Stiefel Saarbrücken

If you are looking for a scrumptious original veal schnitzel and the best damn sauerkraut in Germany, this is the place. The food, service and atmosphere was flawless! The Stiefel was a high end brewery with a nostalgic feel. Everything from the vintage newspaper menus, from the 1930s fonts on the coasters and glasses added to the artistic flair in this throwback establishment . Remarkably, the waitress was fantastic and was skillfully attentive although she had a crazy busy workload. Definitely Saarbrücken‘s finest highlight.

I visited Stiefel and the place is huge! I really liked the ambiance, it’s fun and welcoming for all kinds of groups, whether you’re with family, friends or a team for dinner. We ordered the grilled chicken breast (Gegrillte Hühnerbrust) and hot chocolate and both were delicious. At first, I wasn’t happy with the service, but it improved later on. I would definitely recommend this place! Just make sure to reserve a table before you go, as it gets super busy after 6:30 PM!! :)

Atmosphere was very unique. The food and service were just ok. It's so big they have a map of the place in the menu. Worth a visit.

I liked the specialty beer and the food. Also, the service was extremely quick and friendly. Maybe it helped that we got there rather early, around 5:45pm, as the place filled up quickly afterwards.

Would we be back again? A very big YES. The Stiefel original beer is fantastic. I will definitely like to test it again. Food was good but not great. I ordered a soup meat dish which was slightly bland even though the portion was really generous. When eating the meat, out of the soup, it felt dry. Nearly 10 mins after finishing the dish I was given fried potatoes with a sauce. And hey presto. I realised that the sauce and potatoes supposed to be eaten with the meat and that would have made the dish Nearly perfect. I'm disappointed that was not the case. The Snitzel my partner had was ok as well.

This restaurant must be one of the very best places to eat in Saarbrücken. The food was fabulous, and the beer was beyond tasty. The dining environment is new and very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Was great to visit the newly remodeled Stiefel. I have a lot of memories from before it was remodeled, and am glad it is open again. Beer was very good! Food was good (not great though). Service was friendly, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. I plan to come back, but maybe just to try the self-serve beer table.. an annual visit, or with out of town guests.
