Yelp
A classic hotel with a great view of the ocean. Whether you are on the Loop Head peninsula to enjoy the Irish coast during "summer", the best in Europe diving--or so the tourist board claims--or to peruse the fan lobe turbidites of the Ross Formation, this makes a great base of operations.
The rooms are some of the largest I've encountered in Europe, at very reasonable rates. I found them clean, comfortable, and enjoyable--as I did the common space, two large sun rooms which also doubled as a restaurant. The food was good, particularly a roast chicken with ham at lunch. I can't recommend the sandwiches to an American palate, however.
They have a bar with live music, which is a plus, as long as you aren't in the room above it. If you're looking for a quiet space, just make note upon check-in (earplugs were available at the front desk, I've heard). They pour a great pint of Guinness, though some of their other offerings were on the high side for prices.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, across the board. They helped make my stay a wonderful experience.
