A beautiful late 19th Century building which is one of a group of grand houses on the same street. The conversion to a hotel has been done well, and the new bar and reception area is a great addition. The dining room is a beautiful room which takes you back in time.||I had a bit of an issue on arrival since reception was unmanned and a mistake had been made in room allocation so that I had been given a single instead of a double. This was quickly resolved later, and the room I was given was excellent. If I could have spent longer over breakfast I would have done, but needed to get to the railway station for my train to Oslo.||Full credit to the staff for a lovely stay.

Had a great time in Bergen and Steen's just added to the experience. Friendly staff and lovely surroundings. This is an old hotel at the top of a steep hill, design is still if the nineteenth century, with a few modern changes especially in the very comfortable and spacious room. We both loved this and would use again if we get the chance to go to Norway again.

A grand hotel with great character. The breakfast was of a good standard and variety - meats and salamis, eggs, cereal, fruit, juices and so on. The staff easily recommended several places to eat close by, and the hotel is situated close to the centre of Bergen - less than a 15 minute walk to the harbour.

Steens Hotel is situated next to a park and other beautiful old buildings. The location is also perfect for exploring the city of Bergen. Apart from that there were two things we just loved about Steens Hotel: First of all the staff - they are very friendly and helped us a lot when out trip with Hurtigruten was cancelled and we had to find accommodation when whole Bergen seemed to be completely booked. And second, the breakfast in the beautifully decorated breakfast room is an experience itself! ||Contrary to other members we did not encounter anyone dubious in the park nearby - that is except if anyone wants to count my husband and me as dubious people, sitting in a park, eating peanuts. :D

This is a small hotel, located near the city center. It's comfortable and quiet, the rooms are a good size and clean. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I had a bad experience with a car rental, and two staff members spent a lot of time helping me. They were really outstanding. There isn't much parking, and it's expensive, so you should factor that into your plans.

I'm pretty sure there are nicer hotels in Bergen with bigger rooms and close to the wharf but this one was a pretty good value for the money.||||One minor inconvenience is walking uphill from the train station with bunch of luggage... take a cab if you can splurge otherwise suffer about 10-15 minute walk. ||||It is a small hotel in an older building next to a small park with the lake. Rooms are small-ish but have everything you need. We didn't have any issues with noise but our room was at the end of the hallway next to some kind of utility room so we didn't have any people right next door. ||||Breakfast is a standard European fare (bread, cereal, cold cuts and boiled eggs) served in a nice dining hall.||||Getting to wharf area takes about 10-15 minutes walking.||||Bottom line: great if you're on budget. Not far from sightseeing and train station.

Steen Hotel is on top of a hill in central Bergen in a quiet area, few minutes’ walk but steep. No parking there you have to park down town. This hotel is an old mansion so it’s not a modern hotel, but has its charm, no elevator. Good breakfast and helpful staff.||

Excellent quiet location removed from enter city but close enough to have easy working access to bus and train stations as well as the sights. Very clean with extremely helpful and courteous staff. Tea room and breakfast facilities were delightfully refined and restful. Substantial, fresh breakfast offerings. We would definitely return there and recommend it to others.
