How to Explore Ludington, Michigan

"A totally free, walkable beach right from downtown where we set up with snacks, people-watched, and even played shuffleboard on the free courts by the sand; the sand is soft, the vibe is laid-back, and the water is that endless deep blue that makes you forget you’re not at the ocean." - Matthew Kepnes

Love coming here. Definitely go in you're in the area. Watch the Badger come in. Play ground for kids. Concerts in summer. Clean and have bathrooms. Walking distance to much more. Food and ice cream are great also.

A beautiful park on the beach where you swim, sunbathe and can go on a healthy walk on the path to the lighthouse. We eloped here for 2 days during the heat wave last weekend.

Sunset is absolutely beautiful here. The beach is mostly accessible for wheelchairs. It was not too crowded and plenty of space dedicated to swimming.

Best beach in Michigan ☺️ Gorgeous sand beach (very accessible with paths down the sand!), clear water, beautiful sunsets, and plenty of parking. I will always come back here to enjoy Lake Michigan!

Nice big beach with two cantina to purchase food and snacks. One of which sells beer and bottled cocktails. Clean restrooms. Park is patrolled throughout the day. It also has a nice grassy shaded area for picnics, putt putt golf, skateboard park, volleyball nets, as well as the break wall to walk out to the channel marker lighthouse.

Beautiful memorial here. The beach across road they had a bonfire and band playing. Love the walkway to beach each panel is donation with names and saying on. Toy box there with sand toys. Well kept up.

Yelp
Is parking to the beach suggest you get there early. Two pavilions with food and restrooms. They have handicap accessible mats all the way down from parking lot to the water. There is a pier to walk and a good 1/2 mile of sandy beach to walk. Have not seen any sharks and there is zero salt in the water. Win win for today!

Yelp
We had a lot of fun at Stearns Park Beach. This was the closest beach to our hotel, so it was the first beach we visited in Ludington. It was perfect for us. The sand on the beach is super clean, the waves were abundant but not overwhelming, there's a concession stand just steps from the parking lot, the parking lot has lots of parking spaces, and there's a playground and mini golf course not far away. This is pretty much the perfect place to stay and play and enjoy the beach in Ludington. The concession stand sells ice cream and other treats, but you can also rent boogie boards during the summer season, and purchase things like shovels and tools to build sandcastles. This is important, because the sand at this beach is very good for building sand castles. A short walk away is the pier where you can see the SS Badger depart and arrive each day. Stearns Park Beach has a lot of stuff going on! If you're looking for a laid-back place to enjoy the Lake Michigan beach and enjoy the town of Ludington, then this is the place.

Yelp
My hubby and I traveled to Ludington just for this beach experience! I have a disability and this beach offers a ramp that goes all the way from the parking lot to the water! I cannot emphasize how awesome this was for me! We were able to find a great spot where we could hear the water! I must admit, I slept the entire time we were there. It was so relaxing! Avoid the middle section of the beach if you don't like crowds. Head to the northern end if you want some peace and quiet. It is a clean beach. Be aware there are only a few handicapped spots so you may need to drop off your disabled traveler before parking. Get there early to get the best spot.

Yelp
A very long beach along Ludington's coast. It is also very beautiful, with lots of benches. I appreciate benches. This is a great place to relax and soak in the sun. A place to do Yoga, no thanks. A wonderful place to watch the sunset! A place you can enjoy freighters and The Passenger liner SS Bladder return to port. Very well upkept. This is an easy 5 star review. I would definitely return!

Yelp
This place is beautiful! We are "out of towners" and were looking for a beach to relax at. This park did not disappoint. Beautiful & clean. Facilities were clean and accessible. 10/10 recommend!!

Yelp
Beautiful beach with lots to do. Walk the beach or swim in the clear water. We walked the pier and got to see the inside of the lighthouse. The walkways are so helpful to get down to the water more easily.

Yelp
Beautiful beach with access to Lake Michigan. Lots of parking, shaded picnic area, and fairly clean restrooms. Great place to spend the day and watch the sunset over the water.

Yelp
The Stearns Park Is a great Ludington city beach! It has free parking, bathrooms, a playground, skate park, plus a concession stand. There's a big beach here with great views of ships entering and leaving the harbor, including the SS Badger. The sunset views are FANTASTIC! This beach wasn't crowded (week night sunset) and is very spacious! There is a skatepark plus a playground at one end of the beach. Also - check out the nearby Waterfront Park/Playground!

Yelp
This beach is huge on the shore of Lake Michigan. The beach has a lighthouse, playground, large parking lot, playground, and skatepark.
