We were really looking forward to our visit to stock for my birthday, however we had a really disappointing experience and would not be happy to return.
Both myself and my husband went for the set Christmas menu at £52 pp - happy to pay initially as we anticipated good food however it was not worth the price at all. More than happy to pay above average prices if the food matches.
My husband had the Parmesan arancini to start which was very bland and tasteless.
We both ordered the monkfish with prawn bisque, roasted fennel, tomato and basil. However roasted monkfish with a Thai style coconut broth arrived and Asian greens - this was on the al la carte menu and not what we ordered. There was also prawns within the broth which tasted barely cooked, being pregnant this was very concerning, after bringing this up with the waiter she informed us they had been poached, they weren’t edible.
We also brought the issue of the wrong monkfish dish to which the waitress said the tomato and basil was a garnish on our dish - there was none on our dish. The monkfish came with a side of mash and roast potatoes, the mash wasn’t warm.
I ordered the baked cheesecake for dessert, however when it arrived it was a standard cheesecake, I again brought this up with the waitress who said it was baked to set it or else it would be runny. Shouldn’t be advertised as a baked cheesecake. Wouldn’t have ordered if I knew this.
There’s was only a 3 tables including ours (later a larger table came in) so no excuse for the poor quality. There was an issue with every dish, food average and quite bland, not what we expected. We didn’t receive any apology from the staff. Would not recommend/return.
