They have a huge selection of fishing gear for both fresh and saltwater. They usually carry both sand worms and blood worms. The rods range from prices as low as $59.00, all the way up to the upper price point. Good selection of reels for most fisherman. I would like to see more of a selection of reels around the $100 mark- but unfortunately they stock most of their reels at well over $200, so be prepared to either spend a lot of money on a reel, or just walk out with a frustrated feeling. Over the many years I have been here- the staff consistently smoke cigarettes with no regard for the customers and numerous children that come in and out. When I say consistently, I mean EVERY TIME. We literally couldn’t stand the smoke in our faces so we had to go elsewhere for fishing equipment. There is terrible customer service here from our experience, with no staff taking any initiative or politeness to ask if we needed assistance.

I often overlook this bait and tackle because I generally use artificial lures. And this serves more of a bait shop for my purposes. But, I was pleasantly surprised to discover how fresh their bait was during my last few visits. So, I decided to create a nice review to show appreciation. I was slightly disappointed in the condition and size of the eels one of my visits. But, in all, I was not disappointed in the quality of their products.

Extraordinary customer service. The young man who assisted me was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I informed him that I knew nothing about fishing equipment and he made sure that I left with everything I needed so I can gift the fishing rod to my son, ready to use.

Great store Great Prices Great service.. I guess that’s why they’ve been around for so long. The employees here couldn’t be nicer and are extremely knowledgeable, the boss Richie is lucky to have these guys.

Last two times I've been here in the last 4 months they had kids ages 9-22 working the shop and with such egos it gave me a good laugh. If I wanted to be treated poorly by tweens I'd work as a teacher. Ever since then when I needed bait, hooks, or sinkers, I took the extra 2 minutes to go to Bernie's to at least take my chances with adult employees.

I've been buying the bulk of my fishing needs from this shop for the past 20 years. No frills, quality tackle, bait, and service with a smile (unless you say something stupid). This is the most original thing left in sheepshead bay and I appreciate it everyday. Change is not always good.

Guests: Check your receipt and make sure they don't over charge you. The Kid working this last weekend at the counter is completely clueless and from what I experienced over charged me on purpose in an attempt to pull cash later. Just wonder how many times the customer didn't realize this....... After I called him out on an over charge of 10 bucks on a 40$ sale I said why did you charge me 10 more he said "oh that's tax, and I said "nope that doesn't add up" he looked at me in a whisper and said "if I just give you the cash difference would that make it batter" to the Owner of this place and to other guests check your sales and make sure you aren't being overcharged or scamming your customers, Big fail.

Walked in and all the employees was about 7 of them had no masks on they also seemed more annoyed customer came in

Stella Maris Bait & Tackle lacks a sense of community and equity when it comes to long time LOYAL customers that have been supporting their business for over 35+ years. If you have a loyal respectful humble consistent customer, you should honor that and NOT belittle that customers interaction with "I don't have time for you" or other unprofessional dismissive gross passive behavior. Definitely not setting a good example of how a business should be run by people who don't appreciate their long term customers.

Well if you wanna feel unwelcome when you walk in this is the place for you. Walked in was ignored first 5 minutes so i aproached on my own this tall white kid asked him about boots he didnt even wanna bother to get them for me. Kid looked stoned i bought knifes and boots i got overcharged about $10 didnt bother to go back in bc i didnt get a reicept. My fault. Never will go back never will recomend just a waste of time

Walked in with my 5 year old and my 2 year old to check out the store. The guys all greeted us and helped us pick out a fishing rod for my 5 year old. They took the time to explain everything and even set it up and showed us how to use it. I never fished in my life . Brian and Robert both helped my sonsNoah and Mason have the best possible experience. Thank you very much and I am sure we will be coming back for all of our supplies.

Those guys are a bunch of thieves I gave them ugly stick fishing rod to repair the eye in the feeder they gave me the repair on a pen Rod they kept my original and gave me a different brand I've been going there for 30 years and I never experience such unprofessionalism from their staff specifically the heavyset guy and the younger guys were very disrespectful I wouldn't recommend this place to any real fisherman if they're willing to do a repair swap for cheap ugly stick they don't deserve to be in business F@&kin Thieves. Fat AZZ Keep the ugly stick you need something to stand next to soon so you can feel better and the ugly stick fishing rod still looks better than you I hope you get a heart attack from eating all that sausage and peppers

Always a pleasure baiting up with Stella Maris. Fast, helpful, courteous and knowledgable. Kudos to all the guys and the generations we have seen run the place. Opens at 5 am daily.

Nice bait shop, fresh live bait and knowledgeable staff...even clued me in to a cool pizza joint in the area.

Great place the freshest bait in sheepsheadbay they have everything you need from rods to reels hooks to sinkers. When you go in for thr first time they treat you like family and they don't forget your name

The best place to get all of your fishing needs. . They won't sell or try to convince you to buy anything that you don't need. The first time I went into the store, I knew nothing about fishing and Stretch (Owner) guided me to a rod which was perfect for my needs. He made me feel so comfortable and never did I feel pressured to purchase anything.
