"A pioneering contemporary art gallery with spaces in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the Stevenson presents artists from near and far. While there's a strong focus on promoting local work, the gallery has been instrumental in bringing international talent like Thomas Hirschhorn and Glenn Ligon to the southern part of the continent. The gallery occupies a former garage in Woodstock, one of Cape Town's hippest 'hoods. The industrial space is clean and cool, with a good amount of room—you won't need to elbow your way to the art." - Mary Holland

Deborah Poynton’s exhibition was my first way into the Stevenson’s Gallery recently. What a perfect building for a gallery. Double volume ceilings and generous inter-leading rooms take you on a wondrous trip from one work of art to another. Despite being in the buzz of Woodstock the gallery is still - a place for contemplation. Exactly what I love about beautiful galleries. I look forward to the next exhibition and so should you!

A sublime space created for the display and exhibition of our local art - I attended the CT Art Fair and the Stevenson gallery stood out for many reasons - not least of all their curation of magnificent and arresting works. Just go -

Beautiful art, beautiful space. The flow of the gallery is amazing! I was there for an opening so there were a lot of people appreciating the art and interacting. The gallery itself is run well and the team there always willing to assist, talk and explain. I am not very much into art but I really loved being there! You feel like you belong there, and not like an outsider. I can't wait to go back.

Genuinely one of the best art galleries in all of Cape Town. The size, scope of art and information provided made it both a moving as well as informative visit. Was my first time visiting the gallery but I immediately felt at home and in my element. Surrounded by fellow art lovers and appreciaters, it was a pleasant, peaceful and extremely enjoyable experience. Whether a seasoned art lover, or just looking for a good way to spend an afternoon, Stevenson has something for everyone. The wide range of mediums and works available as well as the completely free entry warrant a visit for anyone in the Woodstock area and I would go as far to say that it deserved for you to go specially to see it! I can't wait to see the next exhibition...

I took my students to the gallery and they had a wonderful time. The staff were incredibly helpful. They even went the extra mile to inform us about the exhibition, had information accessible for the students and really made us feel welcome. I believe it is so important to make spaces accessible to all and my experience with Stevenson Gallery Cape Town really provided that. Thank you.

Very helpful staff, even though it was over New Years and most of the staff was on leave. They kept the gallery open for us after closing so we could see the extensive collection.
