"Then I was off to this place called Steve Maxwell. It’s like the shop in the city for vintage drums. And thankfully it was a six-block walk from there to the rehearsal space. I hate lugging drums, honestly."

Good Hands Drum Shop is the only option for a serious drum shop in NYC. They carry sticks and brushes that are not available in any other music store, nor online. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and kind. I highly recommend checking it out, for anything drums.

Was visiting from Toronto. Exactly the atmosphere you’d like in a drum shop! Cozy, vibey, and welcoming. Great selection of used and vintage stuff. They have 2 rooms to try gear out. I was able to try (and drool) over 3 pairs of 15” hihats. Staff was great. Definitely a must visit. Support your independent drum shops! 🤘🏼

Gave two cymbals on consignment to this store and both sold within 10 months. I received PayPal payment and receipts promptly.

Jess Birch, the Owner of GOOD HANDS, is the Drum and Cymbal (1) Whisperer, (2) Historian, (3) Teacher, (4) Wiser Brother, (5) Sherpa, (6) Player, (7) Coach, (8) Air Traffic Controller, (9) Shopkeeper, (10) Aficionado ... and more. One who welcomes and regards customers as friends, and treats them like family, he is generous with his scarce time and boundless knowledge and experience, with patience and never even a trace of a superiority he has well earned and deserves. He is the exceptionally rare real deal, and it doesn't matter if you walk out of the shop with a free sticker, a $3000 cymbal, or a vintage kit, or a priceless snare. I eagerly travel for hours to his shop -- which is in reality a drummer's clubhouse, studio, hardware store, and library. Jess is one of the coolest cats you will ever meet. You can make book on it. And if you get your gear from anybody else, you will never know what you are missing. They say "if you know, you know." If you go to GOOD HANDS, you will "know."

Good hands is great! They got all the gear you want, good deals on used stuff and they are kind. No attitudes just a passion for drums. If you’re in the city, go here!
