old mother-in-law struggled with the altitude and the crew at the gondola bent over backwards to help us even with a huge wedding going on. We felt incredibly special and seen. A beautiful scenic ride!

Google
This resort was amazing and probably one of the best I’ve been to. There were barely no crowds for both the weekend days, the runs and snow were great, but were amazing the next day, and the lodges were great and conveniently located throughout the park. The staff and the ski lifts were great as well. I highly recommend to ski on the east side of the ski area near the Morningside and Bur-Ue lifts, as those runs were the best I’ve ever encountered. As for the rest of the ski area, it was great overall and easy to navigate throughout each section of the mountain. If you’re looking for a ski resort with no crowds, amazing snow, great runs, great views, and wanting to try a different resort, go here. Highly recommend! Breathtaking resort overall!

Google
Steamboat Ski Resort exceeded all expectations! We came here in middle of January. The gondola is a real highlight—it provides stunning scenic views as you make your way up the mountain, and it’s such a smooth and efficient ride. The trails were never overly crowded, which made for a more relaxed and enjoyable skiing experience. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced skier, there’s something for everyone, and the mountain layout is fantastic. All of the staff we interacted with were incredibly friendly and helpful. They made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Steamboat Ski Resort is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great ski vacation!

Google
Huge area to roam. Good mix of greens and advanced runs. New lift mahogany requires you to hike out. And boundaries aren't well marked. Would definitely come back. Free shuttle that takes you to downtown and the slopes.

Google
This was my second visit to Steamboat and the skiing is amazing. Great snow, a wide variety of terrain, great snow, bluebird sunny days, powder, and a cool, laid-back cowboy skiing vibe all can be found here. I hope to have the opportunity to return each and every year until I can ski no more! Love who you are and what you do Steamboat!

Google
I recently spent a few days at Steamboat Ski Resort, and it’s hands-down a 5-star experience! This place is a skier’s paradise, with over 2,900 acres of terrain that caters to every level. The snow here is unreal—light, fluffy, and deserving of its famous “Champagne Powder” title. I hit the slopes during a fresh powder day, and carving through the glades off Sunshine Peak felt like floating on clouds. The tree skiing is some of the best I’ve ever done, with perfectly spaced aspens that make every run a thrill. The resort’s layout is massive but manageable, and the new gondola does wonders for getting you up the mountain fast—no long waits, even on a busy day. I loved the variety of runs, from steep chutes like The Chutes for a challenge to mellow groomers like Heavenly Daze that let you soak in the stunning Yampa Valley views. The stars at night were a bonus—crisp, clear, and absolutely dazzling, making après-ski drinks at Thunderhead Lodge feel extra special. The vibe here is so welcoming, too. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the base area has a laid-back, authentic mountain town feel—not overly commercialized like some bigger resorts. We tried the on-mountain dining at Hazie’s, and the food was top-notch with a killer view to match. For families or beginners, the ski school and gentle slopes off Christie Peak are a huge plus. Steamboat truly has it all—amazing snow, epic terrain, and a genuine Colorado charm. I’m already planning my next trip back!

Google
This place is amazing, and the employees are so kind. I took my grandmother, who wanted to eat at the restaurant on the top of the mountain. I want to thank everyone on the gondola who helped us today. Your team is so kind and amazing, helping us get her situated and making the memories so much more memorable. You all went above and beyond and she had such a great time!! She is ready to visit again. Thank you again!!

Google
I have to start off by saying that we had a great time at steamboat night skiing and daytime skiing BUT we did unfortunately encounter an incident where a steamboat ski instructor was screaming at a little girl he was supposed to be teaching while she was crying. We immediately called and reported it. Steamboat claimed they “took care of the guy” but wouldn’t clarify what that meant.. either way the guy worked there 4 years so I feel like this can’t be the first incident of this. Anyways, as a mother, that kinda ruined the trip for me.

Yelp
Gorgeous resort and LOTS OF POWDER. The runs are wide and lots of variety in skill level. Also love the fact they do lots of community events to bring everyone together. When I went, they had a Bud light Event with shows and live music. Tree runs are immense and lots of lifts/gondolas to go up, which helps to spread the crowd. Snagged free parking at the Knoll Lot on a Monday. I would consider coming back and staying in the town for a night or two to make it more worth the stay!

Yelp
Very nice resort with plenty of eatery and best for skiing. I stayed at the Sharaton and it was lovely we could see the slopes right from our balcony; it was beautiful at night with the all of the Christmas lights. The amenities were great and the customer service was on par. Unfortunately I didn't get to skiing but def will next time. Going to town was a short drive. The ground is even heated driving in and going to the parking lot-which was insanely cool.thered a fire pits, ice skating, and daily activities to keep you occupied when your not skiing.

Yelp
A Most Bodacious Powdery Quest! In this wondrous year, I did don the board and taketh to the slopes of Steamboat Ski Resort, where the heavens themselves wept snow--nay, it was puuuukkiiiinnnggg! With courage untested, I did learn to shred the gnar, carving yon turns through fresh pow as though I were born of the mountain. Though my noble quest was not without mishap--for I did takeeth a most glorious tumble, my gear strewn across the slope like a peasant's yard sale--still I rose, undeterred, to send it once more with reckless glee. Steamboat is, without question, a snowy kingdom where one may find joy unparalleled. Shred forth, brave souls!

Yelp
Thank you, Ms Strom (manager) for going the extra mile and making sure my son got a receipt and your company email for his refund on his ski pass since he could not use it and bought it in advance!

Yelp
I went skiing in Steamboat Springs for 4 days. The mountain was vast and provided varied terrain to keep us occupied and pleased. The lifts ran quickly and smoothly and the liftees were fun and friendly. There were several lodges on tand at the base of the hill which made it convenient to use the restroom, warm up, or get food throughout the day. The prices for food were high, but also expected for mountain prices. The alcoholic hot chocolate drinks at the lodges were so good! If you stop by Four Points get the White Out!

Yelp
We always enjoy coming to Steamboat. We don't make it to Steamboat often because it's a hike from Denver but always have fun when we do. Yep, it's expensive- I read some other reviews and the cost comes up a lot. Here's a few CO native ideas to cut down... I recommend buying a season pass or a four pack if you're only going to ski a few days a year like us. Also, get a place with a kitchen or a kitchenette and cook for yourself which really helps with the cost. If you don't have a kitchen, at least get your coffee or tea or whatever and instant oatmeal (or equivalent) and eat breakfast in your room. That'll save a lot. My husband likes those flavored tuna packets which are super convenient to slip into your jacket for lunch while I prefer a simple sandwich- yeah, it's usually pretty squashed by lunch but I can deal with that to save $20 on not great mountain chow. We also buy most of our own alcohol which is a tremendous help. That said, we still visited the resort bar yesterday and today and probably will again tomorrow afternoon.

Yelp
Take the summer gondola and you can do a nice 1 mile hike up on top of the mountain. We had a drink at the restaurant also and that had great views. Smooth ride up and back.

Yelp
This review is for the bike park during the summer months at Steamboat resort. My teenage son wanted to downhill mountain bike but no one else in the family did, so we arranged on their website for a private lesson and bike rental. It was all super easy to set up and similar pricing to ski rentals and lessons in the winter. When his instructor Annie asked what we wanted out of the lessons, we said SAFETY first, SAFETY second, etc. They outfitted him with all the pads and protection you could think of. I was really worried about the whole event but they did a great job teaching him how to enjoy the mountain safely. He had downhill biked before in California, but had never taken a formal lesson and said he learned a lot of information and techniques as well as the terrain in Steamboat. He loved it and he had a great day with no injuries! A success! Annie was great, highly recommend.

Yelp
Epic year for snow so far. Total has exceeded all of last year already. Champagne Powder galore. Excellent conditions for the 60th anniversary of the ski area and it's still snowing today.

Cee B.

Yelp
Pros:Vast terrain, great glade skiing and off piste. Everything from steep chutes to blue cruisers and easy greens. Great slope food and good apres ski. Staff is super friendly and omnipresent. Lifts and gondolas are first rate. Cons: Absolutely hate the shuttle logistics and cost from Hayden Airport. $550 RT Lift tickets are nearly $300 Restaurants and everything you can imagine is uncomfortably expensive. We routinely paid $300+ tip for our dinners (4 people) And the worst part is the outrageous short term rental tax we paid ($2100) As much as I love the skiing, the costs have gotten completely out of control, for what we paid, destinations like Zermatt or Aspen is now an option. As such, we're looking elsewhere for our next family ski trip. So long Steamboat.

Yelp
Fantastic ski resort! The slopes are beautifully groomed and they have so many food options throughout the resort. The gondolas can get busy so the trick is to get in the singles line and just wait for each other up top. We stayed more to the top/middle of the ski slopes versus coming back down the the bottom. We never had to wait long on any of the lifts. There are so many great runs! The blue is not aggressive and even some of the blacks we encountered were more mild. Which just makes it enjoyable! There is the challenge but you don't feel like you are going to die! :) It was also so easy to rent equipment and they have many options to rent from right at the resort. Parking is tough and expensive! So park down below and take the shuttles. Also we found the map a little hard to read and figure out how to get to the top or to the right side...but we figured it out. We enjoyed our time!

Yelp
My 9th year and still loving the charm of steamboat! I highly reccomend their ski school and if you get private instructor-a huge shout out to Sierra. She is patient and worked so well with our two boys! Our favorite ski destination.

Yelp
We make a weekend trip out to Steamboat every year. It's lovely! The crowds are usually less because it's not a day trip from Denver. Snow can be quite plentiful and you could be lucky enough to experience some champagne powder. There's a variety of terrain for every experience level and it's spread out well on the mountain. The base is FUN, lots of restaurants, bars, events. The resort is also nicely complimented by the town, you can shuttle in and there's plenty to do! Steamboat Grand is one of the best places to stay for ski in/ski out and the pool/hot tub area is huge.

Yelp
Love the beauty of this place. This is our second year here. We use the ikon pass four days, we rented from fleischer sports, we took ski lessons half day. We tried a few different restaurants at the base. It is a very very very expensive area. If you know how to ski this place is amazing there are so many trails , All the member of our group are beginners and they love the trails because they are not very full.. We have a half skiing and half snowboarding. My one complaint is that after your lessons there is no where to practice. I did not Master the art of stopping and turning during my private practice. And you are not allowed to return to the practice area unless you're paying for a lesson that day. I think that's robbery. I did not learn how to get on or off the lift I am not comfortable skiing down a hill because I cannot control myself and there is nowhere that you can practice safely. So if you plan on taking multiple lessons then this is probably a great place to come as there are great teachers here but if you are a slow learner like me then this is probably not the place you want to vacation if you hope to get time on the snow. The prices are very high even higher than they were last year, but there is so much to see and do here that I would recommend coming at least once. Oh and there are many many many children learning, the teachers all seem very patient with the kids I would definitely bring my kids here to learn

Yelp
One of my faves in CO because it gets better storms, high quality snow, has lots of terrain and the town has a great vibe (I pondered 5 stars). Very good tree skiing. A good assortment of lodges in the middle elevations. It can and does bottleneck at the base in the morning; once at the upper runs the crowd size is manageable. From Storm Peak chair, traverse to the Ridge and Chutes area and wander into the Big Meadow / Skeeter's Run. Also can be accessed from Morningside. If you're here when there's powder, it's fantastic.
google avatar

Amber E.

Yelp
Steamboat is one of our favorite resorts, great light and fluffy 'champagne" snow, lots of great runs, and cool lodges at the resort and base. Also, love the town - so many great restaurants and shops to explore in town. This is our third year skiing here, and look forward to returning!

Yelp
Great skiing. Snow was amazing. Couple of lifts on the backside of mountain that could be bigger but overall a great experience. There are self-serve kiosk close to the lifts so you can get your lift tickets easily. Great ski slopes, nice balance of easy, intermediate, and difficult slopes. Several eating places on the Mountain. Loved it and will be coming back.

Yelp
I've been making the rounds of ski resorts. Finding something to suit a beginner like me is not that difficult in CO. I am after all in a state where winter sports is second nature to most its residents. I'm a bit spoiled. Steamboat is my fave. It's the convenience factor of ski in ski out. Time share owners earned the right to enjoy that or a hotel guest. Ski valet. Ahhhh..this alone is a good reason to ski "The Boat". This amenity when you check in; the bell boy will take your skis and store it downstairs (same place as the rental place) for pick up later when you're ready to ski. The above considering; the real deal here what is known everywhere as "champagne snow" why?? It's fluffy snow. The best they say. The runs. For a beginner I'd say it's not bad. It's wide but winds down more than any run I've been to. It's a gentle wind definitely. But the chutes are much narrower than others. If I can do this chute anybody can! I'll see you there!
google avatar

Kelsey R.

Yelp
I loved Steamboat Ski Resort! For first time skiers/snowboarders- I would 100% practicing on the slopes at the bottom of the gondola before going up the mountain. The "Green" paths here were a little more intermediate than other places I have been to. A couple of our group members could not make it on these paths. The resort did however offer a free practice class for people who were unable to make it up on the green paths. So that was very nice I thought. My favorite green path was the one right off the gondola, it was probably the easiest one! Great resort. Had a good time.

Yelp
Steamboat Springs!!! One of the friendliest areas I've traveled to, and when the powder falls...the mountain is awesome! Mountain: Lots of acreage- blues, expert blues, black diamonds, and greens. Lines are short mid week but super busy starting Friday (standard for popular mountains) Restaurants/bars/Shops: This mountain offers several bars, ski shops, coffee shops , a candy shop , live music, and outdoor seating near fire pits facing the slopes... Transportation: There is a bus route that serves the mountain, a gondola that comes in from the local housing just at the base of the mountain, local hotels offer shuttle service and if you've rented a corporate house on the mountain they offer car service... Lodges: Several lodges can be found across the mountain, so if you get tired, or thirsty there's a few options you can choose from. I ate at all three, the food is good, and you can choose between cafeteria style, restaurant higher end food, or a quick sandwich. You can also bring your own food, but I recommend the Four Points lodge and the delicious food offered there. Meet up with friends, family or a fun getaway with your heart throb... this place is awesome. Note*** -Military discount is offered- must show your military ID. -It's better to buy your tickets early/online (unless you're military looking for the military discount) -Look online for any good deals you can get

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous terrain, snow quality was allllllllright the weekend I was there - but overall I really had a great time riding at steamboat. The only downside is that it's SUCH a long drive to get to. Highly recommend checking out the hot spring if you're in town too!

Yelp
Steamboat Ski Resort is my all time favorite Ski Resort! Of course I am biased because this is where I learned to ski in 2001. Yes I am a late bloomer but I have progressed over the years enough to enjoy all ski areas of Steamboat even the backside in Morningside Park. My favorite runs are on Storm Peak. Also this is a great Family Resort with an awesome Ski and Snowboard School! All the Staff are so helpful and considerate. This Mountain has runs for all skier levels. Steamboat's Champagne Powder creates the most enjoyable ski experience! Steamboat I would give you 20 Stars but I can't, you earn 5 Stars Plus in my book!!!! Thanks Steamboat!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Organization!!!! Systems galore make this resort work. Businesses work in harmony to make this ski area super friendly and a great choice for your ski trip and family vacation. I took my 4 year old here for his first ski experience. He learned to ski in 5 days.

Yelp
There's a reason this place is called Ski Town, USA. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Ski school for the kids, gondola rides for $25 (all day til 4pm) for the non-skiers/snowboarders. They have plans for gondola replacement, so next season it could be different. Would buy lift tickets in advance for a discount next time. We rented equipment in town for the kids, helmets too. Where we stayed they offered free shuttles to the mountain, into town, all over- fast and free. Such a fun trip, hope to be back soon.

Yelp
Steamboat is such a fun mountain -- especially for spring skiing. Be prepared -- the mountain has very little challenging terrain and it becomes very boring after a few days. The blues are super fun for fast cruisers and the in mountain dining is pretty good. We love The Taco Beast!! Very family friendly -- and lots of fun terrain for little kids. And amazing tree skiing if you like that sort of thing. I give it a three only because we like more challenging terrain. If you are a green/blue skier this is the place! Also -- and a benefit -- it's a very casual mountain. Everyone is happy and enjoying the sport. No fashion shows allowed ... unless you are talking about spring skiing attire. Leave the Bogner, Jus, and Skea with fue at home!

Alissa K.

Yelp
Kudos to Julian (originally from Monterey, Mexico) for being so helpful as I was buying a lift ticket for the first time on my ski trip to Steamboat Springs last week. He helped me discover a discount I hadn't known about, and made the check in process so easy!

Yelp
Ski School review: As a "Never-Ever" student I was blessed with T.K. Aka Grandpa as my teacher. Along with 5 other adult students, adopted grandkids, we were taken to a more remote bunny hill and taught all the basics. Stop, turn, poles, and his favorite F word: Forward! We had lunch at a great little spot I would have never known about. Then we hit the green slopes. We learned entry & exit of gondolas and putting our new skills to work. It was an excellent class. I SKIIED!!!!! I'm so very excited. Grandpa helped and kept an eye on the weaker skiers (cough, me, cough). He was kind, funny, knowledgeable, and patient. 1. Grandpa should get a raise, because he is the best. 2. Go to class and do everything to get him as your teacher. You won't regret it.

Janice P.

Yelp
Beware when booking Steamboat lift tickets. Steamboat Mountain Activities will not honor insurance. They'll gladly take your money (they are real expensive) but will resist any attempt to work with you to the extent you are unable to visit Steamboat. Instead go to another mountain resort in CO (or elsewhere). There are much better mountains with staff that are willing to work with you. Very disappointed with Steamboat
google avatar

Claire B.

Yelp
I love Steamboat and have been coming here for more than 20 years. The conditions are great & have spoiled me for any local skiing in the Midwest (as if there is any comparison). It's never too crowded and with the addition of the RFID lift passes have made the wait time shorter. At the end of the day, I look forward to seeing the Steamboat Ambassadors in their yellow jackets handing out hot chocolate and "champagne powder" donuts. I just got back and I can't wait until my next trip out there.
google avatar

Jesse B.

Yelp
Wonderful staff especially the lift operators. Worth the extra drive to avoid the lines and crowds at front range resorts. It is easy to navigate the mountain as you start on the Gondola or Christie Peak 3 and then go around. Not nearly the size of Vail or Beaver Creek but the snow is amazing on a powder day. The food at Ragnars is especially good for on-mountain. Lots of options for apres ski in the village. I really like the T-bar and Slopeside, which are just above the base village. They offer free parking and shuttles or a short walk. Champagne powder on runs such as closets & shadows is a wonderful experience.

Yelp
My first time in this ski resort. Lots of nice trails for all levels, and long hours of operation with some of the slopes illuminated for night skiing. The station has a gondola to take you mid way up and from there in other lifts to the summit . If you get tired and need a respite there's plenty of food and drinks options. Apres ski is always fun in any ski area. The town is a few miles down the road for other options I will try to make it back next season

Yelp
My fiance has been to Steamboat a couple of times and has always raved about how great it is. This trip I came along with him (and another friend) and we spent an entire week here. I will admit that by no means am I great at riding yet, still learning. This resort had great runs for me to learn on! I loved that there were plenty of blues that I could experience throughout the resort. We could also basically stay off of the greens, blue/blacks and blacks. For the first couple of days, we did not get any fresh snow and it was decently warm. Still, the conditions were good. We took the third day off and were able to spend time relaxing while shopping, being in the hot tub and dining. The third night, we got around 7 inches of fresh powder and wow was it great! I did not want to get off the slopes that or the next day! They did close the gondola and upper mountain lifts on our fifth day due to wind but there was still plenty of mid-mountain runs. Since Steamboat is further from Denver, the crowds are also smaller. Less time waiting in lift lines and easier to maneuver the mountain runs! The ski patrol does care about safety and chases down anyone that breaks the rules. The only complaint I have is that there is only one way to get down to the base and it is not ideal. It gets marked up rather badly and does not have the best conditions. We will definitely be coming back again!

Yelp
Telluride is "one of my favorite" resorts... THIS is my favorite resort in the United States. My brother and I came here on a whim after hearing great reviews from our friends. We trekked through a snow storm to get to the resort but the next morning was stunning... We woke up bright and early to try to get one of the first chairs. We found our way to the lift that took us to the top of the highest mountain. What we saw... Seclusion. We were two of six people on the lift. The trees from the night before had a dusting of almost powder sugar type snow. It looked almost painted on. The trees didn't look heavy or weighed down... It was stunning. I'll never forget that image. Below us was an untouched run of 6+ inches of powder! Upon arriving at the top of the lift, we strapped in and saw what could of been an angel. Ski patrol walked over to the roped off, untouched run under the ski lifts and unroped it.... We booked it over to the run and the next hour cruising down the run was one of the best times iver ever had. Powder up to my waist. Light and fluffy the Steamboatian's call their "Champagne Powder" unique to only that area in the US. I absolutely love this resort. My goal is to live here when I get older!
google avatar

Yelp
We live here and the way the locals get treated by the mountain breaks my heart, The Seniors rates increase yearly, NO perks for having a pass when it comes to get up for the Sunset rides/Hazies/ Anything.... Why can't they honor the people who work at the mountain, visit when it's NOT tourist season....buying a summer pass is something we do for our business, but god help you if you even TRY to get the "free" guest pass that comes with the purchase....what a run around...I'm not sure if they could make the "free ride" anymore difficult.... YUCK!!!

Yelp
We came saw and our hearts were conquered by this industry escape to a magnificent mountain and town tucked away in the gorgeous northwest part of the state of breathtaking big sky high country crisp air Colorado. Each day we were all filled with awe from the warm friendly helpful handsome people, stellar nature heaven views, perfect shredding gnars on fresh fallen piles of pow pow on steep bumpy paths, and so very often times green spicy chili gravy covered gourmet goodie mastication midnight madness after all the ski and board leg burner miles gearing up our appetites. Plenty of local brews and distilled tincture told their own tales too after the tally. We as huge fans of small and big bands alike bounced, stepped, ground against one another, gyrated, hustled, and grooved to every local and out of town talent touring through to showcase their tunes for our audible enjoyment during this years music festival featuring all our new favorite artists. Please please please make sure to bring back Casey Donahew, Ben Marshal and of course The Turnpike Troubadours. We saw Turnpike in the big tent then Ben at Schmiggity's and even had two step lessons there. I want to be there now! We have already booked our next years focal point for us to make sure we are here to partake in this American palace of winter and wonder! Thank you Steamboat Springs, Colorado for the memories with flair. Specifically appointment appreciation on to your resort Ambassador Anne of New York for all her guidance when a guy needed to find a way down a wide soft trail. Sweet lady. You need a raise. As some side notes or addendums to this essay, make sure you eat at Béseme and have a drink with Caesar and then also at Creekside Bar and Grille for breakfast badass bites or Italian gangster goodness insanity at Mambo. If you need winter gear go for the deals at Boomerang Sports Exchange. I got a baller pair of ski pants at a steal. I know my group of good friends along with us for this journey feel the same as we all were blessed to stay together in that big beautiful cabin. Cheers and blessing to travel and radical recollections. Honestly, just wrote this healthy humor homage to your organic free range home town because we had a helluva good time and hope to come back. #oilpatchproud ***no plastic straws were used to kill sea turtles in this locally sourced non gmo post

Yelp
My biggest issues with Steamboat as someone who lives and works in the community, is its lack of beginner terrain available to the public. Everything is for the Ski school and the huge crap show, that is every morning around the magic carpets. Ski school forbids the entry of anyone not in a lesson into the magic carpet areas, and forget about taking videos up close if you do manage to pay for a lesson, you need to stay outside the fenced area. While my son was in a lesson, helping him put his ski boots in the skis, was told by numerous ski school staff, that I could get them fired for being in here, and another stood right next to me while putting my son's skis on, just a disappointment, will forego ski school lessons again and go with steamboat winter sports club. Then all at the same time ski school goes over to the Christie lift inundating everyone in line, getting ready to get on the lift, and the public that are trying to teach their kids to ski. Yes I know Steamboat does have one magic carpet available to the public but oh wow it is not open early season, steamboat does not make nearly enough money to staff one person on the public magic carpet. Why is it so hard now to get a slow on the Christie lift, you ask a lift attendant and they look at you strange like it is a huge deal or point you in the direction of another lift attendant on the other side of the chairlift. who cant hear anything due to the chairlift running, you try hand signals, yelling, nothing. Steamboat needs to start taking better care of the people who live and work in the community, what if one year, we, the city of steamboat did not purchase any season's passes? how much money would they lose?

Yelp
Great tree runs, great pow, what more could I ask for? They don't have that many expert terrains, and some traverse terrains with a couple long cat walks that requires a lot of un strapping for snowboarders. But, the amazing powder and untouched areas makes this ski resort so much fun every time I'm here.

Yelp
Loved skiing in Steamboat Springs with my family. Large mountain, varied and great runs, excellent snow, many great easy to get to restaurants and outstanding staff. One of our favorite skiing locations. We enjoyed very friendly staff, short lift lines, minimal crowds and great time skiing despite being high-season over the winter holidays. The runs are long, varied terrain, and a great combination of blue and black runs. We will definitely be back...loved Steamboat!

Yelp
Throughout the years my family and I have become avid skiers, and tend to look for the best ski resorts in the United States whenever possible. In the Winter of 2020, we decided to visit Steamboat Ski Resort. It is located in Northern Colorado, and is known to have the best skiing along with the best town in the state of Colorado. Our expectations were high, and they were met exceedingly. The town and Ski resort were everything that a family could be looking for and more. Along with the variety levels of ski options, the area of Steamboat offered so much more in the aspects of art, music, food, and other snow activities. The town was filled with life from the endless variety of food, to the sound of the music festivals that filled the air every Friday night. It provided an escape for every member of my family, where everyone was constantly entertained and never faced with a dull moment.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my 2 days skiing Steamboat. I am by no means a seasoned skier, but I can hold my own on the greens! Steamboat got several inches of excellent fluffy powder to start off the weekend. And boy, do I know why they call it champagne powder! I started off with the preview run to hone a couple skills I needed to practice and then headed up the Christie Peak Express and followed several greens down the mountain. After a lunch break (LOVE the "ski in, ski out" restaurants and bars at the base of the mountain!) I hopped back on the Christie and did a couple connecting greens down to Thunderhead Express and rode that up to another group of greens. These runs were a bit narrower than what I experienced at Breckenridge. This was a bit intimidating at first, but turned out to be even funner and provided some great views. All in all it was a great day of skiing. I even spotted a couple elk in the distance! There were a few patches of packed/icy snow in the middle of the runs. Not too crowded; except of course right at the lifts. Resort employees were super friendly and you can tell enjoy their jobs. The guy at the first stop of the preview lift was hilarious! All in all I will definitely be back once I've had some more ski time under my belt, so I can take advantage of more that Steamboat has to offer! **Pro Tip: Like the resort on Facebook! They have some great pass promotions that pop up as the season gets closer!

Yelp
Massively overpriced ...... 200 bucks for a 4 year old? Look elsewhere ... I would look at other resorts in Colorado , New Mexico or Wyoming

Yelp
Its a moderately large ski/snowboard resort tucked all by itself in the North-western part of the Colorado Rockies. It has a "western" village in the downtown area while modern condos and hotels surrond the base of the resort. It is family oriented, and not so much ski bum or extreme terrain material. Where this place excells and stands alone is in the quantity and quality of the snow that falls upon this place. It is truly a litlle gift from heaven. I've been on ski trips all over the western US, and I've got to say that this is it. The best snow I've ever been lucky enough to glide on. It is like floating atop white clouds as white cold mist breezes by your face. It is a very silent and humbling experience, except for the other riders next to you, screaming and hollering with child-like exuberance. I also was guilty of that on many occasions. A local who shared a chairlift ride with us, discussed the nature of their "champagne powder". Snow systems come in that area after traveling the cold high plains and the moisture content of the snow dries out. It then hovers in their sheltered valley (not much wind) and dumps this soft, dry powder snow. It's so dry that you can't form a snowball, there's no moisture to keep it together, it'll just fall in between your fingers. It is cold as heck though (5-20 degrees f.) as you need that coldness to keep the snow dry. This trip also was first time I was able to ski with my dad in a while, at least 7 years. We both learned to ski together back when I was growing up, and I owe him my introduction into this sport. So to be reunited with the person who got me to ski, and that person is also someone who I value to spend quality time with, in one of the most unique snow experiences in North America. What more can I say than FIVE FUCKIN FANTASTIC STARS.

Yelp
I entered a booty shaking contest at one of the bars about two years ago and I was astonished by the fact that I lost. I shook my booty so hard that I ripped my pants in the crotch... Yeah, that is how hard I was grinding. The prize was a new pair of skis and I needed them... Sometimes, you gotta shake what the gym gives ya you know. What? Did you just ask who won? The girls who pretended to be lesbians of course... They always beat out everyone on the stage.... Even if I do try to pull out the Carmen Electra booty shake. Whatever. YEEEEHHHAA, welcome to true cowboy town... Good ol' Steamboat! Steamboat has amazing powder and even better tree skiing. The mountain is nowhere near the popular I-70 corridor, so not only do you not have the Denver crowds, but the tourists are not as heavy as some of the mountains. And although this might be bad for the owners, it makes people on the mountain happy. This cowboy town has a real neighborhood and local feel, and of course as I mentioned before, there are plenty of fun places to get your groove and rink on if that's your thing. If you like to have low key activities, well you have the hot springs of course, and you can ride up the gondola at night to go out to eat on the mountain, which is a tourist favorite. If you are driving to this resort from Denver there are a couple different ways you can go, but I just fell in love with Rabbit Ears Pass, with multiple perfect places for snow shoeing and cross country. * Star one is for offering booty shaking contests... Even if I didn't win... punks ** Yeehaa star two is for being a real cowboy town with a cowboy feel *** Watch out for that branch star three is for great tree skiing **** Not so crowded star four is for being off the beaten path ***** Superstar five is for all the famous Olympian's who have come from Steamboat... The most in the country! It has got to be something in the air

Yelp
CHAMPAGNE POWDER: the best kind of snow. Powder snow in Steamboat was different from what I was used to back in California. It was so soft and fluffy! Two days here was not enough. For the best conditions, my friends and I hung out around Sunshine and Storm Peaks. The blue and black diamond runs were great for snowboarders. We stayed local to the upper half of the mountain, only heading down past Thunderhead Peak for lunch or at the end of the day. We found the runs icy and hard-packed near the base area. Also, beware of the green runs. They were long, flat traverses. No fun for snowboarders. Steamboat had the best on-mountain food I've ever had. My favorite lunch spot was Hazie's, a fine dining restaurant in Thunderhead lodge at the top of the Gondola. Their gourmet soup and salad bar was all-you-can-eat for $15. They also had unforgettable views of Steamboat's village and valley below. Steamboat had both free and paid parking options. To be closer to the village, we opted to pay the $15 for garage parking. Tickets were regularly $97 per day for adults. Since we were in Colorado multiple days, we bought a 4 by 40 pass for $199 that was good for two days at Winter Park and two days at Steamboat. A great deal! Overall, I can't wait to come back again. A very memorable trip.

Yelp
I skied here on Saturday and had such a great time! The one bad thing I would say about this ski resort is that a left ticket for an adult was $215 and I think that is beyond crazy for a lift ticket. Also, you have to pay for parking all over the resort so that just brings up the price of the whole day. The resort doesn't get as crowded as other resorts off of I-70.

Yelp
Not a skier, but I have loads of friends who do. I went on an annual trip with a few hundred friends I knew and never met in Mid December. One of the days some of us Non Skier types decided to meet the skiers at the top of the slopes for lunch. It's in interesting place in general, tons of shopping and restaurants lots of people watching which filled me with glee. I just love a good dose of watching people in large groups coexisting. The one thing that I can tell you is a complete rip off is going up to the ski lodge if you are not skiing. 20.00 to ride the lift. That's just way too much in my opinion. They do give you a 10.00 off coupon for the restaurants at the top. So this makes the 17.00 burger only 7.00 when in reality you paid 27.000 for it!!!!! Next time they meet us at the bottom of the slopes!!!

Yelp
Even when the snow is crappy Steamboat is still my favorite resort / resort ski town! (Tied with Da Butte, Crested Butte) The Gondola is awesome! Gotta love that when there's a line, 8 people go in and 8 people go up with nearly every load. The line is always moving! They're well organized and clearly the have their **** together. Fortunately though once they clear out the morning rush, you won't find yourself in a line very often! Lifts and lift lines are always setup in a way that makes them easily accessible! Ski right up, hop right on! Trivia of the day, why yes please! The answer is "Maryland!" Also the on resort restaurants are pretty good and always helpful. The cooks at the top of the Gondola have even been known to warm up a brown bag lunch or two just to be nice. But you can always heat up your own lunch in one of the publicly available microwaves. Score 1 SB! The on mountain shopping is really well priced. I got a couple of REALLY nice hoody sweatshirts for $5 bucks on sale! (I think they were normally $35) Facilities are clean and well maintained, with a little room for improvement but not much. People here are the best too, always helpful and always friendly. Great night life, this place is the entire package! ?sekal larutan on sah etats hcihW

Yelp
Man. I forgot just how big this mountain is. It is deceiving from the highway as you enter into the valley where Steamboat resides, but don't be fooled. This hill provides a ton of vertical, and terrain that will challenge every level of skier. There is also plenty of spots around the hill to grab a hot chocolate or bloody mary, and the base has a number of good pubs for your après ski needs. I don't mind giving Steamboat the 5 star treatment, because it really is a great resort. For out of towners (which most on the hill are, as this is a destination resort), there is plenty of lodging at the base of the hill. I, however, would recommend finding a place in downtown Steamboat. There is much more nightlife, and shuttle buses run on frequent intervals from the town to the base of the mountain, eliminating any long walks in bulky gear.
