This was my first time staying at a hostel, and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is very friendly. The backyard area has a very cool atmosphere with herbs growing, a swing, and a well designed, nicely lit seating area with many guitars and doors decorating it. My stay was comfortable. The house is on the older side, but I didn't have any issues with it. Make sure if you book a room in one of the dormitory style rooms that you're ok with being in a room with other people. There's a lot of fun history in this house, including a book exchange, and a map of the world on the wall that shows where Stella Maris travelers are from. I am likely to come back to Stella Maris. The prices are great for the quality of the housing experience that you get.

This is a wonderful, quaint, charming, clean, hospitable, safe place to stay for 5 nights at a time. The price is very reasonable if you book on their website. Private room, $80, and female dorm $49. Super comfortable mattresses in both stays. Nice kitchen with ample breakfast supplies. Owners and staff are professional and friendly and helpful. Wish I was rich enough to donate some funds to them to do some fixes—bathroom ceiling needs help and they need a new bathtub that is clean, but badly stained. The water pressure is fantastic. The quiet rules were followed. I met some very nice travelers. I’m sorry I have to go back to other hotels and airbnbs instead of staying here longer while I investigate finding housing here in Wilmington. Book it and stay here. No bugs! Convenient to downtown stores, and bus line just on the corner, and bus station called Padgett. I could’ve walked, but didn’t realize how close it was. Seriously, so charming I felt like I was in Europe.

This hostel was the best of all the hostel I did during my trip. The bedroom are great, each bed have a little curtain for privacy and a lot of place to plug their things in. The bathroom is clean. The kitchen is really nice and there is place to speak with other people

The staff were very friendly, the space was very clean! I especially loved the bedding and linens, they were very comfortable and soft. It was the first time my friend had stayed in a hostel and she loved it!. The A/C and fan were working well and the shower head had nice pressure. The wifi was strong and ear plugs were provided also :). Would for sure stay there again! It is walk-able to bars, 15 minute walk, though with being young females we took Uber. The only thing is I wish they had lockers but it felt very safe and comfortable. I'm just a little extra cautious.

This place is fine. It’s clean and seems well maintained for an old house. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that I ended up with a top bunk, though I had requested a bottom bunk, and didn’t find that out until I got there. It’s fortunate that I don’t have a disability that currently impacts my ability to climb. The proximity to the boardwalk was nice, but I wasn’t entirely comfortable coming back in the evening, because I had to pass a liquor store where men were hanging out and cat called me both evenings. I was also woken up at least once by drag racing right outside. So I guess I would say, don’t walk back after dark, hopefully you can wear earplugs, and don’t assume you’re getting the bunk you wanted, especially if you have vertigo.

This is a great place. Lots of interesting people and the staff are very nice. The price and location make this a very good option for travelers passing through who want to be close to downtown! There are two things that could be better about this place. It says breakfast is included, but "breakfast" is just a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. Additionally, the place could be cleaner. It was cluttered, a little dirty, and a tad janky. However, it adds to the charm. Overall I would stay here again.

Stella Maris is a great place to stay if you want to be close to downtown and don’t mind making some new friends. They have an awesome backyard and a really cool vibe and people there. I’ve never stayed in a hostel in the US before this but I have to say I had a blast here!

Very clean (I felt comfortable walking around barefoot), the best mattresses in any hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The little self serve breakfast options are a huge bonus and it’s really the extra mile. Location couldn’t be better, just a few minutes to walk to the strip yet in a very quiet neighborhood. On-site parking is crazy convenient and the quiet hours mean that if you’re there for business there’s minimal chance of being bothered. I’m already planning trips back here!
