Sterling Ridge Resort

Absolutely loved our stay here midweek in February! It was so quiet and beautiful. The location is awesome if you want to ski Smuggler's Notch. The cabins were clean, adorable and the grounds were well maintained and beautiful even in winter. The only complaint is that the couch in Cabin 2 needs to be upgraded. It was pretty well used and sunken in, and as the main piece of furniture it prevented us from getting 100% comfortable. However, everything else more than made up for it. The bed, the bathtub and fireplace were much appreciated and we especially enjoyed the covered porch where we could grill our dinners with a view (we brought a mini camping grill). We plan to return and enjoy the resort in other seasons. I should mention as well that we had some personal issues with our travel dates, and the staff were very patient and accommodating with helping us change our dates through Expedia multiple times. Thank you so much.

First time visit to Sterling Ridge and the best compliment I can pay them is that we are already thinking about when we can get back for our second visit. From the kind and warm service at the front desk to the well-stocked store pantry to the load of wood waiting at the cabin, every detail has been thoughtfully provided for your stay. Easy access to Smuggler’s Notch for great skiing. Wonderful for families - and pets! Our Labrador was in heaven!

5 TRILLION STARS!!!!!||Spectacular, bucolic cabin retreat amidst a beautiful and tranquil landscape. All modern amenities in cabin (appliances, laundry, etc.). Wood burning stove in living room a huge plus. Staff was courteous, professional and very helpful. Nestled at the end of a private road, this cabin does not disappoint. A very special place dripping with small town Vermont countryside charm. Comfortably slept 8 (4 couples). Beds are very high quality and very comfortable. It snowed multiple days we were there and the road was impeccably maintained with salt and sand. A little slice of heaven. The charm and coziness of this cabin is simply amazing. Smuggler’s Notch right down the road. The small town of Jeffersonville has many lovely restaurants. Hanley’s grocery store down the road has all the essentials. One of the best family trips we have ever experienced. A true gem. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We had a fantastic cozy week between Christmas and New Year’s at Sterling Ridge! Our party of six was very comfortable in the field & stream cabin. The location is fantastic with very convenient dining, activities, and grocery shopping. What a treat that on our quick five minute drive to the grocery we got to go through a quintessential Vermont covered bridge! What a picturesque property they have. We enjoyed borrowing snow shoes by and sleds and taking a nice hike around the frozen pond. The small store at the office has everything you might have forgotten. Highly recommend! Hope to be back someday.

We just returned from a perfectly perfect stay at the Roost at Sterling Ridge Resort. The home looked great in photos and yet the reality far exceeded out expectations! It's a beautiful home. It was immaculate and every detail well thought out. The kitchen was well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. We were a group of 6 and there was more than enough space to gather or to have quiet times alone simply enjoying the gorgeous views. Beds were comfortable and the linens were wonderful (I tend to be particular about that!). We borrowed snowshoes at the main office and had the pleasure of exploring the grounds which was a lot of fun. Also I would like to mention how professional and welcoming the staff was - from our first contact on booking and throughout our stay. We couldn't have had a better time and are already looking forward to another visit.

We always love coming to Sterling Ridge every winter with our dog. The cabin is cozy and quite and clean. They supply us with everything we need: utensils, fridge/freezer, microwave, stove and oven, hair dryer, soap and shampoo. There's even a little shop on site to buy any goods you may have forgotten or may wish to purchase. Our cabin came with supplies for our dog as well including a bowl, poo bags, sheets and towels and a cover for the sofa. We were able to hit the trails and X-country ski and snow shoe right out our door. when we returned we could sit in front of our fireplace and warm up. The space heater provided in the closet was great to use to warm up the bathroom while taking a nice hot shower. Plenty of nice shops nearby and some good places to go and get dinner and a drink. For an upscale experience I would recommend going to Michael's on the Hill and for a more casual experience I would recommend going to Martell's at the Red Fox.

Exactly as advertised. Cozy, quiet, comfortable, and affordable compared to other comparable places in the area. Closer to Smuggler's than to Stowe if that's a concern. Wood burning stove kept cabin nice n cozy at night. Nice walking trails around the lake as well. Barb was a great host and does a great job maintaining the office and property. I'd come back again for sure!

Reserved the cutest 1 bedroom cabin. It came with a jacuzzi tub and wood stove. Super cozy. Everything was clean and it felt like such a good deal for the one night stay: I wish we could have stayed longer. Front desk was friendly and welcomed us. Beautiful porch that I sipped my morning coffee on while watching the snow fall. We will be back next year!

Just finished a 3 night stay. We are usually more of a hotel couple but wanted something more rustic. So glad we came here. First, the receptionist Allison was exceptional. She was very pleasant, helpful and had great recommendations. We booked the romance package and they gave us a beautiful basket with cheese, wine glasses, wine, crackers, chocolates etc. Not some "cheesy" (no pun intended) basic throw some items in a basket basket. The cabins were basic but very clean and comfortable (except the pillows) with a fireplace, big tub, full kitchen etc. Beautiful grounds which I would have taken advantage of if it wasn't rainy every day. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again when I am in the area.

So thankful we found this little gem!! We stayed here for 7 days in early September during COVID. It's a wonderful central location between the destinations/activities we wanted to do in the area - indulging in local pubs, exploring trails/waterfalls/gorges, poking around Smuggler's Notch, Burlington, Stowe, Cambridge, etc. We had our own private cabin tucked away in the trees. The gas log stove is lovely, the private fire pit came in handy, and the cabin itself (studio) was perfect for the two of us and equipped with all the fundamentals we needed. Staff are super friendly and accommodating, price was excellent, amenities, locations, and features were exactly what we were looking for.

We like to take off often, especially to rent cabins for their warmth and coziness. Sterling Ridge is only 30 minutes away or so and yet it's the one 'repeated stay we choose' time and time again! We are headed there again in a couple of weeks to celebrate our 35th and can't wait! As soon as you pull in, you feel like you're a million miles away. Greeted by peace and serenity, and combining that with all of the natural beauty of their property definitely has the ability to make everything else inside you just disappear, while a sense of calm and renewal wash over you. It is our favorite place to go! Cleanliness is huge for us and we've never been let down. The geese on the water are beautiful to watch and listen to.The trails to explore are vast. The view of Mt Mansfield is breathtaking. The cabins are well appointed with plenty of elbow space between neighbors. Great food choices just down the road and groceries close by as well. It's the perfect get away to us! We absolutely love staying at Sterling Ridge! The Chagnons

Beautiful grounds. On the surface the one-bedroom cabins are nice. But the dampness and smell of mold in them made staying in mid-September awful and making me sick. Tried the ac, heat, and leaving windows open and nothing helped. Dew all over bedding, towels, damp clothes, etc. Surely a set up like this could have that sorted by placing dehumidifiers in the cabins. Worst two nights being away I've had in a long time.

We just spent four glorious days at Sterling Ridge and are already planning our next visit. The cabins are clean and very well maintained, it fit our family of four very comfortably (we stayed in a two bedroom) and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were friendly and accommodating especially Max who always gave us a friendly hello! A general store and canoe and Kayak location were super close. While in the area we enjoyed Brewster River Grill for dinner and also traveled into Stowe for a few meals. If your a BEER lover The Alchemist is a quick 15 minute drive and a must visit.

I am in LOVE with this place! I stayed here last winter with my boyfriend on a trip to the Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury, and we are planning on doing the same this winter. We rented the 1 BR cabin and loved it. The location was great right on Smugglers Notch. The town of Jeffersonville is a very quaint New England farm town -you feel as if you've gone back to 1860 staying there. The cabin was ultra clean and the kitchen had every kind of pan and utensil for anything you want to cook. Sterling Ridge also has studio and 2 br cabins and offers free movie rentals and snowshoeing.

Go and then keep going over and over. That's what I did!! It's all it says it is and more. Clean, hospitable lots to do... hiking, paddling, horse back riding, breweries and distilleries. I'm a summer person , don't ski or do anything snow related so clearly I go in July or August but I hear the skiing and snow stuff is awesome too! It's definitely something to check off your list

review for Mansfield House It's fine. As a large house, it will do the job. But the website (when we booked, since updated) referred to the sounds and smells of a wood burning stove. A wood burning fire is rather a nice feature in a winter/ski rental. We were certainly looking forward to it. Unfortunately, no such thing exists in the Mansfield House. My surprise and mentions of the false advertising on the website were met with cursory apologies, but no compensation. That's not good enough. The mistake has been acknowledged and their website updated. It's a shame they were unwilling to do right by our party. Other: It's nice having 6-7 en suite rooms. Dishes and utensils are adequate. Cookware and cooking utensils are sparse. There were some dead lightbulbs about which paired well with the damaged fire alarms. The Mansfield House is big and was fairly priced. I just don't like being lied to.

We vacation here every year for the last few years. The cabins are very clean and beautiful. The surroundings are wonderful and there is so much to do no matter the season. Kayak and canoe in the large pond or take a dip in the pool. Go for a hike in one of the many trails or take a drive and check out the covered bridges. The locals are welcoming and very friendly.

I really love this place! We've stayed here twice now: July 2014: We stayed in a studio cabin; it was private and absolutely romantic. The bed was comfy and the grounds were perfect for walking and hiking. The pool was beautiful and perfect to lounge in. November 2014: We stayed in a one-room cabin with a jacuzzi and LOVED IT. Big, beautiful jacuzzi to soak in and a wood-burning stove to curl up in front of. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Loved walking/hiking along the trails. The staff is so sweet and friendly and I love Max and Rocky, the two dogs that run the place. We'd love to come back in the summer and rent the big cabins with friends! Perfect for a getaway; so private and romantic! Make sure to visit Boyden Valley Winery!!

Highly recommend! Very comfortable fully equipped log cabins in a beautiful setting. My husband and I spent three nights last weekend in a one bedroom cabin. The cabin could comfortably sleep a young family of four. The two person whirlpool tub is awesome as well as the glass fronted wood stove. We were made to feel so welcome the moment of check in. There was a wine basket with local wine and Vt. Products waiting in our cabin. Another nice touch. Six inches of snow fell on Friday when we were there. So everything was covered in white. The property was beautiful and the resort kept up with plowing and cindering their property. I will say the other roads were a little slick that came up to resort. But that was not a problem for us. My husband and I look forward to returning again and again. We'd like to experience the cabins in other seasons and bring our kids as well.

Just stayed there for the first time this weekend. It was after the kids went back to school but before the leaf peepers started so nice and quiet. Do recommend a all-wheel drive to get there and around the place but not required (at least in the non-snow season). Stayed in #20 - a one bedroom, non-dog unit. Looked like new construction, super clean and a soft bed. Had everything we needed - lots of towels, glasses, silver, plates and pots, even a few single use packs for the dishwasher included. Cable with a small flat screen in the bedroom, large flat in the living room with a DVD player. Beautiful grounds with two ponds and walking trails that connect to hiking trails for the area. Even saw some wild turkeys! We went when it was too cool for the pool and too warm for the hot tub. We did use the in-unit double Jacuzzi tub. Plenty of hot water and again, plenty of towels. We booked the two day morning escape package which came with enough coffee, pancake mix and real syrup that we didn't even have to go out for breakfast. And we got the two coffee mugs to take home. We went out and explored during the day and came back and cooked dinners at the cabin. For the same cost as an average room we got a fantastic value and a place all to ourselves.

We had an amazing stay at Sterling Ridge for my cousin's wedding weekend. We booked a two bedroom cabin and it was immaculate and cozy. I loved the porch! The kitchen was well-equipped too. Best part - I left a beloved necklace that my sister gave me and was devastated. I called and the person at the front desk said she would look for it. An hour later she called back - they found it! I was so happy. They mailed it back to me. So kind. I'd definitely come back here.

I've been coming to these cabins for over a decade. Family-owned, impeccable grounds, just a lovely place to vacation to be away from everything in the woods. Wonderful to get away and very clean. The double bathtub is a perk! When you come here long enough you start to feel like family. Love this place!

We enjoyed a peaceful time here during our visit in early June as a honeymoon romantic gift. I never saw such green farmland. Unfortunately it rained most of the time during our brief stay and was quite cool but we still enjoyed walks in the woods. I hung a hummingbird feeder but didn't get any visits however we saw a huge owl silently float at eye-level and a red squirrel was very friendly for peanuts:

Came here for a romantic getaway to see some fall foliage. We got the studio cabin. We arrived here around 8p and it was already dark. It's a little difficult navigating here in the dark. The streets aren't lit so we definitely recommend arriving in the daylight. The inn is located in a pretty remote area- away from the highway but close enough to town which is exactly what we were looking for. The resort has it's own trails and there's a lovely pond nearby. The cabin itself was clean and nice. It includes a kitchen and living area. They provide some toiletries- shampoo and two bars of soap. Pots, pan, silverware, enough coffee for one day and a coffeemaker. They don't provide dishsoap or a sponge though. There was also a fireplace heater which was crucial! Overall we enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here for 2 nights with some friends this winter to ski Jay Peak. While making the reservations, the front desk was very helpful to accommodate our late arrival. I never actually had to check in with a person since our arrivals/departures did not line up with desk hours. This was a huge help while coordinating a ski trip. We stayed in a 2BR cabin. The cabins are large and clean.There is a large common area/living room when you walk in with some chairs and a sofa and a closet and a wood stove. There is a queen bed in one BR, 2 twins in the other, and a pull-out sofa for the living room. There is a full kitchen (oven, toaster, microwave, etc) and a kitchen table. Our cabin had a porch that was overlooking a pond, and a grill. It was a nice alternative to a motel, or a condo due to the amount of space we had for all of our stuff. It was a comfortable stay and for the 5 of us, it was cheaper than any other option. The proximity to Jay was about 10-15 minutes. I definitely recommend this as a place to stay for a group while enjoying Jay!

This place was amazing! I cannot wait to visit here again! The boyfriend and I were here for a long weekend and we're already to book our next stay here. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. When we checked in, the woman at the desk gave us a local map and pointed out the good places to check out, where we should eat and what we should try when we were there. The cabin was adorable- just the right size for two people. As we booked the romance package, there was a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers waiting for us when we arrived. The cabins are clean and nicely kept, the bed was super comfortable and they had enough dishes/kitchen supplies to make you feel like you're in your own home. The cabins are spaced in a way that makes you feel like you're at a private retreat. We also were able to take some time to hike the trails around the resort. The trails are well kept and labeled and the views are amazing. We had a great time being able to wander around, but never feeling like we were lost. I only wish we had more time to explore the property. They were doing some construction while we were there and warned us about the noise, but we didn't hear a thing. Everyone here was so nice and accommodating that it was well worth the travel. I can't say enough good things about this place!!!

My boyfriend and I make up a young couple from the Boston area. We stayed for two nights at Sterling Ridge in the one-bedroom deluxe cabin in mid-December. We were looking for a cozy and private space in the middle of nature, where we had the chance to take shorts hikes in the outdoors (we hoped for snow!). Fortunately, we found all of this at, or near, Sterling Ridge. The resort is a little bit hard to find (we arrived at night, no GPS). Susan, the person who greeted us in the office upon arrival, was genuinely happy to see us and warm. Even though our cabin was within walking distance from the office, it felt private (however, I believe that since it was mid-week, the other cabins may not all have been occupied). The cabin itself was clean, cozy, and comfortable, as if we were staying at a friend's very-well-taken-care-of winter cottage. The wood stove was AWESOME (there was already a bundle of wood and kindling waiting in our cabin), as was the bed, extremely comfortable and clean (I am a bit nervous in hotel beds, but this one was great, complete with Laura Ashley duvet and a down comfortable). The bathroom was excellent, with a jacuzzi tub large enough for two (even two tall people!). There is a wooden table next to the jacuzzi tub, perfect for a bottle of wine to enjoy during the bath. In terms of the resort itself, we did not explore much. We decided to venture outside to savor nature. However, we saw that the game room offers foosball, ping pool, arcade games, and many board games in case the weather traps you in (which it hopefully will not!). There are great places to eat within driving distance, vineyards/breweries/distillaries, local farm shops, and of course, ski resorts galore. All in all, a wonderful, well-priced option in Vermont next to some great ski slopes. Definitely option for people who don't prefer the larger, chain resorts near the slopes. We hope to return to Sterling Ridge very soon.

Honestly one of the few reasons I look forward to winter is spending a few days locked in one of these awesome cabins with my boyfriend and our dogs. We've gone up twice and I can't wait for the next time! From the great and accommodating staff, who don't intrude and are only there when you actually need them. To the beautiful surroundings and the sweet and comfortable cabins! I just love it here! And can't thank you enough for being dog friendly too

We spent a week here recently (2 adults, 2 kids), just as the glorious Vermont autumn weather was kicking in, and had a delightful stay. Sterling Ridge is located about 1 hour from Burlington, right in the Green Mountains, and only 25 minutes from Stowe and many amazing hiking opportunities. Everything about Sterling Ridge was great. We got into VT late at night, and the proprietors made it easy for us to check in after hours and find our cabin. The cabin was just the right size for our family; it was clean, charming, and had just about everything we needed. The full kitchen and hot shower were really appreciated after a full day of hiking or cycling. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kids loved visiting Max & Rocky (the dogs). The price was reasonable -- a bit more than I had originally intended to spend, but it was worth it because the cabin was so nice and the location so perfect. I highly recommend that everyone schedule a trip to VT, stay at Sterling Ridge, and plan outings to Owls Head Summit, Stowe Pinnacle, and the Island Line Bike Trail (at least)!

If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place within easy driving distance of Smuggler's and Stowe, this is your place. The individual cabins are well maintained, the grounds are beautiful and the folks there are very friendly and helpful.

What a great weekend getaway!! We arrived during a snowstorm, it was so nice to finally see some snow this winter:-) We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin which overlooked the pond/lake, it was beautiful. I was very surprised with how clean the cabin was, the walls looked as though it was newly built. There was so much deck space as well, I imagine if it was summertime we would have spent many hours out there. There was a wood burning stove in our cabin, which was fun to sit around. The heat also worked well. Everything was at the cabin, even salt and pepper!! You only need to bring the food and drinks (and napkins) :-) I can't wait to go back either this summer, or next winter!

So I just spent this past weekend in Cabin #2 at this fantastic place. I promise it's almost a surreal experience being there. Walking into the cabin I could feel the peaceful atmosphere that would surround be for the rest of the weekend and sure enough it was the most peaceful and romantic ever I could've ever had. Me and my fiancé were received with much respect and friendliness, everyone was extremely helpful and nice, another person staying by one of the cabins next to the pond even showed us how to properly use the canoe! (Which was quite helpful since not me or my fiancé had ever been on one before lol). Well, I'll stop babbling and get to the point. The cabins are extremely comfortable and I was pleased to see that even though ours was a one bedroom one the place was really big. The kitchen was perfect, the bathroom with the jacuzzi was my favorite part of all (so relaxing)! King size bed felt like I was sleeping in clouds. All the surrounding area outside of the cabin was beautiful as well. Long story short not only would I recommend this place to EVERYONE but I'll also be coming back as soon as I'm able to get some more time off work. I'm in love!

Beautiful, clean, friendly, perfect for couples or familys..!!! In the middle of mountains beautiful cabins cozy just perfect really!!!

We found this place by accident last year and were hooked. The cabins are lovely and spacious, the grounds are equally nice, with trails, a pool, a lake (with boats) and a game room. The staff could not be more helpful, and genuinely so. Lynn and Jessica are some of the nicest folks I've ever met in the customer service world and they go beyond above and beyond. We've rented a 2br cabin both times. There's a place to build a fire, indoors and out. We have a 20 month old and they accommodated us with a crib and high chair so we didnt need to drag ours up there. And There are not only lovely things to do in Jeffersonville, but you're 25 min from Stowe and Smugglers Notch (not in winter) and less than an hour from Burlington. Perfect.

This is a beautiful resort! We stayed in the 3-bedroom cabin as a group and a 1 bedroom cabin as a family and they were equally wonderful. The cabins are spacious and cosy with plenty of outdoor space, including bbq area, picnic table and porch with classic Vermont wooden chairs. The kitchen comes fully stocked with plates, dishes, pans, soap, dishwasher tablets and so on. The common building near the pool (and hot tub!!) has a game room with a ping pong table, pool table and plenty of boardgames. It also includes a laundry facility with washer and drier (only $1 each). Canoes and paddle boats are freely available on the shore of a small lake near the cabins. We had a lovely time.

One of the best places to stay! The staff was very friendly and they answered all of our questions. This was by far the best vacation I have taken and its because of where we stayed. I will be looking into another stay with Sterling Ridge!

Great place to return year after year. Plenty to see in nearby towns. Hiking trails, views, if staying close to home for rest and relaxation is what your looking for. My husband and I just love bring our little pet with us to vacation.

Stayed in the studio cabin for a three day getaway. It's close to Burlington, Waterbury, Stowe and the likes. We also chose Sterling since it is close to Mt Mansfield and since we enjoy hiking, it was a must. Once you are in Jeffersonville, there is a very small main street type area, a triangle almost of the restaurants/shops. It was a neat little (tiny) town with plenty of dining options (and a farmer's market on Wednesday evenings!). Sterling Ridge is tucked away nicely in beautiful scenery, with PLENTY of walking trails, many of which they maintain on their property. The weather was perfect for 99% of the time and we were able to explore much of the grounds and enjoyed the outdoors and what Sterling Ridge offers. The studio cabin we stayed in was perfect! Obviously, everything is all in one area (bed/love seat/TV/small dining table) but it felt roomy. Everything was clean and very Vermont-feeling. Exactly what my girlfriend and I were looking for. We had a nice view of one of the ponds on the property too. The employees and guests alike were all kind and welcoming. Since it is a small town, everyone seems that way! Overall, Sterling Ridge is a perfect place to stay probably any time of year. Loved everything about it, and will be back sometime soon hopefully!

My boyfriend and I spent two nights last weekend in a 1-bedroom Deluxe Cabin (or "honeymoon cabin" as they refer to it on their website). It was SO adorable and romantic and we even contemplated moving in if there were more closets ;-D We wanted a nice relaxing weekend away with nothing else to do but enjoy the peace and the beautiful sights around us. The cabin itself was the perfect size, had everything you could possibly need, and felt like home. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the bathroom had an amazing jacuzzi tub, there was a DVD player and cable, and the wood stove made the cabin warm and cozy for our movie nights. The tub gets nice and hot and we felt like we were in a spa soaking in there. Our cabin was close enough to other cabins to feel not too secluded from people, but far enough away that we never once heard or saw anyone from the neighboring cabins, so we still felt like we got our private romantic getaway. I believe the owner said they have about 26 cabins now, and they did a great job of spreading them all out. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and always ready to help you if you had anything you needed. They even let you borrow DVDs from their collection for free, in case you forgot to bring your own. Jennifer checked us in and was very helpful when we asked which restaurants around town were worth checking out. We loved driving around taking pictures of the mountains, barns, and covered bridges. We bought ourselves some groceries in Montpelier on the way up so that we could cook most of our meals and their kitchen was stocked with pretty much everything you'd need for your basic meals (pots, pans, cutting boards, silverware, plates, salt & pepper etc). We also ordered their breakfast basket which was really cute and was waiting for us in the cabin when we arrived. It came with really nice resort coffee mugs, yummy pancake mix, VT maple syrup, and a bag of the resort's coffee. We spent Friday night through Sunday morning there and it still wasn't enough time, especially because it took us about 6 hours to get up there and would've loved one more night. We decided about 5 minutes after walking into our cabin that we were going to make this an annual (maybe even semi-annual) trip. We highly recommend to everyone! Can't wait to go back!
