Step Back

Sure will miss this store soon. Been tracking them after their 2nd relocations moved due to renovation for previous location ( flooring issues ) to this current location. Sadden to hear they are closing soon. Do hope they will reopen again soon. But i guess taking a Step Back for a Break that they deserve will be a treat for themselves a vacation. Chris,Robin is amazing and helpful, friendly services. Will be hoping to drop in before all the good stuffs are all gone. Wishing Chris/Robin all the very Best! Great store for unique vintage finds. Clothes, furniture, appliances, books, taxidermy, and much more can be found. I like to check in every month as the stock is constantly changing. Best part of the store is the friendly owner and staff - they always great you with a smile and have a story to share on each piece.

Such a cool store if you’re looking for some beautiful vintage pieces ranging from suitcases to toys, books etc. Some new items as well like postcards and paper. The owner is lovely and always happy to help and describe items in the store. They’re always collecting so there’s something new to see every visit.

Love this place so much! So enjoy the time inside and lots of vintages around, the staff helped a lot and so experienced on the things he sold, looking forward to back again

If you enjoy vintage school/office items, if you love vintage travel and the attendant maps & globes, you should visit Stepback. It's the type of store that will inspire you to go home and re-arrange your collections or your rooms. It's a store one can get lost in for awhile... The long, narrow space is decorated like a classroom that has turned into a storage space for all the old & cool surplus from the building. Chalk maps are difficult to find! Tons of old globes, printer's boxes, typewriters, cameras, vintage leather suitcases, & assorted school furniture share space with new books about decorating with vintage items, recreations with vintage motifs and tons of knickknacks. Prices aren't cheap, but they're fair...to be sure, you're not in a thrift store. As a collector of primers, maps and globes...this store was made for me! Similar hearts will fall in love with Stepback as well. 19/30 (15B)

Stepback is an original. truly 'Old School' in offerings, they have skilfully mixed vintage with modern repro in a way I that show a certain 'je ne sais quoi' on the part of the owners. bravo. items range from durable utilitarian goods to the industrially whimsical. Find within: a wide selection of vintage indestructible 'hotel-ware' crockery to pass on to the next few generations; quaint suitcases for charming storage solutions; nostalgic accessories from the schoolroom that you loved to hate; plastic cast sign letters from some long defunct drive-in. etc etc. all meticulously polished and cleaned, cleverly displayed and priced to fit any budget. high turn-over.. shop often

What a fun place to visit!!! Filled with unique cool items to decorate any room in a home. I love how friendly, accommodating and helpful they are!!! Thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience and of course I couldn't leave without taking some goodies with me. Pricing is very reasonable as well! That's such a nice vintage store. Reasonably priced, it always has a cool variety of vintage goodies. The owner is quite friendly as well. If you like vintage stuff, this store will be soon a favourite!

A beautiful store! You can tell the items are picked meticulously. A good mix of old and new, and really good pricing on some things, I can't believe how affordable all the cases and trunks are! I came by to stock up on vintage christmas decor and wrapping paper, all on sale after boxing day. lovely glass ornaments and the staff were so friendly. I'll definitely be a frequent shopper, they share prices and hold items via their social media account which I love!

One of the coolest shops in Vancouver! Antique nick nacks and beautiful new products as well. Their staff is intelligent and so so kind!

Stepback is my favourite store. They're always bringing in new (old) stuff, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the whole place is filled with nearly every little memento you could imagine. Admittedly, I'm not an antique collector or vintage shopper per se. But I can (and do) get lost for hours sifting through all the incredible trinkets this place has to offer.

I am one of those old school people whom still writes in her notebook and loves to journal her thoughts in a notebook rather than publicly on-line. I love writing letters and sending postal mail. This place is heaven for me as there is fun stationary that looks timely yet modern at the same time. I loved their upcycled journals....only problem is that they have no lines. Lots of paper goods for scrap booking inspirations. The prices are reasonable and the girl at the til was super friendly. They even sell individual scrabble pieces, however, prices for this is $$$. Better just to buy scrabble and just pick the letters that you need.

Such a cute place with an amazing selection of reasonably priced vintage items! The customer service is AMAZING and the employees are kind and informative. Will definitely be going back often!

I absolutely love this store. They have a wide array of vintage artifacts from small animal taxidermy to cool relic furniture!

Stepback is a charming shop with thoughtful curation and precision merchandising. Chris, Robyn and their staff make the store feel inviting without sales pressure. I enjoy my shopping experience there especially so because I own a shop across town myself and hitting up Stepback is always so inspirational. You guys are just simply divine!

The Yelp listing could probably use a decent update of photos as I found the offerings to be pretty diverse when I stopped in and far better than shown in some of the exiting pics, extending far beyond Olde Time school supplies, to include everything from really robust examples of taxidermy, vintage photos, farmhouse elements and reclaimed furniture. I knew immediately, that I was going to need at least an hour to comb through this store, not necessarily to find something I liked (that was the easy part) but to sort through that which I was able to walk out with in just one visit. Chris was EXCEPTIONALLY helpful and personable, you really couldnt ask for better service and human interaction, volunteering to give the background history on individual pieces and help look for items which may be of interest. Seriously, the world needs more people like him. Prices were very fair, given their unique one-of-a-kind nature and very competitive when it came the the factory production items. Having said all that, I am already planning my next trip and will be sure to bring more change to feed the parking meter, so I can extend my look-around. Chuck B

This is a family kind of business and everything here is chosen with love and care and is fixed up nicely before being put on sale. This place is truly a wonderland for the romantic and for those who appreciate a certain kind of pretty, crafty and slightly feminine aesthetic.

interesting store as described. I purchased a typewriter for more than a comparable model on ebay but the CS guy was friendly and indicated it was made in germany and fully functional with only 1 sticky key. I took his word for it. after purchase, closer inspection showed it to be made elsewhere and 2 keys did not work. I emailed the shop asking for it to be serviced as it was different than described. No reply.
