Went to their special Christmas Day dinner with my Father. We have eaten here before, but never their Christmas dinner. It was a set menu with 2-3 choices for each of the 4 course meal. We had the 5pm sitting and arrived early and the service was friendly and efficient. The appetizers were tasty from the shrimp cocktail and bacon scallop to the lobster bisque. For mains we selected traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and lamb chops. Delicious and very large portions as well. Dessert was the also good. Overall an excellent dinner experience and one that may become our new Christmas day tradition. I do agree with some other reviews about the interior being a bit bland, although they did have some interesting Christmas ornaments. But it could use a bit more "warmth".

The food was very tasty. Make sure you come hungry so you can enjoy a full meal. I recommend the Thai Seafood Bowl. For dessert, the Apple Crumble was absolutely delicious! However, the orange juice had an odd taste. If you like oysters 🦪, don’t hesitate to order them—they were excellent. The service could use some improvement. While the waiters were kind, some cutlery was dropped a couple of times. It would also be great if the waitstaff were more attentive. Also, we waited a long time for our food. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. I really enjoyed the music, decorations, and overall vibe.

We were a family of 3 tonight, and we went on a whim. It was a beautiful place, and I was worried about how we would be treated since we weren't dressed up and had a baby with us. The people who worked there were so great! They made us so comfortable and welcomed us. Honestly, it is the best customer service we have EVER had at a restaurant. Our server was amazing. (Wish I got his name) he even brought crayons for our baby. The food was delicious as well. I ordered the sockeye salmon special, and my husband ordered the striped bass. EXCELLENT. They went above and beyond, and we will be back when we visit CA again!

Google
Bad service and extremely unappetizing! Came here with my family for a birthday dinner and we left quite upset. I wouldn’t recommend this place as in our experience the service was absolutely lacking and the meals were not worth the price at all. There are much better restaurants in the area which I would highly suggest looking in to if you want a better dining experience for a much cheaper price! Our orders had taken over an hour to come as the staff had completed forgotten to bring it to us - leaving it cold. Our oysters took far too long as when it was served to us the ice had already melted into water. When it came to the quality of the food it was extremely unappetizing. We fish we ordered tasted frozen and our pasta was bland. The schnitzel was also bland as were the weirdly textured mashed potatoes. The ONLY dishes I can recommend are the beef ribs and the lobster bisque. I would also note that for an expensive restaurant the interior was quite lacking. For the quality of the food the price was not worth it at ALL! Don’t waste your money and check out the many other amazing diners in the area.

3 years in a row of celebrating our birthdays here. Such an elegant dining experience. I always order the whole fish & am so impressed. The lobster bisque was totally delicious as well. We will be back again! Thank you!

I was here for the seafood fest a few months back & it too was amazing, but my BF purchased us a special members dinner (3 course for $45 each.) It was like wow! An amazing deal, because the food was perfect. I am a "dine snob" as you might have noticed; (it just means I am a picky eater.) What I loved most was that the beef was braised for 6 hours like they said it was. The portions were big. The presentations - superb. And the service (Brendan) our server- was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. Top-notch! - My only complaint is the layout of the restaurant & the decor. Its too cool... & kind of lonely feeling. I can think of some reasonably inexpensive ways to warm it up. Add some colour, art, + a faux fireplace, knock out some of the walls or partitians. Add warmer lighting. Perhaps bigger mirrors along the one wall so as to make the long skinny room look more open. Anyway, Im a dine snob- not an interrior designer. The food is excellent & so is the service. :-) Ps. My hubby had the red snapper with carrots & vegetables. Very nice.

Google
What a lovely surprise. We came here for brunch, not knowing what to expect. We had a gift card to use, and we had gone for a walk through the Britannia Shipyards. This redtaurant is a nlick off tge waterfront but well worth searching out. Ella was our server and she was perfect. The food was delicious.

Google
A Steveston fine dining gem 💎 Shaw the “buck a shuck” sandwich board outside, and decided to give this restaurant a try. Service was outstanding, oysters were fresh, drinks were great, the salmon was tasty, and overall atmosphere was nice. The red thai bowl could use a little more coconut milk & lemongrass - but overall the taste was good! We will return to try out other things on their menu.

Yelp
A very popular restaurant We got the done out vancouver special Lobster bisque, not sure how much lobster you get in it but it tasted good Lobster ravioli, lots of ravioli and a good amount of filling, I was pleased The panda Cotta was really good

Nicky P.

Yelp
I have never had a bad meal here. I love the food. The service is always on point. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy but with enough formality to let you know you are in a fine dining establishment. The prices are commensurate with the dining experience provided. This is not a family restaurant. I cannot think of better place to celebrate a special occasion.

Lee Y.

Yelp
Enjoyed the ambiance and food here. The service is also great, they got us more bread a few times. The best part was the oysters! A buck a shuck! Will come back for more seafood!

Belle S.

Yelp
You can smell seafood as you enter this restaurant. Lol. They were busy but they have a table for 2 open so we got seated right away. What can I say? It was seafood heaven! We shared the Appetizer Platter and a Red Thai Seafood Bowl. Everything was delicious and I can't get enough of the Seafood Bowl. It had tons of fish, clams, mussels, shrimps and scallops. The broth was excellent with the perfect balance of heat from the Thai chili and sweetness from the coconut milk. It was excellent and a must try. I told Chris if we ever come back here, I'd order it again, and again and again and we won't be sharing anymore. Lol.

Olee L.

Yelp
Sunday brunch is great! Cute place and nice ambience. Food tasted so good! It was cold and my seafood thai soup is so huge and tasty! Wish it comes with a garlic bread tasted. There is no $7.5 for 6 oyster during sunday brunch.

Yelp
This restaurant has wonderful customer service and very attentive staff. The owner, Shane, is a true delight! It is a great place for date night, parties and private events (inquire with the restaurant on those options of course!) The oysters were a bit lacklustre in size so that was the only overall disappointment. The jumbo prawn cocktail is an easy crowd favourite as well as the devils on horseback's - I mean who can resist bacon wrapped scallops? Their calamari and sweet Thai chicken is good but nothing I'd particular run back for. The sablefish is so light and tender. The mighty Fraser was cooked to perfection and the vegetables portion was absolutely great! I am so over going to places that serve 2 tiny veggies and call it a day! They were roasted well and very flavourful. The tiramisu was done wonderfully. Light and you could really taste the layers! The blueberry cheesecake is a great staple too. Moist and decadent and not at all overpowering with the compote. Overall it is a wonderful dining experience - a bit in the pricier end but it's worth it for the right occasion. There is street parking available in and outside of the village.

Yelp
The Stevenson Seafood House has been on my radar for a long time after hearing wonder reviews from friends living in the area. I was excited to get a table with my friend for the 2023 Dine Out this weekend; however, it was a disappointment. Maybe it's the Dine Out which can be rushed? To be fair, I will come back at another time to give it another try and select seafood and not beef. For our Dine Out Selection, the entire table of 4 selected the same: Homemade Clam Chowder, AAA Filet Mignon (6oz with grilled seasonal vegetables, roasted potatoes and lemon béarnaise) and one of each of Lemon Tart and Tiramisu to share between 2 people. Food: the clam chowder was delicious and had full clam flavours and came to the table warn. One of my friend received a very small portion of beef. Very noticeable and we inquired. Was told it shrunk due to cooking but offer another smaller piece. It was nice of them but not in a very friendly manner. Three asked for medium-rare and one asked for medium and all not consistently cooked. We were not sending back as it would be wasteful and the seasoning was fair. The tiramisu was frozen. Guess it's a new style? The Lemon tart was very smooth and full of tartness but after eating a few bites, I notice a purple colour under the tart and when I inquired it was blueberry. I'm highly allergic to blueberry and took Benadryl when I got home. The lemon tart was not listed on the menu with details but only as house dessert incase they run out and able to offer what was left. Service: we were warmly welcomed upon arrival but everything seemed to slide from there. Our waitress was friendly but really didn't have time get to know us or even to ask in there were any food allergies at our table. Very robotic and I could see her running off her feet serving a large section. I don't blame her as it was a busy evening. We just felt like another "Dine Out Table" as they say - in and out! Ambience: the restaurant was lightly dimmed so created a warm atmosphere. No music so easy to chat within the table. We didn't feel relax that night as it was not a smooth dining

Yelp
Great food, very nice service, pleasantly surprised by the quiet ambiance. Thank you!

Yelp
Last night"s meal was perfect in every way. Nice professional greeting on arrival. Our server, a very pleasant young lady named Annie, was excellent...very cheerful, helpful and efficient. The oysters were fresh and decent sized. The seafood share platter was great. Not a lot of food but very tasty. The bacon wrapped scallops were superb. No tuna tartar as advertised and the replacement smoked salmon on a crostini was the least impressive of all the different tastes all evening. It was missing something. But still ok. We finished with the seafood linguine which was perfectly al dente with beautiful fresh flavours. The Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect accompaniment to all parts of the meal. The restaurant was fairly busy but service was very efficient and the restaurant had a very pleasant, professional ambiance. Well Done!

Yelp
We had another wonderful evening at Steveston Seafood. We had requested our favorite table when we made our reservations. We had a wonderful semi-circular table for 2. We were in a good location in the restaurant and could see all the activity but we were isolated and had total privacy. Our waiter, Aaron has been our server on previous visits to Steveston Seafood and he is one of the best waiters we have ever had to good fortune to be served by. Water and a nice basket of warm bread with butter was brought to our table while we looked over the menu. We were trying to make a decision between 2 bottles of wine. We decided to go with the wine from a winery that we are familiar with. Aaron happened to overhear us discussing the wine and he offered to let us try the other wine for the same price. If we did not like it he would bring us the wine we were originally going to order. We did enjoy the new wine. It was a nice way try something different. For an appetizer we shared the calamari with chipotle aioli. The calamari was very tender and it was very good. I asked Aaron about the wild salmon as it was cajun with shrimp and tomato and I was concerned that it might be dry. Aaron said that there should be no problem. It was overcooked and I decided to return the dish. My husband also tried my dish and he agreed that it was a bit dry. Aaron took the dish back to the kitchen. I had the sablefish with miso and sesame seeds instead and it was amazing. The fish was very tasty and perfectly cooked. My husband had the same dish and we both enjoyed it immensely. Aaron charged me the price for the salmon even although the sablefish was more expensive. For dessert we had a raspberry semi fredo. Aaron comped our dessert for us. It was nice and light and a perfect way to end our evening. After we paid our bill and left Aaron came out the door as we left and thanked us for our patronage. I have to say that he had 3 other tables that he was serving and they all received the same care and attention to detail that we did, so we did not receive preferential treatment. Steveston Seafood is one of our favorite restaurants. We always have such a wonderful night out when we go. Steveston itself is such an interesting community to walk around and explore.

Yelp
A big chunk of meh. Having eaten an excellent seafood meal a couple nights before in Victoria, this place just sadly paled in comparison. The first sign of trouble was when we were seated and some employees and other dine-in customers were not masked. My family was also not checked at all for any proof of vaccination, despite it being mandatory for restaurants the week we dined there. We ordered the seafood chowder, crab shrimp avocado salad, red thai seafood bowl, beef carpaccio, calamari, and raw oysters. You know you were in for a bad time when the best part of the meal was the raw oysters and the salad, and even then both were merely passable. The calamari and red thai seafood bowl both lacked any taste. The seafood chowder was also quite light in flavour, though not as bland as the calamari and red thai. Overall everything lacked flavour and tasted almost the same, except the oysters and the avocado salad. While service to us was good, we saw through the fact clients and employees were not masked at times, plus they didn't follow protocols. Due to this we won't recommend this place to people we know.

Yelp
APPETIZERS: Complimentary bread 7.5/10: Served warm, crust is crunchy w/ a soft centre. The butter with it wasn't too special tho. Fresh shucked oysters, $18 for 1 dozen, 8.5/10: Smooth & sweet, but a little tiny! Only improvement is to make sure the sizes are consistent. ENTREE: Marinated miso sablefish $39, 9/10: Soo soft and buttery, melted in my mouth! The miso flavor was pretty subtle & I enjoyed the asian touch w/ the bok choy. The rice also compliments the fish nicely although it was kind of dry. Overall still pretty good! DESSERTS $7 each: Cookies n cream cake, 8.5/10: Surprisingly not too sweet, and there's a good balance between the cream and cake. More cookie bits would've been better for a unique texture! Apple crumble, 7/10: Good amount of apple & crisp with the cinnamon flavor! I would've enjoyed it more if it was hot since it was luke warm. DRINK: Cranberry mojito mocktail $5, 8/10: Tangy and sweet with a hint of fizz! Doesn't taste watered down at all so I recommend this one. Price & portions are great! For 10 ppl it was around less than $700 w/ appies, drinks, entrees, and dessert. I recommend going for the seafood since that's what they're known for! The exterior of the place is old cause Steveston Seafood House has been there for decades, but the interior will surprise you! It's kinda in between casual and classy, so you can go for a nice gathering or a date The service was lovely too. Me & my family did not feel rushed at all cause there's a 3 hour limit for larger groups! The manager who was our server was polite and humorous, which made our experience more enjoyable.

Yelp
There's no way to properly describe our "meal". My drink was way off balance and I felt like I had a glass Of cheap vodka (not Ketel one). Our scallops in bacon were pretty decent although the sear was a little lacking... but it went downhill from there. Calamari wasn't cleaned and we ended up with a long piece of cartilage that was missed. Filet mignon with pacific crab...medium rare. We received blue rare (maybe even a bit less than blue rare) and when we confronted the waitress (she was sweet though). The chef didn't fire new steaks...but threw these back in the pan. Now for you and I, that doesn't make a difference... But it's grounds to have a restaurant close it's doors from the health and safety officers. It should've been thrown away and restarted once a plate touches the table, it never goes back in the kitchen. Unfortunately, when the steaks arrived back to us... there was a new problem. The chef/owner never let the steaks rest and because of that, the béarnaise sauce was watery as hell and it up being a bloody mess on the plate. We could've used a desert bowl for all the blood and juice So after all of this is said and done... Did the restaurant comp our meal for all the problems? Did they offer us 20% off our bill or even offer us free desserts? No... Handed us a bill for almost $200 as if everything was fine

Mavash L.

Yelp
First of all the wine of $16 for whatever ounces came in that tasted more like vinegar than anything else! If you are from out of town and new to this restaurant, don't bother going there! The appetizer that was cold came at the same time as the main meal that was seafood platter. Why did they do that I still don't understand! I have to say though that the best part was the bread and butter! The seafood platter was all dry and not worth the money! When I complained the server said why didn't you say anything! Because how much can I complain after your vinegary wine? How do I know what will happen next! Anyway, $150 after we left all upset and feeling like shit! Remember that when you are unsatisfied it stresses you! .

Mac M.

Yelp
Excellent! Delicious tasting food every time, accompanied by superb choices of wine... offering a "shirt off the back" service 10/10.

Faye D.

Yelp
My husband & I were looking for a restaurant for dinner because we have never been to Vancouver we are from Los Angeles. Steveston Seafood House was recommended & I can see why . Walking through the door the charming ambiance is elegant & we were greeted immediately & taking to our table . The server was just like a family friend making you at home & answered our questions & made suggestions. The food was delicious we even had room for there delicious desserts!

Jen P.

Yelp
If I closed my eyes, I could have been at Denny's...no words can accurately describe how disappointed we were with this restaurant. I was so excited to take my mother here for Mother's Day, but were met with an overcrowded, over heated restaurant with no air conditioning. We were stuffed in the hottest, noisiest table in the back corner. The food was okay, but it was so hot that I found myself rushing to get through it to get out of there. Our server seemed more interested in conversing with the the couple next to us with their three children, from France (one of which had been throwing food at us) and we were largely ignored for most of the evening. When we got up to leave, our server heartily thanked the family from France and said nothing to us. Well we're local and we won't be back.

Charles B.

Yelp
It is always good to be pampered, but to also served FANTASTIC FOOD is what life is all about. Restaurants rely on Great Chefs and having your chef running her kitchen for over 43 years is certainly a recipe for success. The absolute best Oysters Rockefeller I have ever tasted paired with a perfectly chilled bottle of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc is a great introduction into LOBSTERFEST !!! Asparagus perfect, red peppers great crunch and colour, oven roasted potatoes and Zucchini surrounded my perfectly cooked LOBSTER TAILS. ROBIN, kept our wine glasses at just the right level and we savoured that wonderful meal. A full house tonight but we never felt rushed Proprietor Shane took time to visit and make sure we were happy with Every detail. AND WE ARE. THANKS SHANE see you again soon.

Carrie G.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for our 20th anniversary dinner tonight and had a horrible experience. The steak I ordered medium was almost burnt and well over done. They also forgot our side dish. When I sent my steak back (which I NEVER do, but it was just that bad), it didn't come back until 20 minutes after my husband was done his dinner...plus it was also black and well done once again! When the server came to ask how it was I indicated it wasn't great but she just walked away and said nothing! In the whole time I was waiting no one ever came to ask if we even wanted another glass of wine or more bread or anything. We were completely ignored even though there was only ONE other table of people there! When she finally came back to our table much later and I told her it was also much too well done she offered to take the steak off the bill which was very nice but I was not offered another meal so I left our anniversary dinner having not even eaten a meal. After we left, we went to Britannia Brewing so I could actually eat something and had fabulous service there. What a difference! If you're looking to eat out in Steveston I highly recommend Britiannia... NOT STEVESTON SEAFOOD HOUSE!!

Iris A.

Yelp
Steveston Seafood House (SSH) is a must when in Steveston. Their food is delicious and their service is attentive. My family and I very much enjoyed our dining experience tonight. We sat in the quieter space which was isolated from the other diners, just the way we like it. Our servers were pleasant and thoroughly attentive, checking on us often to ensure we had everything we needed, we surely did! We ordered a few appetizers: calamari rings, mussels in tomato and wine sauce, bacon wrapped scallops, and beet with feta salad. The calamari rings were tender and the batter was light and crispy. The mussels were super plump and juicy. The scallops wrapped with bacon were tasty but anything with bacon is always tasty. For our mains, we ordered 3 fish dishes (sturgeon, ling cod, and sablefish), and 1 filet mignon. I didn't get a chance to taste the steak but the 3 fish entrees were delicious. My favorite out of the three would have to be the sablefish. It was melt in your mouth like butter delicious! The sturgeon was their special feature for the night. It is the firmer fish out of the three and was my mom's favorite. The ling cod was a large piece that was herb crusted. SSH has certainly upped their game and I am definitely looking forward to dining here again soon.

Yelp
September, 2020 My hubby and I Tried their $1 fresh oyster special @ stevenston seafood house. we had 2 dozens of fresh oysters. Few of them got shells inside, Their service are friendly and fast. too bad our favorite honey mussels with tomato and white wine sauce were out of order. I like their beef carpaccio and rack of lamb. We had 2 glasses of wine, 1 small bottle of champagne, 1 Smirnoff ice and few more dishes for dinner. Got stomachache afterwards, maybe seafood not that fresh.

C. H.

Yelp
We stopped by for brunch over the weekend. Service was attentive. Food was fantastic. We really enjoyed the crab, shrimp and avocado salad, lobster benedict and halibut. The complimentary scones were a nice start to the meal as we waited for our food. Presentation of the salad was done well. Lobster benedict was cooked perfectly. There was a good amount of hollandaise sauce. Lobster meat was sweet. Halibut was moist, tender and flakey. My elderflower fizz was okay. It was floral with a hint of lime. My only complaint is that raw oysters are not served during brunch. Another customer had asked for the same item as well. The restaurant only offered that item during dinner unfortunately.

Frank F.

Yelp
Steveston Seafood House is a perennial favourite. It's a great to go for an evening out with a date or a group. The atmosphere is laid back yet classic. The food never disappoints. The oysters are a perfect starter.

Sharline G.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening filled with excellent food and attentive service. I highly recommend this venue for your next dinner. The meal was as delicious as it was beautifully presented. 14 of us raves about our meals. From the halibut to the rack of lamb. Thank you for letting us enjoy to our hearts content. We will be back!

Stephanie T.

Yelp
My mom chose to come here for her birthday so I went ahead and made a reservation on OpenTable. It turned out to be a great choice - my family agreed that the food and service was very good! My only complaint is that it's a little dark at night to take a good picture. Our Famous Appetizer Platter ($15 a person, min 2 persons): tuna tartare, bacon wrapped scallops, sauteed prawns, smoked salmon and goat cheese on a crostini. For the price, it's a good value for the variety you get. Portions were like 1-2 bites per dish per person. I think they could improve on presentation for this one. It came on 4 small dishes, on top of this "stand". I think a small tower would work better, as the stand had arms that reached a bit too far. Roasted beet and goat cheese salad ($10): this was a very good portion. Lots of beet pieces that surround an arugula salad, topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Crab and shrimp avocado salad ($12): this was presented in a tower, with avocado on the bottom and shrimp on the top. The avocado had some unknown hard bits in it. Crab and shrimp mixture was good. Sablefish ($29): this was recommended by the waitress, and I am so glad that I ordered it. The fish was melt in your mouth and perfectly seasoned with miso. It was a generous portion, too. It came on top of a bok choy and green/red pepper mix. The bok choy was delicious. I asked for an alternative to the rice that normally comes with the sablefish, and she said they had scalloped potatoes that night, which I gladly accepted. These potatoes were tasty! I would definitely get this again. Bouillabaisse ($28): my mom ordered this. She felt like it was good, but a bit ordinary. In other words, she's had better. It did come with a lot of seafood, and a good variety of it. All their desserts are house made, including the ice cream. After trying 2 of them, I am excited to come back and try the rest! They really impressed me. Chocolate bomb ($9): I was super excited to try this. It is a chocolate globe that is hollow, and inside is the mousse. There are peanuts around it, and you pour a warm ganache over the chocolate that melts and exposes the mousse. So fun and impressive, but wait! It also tastes AMAZING. The mousse mixes with the peanuts for a chocolatey peanut buttery taste. I would come back again just for this! Mason jar creation ($9): they have a limited number of these every night. That night it was tiramisu. The flavours were all good and what I would expect for a tiramisu. Creamy custard and soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Although very good, it could not compare to the chocolate bomb. For a special occasion, we'll definitely be back. I also plan to bring my aunt here when she comes to visit. The fish and dessert are so good! This place is definitely overlooked - I highly recommend it to anyone for a nice dinner.

Kate V.

Yelp
This place has mediocre oysters and really horrible service. I came here with a group of 7 with my family. The reception rolled her eyes on us when we said 7. They were rushing us the whole time to finish. Customers are customers regardless of what they order. Do better.

Karen C.

Yelp
We were really impressed with the food and service here. They personalized the menu for us as we reserved indicating it was for a special occasion. We sat right by the window. Quaint little restaurant situated in touristy Steveston. Nice to have this fine dining experience amongst all the casual cafes and restaurants. Seafood salad was wonderful, perfectly balanced. Sablefish was perfect, so smooth. Blackened halibut was good but a little dry. Service was good.

Edward T.

Yelp
I went here recently with my spouse for our anniversary. The ambience of the place is very calming and relaxed. We had great service and the right amount of attention from our server and bus person. Food was very tasty . We had the halibut dish special and it didn't disappoint . I would have given it full stars has the portions been just a bit bigger but it was suffice to just fill me that night and their is complimentary bread. Overall I would recommend this place highly . A real gem in our Steveston community .

Lauren L.

Yelp
So, if you've never been here before in this quaint little town of ours. You're missing something that has been a part of the community for decades. As in my previous review I've had their vegetarian meal and I've had it a number of times since and I still love it. I think it's the meal that even meat lovers could have to wean off of a heavy meat diet because the doctors said so. But then I got this from the Steveston Seafood House "Attention Oyster lovers! The seafood house is pleased to announce that this will be our last buck a shuck ever. (Oh NO!! I said) The reason for this is that we will now be offering dollar oysters all the time! That's right, beginning today no more waiting for oysterfest or happy hour to enjoy oysters at a bargain. Every night all night, oysters at the Seafood House will be just 99¢ * Royal Miyagi * Kumomoto * Effingham * chefs creek * and more! for only 99¢ each. Available.....ALL THE TIME" Wow I was afraid it was going to be some kind of catastrophic announcement that oysters couldn't be consumed anymore or that they became a pasta place or worse! Golly geez you guys! You scared me. Let me say this. When you come here. I am sure you will have a lovely dinner experience. Good eating everyone! Hmmmm I'm gonna have to do a YouTube Foodie thing on this place someday. Typos free of charge with every review if it's thumbed on by iPhone

Dominic Y.

Yelp
Must try dishes are: Seafood Platter for Two, Prawn Cocktails, Clam Chowder and Red Thai Seafood. Pretty good food and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Karen S.

Yelp
Went for dinner with family on Saturday night. Great food. Great service. A hidden gem in Steveston!

Rupiah J.

Yelp
Love their prix fixed menu it was a good deal and nice ambience. The service was good and everyone in our large pretty really enjoyed the meal!

Karleen D.

Yelp
The manager checked on every other table but ours, they cleared off every table but ours even though both the manager and busser saw dishes stacking up. The only difference between our table is we are queer and obviously on a date. Food wise, the linguine was alright, my partner got the maple ling cod AMAZING, the appetizers and drinks were so so. Would not return.

We were trying to decide where to eat for a lovely date tonight. I suggested we go to Steveston Village because it's always so calm and peaceful there. I had a craving for seafood (especially fish), so we browsed through Steveston seafood restaurants on Opentable. Steveston Seafood House had many great reviews on there, so I booked it. Also, Lauren L. gave this place a fantastic review on Yelp, so that's why I was more inclined to eat here -- she is one of my favorite Richmond Yelpers. I notice that Linda Y's review from August 6th saying the staff do not wear masks. When we arrived, the staff were wearing shield masks, so they must have adjusted to that. I actually would like to get the same mask for myself, it seems like it would be a lot more breathable and I like that I can see a person's face and expression under that. I forgot to ask the staff where they get those. So for those who are worried about Covid-19, please be rest assured that the staff are wearing masks. There were hand sanitizer and cleaning agents on another table, but I had my own hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes with me so I didn't need to use them. My friends told me that they try to go to restaurants that offer menus online (so they don't have to touch menus that the rest of the public touched). I had forgotten to ask the restaurant this and they gave us physical menus to browse through. My suggestion is have an online menu, or just mention to guests that the menus are wiped down each time (I hope they are!) I used my hand sanitizer after using their menus. The tables were spaced very far apart, so social distancing was in effect here. Our hostess/server was very warm, nice and friendly. The seafood chowder was so delicious. I highly recommend that as one of the appetizers. We had two salmon platters (one was a special and the other was from the regular menu). Being an artist, what struck me was how colorful the plate looked with different foods. Someone from the kitchen had put thought into how the dishes would look with certain vegetables and rice. I loved the splashes of red, yellow, green and orange. The entree was generous too, I could not finish my dinner. I had to bring it home and eat the other half (as a matter of fact, I'm eating it now as I'm typing this review up). I wanted to try their desserts but I was just too full eating the dinner. So many restaurants I have eaten at served bland fish, but here, the salmon was so tasty. There were some type of seasoning on it, very subtle but still so good. It had the slightest subtle hint of India to me when I ate it, I don't know how to explain. But still a very Westcoast style and flavor fish. The vegetables were fresh and not soggy nor overdone, they were just perfect. Food and service was excellent at 5 stars, interior around 3.5 stars (lovely but felt a little lacking -- as if it were missing something), and the view maybe a 3 (an ocean view would have been a big plus). I give this venue overall a 4 star rating and highly recommend it for seafood and fish lovers.

Yelp
I came here last month randomly for dinner. Found it thanks to the reviews on Yelp! It wasn't too busy so got a table without problems. Ordered the beef carpaccio to start. I found the beef to be extremely thin and wouldn't have any taste if it wasn't for the sauces on it. Was told the bread was fresh, but tasted like anything but. It was hard like a rock and not because it was meant to be crispy. I had the "Mighty Fraser" as my main which is basically a filet mignon topped with crab. While the steak was done medium rare as I ordered, I found the steak very tough to chew. It was also lacking in the taste department. The only thing positive I can say is that the server was super friendly. He was phenomenal. Even if the food was half as great as he was, I would have had a much better experience.

Yelp
Spontaneously dropped by after work and ordered the following: -Buck a shuck oysters (3/5): There are 4 types of oysters to choose from Kusshi, Kumomoto, Chef's creek and Sawmill fanny bay. Of course, I got one of each to try. To my disappointment they didn't look fresh and a bit small. Not what I was expecting from a seafood house. Probably that's why they got this promo going on. -Coconut prawn and scallops (4/5-$15): You get three prawns and two scallops served to you in a spoon filled with coconut milk broth. This was super delicious. Both the prawns and scallops were cooked perfectly and the coconut milk broth was a delight. The side salad it came with was weak. It had no dressing and was just greens put on a plate. -Appetizer platter (3.5/5-$15 pp): It consists of Abacore tuna tartare, Qualicum Bay scallops wrapped in European double smoked bacon, mandarin orange and lime sauteed tiger prawns, smoked salmon and goat cheese timbale. The tuna tartare was disappointing. The tuna was dark in color (not the good one). It's suppose to be a vibrant red, but no this didn't look nor tasted fresh. It was served on top of a deepfried nori which was not crunchy either. The scallops wrapped in bacon was tasty. The prawns were also good. I liked the sauce that came with it. Tasted like herbs with butter and a bit of citrus but I remember the server saying something about brandy. The smoked salmon & goat cheese is pretty straightforward - can't go wrong with that. The crostini that came with it tasted good. It was drizzled with some balsamic. Yum! -Rack of lamb (4/5-$33): I asked for medium rare but it came out medium well done. That's a fail. BUT it was so tender and still moist I did not complain. It was well seasoned and didn't require any sauce. Looking back at the menu in hindsight, I didn't get any prosciutto and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a brandy sauce. It tasted like a red wine reduction that was taken too far that it turned sour with a slight bitterness. Oh this dish was so elegantly plated that it came with an edible flower that looked like an orchid....and I ate it. I asked first though. Verdict: Flowers aren't really my thing. -Chocolate bomb (3.5/5-$9): Usually not a chocolate fan but ordered this for the theatrical effect. I sort of got it. It certainly wasn't what I saw others had on their instagram. The chocolate shell was lovely. Very rich and sweet chocolate flavours mixed with some peanuts. This would pair well with a cup of espresso or simply milk. Drinks: -Full sail (5/5-$6.95): Pineapple, vodka and gingerale -Elderflower fizz (5/5-$3.50) -Sangria (5/5- Free with yelp check -in) Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5 star rating with a round up to 4 stars. The service was mediocre. They cleared our table as soon as we're done with our food and topped our glasses frequently. They didn't clean our tables despite it being dirty and doesn't provide new cutlery until asked.

Yelp
We had dinner here last night - called at 6 pm and got a reservation for 7. All the staff were very professional, polite and had great senses of humour. We ordered our non-alcohol drinks (work dinner), we ordered the seafood sampler appetizer which had garlic shrimp (4), breaded calamari (4), some tuna tartare on a light wafer (2) and 2 bacon wrapped scallops.....it was good - my favourite was the tuna. - all the seafood was fresh and everything was delicious - I would have grilled the squid instead of deep fried - but that's me I ordered the Richmond Schnitzel which has breaded and fried pork cutlet with shrimp and crap on top with béchamel sauce also had a couple baby potatoes and veggies. It was delicious !!! And so large I could not finish it. We didn't have dessert even though they all sounded amazing. Menu - super delish - must return to try more ! Our server (wish I could remember his name) was very nice and service was fantastic !!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just had our anniverary dinner there! It was our first time going there, It was nice in there but its a little bit too squeezy in there, the table are pretty packed. Wish it was more spacious! We order the salt spring mussel - it was a little bit disappointed as the mussels are really tiny for it's price. I was hoping it was big as it said "salt spring"... As when we went to Riverway club house last time their server told us salt spring mussels are bigger than regular mussels...or it's not true??!but the sauce it super duper good, its good with the bread too! Oh yeah! Their bread is really good! Very soft! We had oysters too, not much to say about it, decent for it's price and freshness! And then out main dish, the Sablefish was so good, melt in your mouth...however, when i bit some of the Bak Choi it had a really bitter taste which i have to puke it out...other than that it was a great dish! The steak are soft, not much to say about, decent taste but not much surprises... Service was okay! Not much surprises with this place but I would still recommend this place!

Yelp
Have the clam chowder! Have the clam chowder! It was the New England kind, and oh so delicious. The clams were plump and the creamy chowder wasn't too rich, so it was a perfect starter. The coconut prawns appetizer was a highlight, as well. I did not believe it until I tried it, but coconut flakes and coconut milk complements prawns better than I thought. Each mouthful was incredibly juicy. As for the salmon phyllo pastry main course, the phyllo pastry was flaky and perfect, but the salmon fillet in the centre was too thick, dry and salty. The prawn risotto was too cheesy and rich for my preference, but the prawns were marvellous. The first few bites of this dish were satisfying to the tastebuds. In a nutshell, I would say check this place out if you're okay to splurge a little and you're craving some chowder, or if you're in the Steveston area and are looking for a nice place to have a seafood dinner.

Yelp
Average restaurant, so that's why it's 3 stars. We had the following: - the bacon wrapped scallops were ok. - oysters didn't taste fresh - sablefish was disappointing. Didn't taste fresh. The vegetables underneath were over cooked and mushy. - Lamb... it was passable for a seafood restaurant. Service was super slow and I don't understand why as it was 5:45 when we went in.

Yelp
This restaurant is one block in from the waterfront but we'll worth the visit. The pecan crusted ling cod with ginger, soy and maple glaze was delicious but the Schnitzel seafood was even better (according to my husband!). The decor is simple and the lighting made for a romantic, yet not stuffy, ambience. I do love a restaurant that has white table cloths! The service was top notch and she informed us that starting May 5th, on the weekends, they will be open for brunch (crab eggs Benedict.......yum!). We will be back!

Yelp
I am writing this as we are in mid dinner with friends Possibly the worst oysters I have ever had!! Taste old and Not fresh, very dry where's the natural liquid from them the person who shucked these needs some lessons in how to properly shuck a oyster. Ordered two types of oysters by what the server had said the had and only received one type but felt like they came from a tub Ordered the shared appetizer between 5 people cost 75$$ and was one piece of each for yourself asked the server she said it's because it's seafood!! I worked in the business and for what we were served was maybe 10$ worth of food for the chefs food cost. The mains were not much better. Had high hopes for here as I went off of the reviews on line. This was a better night to stay home and enjoy dinner inside with friends. Will not be back!!! Update here's a photo of the 75$ shared platter :( Was shocked when it arrived at our table

Yelp
This time, because of the pandemic and as we are recovering from COVID-19, we decided to order in from the Steveston Seafood House. It did not disappoint. The food was luscious and rich tasting. Each of the four of us had something warming, hearty and well-flavoured, cooked to perfection. This is the most hearty and elegant take-out ever. As a side benefit, they keep their staff employed by having some of them do the delivery. The delivery was prompt, friendly and safe. I would certainly recommend this, either by choosing from their very affordable special take-out menu or their regular menu. You can even order family-sized portions. Doing a good deed, supporting a locally-owned and run business and their employees, never tasted so goo.

Yelp
decent service/ a tad on the slow side edible food/ some dishes are badly presented and are bland and looked and tasted dry family friendly lots of free parking around high price for quality and quantity/ not worth it if I had to choose 1 dish : coconut shrimp would i go back? No

Yelp
I came here with my family one day and decided to try it out after buying a Groupon for this restaurant. In sum, the service was great, but the food was quite disappointing. Beef Carpaccio - nice seasonings/sauce which gave it flavour, but it was definitely way too thin so you're basically just eating the toppings. Almost as thin as parchment paper. Mussels - extremely small and lacked flavour. Clam Chowder - probably one of the better dishes out of this dinner; it was creamy and the flavour was pretty good. Prawn Risotto - the prawns were nicely seasoned, but the risotto was bland and tasted like mush. Red snapper: essentially a fish and some vegetables piled on top of a bed of rice. The red snapper lacked flavour, was chewy with an almost "rubbery" texture.

Yelp
Came here for a family celebration. A closey place to be. The server was really nice and professional. We've tried lots of food from appetiser of oyster shots to share platter. Main dish including Sabel Fish, King Crab Legs, Thai Seafood Bowl, Filet Migon & Lamb. The only setback is their soup which is a bit too buttery and Halibut. Don't forget to order the chocolate bomb!!!

Yelp
In the heart of Steveston lies this seafood restaurant which has been around for 30 years now. There's a reason it's lasted so long, it is arguably the best seafood in Richmond. I repeatedly see it listed in the local community paper year after year rated as #1 seafood restaurant as well. I think it's because of the Captain Vancouver platter. It basically has every kind of seafood you can think of. King crab legs, scallops, clams, mussels, salmon and some other fish I can't remember now. It's definitely well worth the price tag so don't be put off. Also give the Lulu Island Seafood Bowl a try it's also to die for!

Yelp
Definitely a pretty nice seafood restaurant down south! I came here a few days ago since I was in town for a delivery. It's kind of a small(er) restaurant so probably not the best for big events. Has a family business vibe but I'm not sure if it is. Server was very polite and funny as well, which is something you don't always get at fancier places. The dishes themselves are good, but slightly overpriced in my opinion. The $1 oysters are fantastic.
