First time playing here. No regrets. Friendly staff and great course. The greens are nice, fairway and cafeteria. Cafeteria opens a little late. The coffee was surprisingly good.

Google
Our experience working with Sterling Hills was fantastic! We are so happy with the venue, the sales team, and the day-of staff! We were sold on using Wedgewood for our wedding because of the affordability - the all-inclusive aspect was a mere bonus for us. We were sold on Sterling Hills because of the GORGEOUS ballroom, and the proximity to hotels for our out-of-town guests (95% of our guest list). I'm a DIY bride, and I loved that I could get away with minimal decorations at this venue! The majority of my decorations were for the welcome table; we did bud vases on all the tables and it was absolutely perfect (we're a pretty minimalist couple). We went for the buffet dinner and received compliments all night about how amazing all of the food was! We travelled to Camarillo from the Bay Area for our wedding, and the sales team was very flexible with us in terms of in-person meetings versus phone meetings. On our way down to Camarillo for our Wedding Day, my now husband was reading Yelp reviews of the venue for fun - we got a kick out of one where a couple described "living very busy lives" and being more or less "conned into believing Sterling Hills would handle everything." look guys, be realistic - Sterling Hills will handle all the things they are responsible for. but as the couple, you still have responsibilities and decisions to make. this is not a 100% hands-off deal. if you hire external vendors, that's your responsibility. but even preferred vendors booked through Sterling Hills will still need your input and will still need to coordinate directly with you. We are extremely happy with our whole experience. We had a couple things that weren't exactly right, but they were so minor and insignificant that it didn't even bother us. Highly recommend this venue.

Google
It won’t disappoint you!! Once you pass through the agricultural fields and the mobile home park this BREATHTAKING venue is like a place out of Wedding Fantasy. I rate it at A++++++++++++

Google
Just had a great time playing 18 at this dazzling course! The conditions were perfect and each hole was fun to play. My buddy & I were pumped to find out deal came with free lunch credits too. This place is definitely worth checking out—I’ll be back for another round again soon.

Google
Beautiful course! Very well kept and the staff are nice. The rate of play is perfect with little to no waiting. Medium to hard course to play with narrow fairways, beautiful well placed traps, hazards, and hills. It is a great challenging course but not too difficult where you get frustrated. Perfect course for a +7 to +15 handicap. I would recommend playing here anytime you are in Camarillo!

Google
Great layout and overall value. Course is always on great condition. Very fair course that can be challenging. Very fun to play. Good practice area. Round comes with a free sandwich for lunch at the turn and small bucket of balls. Who does that nowadays. Staff has always been great. You should check it out.

Google
This course is amazing for the value. Cost 40 on a Sunday afternoon in February. Course is in great shape. Greens rolled nice. Pace of play moved along nicely, we played in just over 4 hours. Would definitely play again!

Eduardo Lizarraga

Google
In general the course has always been in good shape, and the staff have always been welcoming. I have played here a couple times and the pace of play has always been good. So combining everything above and having good rates I give this place a good rating.

Kaisei S.

Yelp
Great round of golf. Very clean and fast paced. Wishing I could go back right now. Also definitely try the breakfast burrito. wow.

Yelp
Great round today course is in great conditions minus the punched greens but hey that's what they have to do to maintain the greens, great service and people

Yelp
Randy at the pro shop is awesome, I've played here a few times and he's always super nice and helpful. This is a great course with awesome customer service. Recommend to anyone at any level of play. The golf pro I believe his name was Matt is also really informative and helpful.

Mike M.

Yelp
The course is in good shape. Fairways are more like a city course vs say Rustic Canyon or Moorpark CC. I will admit I've been frustrated the last 1/2 dozen times we played there. Every time we were told that a mistake had been made and players were put in front of us. This resulted in tee time being pushed back and rounds well over 4.5 hours. That's long considering we tee off at 7 am. Rounds at that time should be under 4 hours Well it happened again yesterday. Tee time pushed back almost 20 minutes. Expressed my displeasure to the starter. We teed off and while in the middle of the fairway a cart drove up. The starter had conveyed our displeasure and they came out to apologize & give us drink tickets While still not happy with the longer playing time I do give them credit for trying to address the issue

Makayla S.

Yelp
The staff needs to take the stick out of their behinds. They are so unnecessarily strict on carts in by 7:00 to the point that we have been BANNED from paying for, and using, any carts at any time. Simply because of the fact we were coming in a little later than 7:00.... As paying customers... HUH? We have spent SO much money at this course just to be treated like sh*t every time we even walk into the shop. No thanks! See ya never!

Aaron F.

Yelp
Pace of play here is AWFUL. no marshals means groups just taking their sweet time, plus groups hitting from the tips when they can't carry the ball 83 yards in the air. I'm all for everyone having a fun round but be reasonable and play from forward tees! Also the pro shop lady wasn't exactly kind and made it seem like I was beneath her for booking with a GolfNow hot deal.

A B.

Yelp
Michael has to go. He probably use to be a nice guy. He's to grumpy and now they're demanding you have your carts in by 7! I feel like they've forgot who pays their bills! A reasonable amount of friendliness goes a long way! Course is descent shape!
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
The pro shop really needs to work on their customer service. I've been to many courses private and public and I have never seen a pro shop act so rude to their paying customers before in my life. I went for a relaxing fun experience being my first time at this course. I got the complete opposite. This place left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Yelp
We had foursome booked on Tuesday but Evidently there was a tournament scheduled for that evening at 5pm. When we checked in for our tee time, this was not mentioned to us. We were not told that we would be bumped off any hole that we were on once the tournament started until we were on hole 5 when a Marshall came to inform us 445 that we need to move to hole 8 at 5pm. There were 3 groups in front of us and we were all pushed to hole 8 at 5pm. How does this even make sense? Needless to say we didn't get to finish a full 18 holes of which we paid for and when we spoke to the tournament director Matt Pavin, he was a beyond rude, extremely disrespectful, arrogant and lied to our faces. He was not at the counter when we checked in for our tee time but yet he stated that we were told about the tournament and we shouldn't be complaining and refused to refund us or compensate us in any way. Matt Pavin should not be in the hospitality industry in any capacity whatsoever as he is completely unfit to serve the public.

Yelp
Great golf course. The fairways are wide and the greens are fast. The course provides (4) tee boxes to choose from. Beginners and novice golfers can all have a nice time. The greens fees are a little pricey. The cart should be included for this price. They offer lunch as a part of the fees. Choose from a burger, salad, sandwich, or hot dog. They come with chips. Drinks and fries or onion rings are extra. Order at the 8th hole and pick it up at the turn. Overall our threesome had a fantastic time and we will play again!

Frank S.

Yelp
beautiful golf course, the pro shop guy who checks you in was rude, and hardly looked up from the book he was reading. Pace was a little slow, will play again..

Yelp
Fun and easy to make reservations. Nice people.....better than the LA courses and their booked courses

Michael K.

Yelp
Sterling Hills is a great course and is usually in great condition. Weekday rate that includes lunch and range balls can't be beat.

Earl D.

Yelp
Everything that I attempted I'm very satisfied at this moment I have nothing more to add except excellent service
google avatar

Lucas D.

Yelp
One of my favorite courses in the area. Played on a Friday morning for $45 with cart, bucket of range balls and lunch included. This place is known for fast and undulating greens that roll pure, but with the new tees they have just added the course can stretch out to just under 7k yards. Each hole has a unique layout and each poses different challenges in terms of tee box, landing areas and of course the greens as well. They had just used the small punch on the greens, but expect within 2 weeks they will be immaculate and ready for summer. Tremendous course, outstanding value. Well worth the drive from LA.

Joe H.

Yelp
We had a great day of golf! The course was in great shape. Wish the carts had gps or yardage markers were better. Don't know if that would have helped our score. But we would go back and play it again.

Yelp
Shady place. Shady people. Got a club stolen there by the group behind us. Thieves that steal from a kid. May the dirtbags that stole it always get triple bogies. No good vibes come from stolen goods. The establishment was of no assistance in helping recovery the stolen club. They make tee times and often over book BTW. And never book off golf apps way overpriced. Not worth it on this public course. Better ones in the area! If I could give negative stars I would.
google avatar

Hun Young L.

Yelp
Sterling Hills Golf Club is clean and long enough to enjoy the long-distance 6813-yard fairways. Check-in was a very friendly welcome and course views are pretty good. It is better to ride a golf cart since the fairways have steep hills with up and down ways.

Yelp
Played today, July 2, with a Group (8 tee times) starting around 7:09 in really good spirits however, our group was treated with unnecessary rudeness by its employees especially by the starter and the person in the clubhouse. They're very unwelcoming, pushy and basically DISRESPECTFUL! I'll bring my game somewhere else, as I will NOT come back here anytime soon. Employees at the Cafeteria are the same, RUDE and unhelpful. Since, the menu changed from what were used to ordering from, the person who answered the phone literally told me to make up my mind, and call back because he is so busy and hung up the phone. Where is that damn CUSTOMER SERVICE? Hey, Management...talk to these people, as they badly need your help how to handle people NICELY and in a friendly manner.
google avatar

Yelp
This course is the best bang for your buck in Ventura county! Great deal that comes with a meal ticket and a small bucket of balls.

Yelp
Found this course on GolfNow for a hot deal. It was fine, nothing spectacular. A lot of the fairways weren't in the best condition but the greens were nice. Pretty challenging with a good amount of water. Also my tee time was 12 but didn't get to tee off until almost 1 because they didn't have enough carts. Also a lot of old people playing extremely slow. If you're in the area it's worth playing but I live in Los Angeles and drove an hour which wasn't worth it. But like I said, if you're in the Camarillo area it's worth checking out.

Lee C.

Yelp
Pros: The course is usually in decent shape for a public course. Most of the fairways have good grass and the greens would be better if people fixed a pitch mark. But, as always, it's a public course. What do you expect? Cons: I wish they'd reduce the cost for a tee time by taking off the "free lunch" which includes food (hot dog, sandwich, etc) and a bag of chips. The service at the turn isn't great, the soda machine is always either flat, out of syrup, or tastes like chemicals. They only take cash... It's not worth it. Never seen a cart girl on this course. Carts do not have coolers or GPS. Never seen a Marshall. I wouldn't say it's the best "green for not a lot of green" as they proudly display.

Yelp
My husband and I started playing this course earlier this summer. Sam in the pro shop is super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, as are all of the staff. The starters keep up a good pace of play and the course is in good shape. As a bonus they give you a voucher for lunch and a bucket of balls. The food is good and the bar serves great cocktails. We highly recommend this course and have brought several friends and family to enjoy.
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
It took 2 1/2 hours to play 9 holes. At the turn I asked for a rain check and management would not oblige. I was told that there was no one on the back and it shouldn't be slow. However the same groups that we were waiting for on the front 9 were still in front of us. Overall a terrible experience. Customer service is lacking and a rain check would have been the right thing to do.

Deb J.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with the manager at this course. I had a Golf Moose certificate for a twosome. It is expiring the end of the month. I called and asked if I could get an extension because of the weather this week, I just wanted a couple weeks. The guy said he cannot do anything for me. I was even bringing 2 other people that would be paying full price. I think that was crappy managment. He just lost some golfers because his customer service sucked. It wouldn't of hurt him to allow us a couple weeks extension. I will be letting all my golf friend know to go somewhere else. Manager was not accomadating. rude!!!

Edwin G.

Yelp
Played today and received the worst treatment ever! The starter needs to learn customer service and just embrace diversity! YES - ASIAN Americans play golf! Don't want to use the race card but comments like "you guys" don't help! Hey management - you lost my business. Train your staff on how to treat customers or people well with dignity and respect!

Yelp
I've been wanting to play Sterling Hills for quite some time as I had heard good things about this place for a number of years. After my recent visit it appears I may have missed the the window of the good ole days as I found the course to be just a-ok. One of the best aspects of Sterling Hills is the course layout. The holes are challenging and fun. I also like the length of the course as well and course management is key. There are numerous bunkers throughout the 18 holes but minimal water on only a select few holes. The major reason Sterling Hills gets dinged in my review is how dated it is. The carts are on the older side. They do have GPS but the system is dated and very basic. The 19th hole isn't much of a lounge. Food options are pretty standard as well as the drink selections. Seating is minimal and overall the 19th hole is just not it's just not very inviting. Basically all of the amenities (besides the Grille which we did not explore) were decently functional and not very impressive. I'll likely come back to Sterling Hills again but I won't be clamoring to return in the near future. For the price I'd rather play either of the courses at River Ridge.

Yelp
This is an absolutely beautiful club and course. The greens are so lush and were so fast the last time we were there. The course was a pretty tough one but fun none the less. There were so many people playing who'd remarked at how wonderful the course looks now. Had I not heard those remarks, I never would have known that the course was making a comeback. The carts were in good shape and were free of damage or clutter. The driving range was so peaceful. I loved watching the butterflies flit about. My lil one liked to run back and forth trying to catch them. There was a special event taking place inside the main building and it was so beautifully decorated. I can see why people would host parties here. The staff were so friendly and everyone was just so nice. I'd like to go back some other time and check it out again and see if there have been any other changes or improvements that I might notice. Oh, and did I mention? The rates are so reasonable. Awesome!
google avatar

Andres A.

Yelp
Beautiful course, staff was awesome. Will be coming back!!! The only thing is that some of the guest were playing all over the place. I'm ok when they go ahead of me, but it was just weird on how they did it. Looked to me they were probably residents to the course. Other than that we had a blast and will definitely visit again

Jeffrey A.

Yelp
I enjoy playing golf a Sterling hills in Camarillo. The new people in the golf shop are very friendly and greet you with a warm hello. The course is being maintained properly and the snack bar has good food and drink which is included in each round of golf. If you haven't played sterling hills recently give them a call

Yelp
I played in a shotgun tournament here and the course showed a lot of promise, but was in relatively poor shape, especially the bunkers and anywhere off the fairway. The layout is good, the greens were smooth and fast with some really wicked spots--be below the hole or beware! I know a couple of guys who play here somewhat frequently, and I understand the course had just changed hands when I played it, and that the new owners are working very hard to bring the course back to its former glory. I hope so, because the setting is beautiful, and I want to get another crack at those greens. Earlier I had included a review of the disappointing buffet lunch we had afterward, but I have since found out that my club hired those guys separately, so I deleted that out of fairness to the course. The one food item I had from the club, a breakfast burrito from the snack bar, was delicious. I hope I will get a chance to play the course again, so I can update this review and add a star or two.

Yelp
Everything was green. Ocean breeze. But we waited on every shot on every hole. 3:45 round. Only $30 on golfnow. Great deal. Just slow pace. No marshall seen. 2 water coolers. Water tasted like garden hose. Last cooler was empty. This place has potential but there is work to do.
google avatar

Geno B.

Yelp
Great course, excellent rate of play and the round came with a free drink! Recent driving range improvements are a plus.

Kurt K.

Yelp
The course is in great shape now. Take any reviews around 2018 with a grain of salt. The course is leaps and bounds ahead of what it was. Pre 2018 the old owner really ruined a pretty golf course with the sub par care of the entire course. It took some time, but it worth playing now. One of the better deals in the Ventura area. I would not hesitate to play here again ( I am next week) and would definitely recommend this to golfers. 6800 from the Blacks 133 slope. Good test of golf. I am glad the new owners take care of the course now.

Rachel S.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming to this beautiful course but the service is not up to par. I came in and talked to a man named Steve and I was very disappointed in his manners. I wish they had more people like Michael working there.

Vincent P.

Yelp
There is an old course marshal there that is so rude!!! He clearly doesn't like younger golfers, and he is incredible mean to beginner golfers. All he does is yell at you and say you don't know what you're doing. Instead of teaching he just yells. If you're a beginner stay away from this course and this crusty old jerk. You will just lose confidence. Wouldn't play here if someone paid me.

Raul R.

Yelp
This place is great!! The fairways are much better than before. You can see that they're working hard to get everything fixed. The greens are nice and clean!! Food is amazing!! Will definitely continue to golf here.
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
The new owner and his excellent management team headed by Lee Harlow created the environment that makes you feel rewarded for being a loyal golfer. It trickles down to those that work at the facilities. They care about a golfers experience. The teaching pro Dan is for real and will not waste your time by getting to exactly what you need to learn without starting from scratch. The grill makes excellent food. Sandy the cart gal is as good as they come. I lost my wallet and it held a bit of cash. She found it and called me by the next day and not a dollar was missing. I been playing here since it opened. Since the new owners acquired the course they have been dumping every penny into improving a huge list that they intend to cross out one by one. It is the best I have seen in ten years and they are not done by any means. So realize, although it is not perfect, they can do a lot more to perfect it if you play it more often. Let's play it forward and watch it evolve because they are serious about making one of the best experiences anywhere around and remember Rome wasn't built in day. Anyone that is a serious golfer in Ventura county knows Lee is the best in golf business in the this area to get this done.
google avatar

Calvin D.

Yelp
Air Rating the entire course?!?! Mud Bowl! Thought we were in a severe drought? Paid $55 huh? Maybe $20 would had been fair for the HUGE inconvenience of playing in such terrible conditions! No roll - doesn't matter where you hit it! They told us you pick it up and place it on some grass. Okay... Well we're was the grass? I'm sorry to be so harsh, yet charging $55 in conditions like this is called "Robbery"!

Tom K.

Yelp
Sterling Hills golf course was in fairly good shape. Greens were very good and most fairways were good. The individuals in the clubhouse were friendly and helpful i would recommend this course to anyone that has not played there.
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
Little to No phone reception for tmobile and Verizon just FYI. course: *Course is better than expected. *Fairways could use a little attention but greens are immaculate. *Rolls fast and true. *Fun lay out. *Not too much elevation change. *Forgiving fairways. *With bunkers stragetically placed forces you to think about your tee shots and approach shots. *Small pro shop. *Good staff. *One cart girl drove by. *Carts are very old but they're getting new ones real soon. They do provide GPS on the golf cart. *Two restrooms on the course. *There was a Marshall that drives around. *Pace of play was slow.

Yelp
I went to a Woman's Luncheon here. The facility was beautiful. The views from the Banquet room were lovely. The bathrooms were nice. There was ample parking. The staff was very helpful. The food was delicious. They had a beet salad that was to die for. I am going to try to make it at home. It was that good.

Yelp
Golf course is in better shape then I have seen it in 10 years. Good value on green fees and a great annual pass price for after 12 noon. See their PGA professional Dan for lessons if that is you want to get better.

Nelson A.

Yelp
We reserved 8 groups for 7:00 am start tee time and has text confirmation for the reservation. When we got to the first tee, the starter was rude when being asked about the conflict of the tee times and group numbers. He said that if we have an issue, we have to go back to the pro shop and tell them about it. We said, why can't you call that's why you have a radio. He didn't want to call at first but finally decided to call the pro shop. The pro shop told the starter without finding out the root cause of the conflict, if the players have any problem with the tee times, they can go back to the pro shop and they will be refunded. This is not the kind of customer service we expect to receive. In addition, went to get a burrito to use the voucher part of the golf with lunch deal. When i asked the person there, he gave me an attitude by saying rudely that we're not open yet. I was told by the clubhouse it was open before I went there. I just said, whenever you're ready I will come back to get my burrito. Bottom line, as a customer i don't need that kind of attitude response. He could have said, sorry we're not open yet in a nice way.

David A.

Yelp
Never again. The course management has no clue how to handle pace of play. Tee'd off yesterday 10 minutes late and the round took 5 hours and 40 minutes. The marshall claims the mens club had a morning event and they put the entire course behind. He claimed when he asked them to play faster they did not listen. If the mens club wants to make this a private club they should purchase the place. This is not the first time the pace of play has been well over 5 hours put for me it will be the last time. The course is also in terrible condition with no grass in a lot of the fairways.
google avatar

C M.

Yelp
Head the warnings from myself and others on here about the pace of play. It took me 2 hrs 45 min to play 8 1/2 holes. Would have been a 7-8 hr round because the pace of play really stops on the back nine. I only played 9 holes and had to walk 8 and 9 because my cart died. I called the club house to and they said they would end another cart for me. I waited..... and waited.... and waited some more... and no one showed up. We saw the cart girl once on hole 3 and then never saw her again. When I went walking past the bar/grill after hole 9, I saw her cart outside and she was inside leaning up against the bar b.s-ing with what looked like some friends. The course condition is garbage. For $45-$60 dollars you would think this place would be better. To top it all off, I went in to the clubhouse to complain about my dead cart and the lack of beverage service on the course. The guy behind the counter asked me "So what do you want?" with a chip on his shoulder. First off, a-hole, don't ask me what I want. Instead, why don't you tell me what you are going to do for me. I am the paying customer. That's how this is supposed to work. I would never give my money to this course ever again!

Yelp
This is a diamond in the rough! With an abundant of courses surrounding Ventura county, my friends and i were surprised on how amazing this course turned out to be. Fast greens, challenging layout (similar to courses in Vegas), great staff and the burger is delicious for $55. Cant beat that! The only reason i put 4 stars is because some of the fairway greens were still under repair but will definitely be a 5 star when the new owner completes the TLC on this course! Already booked our next group outing at Sterling Hills

Yelp
The staff is professional and friendly. The course is in great shape and getting better. Greens are pure and fairways are in great shape

Yelp
Coaches are top notch!!!! Dan and Ryan are one in a million. Truly. They are incredibly talented, caring, and put their heart and soul into their work. We have worked with many coaches at different clubs and they are beyond rare. Front desk at pro shop are always so extraordinarily welcoming and professional. These are just incredible people all around. You simply can't find a better group of people! They make the experience head and shoulders above the rest!!!
