Fantastic choice when here. Meals are full plates and delicious. They do offer an American written menu as well if you need it. Service was great and timely. Seating inside or out.

Had lunch here while visiting Innsbruck, Austria. We were walking around and heard the music and was looking for lunch so we stopped and thought we would check it out. The atmosphere was fun and lively with the great music. The service was good and there were lots of choices on the menu. There is a multi language section on the menu which was nice. We had the cheese sausage, chicken, spatzel, and salad. Everything was really good. If we go back we will definitely go back.

Google
Located at very best place in city center food was very good. Service was very fast and food arrived very warm. We ordered Kässpatzle and cheese peppers with Pretzel. We sat outside but you have very nice ambience inside. Wine tasted best in town.

We recently dined at a charming restaurant in Innsbruck that offers a delightful taste of traditional Austrian cuisine. The food was quite good, with a nice selection that included veal, veal goulash, traditional goulash, trout, and venison. The venison was delicious but unfortunately overcooked. The trout was a must-try, while the traditional goulash soup was a standout dish—absolutely amazing! The veal goulash was tasty, though the semolina balls lacked flavor. Our kids enjoyed the pancakes with ice cream and chocolate sauce, which were generously portioned but served cold. The customer service was friendly, and the restaurant had a lovely traditional decor. Unfortunately, parking was not available, and although there were tables outside, they were closed on the day of our visit. Additionally, the restrooms had a slight unpleasant odor. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with room for improvement!

Google
Excellent restaurant. We arrived without a reservation and it was really full, and they still managed to find us a place for 3. The waiter was kind and helped answer our questions. The food arrived very quickly and was very tasty. I recommend you come to this restaurant. We really enjoyed ourselves and will come back here.

Google
I accidentally ordered venison without realizing it was deer meat — but it turned out to be really delicious! It didn’t have a gamey smell at all, and the meat was so tender. The lasagna was also tasty, and the portion was quite generous. I was really full after the meal!

Google
Have been here twice while visiting Innsbruck. It is a classic bavarian-style pub with a huge capacity. The waiters were doing what they could but it is not simply managable during rush hours so waiting to be served is not uncommon. Otherwise the food and beer was good and I liked lively garden atmosphere. I had a sausage selection with pretzel, ox muzzle salad and baked potato with smoked trout. I recommend ordering mass (1L) to avoid constant waiting for beer (if you are a beer person like me from CZ).

Google
Food was amazing! Had the bavarian sausage with pretzel and then the Käsespätzle and they were both amazing! Service was super quick too I only waited 5 mins for my food once I ordered!

Yelp
Went here based off the recommendation of our tour guide and I really enjoyed it. The staff was definitely not the friendliest and I don't think they love tourists which in a tourist centric town probably isn't the greatest identity to have. The food was super delicious. I got the pork schnitzel which was really great with the cranberry. Honestly there were so many dishes that looked so good to eat but I wasn't sure what was what. There were different languages available for the menu which was nice, I wish there were maybe some photos to go with them. I also wish the drink menu had other languages. Overall good atmosphere and the food was delicious.

Bijoy S.

Yelp
Excellent service, very accommodating to young kids (the well-behaved sort). The food is exceptional, even surprisingly so in some aspects. The historic brewery ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Overall, it was a perfect spot for dinner after some mountain adventures!

Yelp
Stiftskeller is an atmospheric restaurant and beer garden serving Tirolean and Austrian dishes in a casual setting. To start, the Tiroler Jausenteller was a plate of assorted Tirolean appetizers including smoked bacon, Tirolean cheese, cold roast pork, horseradish, a spread of lard, and a sausage spread, all served with brown bread. We also had the trio of dumplings, which came with a spinach, onion, and cheese dumpling, each of which was doughy, chewy, and cooked with butter and Parmesan cheese, which added a nice salty flavor. Finally, we had the Mixed Salad as a side, which came with a variety of salads including pickled carrots, pickled cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, greens, and potato salad in an acidic dressing. Of everything we had, my favorite components were probably the sausage spread with bread as well as the salads, but everything was tasty and came at a good value.

Yelp
More like 3.5 stars. The lady that served us wasn't very friendly. The food itself wasn't bad. The food is super traditional and authentic so if you're not used to that, it might not be your thing. I loved every single dip though. My fiancé enjoyed the beers. So nice stop if you want something very unique while you're in the area.

Keith L.

Yelp
A fantastic place to either launch or end your old town pedestrian experience. Great sense of history, great place to meet folks, both local and international.

Chris C.

Yelp
The beer garden is nice with full cover. Good busy atmosphere. A drinking place so the food is decent but not outstanding. Had boiled beef with potatoes and spinach, and salad with chicken breast - both kind of bland, chicken too dry, good portions. Service is laid back - you seat yourself and it could be a while before they get to you especially when busy so you can't be in a hurry. If sitting at a larger table when busy others may ask you to share. Good for people watching as it's right by the palace.

Jim B.

Yelp
Great place; food, service, and ambiance. Both mini beer hall and beer garden in one. Had goulash (which was a little spicy) and schnitzel. Staff were helpful and attentive. Close to shopping. Be careful of beer garden as smokers like to light up.

Olga S.

Yelp
A very boisterous beer hall, with tasty traditional food. We came here cold and hungry after a hike, and we left very satisfied! The beef goulash was right on point, as was the Tyrol tasting platter, which was an assortment of smoked meat, speck, mountain cheese, etc. The waitress had to be summoned a few times, but the food came out quickly.

Teresa M.

Yelp
The service at this restaurant is terrible! It took longer than 30 minutes to get our food and others got their food before we did. Our hostess sat my husband and I down then a waitress came and took our order. We did get our starters quickly but noticed other people who order after us got their food before we did. We never saw our waitress after she took our order! We asked a waiter if he could tell us where our food or waitress was and he answered " I don't know." Then our food finally came and we told that waiter who brought our food to table about our problem and he said " I don't know about your order but here's your food!" When we finished our meal, we waited for our bill, but our waitress never came, so we went to the bar area to pay. We told that lady about our food ordeal but she did not care and she said " I don't know!" She called the waiter who we originally told our problem to and he checked us out. We will never come to this restaurant again and we DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant at all. We come to Innsbruck, Austria about once a year from the USA, but we will never come here to this restaurant ever again. This restaurant has very bad service!!!

Marlon T.

Yelp
For super amazing beer and food, Stiftskeller is the place to be in Innsbruck. I'm a forever fan of the beerhall and this one is unique and legit with lots of history on its walls. People rave about the Beef Goulash which was pretty good, but I can only eat a few bites of it before it overwhelms my taste buds. You must definitely try their dumplings. I recommend getting the dumpling sample (3 different ones) and wash it down with a liter of their well-crafted brew. Places like these are what makes Europe so great.

Hui Boon W.

Yelp
Food is great. Service is ok and ambiance is just a homey place . We love the food cos it is tasty and tasted homemade. Although it was busy the 3 times we were there, they were careful w our food allergies .

John S.

Yelp
Fantastic! Great ambiance. They take care of locals first so tourists expect to find a Reserved notice on the tables. Even after you sit down. We had an Edelstoff hell and a Vollbier hell. They are hardly distinguishable, but good local beer just the same. Next time, Weissbier. I had 893 Six grilled sausages with sauerkraut and mustard. It was delicious. Best I've had since coming to Austria. She had the Wurstlopf - three different sausages, two different mustards, and a pretzel. She liked it. I only tried the frankfurter and it was tasty.

John K.

Yelp
If you are looking for a typical bar/restaurant this is it. The prices are reasonable. The service was fast...and beer was pretty good...although the selection was somewhat limited.

Tanya Z.

Yelp
Very nice place to eat! Great food, love the selections. Only thing is service was slow. Slow to refill our drinks and to get our check. Otherwise I would eat here again! 4+ stars!

Shirin P.

Yelp
Enjoyed our meals at Stiftskeller. It was a busy day, because it was raining outside so most people wanted a shelter, and of course it was lunch time. Photos speak a thousand words.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I enjoyed just about everything here. Great food and people watching. Pros: Food was delicious. Best spatzle I've ever had (from Munich to Berchtesgaden to Brooklyn...) and fantastic mushroom ragu. Beer tasted fresh and was delivered quickly. Spacious seating with great people watching. Prices were fair. Cons: we waited a long time for our food... Over an hour. Seemed like an oversight bc we go an appetizer.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Our hotel made reservations for us. A perfect place to experience authentic Austrian food! I got the Innsbucker Snitzel - very good.

Bree H.

Yelp
So good we came here twice! The best service in Innsbruck and delicious and massive menu. Loved everything we got. Menu in a bunch of languages.

Duane D.

Yelp
We picked this place based upon Yelp reviews. It was also pretty crowded, which is a good sign. Despite this being a large place with a sprawling outdoor patio, the service was reasonably quick and attentive. The food came out exceptionally quickly and was very tasty across the board. Prices were reasonable too. We were happy with the experience and would recommend Stiftskeller to others.

Linda W.

Yelp
I had a tough one with this. We were so thankful they found us a table. They actually gave us the last table. They sat the two of us at an 8/10 person table. We were starving, and good came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Waiter was jovial and happy to give us recommendations. The one thing is that while the food was good, it wasn't stellar, but that may just be that I don't appreciate Austrian/Tyrolean food? Overall a solid place to eat and would again if I couldn't get seated elsewhere. I do like to try different restaurants so unlikely to be back

Gary N.

Yelp
Great food from the region but if your a tourist visiting this is certainly a different type of place. First there is not an obvious entry point to be greeted fir a table. First come first table but several entry points. For an American this is very strange. No order or line, no name taking, etc. After going in circles for a while we ordered a beer and ask how we can get table. 15 minutes later we found our spot inside as the temps were cool this night. The food was great but service slow. Even after the plates were removed it took a long time to get someone to take desert order. With that said the food was good. But service and lack of order brings my review down some

Cole D.

Yelp
The only reason I don't give a 5 is only because of service. The food is delectable. In my only 3 days in Innsbruck, I went here once every day! Authentic and delicious! Be sure to have the apfel strudel with custard. TO DIE FOR. I also had the schnitzel and goulash and rosy pork. All fantastic and filling meals; however, the service was annoying. The waitresses always seemed to be bugged with us and rushed us. There was attitude. Once we saw a waitress leave a group table and throw her platter down on the ground out of frustration. That's not a good image for a restaurant.

Christopher C.

Yelp
We showed up here on a busy summer evening. It was crowded, and we knew what we were up against. That being said the staff was punctual, friendly, and the food was amazing! We were out on the patio and started with a big old beer. As we were letting our legs rest from exploring the city we just sat back and enjoyed the people watching. There was music playing and people dancing in some kind of street show. I ordered the Käsespätzle and sausage. It was pretty amazing! After we finished the staff was quick with our bill. I would go back to this place hands down! If they can get us in and out with a smile on our faces on a day like that, I have to recommend them! Great job folks!

Eric Z.

Yelp
Ok, if your starving and nothing else is open, all you have open is this place, I guess it's better than sucking on ketchup packets and eating peanut M&Ms from the hotel vending machine. On second thought, go for the vending machine. PROs - The half chicken was very good. SO IS EL POLO LOCO AT HOME. We got the chicken as a back up since we were worried about the quality of the "Authentic Austrian Food". That paid off, see CON list. CONS - Everything else. The beer was weak and bland. The Wurster Platter was 3 sad little food colored Oscar Myers tinny wiennies. The pretzel tasted totally bland and the mustard sample came in little packets like my Delta flight. Please excuse any typing errors as my hand cannot stop waving the flys away, they seem to be enthralled with the cuisine. The place was filled with locals, so we though that was a good sign. As we pondered and chewed our meal, searching for some flavor not removed by the microwave in the kitchen, we came to the realization that the locals are all here drinking because it was the only place open on Sunday. None were eating. Good lesson, observe the locals, but much more closely next time.

Eunice L.

Yelp
First restaurant we saw coming back from Swarvoski Crystal World at congress station. No regrets. Ambience 5/5 - Feels like a tavern right out of a story book. You'd expect Gandalf and his hobbit friends making merry in this bustling place. The room, or rather, hall is very spacious. Great for large groups. Boiled beef 4/5 - I was in the mood for something guilt free. Beef is a little plain (but I mean, it's boiled), but the spinach is the bomb. I love spinach. Tirrolean Kedgeree 5/5 - the saltiness of the potato mixes well with the meaty taste of the fish. Great tryolean dish. They've got a huge variety of dishes on the menu, and a section of local food. Good place to dine, conveniently located in old town and opens late too.

Kevin A.

Yelp
Disappointed in the evening. Service was not good, our waitress had no social skills (wasn't friendly at all), and we had to flag her down every time we needed something (more drinks, check on our appetizer, order more food). The food was C- at best. Sausage sampler was fine, hunter's game ragout was below average, and my husband liked the aspic. Would not return.

Daniel A.

Yelp
This place is not a restaurant - it's a factory! We arrived here at around 20:00 o'clock and had to wait for a while, the waitress said we could sit in the "Bierkeller" or wait. As everybody smoke in pretty much any other room but that we decided to stay because my friends were too hungry to look for anything else. So after a long while we were finally able to sit, took them a little time to approach us- but when you're hungry everything looks like forever. We just had to take over a table, none of the crew members didn't help us. So why factory you ask? Because once we ordered, it took less than 5 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was quite decent compared to the size of this place and my expectations- We took a wiener veal schnitzel that was really good. Beef goulash that was well cooked and very tender. And for the first time - cheese Spätzle that was tasty! I haven't tried it for many times... But when I did it was not too good. The dishes are quite big and the prices are good compared to this place (I found it rather touristy) And the best thing of them all - they have Augustiner kegs! This beer is even better when not bottled. For dessert we had a chocolate cake that was not too bad but we could've skip it. And to sum it all up- the service could have been better but everything else was pretty good, was expecting a lot less, if you don't want to leave the touristy area this is a pretty good choice!

Rob F.

Yelp
Great place for Beer and good food with friends. Every time I am in Innsbruck I stop in here. This time with family and we enjoyed the beer, food and outside dinning. Wish we had a place like this in the States.

Erin H.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I experienced the perfect Radler here. Absolutely delicious. I had 2 and wanted to have 10. We shared the Obatzda (Camembert with butter for those of you who haven't tried this fantastic concoction) with pretzels and sausages with sauerkraut. Everything was tasty. Service was surprisingly attentive for a beer hall. And the atmosphere is cozy. Loved our dinner here.

William H.

Yelp
Very nice and clean restaurant, the service was good and the food was average. Close to the Congress building and other things in downtown. Had to wait a little for the food to be prepared but gave us time to chat. Beer was good and cold.

Edu A.

Yelp
This is could be more of the famous places at Innsbruck. You could taste many tirol flavours and they place inside is nice, its an old monastery. The staff well, they just do their job, no extra smile or really kind at all. The price is a bit above of average.

Yum E.

Yelp
If you are starving and absolutely must eat, it's fine here. The food is just okay. The service is just okay. Let's start with service. We walked in and since no-one was there to greet us and there were no signs giving directions on how/where to sit, we had to ask a busy waitress what to do. She said to sit anywhere. She was nice, I guess. The waiter we "got in the way of" (since we were trying to find a table), was not as nice, and gruffly told us to move out of his way, while we were trying to find seating. Btw there is a large dining room for non-smokers (but you can still smell faint traces of smoke), and a medium size room with a bar for smokers. The waitress we ended up having was pleasant enough. On to the food. We ordered beef goulash, weiner schnitzel, and the 3 dumplings (appetizer). Everything came out in 5 mins, which was a little concerning. It's like they just have things in the kitchen ready to serve, cafeteria style (like sitting under a heat lamp or in a tray over hot water (the actual word escapes me right now). Everything we ordered was okay. I definitely think there are better versions of everything we ate there that night. The schnitzel was most disappointing. I don't even have to include pictures, just look at everyone else's. It's just okay. If I had to share some positives, it would be that the decor was nice (stereotypical Austrian bar/pub motif) and I guess the prices were reasonable? Overall the food and experience was just okay.

Jeff E.

Yelp
My favorite dinner spot in Innsbruck. Hearty food in a beautiful vaulted ceiling room. Over 2 trips eaten here 4/8 dinners. Hearty Hunters Ragout and

Klothilde K.

Yelp
I used to love to eat here, but the quality of food and how it is prepared has changed in the last 2 years. The taste of many dishes remind me of those autobahn restaurants (Rosen-something). Everything seems processed. The Gulasch is tough, the Graukas is covered with onions that are Hacked in big chunks (not finely sliced like before), the kaspressknödels in the soup are shaped like MacDonald beef patties and have a Maggi aftertaste. The beer is good, the service is good, the atmosphere is great and the bathrooms are clean.

Denise M.

Yelp
OK, I have to say, when we first walked into this restaurant we were completely confused. It's not like you walk in through the front door and someone seats you. There are many hallways and rooms. No host. There are so many different rooms in this restaurant, and it was hard to find any staff who wasn't running around to give us a quick minute to tell us what the process was to get a table. Eventually we found ourselves in a random room upstairs and sharing a table with another couple. To this day, I'm guessing that you just find a table and sit, because that's what we ended up doing. I started off with a green salad. I think they forgot the dressing, because it was basically wet mixed greens. I was so hungry at that point, I just ate it. For lunch, I ordered the weiner schnitzel with boiled potatoes. It came with a little jar of (what I believe to be) cranberry compote. Whatever it was, along with the lemon juice I squeezed onto my veal was delicious. The potatoes were, well, boiled potatoes. No flavor - so I just ate some to break up the bite after bite of meat. Hubby ordered a roast pork with gravy that came with a pretzel dumpling. He wasn't too crazy about it, but in my hungry phase, I thought it was very good. The pork was very tender and the dumpling very unusual - gravy was very tasty as well. All in all, a good meal. Would I recommend? Yes - but of course, if we find ourselves in Innsbruck Old Town again, we have to try another place.

Nafeez A.

Yelp
From a culinary standpoint, this was the highlight of a week-long holiday in Bavaria/Austria. Unassuming yet dignified. The Wiener Schnitzel was fabulous, but the star of the show, for me, was the pretzel with cheese spread. It was all washed down with excellent Augustiner Weissbier.

Heidi M.

Yelp
Great food! We had sausage plate and beef goulash. We were traveling with 2 teenage sons and they enjoyed there dishes as well. Good beer. Friendly service. Close to everything! There is a huge outdoor seating area that you could miss depending where you enter.

John H.

Yelp
Mediocre food, ambivalent wait staff (they actually argued over who had to take our table). Apparently none of them wanted to have to deal with Americans, or African Americans. Can't wait to get out of Austria.

Sohrab M.

Yelp
It was a little confusing to get a sitting. But once we found a table the service was fast.food came fast.and was good.for sure worth trying. We had salad, it was very good. Then we tried roasted pork, I give it 10. And we tried schnitzel ,I give it 3/10.but exellent service. We will back.

Martin S.

Yelp
First night in the area and a perfect place to go. Bigger groups than 6 may be a challenge to get easy tables. The cheese ball soup was awesome.

Carol W.

Yelp
Garlic soup is warming on a rainy or cool day and the grilled pork steak has a light gravy. If you are more daring try the Hunters Style Game Ragout. The rich braise sauce is full of tender meat, carrots, and local mushrooms. The spinach noodles confused us because they looked like peas, but we cleared most of the plate. Part of eating in the Old Town is watching the tour groups arrive, follow their guide, and smiling for a few photos in your direction. We will definitely brings friends back for an authentic local meal.

Miguel F.

Yelp
Was there with my girlfriend. We ordered Kässpätzle and Wiener Schnitzel. Instead of the Kräuterkartoffel, I asked for fries. Still not understandable to me is, why they charged me additional 0.50€ for something they were doing anyway for others in the restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant was not able to bring both dishes at the same time. The Spätzle were o.k., the Schnitzel smaller as used for Vienna. Generally spoken, I would say that this is the typical place where all the tourists go. Wish you all better experiences.

Mark B.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Very accommodating as we had a wheelchair and they were very packed. The food mostly composed of potatoes...but there were enough other choices to satisfy.

Greg K.

Yelp
A lot of fun! Food isn't subtle, but works incredibly well. This is the sort of place where you will drink too much and eat too much, but don't delude yourself, you consented to it all, and will stumble back to bed with a dreamy smile on your face. :o) As usual, learn a few words in German, if only to say hello, and someone will guide you through this cavernous old place to a table somewhere at the back (don't forget bread crumbs for your way back). A good sign even before you order: even the students sharing your table can't be bothered with sodas and are on beer or white wine. Solid, comfy seats, and heavy wood and stone everywhere give it a fantastic atmosphere that's fuelled by conversations - it manages to be lively without being too noisy, interestingly. We entrusted our lives to the matron-like waitress, and weren't disappointed: my own starter was supposed to be a board of assorted local delicacies (you know the sort: cheese, hams, pâtés, a few vegetables, etc.), but was enough to be a whole meal. My friend had meatballs and, just for the fun of it, was presented with three enormous portions, each with a different flavour. Trouble started with the main dish: you know you've eaten largely enough already, but that game stew looks so appetizing you have to have a bite - melting chunks of meat prancing about in a rich, lucious berry gravy, you know what I mean? It's much too late to resist, plus the local Veltliner goes so well with it that you have to have another glass. That empty plate can't be mine, it was full just a moment ago! The waitress looked slightly surprised we didn't go for dessert, but moved expertly to the schnapps list - and we have this one, this one and this one, but you really want this one because it's made in the mountains in a small place that does everything by hand. She was right, it was the perfect ending for the evening, but a second one didn't hurt either. After that, you forget it's -15º outside and Innsbruck looks even more welcoming. I'm sorely tempted to go again in the summer, and try the beergarden.

Rhada D.

Yelp
This is a nice place, especially if you're in the city centre. I enjoyed the beer and ambiance/atmosphere of the place very much. The food was surprisingly good for its location. The goulash was great! The sausages were ok (no complaints, but nothing to write home about). The staff was quite friendly and multilingual. Credit cards are accepted!

Heather T.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend (we are both American) for a short trip to Innsbruck along our European road trip and decided to come here after reading the reviews. We came here both nights we were in town because the food was sooo good. For both nights we ate outside since the weather was nice. The first night we ordered the Variety of Dumplings and 6 Grilled Sausages. The dumplings were to die for! Mmmm I can still imagine the texture and taste. The second night, we of course got the dumplings again along with roasted pork and and more sausage and sauerkraut . The food and beer here are just awesome! Of all the cities we visited in Germany, Austria, and Italy, this one was one of my favorites for their food. I hope to come here again next time I'm in Europe.

Frank W.

Yelp
Very touristy and only average traditional Austrian Food. They serve augustiner beer in a nice ambiance.

Robert K.

Yelp
Great bar restaurant combo. I love their selections of beers and the food is good. Sometimes it can be tough to get a table on a busy night, but if you are pleasant with them, you can get a waitress to hold one for you as it turns over.

Karen S.

Yelp
Spent one night in Innsbruck, and this was a great place to spend it. Excellent traditional Austrian food, drink and atmosphere. Kinda has a lodge vibe. Went on a recommendation from hotel staff. Schnitzel was good, red cabbage was amazing. Husband had wild game! Nice staff, helped us with our 11 month-old.
