**Hotel Stella Maris Review**
**Beach and Pools:**
**Pluses:**
- Beautiful sandy beach with clear water.
- Clean pool and well-maintained pool area.
- Delicious ice cream available.
**Minuses:**
- Guests must go down to the beach to pick up towels and then return to the pool.
- No service available at either the pool or the beach.
- Extremely windy on some days, making it difficult to enjoy the beach.
**Rooms (We stayed in a Superior Suite):**
**Pluses:**
- Clean and satisfactory, with a lovely view.
- Ample towels and bathrobes provided.
- Spacious mirrors.
- Large balconies.
**Minuses:**
- Not as modern as depicted in the booking photos (the hotel seems to use AI-enhanced images to make the rooms appear more attractive).
- Missing amenities mentioned during booking, such as a “living room table” and “armchairs”; instead, there was only one small chair per room and no any living room table.
- While the balconies are large, they only have two small chairs and a small table, making it uncomfortable to relax and fully enjoy the view.
**Breakfast:**
**Pluses:**
- Eggs cooked to your preference can be ordered at the table.
- Good selection of pastries.
**Minuses:**
- Outdoor seating is only available from Wednesday to Sunday.
- Extra items incur additional charges (e.g., €2 for each item if you want to add bacon to your eggs or veggies/cheese to your omelet). Fresh orange juice costs €7 and is served in a very small size, even smaller than their latte glass.
**Dinner:**
**Pluses:**
- Large buffet featuring desserts and fruits.
- Good selection of wines.
**Minuses:**
- Very disorganized service. There is an odd system where only one person takes orders while the other waiters only serve and clear dishes. Many waiters appear to be either running chaotically between tables or standing around chatting instead of working. Despite having 8-9 waiters for 20-25 tables, we waited more than 30 minutes just to place our order. My dish, “suckling pig,” consisted mainly of fat with very little meat. After requesting a change, I waited another 30 minutes before they realized they had forgotten it.
- Food quality could be improved. We had half board and could choose three dishes from the menu plus dessert. While the pasta and beef were generally good, we were often dissatisfied with the starters and main courses. The worst was a starter called “fresh marinated scallops infused with lemon and coconut milk,” which turned out to be some salted grey pieces and no hint of coconut milk—likely made from canned ingredients rather than fresh.
**Staff:**
**Pluses:**
- Generally friendly staff.
**Minuses:**
- Most staff members have limited English proficiency.
