Now, Steel Vengeance is an RMC hybrid recreation. Where they take an old busted Wooden Coaster and turn it into a fantastic steel coaster. I never got to ride Mean Streak (it looked horrific), but I don't need to, because I already know Steel Vengeance is an improvement! Not only is Steel Vengeance an incredible RMC, it's one of the BEST coasters in the world! Seriously, most enthusiasts consider this to be one of the best coasters ever made, if not THE best. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that this is one of the best coasters that I've ridden, maybe even my favorite (it's this, Maverick, X2 at SFMM or The Voyage at Holiday World). So we know we're in for a treat with this ride.
So once we pull down the RMC lapbars, our ride begins. We hit small turn and a few bunny hills. These are pretty similar to the ones on Twisted Colossus, except, not nearly as good cuz you don't launch into them. But don't worry, the REAL airtime comes later! After climbing up the massive lift hill, we then hit the first drop. If you've ridden any RMC, you know exactly what kind of drop this is like. EJECTOR AIRTIME!!!! We then hit a speed hill which, HOLY SH*T, This element is SO FREAKING STRONG. One of the strongest airtime moments on ANY RMC. We then rise up into a MASSIVE airtime hill and get an amazing mix of both laterals and airtime. But then comes this massive outerbanked turn which, OH DEAR GOD, THIS MOMENT IS F*CKING CRAZY. This rivals RailBlazer for some of the most brutal airtime imaginable. You are just YEETED out of your seat and slammed back down in such a violent manner. After this you rise up into a double up, get some more great airtime into a 0 g roll. Which is fun, but Steel Vengeance has far more in store. We then hit a turnaround and then follow up with a sort of stall element. Yeah, it's pretty epic. Very reminisent of Twisted Colossus's Stall or Cannibal's Lagoon Roll (Both of which being top tier inversions). We then drop down getting some more amazing airtime (gonna stop describing the airtime, just assume it's all top tier airtime unless I say otherwise), and then rise back up into two more airtime hills before turning into the MCBR. Thankfully, this doesn't slow us down that much.
We then drop down and hit yet another double up and rise into an outer banked turn, which of course, provides great airtime and laterals. We then dive under the structure and hit an overbanked turn, providing some great laterals and amazing airtime. Reminds me a lot of Lightning Rod's speed wave turn hill (used to be my favorite moment on an RMC until they removed the launch). We then hit another snappy 0 g roll followed up by two more back to back airtime hills. AND WE'RE STILL NOT DONE YET. We hit yet ANOTHER Wave turn which is just as good as the first one followed by YET ANOTHER 0 G ROLL. HOLY SH*T, THIS RIDE JUST KEEPS GOING AND GOING. And then, we hit the best moment on the ride. THE AIRTIME FINALE. YOU GET SIX OF THE MOST POWERFUL AIRTIME MOMENTS ON ANY COASTER BACK TO BACK TO BACK. YOU GO SIDEWAYS, YOU GO UP, YOU GO DOWN, IT'S ALL NUTS. And then, the magic comes to an end.... and you can't help but clap with joy. You just rode the Magnum Opus of RMC.
Steel Vengeance is one of the greatest coasters ever made. Twisted Colossus is a 10/10 coaster that's a borderline 11, while Steel Vengeance is a 19/10 coaster that's a borderline 20. I know it's so common for people to say this is their #1 (Although idk if it is my #1, it's CLOSE, but i also REALLY love Voyage Maverick and X2), but I don't care. I love Steel Vengeance too much. Unfortunately, this ride hasn't had the best history as, this coaster is notorious for being closed frequently as it's one of the most unreliable coasters at Cedar Point (which says A LOT cuz this is a park that is known for its poor reliability). Despite it being one of my favorite coasters ever, I only rode it TWICE in FOUR DAYS cuz it either had a 2.5 hour wait or it was down for maintenance. I counted the amount of times it went down on me, and it ended up breaking down FIFTEEN TIMES in four days. So when you go to Cedar Point, GET THERE FIRST. And while yes, the struggle to ride it is a big one, IT'S WORTH IT! Steel Vengeance is worth it. I don't care if the apocalypses is happening or if this has a 4-5 hour line. RIDE STEEL VENGEANCE. You'll be sorry if you don't. And, good luck getting on it.
