This is a nice little spot... the wait staff are very kind and warm... the food is really quite good... though artisan bread is hard to cut up and can be too chewy for eggs on toast. The coffee... well..... the coffee served here follows a popular trend in coffee across the UK... namely, the use of beans from places like Ethiopia... where the flavour is very sour. I am very much NOT a fan of modern, sour blends. So I couldn't have hated it more. I prefer bitter Italian style.

Amazing food, many great options for brunch or lunch and reasonably priced! Delicious coffee too. The Finnieston eggs was absolutely delightful. Friendly staff and the service was quite quick, i will definitely be coming back to this place!

Lovely cozy place with great coffee. Especially the espresso beans were nice. Will definitely be back if I'm in Glasgow. The guy in the shop were sweet enough to recommend me his favourite. Nice lighting, cups and atmosphere.

One of my favorite places in all of Glasgow! Rachel is the friendliest barista I've ever met! The atmosphere is comforting-very much like sitting on your own kitchen, but better decorated and you don't have to do your own dishes ;) And they have guitars to play with if you're in the musical mood.

We had the most delicious breakfast - the very best on our trip to Glasgow. Very reasonable prices and one more thing.... The coffee is GREAT!!! ☕

Google
Excellent decor and that's it. Did not enjoy their hot chocolate or their cakes or their latte. I hope I find what the other great reviews are about on my next visit.

Coffee lovers must have this experience. Cosy shop with some relaxing space. Very very very good staffs. Plenty of coffee beans are available and show around the shop. Different choices of coffee and tea are now ready to taste. I'll come back here again and again.

Yelp
After walking by 15173637 times, finally I tried out the Steamie and I'm so glad I did. Staff was lovely, interior cute and the food absolutely incredible. My friend and I both got the full breakfast (big yin) and they're fine to swap some things out you might not like (black pudding for a hashbrown? heck yes). The breakfast was massive and neither of us managed to eat it all but wow! so good!!! Will be back soon!

Yelp
The first time I visited The Steamie we got off on the wrong foot. It was busy, there was a large group talking loudly at the nearest table as I walked in. Since there's no real counter to approach I just hovered near the door for a while, trying to figure out who I was supposed to give my coffee order to. I waited a while, feeling ignored, before leaving in a bad mood, muttering to myself about "hipster nonsense." Problem is, as I passed fairly regularly, it did always seem to have people in it. They always seemed happy. Eventually I decided to give it another chance. This time it was quieter, I was immediately welcomed and after ordering I was served a very smooth latte. I got comfy with my book and I honestly think I could have stayed there reading it all day, without anyone minding. I didn't try the cakes but they look really, really good, so that's something to come back for. I still think that the counter-less set up is a bit weird, but they do make it work when things aren't too busy.

Yelp
Lovely little coffee shop with the most amazing sandwiches. Great menu choices and vegan/ vegetarian options. Fantastic ambiance with a nice rustic feel .

Yelp
Fell in love with this coffee shop immediately. Places like The Steamie are a dime a dozen in NYC, but you can bet I pay dearly for it back home. Here, I got away with a delicious flat white - possibly the best I've ever had - a huge, tasty bowl of porridge that I couldn't even finish, and a yummy chocolate cherry brownie for around £8 total. Super friendly service and FYI there's an ATM across the street, as it's cash only. Wish I could move in here.

Yelp
Ahhh Finnieston, what a wonderful little area, with one street abuzz on a Saturday morning. I had walked past a few other places but spotted a seat in the window and decided to try my luck. Inside it's a ramshackle cosy space, full of antiques and junk, wonderful quirky decor. There isn't a counter as such, so just wander to the rear and someone will take your order. One flat white and a cherry brownie for me! I plonked myself down and sat listening to 6Music and took in my surroundings but it wasn't long before my coffee and cake arrived. And ohhh what a lovely slice of deliciousness, rich chocolate with a sticky gooey middle with a generous chunk or two of cherry hidden away waiting to surprise you. I very nearly ordered a second slice! The coffee was ok, not the best I've had but far from the worse, and looking round the food being brought out to the other customers, it might be a good (if small) spot for brunch/lunch some time. Yup, fair to say I'm a fan and if I'm in this area it's my new go to place. Ohhh yeah, dog friendly too, bonus! (I don't have a dog, but got to say hi to a lovely young golden retriever).

Yelp
This is Finnieston's newest addition, and being a coffee shop it's bringing something a little different to the area - which is mostly restaurants and bars. I was sad to see the Cupcakery close but the barista assured me this is the same people, they just decided it was time for a change. I love the decor - it's very open and inviting, and a little shabby-chic without being crappy. While I was sitting there I had flashbacks to Artisan Roast in Brunstfield, Edinburgh - the reason being is that Artisan Roast did the decor design here too. Whoever did it, it works. I grabbed a seat and ordered a tea from the tasty selection (TeaPigs!), and had a bag of vegetable crisps too. It was a great place to hang out for half an hour or so while I took a call, and I enjoyed the chilled out vibe. The barista working was super friendly and welcoming and prices are reasonable. There was a big range of sweet treats which I didn't try so I guess I'll have to go back just for that reason...

Yelp
Out in Finnieston the other day when the heavens opened and the Steamie, open for just three days at that point, appeared through the sheet of water and looked like the perfect place to shelter with a coffee. Cosy, warm, lots of wood and cool lighting - and super friendly. Looks like an outpost of Artisan Roast - and apparently it is independent but AR is involved. If the aesthetic didn't give it away, the place stocks AR coffee, cakes and bread. Food is simple - alongside cakes they have bagels, toast, yogurt and granola and do sandwiches at lunch. They will be open later in the evening than some other places - I think he mentioned 6 or 7pm but can't remember which! I only had a cappuccino and a chat with the guy running the place but the service was warm and friendly and the coffee was excellent. Competition for the also excellent CC&T a block along and The Hidden Lane Cafe but a great addition to the local area.

Yelp
What a strange little coffee shop I don't think I've ever been in somewhere that doesn't have a serving counter, the staff make the coffee on the left hand side as you walk in making it look like they are just customers helping themselves ...... But you know what .... I love it .... It's so relaxed and chilled, not taking itself serious or pandering to coffee shop stereotypes Bob Dylan drifting effortlessly over the clinking crockery, mellowing you out with each sip of coffee and allowing your daily worries to evaporate quicker than a raindrop in the Sahara Ordered a flat white and a lemon blueberry cake The cake was amazing, soft fluffy yet gooey when eaten, sweetness of the lemon icing balanced perfectly with the sharpness of the fresh blueberries Coffee came Luke warm so had to ask for it to be reheated, the guy was lovey and made a fresh one One little blip in a wonderful chilled place I will be back again and again

Yelp
I went here for brunch.. i ordered the colombian skillet and french toast..both of them taste good!! Staff were friendly! CONCLUSION = RECOMMENDED!!

Yelp
Living just around the corner this has to be my favourite coffee shop. The Anderson area it's plentiful with eateries, coffee outlets new take aways all the time. I had been away for two weeks and in that time this place popped up out of nowhere, there a cosy atmosphere that makes you feel your in someone's house. A good selection of cakes, freshly made soup & light snacks I often find myself wondering in here I do see myself regularly coming here due to the location, with great tasting coffee these guys are sure on a winner.

Yelp
The Steamie is a GREAT place in so many ways. For starters, they have incredible coffee--just divine. I pride myself on knowing what a good latte is--I've had many lattes in two of the cafe capitals of the US--NYC and LA and thus feel that I have strong and good points of comparison for coffee I consume. The Steamie's coffees are delicious--their lattes are smooth (this is big with me) not at all grainy, and the taste is lovely--sometimes I put a little bit of sugar in and others time none at all, the flavor of the coffee is so good and rich, it really doesn't need a drop. I always feel uplifted after having a cup of their coffee. The Steamie also has some lovely baked goods. I'm a fan of the yellow poppy cake with icing--I have had it twice and it didn't disappoint. The only baked item that I had that I wasn't as thrilled about was the item that looks a bit like a brownie. It's not really a brownie--at least not the ones that I am used to that are chewy and soft and quite chocolatey. This one wasn't bad but just not the same consistency of the traditional brownie. (It tasted like there was a butter substitute used--perhaps to make it a vegan item?). I do enjoy vegan food and baked goods but that particular item wasn't my cup of tea. The food has always looked good to me though I have never ordered as I usually come into Steamie's for coffee and cake and with an article that I have to read or a book in hand. The hot chocolates are wonderful as well! I am not as much a fan of white chocolate but I went for one of their dark chocolate ones and it was heavenly--so delicious--worth every penny! The seating is sort of interesting in itself as it is eclectic--seats of different sizes and types and cushions lining the long bench that runs along the wall...A bit bohemian and part of the charm of the place! Though I've never gone in a group larger than two, I would say Steamie could cater to small groups of 3--maximum 4 and 4 may be pushing it if they are busy that day. It's a great spot when you are a soloist during that time. It's cozy and filled with their lovely coffee's aroma. As has been mentioned in other reviews, there is no coffee counter in Steamie. The staff are restricted in where they make their coffee though they seem to have figured out a good system. The lack of counter space for the staff doesn't affect the atmosphere in anyway. You should not be perturbed by this. I must add that the Steamie's has a lovely staff! I have never been met with anything but a kind greeting and have always received a bit of guidance when I needed it when it comes to their coffee or cake selections and their drink options. I received a tremendous amount of help from one of the female staff who guided me through the beans that Steamie has on sale in the shop. She was extremely knowledgable in the distinctions from one set of beans to the next and was able to advise me in purchasing the right gift for my heavy coffee drinking friend (who ultimately loved the choice I brought to him). So I'd call The Steamie an all around winner. If you are in the neighborhood, make sure to make a stop there.

Yelp
Am here on a warm winter day for a light lunch and coffee. Loving the vibe of this simple cafe! I'm not the biggest fan of their coffee but their £2 soup with bread is delicious and affordable! Staff are friendly and the cafe is cute! I expect to be here more often :)

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Met a friend here for a mid day catch up over coffee and it was a really great place. I'd never been and since my friend has just moved to finneston, we figured we'd give it ago to introduce her to some spots in the area. We walked in and were greeted by some friendly faces. We took a seat in the window with loads of sun shining in. There's no rhyme or reason to how to place your order- or we didn't notice one anyway, so we went up to where the coffee machine was and placed our order there. I ordered a mocha and a piece of lemon and blueberry cake. My friend just ordered a black coffee which she said was perfect. The mocha I ordered was delicious but I never received my cake. To be honest, I was totally ok with that as it was sign I wasn't meant to be eating it anyway!! Next time we're in, I'll try it anyway. I noticed while we were chatting that they offer a brunch menu that looked quite nice. There are also loads of other baked goods and a good line up of coffees to boot. I can't wait to go back to this wee cozy spot in finneston!

Eleanor C.

Yelp
I absolutely love this gem of a place. The interior has a worn but loved look that always welcomes you in. The staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to offer a recommendation or watch your dog if you have to top up your parking meter. But the best thing about this place is the coffee. The coffee is fresh and hot but most importantly it's carefully made so that you really feel like you are walking away with something special to sip on. The steamie is one of the best things going for Finnestion.

Becca W.

Yelp
I've not been here for ages and I have thought about the amazing cherry brownie I had there the last time quite a lot! If I remember correctly it was one of the softest most rich chocolate brownies I've had in a long time. I enjoyed it a lot! It's about 5 minutes from my work and 15 from my flat, so the temptation to go all the time is very high. Bad for my belly!! The hot drinks menu is pretty good, I always want to try some kind of hot chocolate but I've only ever had tea or a skinny latte. Both of which I'd have again. I know tea is just tea, but I think they use Teapigs which I'm a fan of! It's really small and some might find it cramped but I love the cosey, relaxed feel to the place. I never ever sit and eat or have a coffee on my own (I don't know why, I just feel a bit odd!) but I'd quite comfortably do it in here as it's so chilled out and welcoming. Try here and forget you're average Starbucks next time you're looking for a coffee stop that's a bit different.

Karl S.

Yelp
@the_steamie ticks all my boxes. No wifi. Coffee so good that I am willing to wait. Whats the rush, chill chat and I love the open flow of things, no counter between you and the staff!!!! Nothing beats it. Its my go to spot, I am willing to travel from the Southside to Finnieston for the coffee and chats!

Nicola C.

Yelp
The Steamie is rustic and kitsch; warm, inviting and relaxed. It may have been a crisp and cold autumn day but the Steamie's smooth, smooth coffee soon warmed me up. I visited with my parents but I'd just love to spend a Sunday afternoon with a stream of luscious hot drinks and my nose in a very good book. Going by the hot chocolate selection alone, that would be the stuff of dreams. Quirky touches like the full bookshelves and the suitable old school tunes are lovely little additions and set the tone just right. The counter is right at the heart of the cafe, and the tables and chairs, mismatched as they are, all blend into one due to spacial constraints. But this is no bad thing; it's just the kind of place that will make you want to spark up a conversation with the person next to you. - I certainly felt comfortable enough to do so! With a cake selection that had me drooling, I will just have to come back to try the Steamie's sweet offerings. But, for now...I'm a fan!

Sara M.

Yelp
First visit to The Steamie and it's a a thumbs up from me. There are lots of cafes in Finnieston but I think The Steamie is the kind of place you'd go to if you want to sit and relax for a while, maybe read your book, with a good coffee and some reasonably priced food. There's seating for about 25 and you don't have the long queue of takeaway patrons which can make a cafe feel hectic. It has a similar atmosphere to Artisan Roast on Gibson Street which I gather has some connection, they use their coffee anyway. On my first visit I had the mozarrella, pesto and tomato panini. The bread was good quality, crusty on the outside and airy in the middle, none of that half baked nonsense that arrives flat and carboardy. A very tasty sandwich. I also tried the chocolate cherry brownie which was deliciously rich and gooey, as a brownie should be. They do homemade soup and bread for £2, a selection of cakes and biscuits and a small selection of sandwiches for £4. I'm not a coffee drinker but they did look good. I'll be back here soon to try the organic hazelnut hot chocolate and probably some more cake!

Jeevan M.

Yelp
I know, I know Hipster right? Well weesht yer maw! No more of that H-word! I really like the old school, relaxed vibe in here. The mish mashed furniture and worn floors, the lack of WiFi & chilled music all play a part in making this place I could really relax in (apart from the occasional hiss & bangs as coffee is made). I love that there's no counter, it makes it feel much friendlier. I enjoyed the coffee, not too strong, but still full of flavour, at £2 for a long black I was happy. I didn't have time to linger too long as they were beginning to close up. All the sweet stuff looks good, I can't comment further as I only had coffee. The shop sells bags of coffee and tea as well as bars of organic chocolate (they also sell Tunnock's Caramel Logs for the extra point). The owner was really friendly & polite, chatting away with friends when there was no coffee to be made. I was a little wary of this place as yes the H-word does spring to mind as you walk past, but this place is so chilled & friendly that I'll be back, even if it's only during its quieter times

Ryan W.

Yelp
Okay, okay so this is a coffee shop and I've not had any coffee there. BUT what I have had is THE most amazing chocolate cherry brownie I've ever had in my life. British brownies (in my experience) are dry, bland and boring---this is moist, rich and totally warrants it's very own Yelp review! I'll definitely be back for more off the back of this brownie as there was a selection of cakes and other goodies as well as breakfast items and paninis.

Sadie M.

Yelp
I spent a lovely afternoon in here with a friend this week and had a pretty lovely time. The tea was tasty, the cake delicious and the atmosphere very chilled out. Perfect for a sunny afternoon! When we arrived there were just a few other customers in which wouldn't have made a regular cafe look busy but as The Steamie is quite petite we worried about getting a seat. However when we looked around we saw plenty of places to park ourselves so ordered our drinks and cake and sat down for a blether. Probably it wouldn't be great for large groups of people, but for two or three pals it's just the right size. The member of staff who waited on us was very pleasant, happy to stop to answer our questions about the items on offer but didn't intrude or make us feel uncomfortable despite our camping out there for a couple of hours. The only reason this was a four star review rather than five stars was that the server forgot the cake that we asked for, but she more than made it up to us when she offered us some delicious treats at the end of the day free of charge. We had some kind of chocolate fudge cake and a piece of seed loaf with butter, both were very tasty! The decor is relaxed. It feels like the refurbished furniture shop next door has spilled over a bit with mismatched chairs and upcycled tables, chalkboards on the walls and plenty of space with room for local artists' work to be displayed. The door was open the whole time we were there and there was lots of passing trade as well as some locals who popped in to say hello - all in all a very welcoming place. I'll definitely be back! I'd love to try their soup next time.

Diana S.

Yelp
The rose and vanilla hot chocolate was truly impressive. The service was also very friendly, with the server available to answer many questions from two of us.

Anne Marie S.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee, great atmosphere, lovely staff and the cakes...what can I say about the lemon and blueberry cake? It is the first time I have eaten a cake that tasted as good as it looked. This is what a coffee shop should be like. Love it.

Jeff H.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and I've been satisfied both times. Good coffee, nice selection of baked goods. Very cool interior, friendly atmosphere.

Hannah B.

Yelp
I have been trying to review it on trip advisor but cant find it.. they need to get on it... place is amazing!! very tasteful quirky style. I had a hot chocolate which I have recently found the brand of and used at home, i also had a slice of the nutella chocolate roll which was equally delicious! very inspiring and interesting place. please visit and support!!

Bernard T.

Yelp
Great service and lots of cakes and drink choices to choose from. The set up of the cafe is welcoming and the owners are friendly and would provide great recommendations to try.

Lucy C.

Yelp
Unfortunately I was dismayed at being charged £15 for 2 coffees and 3 cakes. The coffee was exceptionally strong and served in a doll size cup. The cake was lovely but overpriced. It would have been cheaper (and more comfortable) to have gone to Costa. If only there had been one nearby. Also struggled to get in and out of the door. The man that served us was lovely however.

John D M.

Yelp
I can't add a great deal to Briony C's review, which I fully agree with. Nice place, nice decor without being outright like a junk shop, nice beardy chap serving the drinks. I sat at the wee window counter and enjoyed watching trendy Finnieston go by.

Robin S.

Yelp
This cafe was our favorite find in all of Glasgow. We sampled porridge and a toastie, both of which were delicious. The barista was friendly and kind with everyone who came in, many of whom were clearly regulars. If we had more time in Glasgow, we'd be back every single day.

Lor E.

Yelp
The coffee is very good and hallelujah the espresso was served neat Italian style. They roast their own beans too. The range of cakes is tempting, so don't go there if you are counting calories or steel yourself and stick to the soup of the day!
