Sterkfontein Caves

We took the tour today and for r150 pp, it is well worth it. So nice and cool inside, natural aircon. The sounds, sights and colours are amazing. The natural beauty is amazing. The history is well told by the guides. There are tight spaces one has to go through... Well low spaces but its worth the tour and trip.

I went on a Saturday afternoon, and the tour I went on was too many people. I wIt was fine for me but I think there should have been more warnings for the elderly or with different capabilities, it required some climbing and bending over that wasn’t easy for some. At the end you can touch a saber tooth that was found in the area and ask an expert some questions.

Too cool! Super kid friendly cave experience. The guides are knowledgeable and kind. Couldn't recommend it more highly as an educational experience for little ones!

A very cool experience walking into the depths of an ancient cave and old limestone mine, with the expertise of a guide. Be mindful there are stretches with uneven grounds and crawl spaces. I really enjoyed the visit with an underground lake, grottos, and bits of nature and history in the Cradle of Humankind.

The best experience, our guide was so wonderfull. He made the trip the best, with jokes and all his knowledge. The caves it self is in great shape. Safety is tops. This is a must experience. Some places in the cave is n bit difficult but our gide was on top of everything.

Our guide was very kind and answered everyone's questions. He guided us through the caves patiently and checked on everyone to ensure that we were all safe. Saw people wearing flip flops and other weird shoes - be safe and wear tekkies - it gets slippery. The temperature also drops in the cave so if you're sensitive to that, take an extra jersey. It was about 30 degrees outside and our guide said it was 18 degrees in the cave. The exhibit you get to see before doing the caves was also interestimg and informative. Would do it again as soon as possible. Was fun and worth it!

Very cool outing! Loved the stories and experiencing some history. Certainly a top choice of things to do around Joburg.

I haven't been to the caves since I was a teenager so it was really awesome to go back and show my son and teach him the history. A really fun outing for the whole family and a museum and labratory to learn about some fossils.
