10 Best Craft Beer Spots in Vancouver | Condé Nast Traveler

"When it opened in 1995, Steamworks, a huge and handsome brew pub, was one of the first to really carry the craft beer torch. Ever since, it has become a Vancouver destination for beer lovers of all stripes, including those who have recently caught onto the trend. You’ll find lots of original beers, including an easy-drinking Czech-style pilsner to the very sturdy Black Angel India Pale Ale, which offers a strong, hoppy taste that’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Steamworks is a full-service restaurant with a menu that generally hews toward hearty, pub-style staples like burgers, wings, and pasta. But if you’re in the mood for something more, there are plenty of other options, including an Expense Account Steak, a 12-ounce strip accompanied by a prawn skewer, mushrooms, and garlic toast for CDN$50 ($38)." - Guy Saddy

I’ve been to this amazing place so many times since 2021! This year, I finally got to share it with my family, and they absolutely loved it too. The food is delicious, the beers and drinks are fantastic and the staff is amazing. Liam is the best bartender ever—a true legend in a legendary spot. I’ve explored Steamworks from the top to the bottom, in almost every area. Each spot has its own unique vibe. If you’re travelling solo, I’d suggest sitting at one of the bars and you’ll meet some interesting people. When you’re in Vancouver, Steamworks in downtown is definitely a must-visit.

Just want to say that I was actually kinda blown away by how good the pizza was. Highly recommend that if nothing else! Nice and spacious pub to grab some more affordable food in an otherwise expensive and hard-to-book area.

Great service even considering how incredibly busy their were. These guys really know how to handle a big crowd! Just had finger food and a salad. Great selection on tap and wow....what a great Ceasar.

Sure! Here’s a polished version of your experience, tailored for a Google review: --- 🌧️ Rainy afternoon in Vancouver led me to explore Gastown, where I stumbled upon the original steam brewery. Decided to pop in and try their happy hour specials—Lion Gate Lager and a sleeve of Pale Ale. Both had distinct character: the lager was crisp and lightly hopped, while the pale ale offered a refreshing citrusy kick. Cozy spot with great brews to brighten a grey day. --- Would you like to add anything about the vibe, service, or whether Corona joined you?

I wasn't expecting how big this restaurant/bar would be! They have great beers and food. Although I only tried the beer soup which was phenomenal, but really wish I got to try the chorizo jambalaya as well as the risotto. For the beer, I really enjoyed the gummy sour

Absolutely the spot to start your evening in Vancouver! 🍺 Grab a seat at the bar and let Liam, the fantastic bartender, guide you through some amazing local brews. I tried a few standout IPAs, while my wife went for the Grapefruit Radler, a superbly fresh, fruity beer she enjoyed over ice. Don’t go for the regular wine but let the ladies try the excellents options, sweet and refreshing. Liam’s warm energy and great recommendations convinced us to stay for dinner, and we ended up having a wonderful evening just steps away from Waterfront Station. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good beer, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere! We took the steak and gorgonzola and fish and chips. Great taste!

The first time I came here was 6.5 years ago with my brother. We really enjoyed our visit. On Halloween this year I brought my husband. We had maple old fashioned and shared a giant soft pretzel with mustard and dill sauce. Its still cosy and inviting.

Great beer, really liked the stout. Food also good though the Tuna Poke Bowl was much smaller than other restaurants. Huge place, indoor & outdoor seating with heating. Brewery tanks on display near the kitchen downstairs.
