10 Best Craft Beer Spots in Vancouver | Condé Nast Traveler

"When it opened in 1995, Steamworks, a huge and handsome brew pub, was one of the first to really carry the craft beer torch. Ever since, it has become a Vancouver destination for beer lovers of all stripes, including those who have recently caught onto the trend. You’ll find lots of original beers, including an easy-drinking Czech-style pilsner to the very sturdy Black Angel India Pale Ale, which offers a strong, hoppy taste that’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Steamworks is a full-service restaurant with a menu that generally hews toward hearty, pub-style staples like burgers, wings, and pasta. But if you’re in the mood for something more, there are plenty of other options, including an Expense Account Steak, a 12-ounce strip accompanied by a prawn skewer, mushrooms, and garlic toast for CDN$50 ($38)." - Guy Saddy

I’ve been to this amazing place so many times since 2021! This year, I finally got to share it with my family, and they absolutely loved it too. The food is delicious, the beers and drinks are fantastic and the staff is amazing. Liam is the best bartender ever—a true legend in a legendary spot. I’ve explored Steamworks from the top to the bottom, in almost every area. Each spot has its own unique vibe. If you’re travelling solo, I’d suggest sitting at one of the bars and you’ll meet some interesting people. When you’re in Vancouver, Steamworks in downtown is definitely a must-visit.

This restaurant is huge inside, didn't realize there was a down stairs area and separate rooms. It was very busy but they always had space for walk ins with minimal wait time when other restaurants in the area have a long wait, this is a great go to place. Nicely decorated inside, great atmosphere, and their beer soup is surprisingly good. Fish and chips and burgers were ok.

I've been to this place in years past and thought that the seafood pasta and other fare was decent. But this time the server suggested the salmon risotto and... I thought it was overpriced for the portion size as there was not enough rice. I ended up having to order extra onion rings to compensate. A VIP beside me said that their steak was cold, and I overheard from others that the burgers were dry. I am not sure what is happening, but it is difficult to recommend or go back to this place after this experience.

Great service and nice staff. The atmosphere is amazing. This is one of the largest restaurants in downtown Vancouver with so much potential and great views. I like their beer too, the IPA was great. The only issue was the burger. It was bad, really really bad!! Sorry guys but it was the worst burger I've had in years, tasteless. The seafood chowder soup was good.

I had a fantastic experience at Steamworks Brewpub. The Strawberry Spritz was absolutely perfect, refreshing, balanced, and full of flavor. It quickly became one of my favorite drinks, and I truly enjoyed every sip. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

Absolutely the spot to start your evening in Vancouver! 🍺 Grab a seat at the bar and let Liam, the fantastic bartender, guide you through some amazing local brews. I tried a few standout IPAs, while my wife went for the Grapefruit Radler, a superbly fresh, fruity beer she enjoyed over ice. Don’t go for the regular wine but let the ladies try the excellents options, sweet and refreshing. Liam’s warm energy and great recommendations convinced us to stay for dinner, and we ended up having a wonderful evening just steps away from Waterfront Station. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good beer, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere! We took the steak and gorgonzola and fish and chips. Great taste!

Just want to say that I was actually kinda blown away by how good the pizza was. Highly recommend that if nothing else! Nice and spacious pub to grab some more affordable food in an otherwise expensive and hard-to-book area.

Sure! Here’s a polished version of your experience, tailored for a Google review: --- 🌧️ Rainy afternoon in Vancouver led me to explore Gastown, where I stumbled upon the original steam brewery. Decided to pop in and try their happy hour specials—Lion Gate Lager and a sleeve of Pale Ale. Both had distinct character: the lager was crisp and lightly hopped, while the pale ale offered a refreshing citrusy kick. Cozy spot with great brews to brighten a grey day. --- Would you like to add anything about the vibe, service, or whether Corona joined you?
