It is with great sadness that I feel the need to review after a devastating trip up to the Banff Springs hotel yesterday. The most exciting day, the start of winter activities in Banff; The first day of the Hot Chocolate trail in Banff and Lake Louise. The start date eagerly anticipated and counted down in my phone calendar. The list of participating restaurants well and truly scrutinised, with dates and venues planned alongside work commitments in my diary. As a non tea or coffee drinker, you can understand my excitement of the winter months celebrating the only hot drink I can enjoy. A comfort and distraction through recent tough times. My alarm was set extra early so I could come and get my hot chocolate before starting my shift in town. I arrive on the bus just after 8am and skip up the hill, smiling with excitement of the Berry Very Chocolately that your team had come up with this year, similar to the raspberry hot chocolate by Brazen in 2024 or even the velvet cherry at the Maple Leaf in 2023 both of which were wonderful. Hence my curiosity to see the Fairmont's take on this flavour of hot chocolate. The excited anticipation of a half asleep local was swiftly replaced by confusion when I was met with blank stares by the Stock team that morning. They didn't know what I was asking for, and when I explained further, and showed them online, they apologised kindly and informed me they didn't have the ingredients. The team themselves - wonderful. Cannot fault them. Management - come on. Seriously? The oldest, signature, most expensive hotel in Banff, currently only at 60% capacity.. not able to have the right ingredients, for an annual event which everyone SHOULD be aware of well in advance of November?! Flabbergasted to say the least. I am still baffled, more than 24hrs since this miserable experience. And disheartened to return soon - not only because the hard earned $10 I'd set aside for this specific hot chocolate was then spent on a regular hot chocolate, which was not the purpose of my visit.

I loved this shop. Plenty of seats in a very cozy lounge setting. Good breakfast options. Also a great place to pick up some last minute souvenirs like maple syrup and chocolates. Would have given 5 stars for all categories if the wait time was shorter. But overall we are glad that we decided to come for a bite before driving back to Edmonton.

I am a massive coffee lover and heard from a friend of mine that STOCK is open 24/7, This made me very happy. I was there around 10/11am on Wednesday 17 Dec 2025. Beautiful place. The food was great and prepared well. The 2 member working the coffee area were overwhelmed and i asked if they have asked for help or needed any help, I was shocked with the answer I got from the staff member. "Steven my manager, never helps us as he is always in the office". Did expect better from a manager to support their team mates, I felt so sorry for them, It left a bitter taste in my mouth when I walked away. The team members really tried their best and the lineup was alright. Hope my next visit soon will be better

The place is located inside Fairmont Springs Banff. It's a great spot for a quick bite. It has plenty of options. The service is pretty fast and the staff is friendly. I had ordered a chicken Caesar sandwich and it was very fulfilling as a lunch for me. Would definitely recommend. You can order online to skip the line

I ordered a lavender honey latte and was patiently waiting at one of the window seats. I noticed one of the baristas make a hot drink and set it at the drink stand. She took the drink ticket and placed it on the metal stick where the finished drink tickets go. She then continued to talk to her coworker. No name was called out and I waited a few minutes until I had to go up myself and look at the drink ticket pile to see if it was my drink. I found this odd because prior drinks the barista would call out the persons name.. other than that the lavender honey latte was good

A little hit or miss but the hits were really great! We thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom soup - incredibly rich and aromatic and maybe the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had. Another favorite was the caprese which just tasted really fresh and the baguette was so lovely - crisp on the outside and so soft inside. Coffee was also pretty good!

Unfortunately, the cappuccino was very disappointing—we saw the great pictures and expected more. The quality should be consistent.

I am a celliac and usually I can't eat pastries in a café. Stock has amazing gf options. Their muffins aren't dry and are really tasty. Atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. Great to read or have a conversation. Staff is super polie like in every Fairmont.

Had their breakfast sandwich and also tried the ham and cheese croissant. Both were very good. Great coffee. Only downside is that it tended to be a bit slow.

The pastries are delicious and the tea is yummy- everything is a bit overpriced as you would expect in a hotel. I did like the options of juices and kombucha, the food options sell out pretty quickly so I didn't get to try much. They do have soggy biscuits as well!!

It was well stocked. ;) It's nice to have a healthy and delicious takeaway option, albeit at Fairmont prices. When we checked into the hotel, they decided to offer us free breakfast and parking - amazing! One morning my daughter wanted to lie in, so Stock allowed us to takeaway her breakfast for free, while my husband and I had the breakfast buffet elsewhere. They do have a recipe book available and strive to help with food requirements. Much appreciated.

Nice little store for quick bite. My only complaint is we'd been going there regularly for the week and then my brothers wife saw the server in the bathroom and the server didn't wash her hands after using the toilet - ack! Nobody in our party went back after that incident

Super convenient 24/7 grab and go market. The food consists of sandwich, pastries, snacks and soup. Various drink options! The staff is super friendly and the ambience depends on how busy the hotel gets with guests. I enjoyed the chicken panini and potato leek soup, perfect for the cold weather.

Stopped at STOCK Food & Drink located on the first floor of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel one morning for a coffee and quick bite to eat before a day of adventure. I ordered a pricey breakfast sandwich and latte...both were pretty good. The breakfast sandwich came with a fried egg which ended up being a bit messier than I would have liked due to the runny yolk! The sandwich also had delicious bacon and aioli, served on a brioche bun. My order did take a bit to prepare but, nonetheless, STOCK is a great option for a grab and go breakfast or lunch.

I loved STOCK food & drink. After a friend suggested eating at Fairmont for brunch I gave it a try. Such a great restaurant inside the Fairmont Banff Springs. Their sandwiches were delicious and dessert even more so. Also, they have a selection of quality hot drinks. Service was friendly and amazing. Moreover, they serve alcoholic beverages. I purchased a bottle of Rundle Gin on my way out as a souvenir. Fairmont Banff Springs partnered up with Wild Life Distillery to create this unique bottle and the colour of of the drink is purple when held to the light. After brunch you can even go for a stroll through one of Canada's earliest grand railway hotels. The original open date was 1888 which you will see lots of paintings on the wall that represent the year. You definitely have to visit Fairmont Banff Springs ! It's a great way to add to your itinerary.

Great spot to stop in for a quick coffee and sandwich. I had the pastrami and a bowl of tomato soup. Both items came out hot and were delicious. Service was fast and very helpful. The cafe has a number of small tables so don't plan on going with a large group. It is more of a cafe style place, not so much a sit down restaurant. They also have alcoholic drinks if you are in the mood.

I ordered soup of the day, avocado toast, and coffee latte. All these were delicious. I didn't expect the food in the restaurant lobby was this good.

Absolutely stunning STUNNING mushroom soup ! Great Vegan lunch sandwich. There are two on their feature menu. I love the beet/roasted squash/ arugula and walnut spread one (the sourdough one). Everything is made fresh to order. Their mushroom breakfast sandwich was also superb. It's so great that the cafe has these options, as the fairmont room service only has the kids Mac and cheese as a veggie option with no vegan option to speak of. Mentioning this as it's in same building as fairmont Banff and vegans staying there should note the cafe is a GREAT OPTION! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!! No pictures as I devoured everything too quickly :P

Hubby and I were looking for someplace to have lunch after checking in at the Fairmont and came across Stock. It is a small restaurant that offers limited options for breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and soup for lunch, limited dinner bowl choices, and crudités and dip late night options. They also offer beautiful desserts, coffee, and some alcoholic beverages. The seating area is cozy. There are some oversized wall games such as tic tac toe and scrabble. We ordered a Korean fried chicken sandwich and vegetable grain soup. The soup was tasty but not served hot enough temperature-wise for my liking. The Korean chicken sandwich had a mild spicy sauce and some lettuce and radish. The chicken was not overly greasy and made fresh upon order. Stock grows their own micro greens and herbs, which are used to garnish their food. They also feature local products such as teas, snacks and chocolates, as well as grow your own herb and seed kIts. Stock is one of the more reasonably priced places at the Fairmont to grab a quick drink or bite to eat. I would have loved to try their coffee and their avocado toast! Alas this may have to wait until my next visit to Banff.

Located next to the lobby of the Fairmont Banff Springs, Stock Food & Drink offers quality food in a casual dining environment. It's a sharp contrast from the upscale restaurants located in the hotel, but a nice break. Not only do they provide coffee and espresso, they also have a variety of desserts, sandwiches, and salads to order. I'd honestly be willing to come here just to try the desserts they have - their raspberry pistachio cake was one of the best cakes I've had! Probably my favorite from the ones I tried. So moist with a creamy texture from the pistachio and raspberry ganache. It had just the right amount of sweetness too, and it didn't distract from the flavors of the pistachio and raspberry. I never really think of pistachios and berries... but this was a great combination. My folks also had the berry creme brulee tart and the pistachio cherry tart. Both were good, albeit a little difficult to break into with a fork. The creme brulee tart actually has a nice caramel flavor on the top, and the whipped cream goes perfectly with the berries. The pistachio cherry tart was more like a dark chocolate brownie filled with the pistachios and cherries, but it was good nonetheless. Still, the raspberry pistachio cake left a lasting impression. After 5 pm they offer a "weekly feature" - basically the dinner special of the week, served after 5 pm. The week I went it was a coconut shrimp curry set for $18 CAD. It included a side of steamed broccolini, a bowl of rice, grilled naan, and some picked vegetables. IT WAS INCREDIBLY GOOD! I've gone to a variety of places to have coconut curry... but this was definitely up there in terms of flavor. The curry itself had great spices and a really addicting kick. It was also savory, so you craved more of it. I definitely wiped the bowl clean with grilled naan (the naan was tasty on its own). To my surprise, the curry came with 5 pieces of shrimp, which I thought was generous for the small bowl of curry. The broccoli and pickled vegetables provided some nice contrast to the tasty curry and actually went really well. This was definitely a meal set worth the quality of a hotel like the Fairmont. and I did not at all feel ripped off paying $18 CAD for the quality. The cafe itself offers an inviting space. The seating area is very open and modern - wooden tables and benches with the utensils and napkins already available. The high tables have their own study lamp and there's even a wall of mini greenhouse cubes. As far as drinks go... their espresso is just "OK" - better than Starbucks, but certainly not the same quality as those coffee shops you'd find in Downtown Banff. For a cafe, it's pricey - avocado toast is $11 CADand my slices of cake were $6.50 CAD. Still, it's amazing how you can get quality food in such a low-key atmosphere, hence the high stars.

Good food, but my gosh is it expensive. At least at the rest of the places in the hotel, there's great ambience and chef inspired creative dishes. Makes the prices justified. But Stock charges $3.50 for an apple. Please.

We are staying at the Fairmont, there's only one option for lunch, the Stock is a great alternative. Freshly made food. Good service and you can grab to go and eat at the mezzanine 2 with a fantastic view.

Didn't want to go far for breakfast so decided to give this place a try for quick breakfast. Huge portion! We got the avocado toast with egg, lots of avocado and perfectly cooked egg- huge, thick fresh bread/toast! I actually never seen a toast this thick and still very yummy! The mushroom toast definitely has more flavor than the avocado, still very very delicious! Latte tastes strong but still good. 3 items were about $40, highly recommend.

Wanted to come visit the Fairmont in Banff to see what the hype was all about and set to have breakfast here as well. If you aren't staying here, parking is $10 bucks an hour in their garage FYI. It's more of a cafe with seating to the side and the food is actually pretty good. You can tell they make their goods from scratch and it's not as crazy priced as you'd expect here. It's not cheap either but as long as the food is good, that's usually what matters most. Decision making based on food is how I roll! We ordered the Back Bacon (essentially ham) and Fried Egg sandwiches w/ cheese, Homemade Focaccia, Fruit Salad and Tea/Coffee. Came out somewhere around $50 CAD so not too crazy. Def worth coming to eat at since there aren't too many breakfast places in Banff and you get to see some nice architecture at the same time.

Stock Food & Drink is a super casual cafe type of place to grab a snack, drink or meal... It's located in the lobby of the Fairmont Banff Springs, and offers a wide selection no matter what time of day you stop by or what you're craving may be. I stopped in for lunch recently and ordered the quiche of the day with a side Mediterranean Salad. Both were delicious and I ate every last bite. The ingredients appear to be high quality. Service is friendly and fast... I took my food to my room but noticed plenty of seating options. I may have to return again for a delicious looking pastry, coffee, or juice before I leave Banff. Enjoy!

YUM. my husband and i come to the Fairmont every year and are really impressed with how delicious the breakfast at Stock is. We've tried almost everything and haven't had a bad meal yet. The Tagine is super flavorful and a big shareable portion, the back bacon sandwich is also very tasty and the mushroom toast hits the spot! And the desserts and pastries? Absolutely divine! The coffee drinks are also pretty tasty. So tasty we buy a bag of their coffee beans just to try and recreate them at home. We also really adore the style of the place. There are cute and reasonably priced gifts and a revolving display of local treats available.

This place is amazing and so far has been our go to for breakfast and lunch. They have a wide selection of generous size sandwiches - smoked montreal meats, chickpea curry, trio of dips, bread + butter spread, etc and a good variety of solid breakfast food - steel cut oats, tagine, avocado toast, BLTs, yogurt parfaits, granola, homemade scones, etc. They also have a good variety of coffee drinks. I'm addicted to their London Fog tea, so, so good. Service is friendly and helpful too as you may need help in deciding. pictures coming soon

Recently we spent three days at a conference at the beautiful Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful. It's befitting of its moniker "The Castle in the Rockies" - a truly splendid place to spend time. However, the conference was jam-packed with sessions and we had little time to take in any of the high-end dining options located in the hotel. However, we did frequent Stock, this informal eatery is located at the left-hand side of the lobby as you enter the hotel, and it's by far and away the best option at the hotel for convenience and price point. Food: Available dishes (there are separate options for breakfast and lunch/dinner) are listed on a price board behind the order station, and samples of dishes are tastefully displayed in a a glass case adjacent to the order station. Breakfast offerings included: oatmeal with walnuts and honey; lamb tagine with fried egg; soft boiled eggs with in-house baked bread; and outstanding breakfast sandwiches. Lunch/dinner offerings included: a variety of imaginative salads; delicious soups; really good sandwiches (vegetarian and meaty options) and more. They also serve really good coffee in a variety of styles, and some of the best, scratch-baked bread we've enjoyed in a good long while. You simply order your food and they bring the dish to your table (they are also well equipped to give you your food as take-out). We enjoyed an outstanding BLT for breakfast one morning. Jam-packed with fresh, crispy lettuce and a flavourful tomato, the highlights were the generous serving of perfectly cooked strip bacon and a truly delicious, toasted multi-grain bread. That same morning we also enjoyed a generous bowl of steel cut oatmeal, perfectly cooked and served with honey, walnuts and fresh, and roasted apple giving it a pie like taste - delicious. Our other breakfast consisted of the Lamb Tagine. This was a sublime serving of lamb sausage in a rich, perfectly seasoned sauce (this was authentic North African taste - no compromise for homogenized tourists' taste buds), roasted tomato, onion and pepper. All that was served with a perfectly cooked, over-easy egg on top and a side of their delicious bread. This protein-rich breakfast was delicious and kept us happily full right through to lunch! And speaking of lunch, we enjoyed a couple of great midday meals at Stock. Day one featured a vegetable curry soup: it boasted a rich and flavourful broth, lots of veggies and more of their amazing bread on the side. This filling soup and a delicious side salad kept us well fed until dinner. Day two was a sandwich day for us. We opted for a Porchetta sandwich and side salad, and a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich and a different side salad. We're huge fans of porchetta, and while this was tasty (it had great crackling) it was a little too fatty for our tastes. In fact some slices in the sandwich were literally just big chunks of pure, roasted fat - just a little too much. The Montreal Smoked Meat took us back (we love Montreal). We love Montreal smoked meat but haven't been in Montreal for too long so we miss it done well. This one came as near to an authentic Montreal smoked sandwich experience as any we've had in western Canada. The meat was rich and perfectly marbled, and was served with a great mustard. The only downside - the pickles served on the side would not pass muster at any deli in Montreal or New York. While reasonably tasty they were - in a word - flaccid. But that's a niggle - this was a great sammie! Atmosphere & staff: Very casual, yet attractively put together. Big shared tables with little tin buckets full of cutlery folded into good quality napkins, chargers easily available. A few more private tables scattered about Mostly a self serve sort of experience. You are expected to remove your dishes after your done, so the next people can seat themselves quickly. Staff does come around to collect, but when turnover is high, people do it themselves.

I was shocked how good the food was here. The pastries are light, buttery and flaky, the cakes are fantastic, and the sandwiches are filling. What really, really surprised me though is the customer service. I ate here 4 times. One time the food was taking a little longer that usual to come out. The manager came to our table and apologized for the delay and offered a pastry to us while we waited. I was stunned at this level of service. Things like this make a huge difference. I made a mistake the first day of getting a sandwich and bowl of soup. I am a hearty eater and was certain I would still be hungry at the end of the meal. I was wrong. I finished the bowl of soup, but the sandwich was deceptively large. I could only finish half, but I took the other half to the room for later. The rest of the meals we would split a sandwich and I would get a bowl of soup. I would leave full. We tried several cakes and pastries and agreed these are really a treat. One of the cakes was gluten and dairy free, I would have never known. it was delicious. I only wish there was a place near me that had desserts and pastries as wonderful as these are !!! If you are not staying at the Fairmont it is worth the walk from downtown to come here, just for the deserts and pastries alone. Walk up the hill from downtown and walk back. Although you won't burn off the calories of the food, it helps justify eating a dessert or pastry.

Bring me back here pronto!! We had lunch here and the sandwiches were so finger licking good I forgot all about etiquette eating in a hotel! The Montreal cured meat and pork belly sandwiches were DELICIOUS. And the relaxing outdoor seating.... ahh.... I almost came here a second time before my flight just to get more sandwiches, but alas had no time. Am salivating until the next time I come here...

Poorly managed kitchen staff. We waited 40 minutes for two breakfast sandwiches... that cost $50. Whoa! Baristas are great! If you want food, do not get it here.

The food is mediocre at the best. I came here because It is conveniently located in the hotel. It was a big mistake. The service is terrible. I waited 20min for a bagel and a panini at the desk. When asked, the explanation is someone else took our order. There was no apology and no sympathy. The attitude is like "why didn't you guard your food". Everyone was apparently unhappy with me. They did use 10min to remake the food for me with a sad face. This is just so annoying to go to a fast food place and ended up waiting 30 minutes with an empty stomach and watch the bad temper service.

Hands down best grab and go breakfast in town. We definitely preferred the food here than the breakfast in the vermillion room restaurant. If you are staying at the fairmont, I highly recommend the mushroom and egg toast, and avocado toast. The pastries are all goodness. Staff are super accommodating if you have picky and eaters and can customize things for kids.

Stayed at the Fairmont and this was a pleasant surprise in the lobby. Delicious lattes. They even made a precious leaf in the foam everyday. Hated to put a lid on my coffee. Staff was nice. Food looked great too.

Ate here twice this year. Once in September and again on this trip in November. Great place to grab a snack or meal. Porcheta Sandwich This sandwich was definitely memorable and tasty because my lady and I had it it back in September and again on this trip. Yummy. Leak & Spinach Quiche I had this for dinner. I love quiche and this one was tasty. What's nice too is that the meals of the day are displayed in the counter so you can see what you are ordering. Service was great too, considering you order from the counter and it's more of a quick restaurant kind of place. The cashier who we ordered from was helpful with explaining their menu and food. When we were seated and got our food, I was taking some pics of my good and one of the staff saw what I was doing and recommended tables that had good lighting. Very observant and nice of her for the suggestion, but I just wanted to get into that porcheta sandwich and quiche. Maybe next time.

I'm a sucker for coffee/coffee inspired drinks so I had to stop in after my work conference and check it out. I got a vanilla frappe with almond milk (so happy they had non dairy options because a lot of places don't... they also had soy milk and oat milk available)! The frappe only comes in the larger size (which is fine because it was so good, but if it came in the smaller size I would have gotten that). The drink was pretty pricey, but I didn't expect it to be cheap being that it is a convenient location inside the hotel (right next to the lobby) and it's a vacation destination. The drink was very good and I would like to go back again to try more! Their pastries looked really good (mmm macaroons) and also had some sandwich/food options too! The decor was super cute (they do have a pretty large seating area) and the staff were so nice and friendly!

My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont, and ate at Stock one morning on our way out for a hike. I had the avocado toast, and haven't stopped thinking about it since. So much that it is December and I had the avocado toast in July, and still feel the need to pause what I'm doing and write a review. We ended up eating at Stock for the avocado toast every morning, and my husband who had ordered something different, switched to TWO avocado toasts every morning (they're huge by the way and could easily be split). Every time I eat an avocado toast and from here on out, I am ruined. Don't forget the egg on top. 10/10 recommend. That is all.

This rating is for the coffee. I had a 12 oz double shot caramel macchiato...amazing. Hubs had the cold brew, and was very pleased.

Great coffee and great avocado toast. One of the few places at the Fairmont Banff Springs where it's pretty easy for someone who is vegan to eat some food.

My family and I were staying at the Chateau and looking for a relatively cheap place to eat. This place was great! The food was amazing; I got the Baby Greens salad, and I am not usually a salad eater. My mom and dad got some Spinach dip with pita bread and it was spectacular; If you go I highly recommend it! The desserts looked delicious, but I was too full to eat any. My mom had a Citrus dessert though and said she loved it.

At an event Friday for the Yelp winter break, I had the chance to try some of the amazing offerings stock has and I am so happy I was able to! They had 3 types of sandwiches (the vegetarian mushroom sandwich was my favourite) amazing salads and hot chocolate with house made marshmallows. The chef describing the dishes was so passionate and the fact that whenever they can, they make everything locally in house like their pickles and different cured meats. In the actual restaurant they make amazing coffees, and grow micro greens right where you can see them which is a cool add in! Definitely worth popping in if you're exploring the Banff springs!

Fantastic sandwiches. Scones were more of a biscuit to this American, still great. Great coffee, great service. A little pricey, but we expected that at the fairmont. Had a few different sandwiches, and again they were fantastic.

This is one of the best places to go if you are staying in the Fairmont Banff Springs. It is easily accessible and the food and service is top notch. We went here probably 7 maybe 8 times in our 5 days. I'm going to stop rambling now and just say this a definite must if you are in the Fairmont Banff Springs.

They sold me food that they didn't have. They then couldn't refund my credit card. They wrote my credit card down on a piece of paper (not great security) and said it should be refunded in a few days. I had no other option. I am sure this isn't right. It's 2018 Banff Springs Hotel

By far the best cafe I have eaten at. The service was great and the staff was helpful! I wish I lived in Canada, so I can eat here every day!

Completely surprised by how good a lobby cafe stop could be. Breakfast sandwiches and pastries excellent. Lunch sandwiches amazing and we had them pack it up for the road. Extremely sweet servers. Love that they grow their own greens for the sandwiches. Very earth conscious.

Loud, not enough small tables and no window seats if the weather is not good enough to sit outside. Food is okay but nothing special. Beware the hotel guest parking - very expensive and there's free parking on the street leading up to it. Not too bad if it's convenient for you, but not worth a special trip.
