Yelp
One of the growing number of local beer microbreweries in the Finger Lakes. Steuben is located on the southwest side of Keuka Lake, on elevated land with some overlook views of the east side of Keuka Lake. Visited with a small group at the end of September 2020.
Steuben's taproom is a modern, bright space with high ceilings, subway tile, soothing green and gleaming stainless steel accents, with bar, bathroom, and refrigerators with beer cans to-go (or growlers) and merchandise. Lots of seating in the spacious patio right outside, both shaded and not, more in a nearby covered area, and some scattered in the large, scenic green area surrounding the taproom. Much of these seats are communal picnic tables great for small groups. There is a food schedule for evenings on Thursdays/Fridays, and most of the afternoon on weekends, offered from food trucks or local catering. There are also better quality cheese, charcuterie, and cracker snacks for purchase.
In late September 2020, Steuben had 9 of their drafts on tap, leaning on hoppy with five IPAs, along with two pilsners, a cream ale, and an Oktoberfest. Order in reasonably priced 1 or 2 pint sizes, or choose a tasting flight of four 4-oz pours for $10. Fortunately for groups with non-beer drinkers, Steuben had a half-dozen regional wines by the glass (leaning on whites), available in a tasting flight of four 2-oz pours for $12 and a quartet of regional ciders, which can be all tried in a tasting flight of 3-oz pours for $14. Overall brew quality was good to pretty good, and fun to try.
What really makes a trip here worthwhile is spending time in their exceptional outdoor space. It was lovely to be here on a late autumn afternoon, enjoying the brews/beverages overlooking the spectacular views, as the sun cascaded beautifully through clouds.
