110% worth the drive from Vienna! Admont Abbey Library is so breathtaking in person that no photo could do it justice. Every inch is stunning from the floor to the ceiling. I'm not surprised it's called the 8th wonder of the world by some. The other attractions at the Abbey were very interesting (my family particularly enjoyed the science exhibits), and the grounds were relaxing and beautifully maintained. Best of all crowds were practically non-existent compared to other cultural attractions in major cities in Europe. I would consider this a hidden gem 💎💎💎

I have been wanting to see this Library and the grounds for nearly 20 years. And finally had the opportunity. Ohhhh it is stunningly beautiful, and the story of its founding and survival from the fire is amazing. The natural history Museum and the Church and the entire town are absolutely a must see. The Admont Abbey Library in Austria is a Baroque masterpiece built in 1776. It is the world’s largest monastic library.The monastery's entire library collection consists of around 200,000 volumes, including manuscripts and rare books. It's a hidden gem for lovers of history and books.

Its a well preserved place and absolutely beautiful, all the artwork and the amazing number of books there, its astonishing!

What a gem! It is definitely worth to take a guided tour and get to know all about the library and its hidden corners.

This destination is more than just the Abbey Library, although that is the main attraction. It’s exquisite. The entire place is SO worth visiting. There are several museums under one roof - all part of the Abbey. The contemporary art museum features work commissioned by the Abbey (all Austrian artists) since the 90’s. The natural history museum is fascinating and indicates, as an extension of the library, that the Abbey is a place of learning. The Gothic and Fine Art museum is also quite something. There are also multimedia displays which are very well done, but in German, which is fine and to be expected. None the less, we watched them. The overall design is very accessible and beautifully executed. This should be a must-see place for anyone visiting Austria.

This place took us completely by surprise and it was simply amazing. The library was the highlight of course, but the museums were absolutely stunning, especially the natural history museum. Their collection of insects, birds, mammals, reptiles, etc. is fantastic. Our kids enjoyed it a lot!! Very interactive as well! Totally worth it and the library left us speechless… including the lovely lady from the staff that provided us with additional information.
