A super nice market! It has both food stalls where you can buy some meal, as well as vegetables and fruit and meat stalls. There was a stall with venison meat as well as stands with more classic meat products. They also had a stall with nice Italian products like cheese and tiramisu. There were stalls with desserts as well as some craftsmanship products as well. The market is not too huge but super nice to pop by!

If yer oot an’ aboot on a Sunday, it’s worth a wee visit. The market’s no’ that big, but a few o’ the food stalls are pure busy. Ye might need tae queue a bit at mealtimes, but it’s dead worth it—tasty, cheap, and plenty on yer plate!

Google
Amazing and small street market. I went in Sunday so I don’t know if the fair exists in another days. Good food and ok prices.

Google
It is a local marked, every Sunday. You can attend there after visiting Dean village. Prices are not as low as you will expect. However, it is a god experience. There is a one shop for traditional Spanish food.

Not a tourist place, recommended by locals. Works on Sundays. Lots of produce from farmers and delicious food. Products are somewhat more expensive than in stores. Wild fish and other things. It is possible to have seafood paella for 11 pounds and chicken for 8. The queue can be long. But you should visit.

Great market. Well balanced. Crowded. Food lines can get a bit long, so bring your patience!

Google
Wonderful trip to the small Sunday market. The atmosphere was lovely as was the smells coming from the various stalls. Great to see small businesses selling their goods, would definitely recommend a visit. It can be incorporated with a walk along the river to Dean village too 👍

Amazing spot in Stockbridge 🫶 truly recommendable if you want to have authentic paella and amazing stuffed cookies

Yelp
We came here on a recent trip to Edinburgh while exploring the city outside the Royal Mile. Everything was good, but the place was smaller than I expected and felt a bit packed. Despite that we got bread, paella, cheese, raspberries, pears, apples, lettuce, cucumbers, and jam for the rest of our trip in Scotland and it was all fantastic. The paella we ate there. I got the chicken paella because I didn't think picking apart seafood with my hands was the best idea while wrangling two small kids without a reasonable place to sit down. It was really good, if a tiny bit saltier than I'd like. The spices were top notch and the experience of seeing it made in the huge 6' in diameter wok-like pans was worth it. The bread (we got spelt) was _really_ good and I wish we'd gotten two loaves. Instead, we got only one and just relished the breakfast sandwiches we made with it the next few days. The cheese, jam and produce formed the basis of a lot of what we ate for the next few days and it was much better than what we'd been getting at Tesco.

Yelp
A cute farmer's market held every Sunday year-round in the most pretty neighborhood. It's a nice stroll around the streets or to Dean's Village while grabbing some local goods. I have to admit that the space was smaller than I expected, but they do have a bit of everything from jams, fresh produce, meats, baked goods, chocolate, alcohol, coffee, and more! I definitely recommend coming here hungry, so you can try one of the food stands. I ended up trying the Chicken Paella (£5), which you can't miss. I was immediately attracted to the plate as I saw people walking around with them. For £5, the plate is huge and will easily fill you up. Unfortunately, the flavor and taste was only okay. It may be best to share, so it's not so overwhelming. It's not bad, but definitely not one of the better paellas I have had. My friend did get the dumplings, which are pretty popular as well though. Either way, cool little spot to grab a bite and walk around. It does get pretty crowded though.

Yelp
I always take guests who are visiting for the weekend to the Stockbridge market. It's quirky and cute with some nice eats. Not too big and not too small. You are always bound to find some sort of Perthshire jam, obscure cuts of meat and fish, as well as pies and flat whites! At my last visit, my sister and I came across 'Scoff' - Scottish street food. They make a wrap made out of potato scone filled with haggis and black pudding. Mega tasty. A go-to stall to visit is the marshmallow lady. She always has samples and I'm sure you'll find something you like. (My fav is millionaires shortcake). Tip: go to the market for coffee and a snack and then walk to the gallery of modern art via the water of leith!

Yelp
This is an excellent market and one of my favourite places to hang out on a Sunday in Edinburgh. The selection of food is phenomenal- everything from pies to noodles to curries to cupcakes. Honestly, don't bother eating before coming here, as you will find plenty to satisfy your tastes! The coffee truck, the name of which I forget, serves excellent brew, and if you want a different kind of brew, there is usually a craft beer on offer somewhere in the market as well. Unfortunately, Stockbridge Market has become the cool thing to do in the city, and now it tends to be absolutely packed every weekend. This is of course excellent news for the businesses operating here, but perhaps not so good if you want a quiet and leisurely Sunday browse! Overall, definitely recommended. High quality produce, lovely people, and a great atmosphere.

Yelp
There are plenty of Sunday afternoons when I have a desire to get out the house and I often end up here. If you've been to other Edinburgh farmers markets you probably know the score. Some reasons why I like coming here: - Harajuku Kitchen. Possibly the best gyoza dumplings ever? They are up there. You should have some. Even if you have already had lunch. The queues can be big but it's worth it. The other eateries are also good though. - Gourmet foodie stuff. There is an assortment of pickles, sauces, oils and the like. It's a great idea for a gift for a foodie friend. Or just inspiration next time you want to jazz up cheese on toast. - Fresh produce. Great when you want to make something decent for dinner. Meat, fish, cheese, bread, veg. I've found some more unusual things in the past too such as wild garlic leaves (which makes a decent pasta sauce). - Drinks. They is usually someone selling Gin/Whisky/Local Beer. On more than one occasion I have gone for a sample and walked away with a bottle. - Steampunk coffee. I love Steampunk in North Berwick and always make a point of visiting, so it's always a bonus when they come through to Stockbridge. It can get busy and waiting 10 minutes for a flat white that I will drink in 1 is a bit excessive. But on the other hand they do serve it in a awesome campervan! Even if I don't end up buying anything I do enjoy the bustle of the market and there is always a bit of a buzz.

Yelp
Stockbridge Market is a pretty great way to start your Sunday morning and they've managed to fit in an impressive range of businesses. We arrived right on 10am and the market wasn't really open yet as people were still setting up their stalls. We decided to go to nearby Peter's Yard for a scone and a seat while we waited. We came back around 10.30 and it was properly open so we took a wander around. There's a good range here - tonnes of stalls and selection so it's best to do a lap first and then make your purchases. We ended up buying some fish, bread as well as some sausage rolls for lunch. There's also meat, vegetables, cheese, coffee, dumplings, jewellery, crafts etc available, so pretty much something for everyone. It's a really nice market with a good vibe and range. Only downside is how busy it gets so it can be a bit of a crush navigating your way through!

Ashley M.

Yelp
Nice variety of delicious food along with plenty of non-food items to buy. I highly recommend the vegetable gyoza and udon noodles from the Japanese stand.

Alisa R.

Yelp
I love famers Markets. Theres just something wonderful about buying your produce from the person that grew them. Also there often happens to be some cake and savoury treats made by local people too that draw my attention. This was my first time to the Stockbridge market and If I was a local, this was be my place each Sunday! A mix of produce, cheeses (goats and sheep too), meats, artisan crafts, and delicious treats. A few food veers selling hot dishes, the paella line was super long and by the time I had walked the market twice ( I like to get a good look before committing ), almost all the paella was sold! There was also a Japanese street food, a pho soup stand and a a few dessert stands! We ended up buying some slices of homemade quiche to to away for lunch , along with slice of rubber custard crumble. We warmed our quiches up at home and they were delicious! Lovely pastry and the egg part was backed full of delicious veggies and cheese (goats in mine!) The Chocolate tree also had a stand there that drew my partner in... and a cupcake lady with beautiful cupcakes trapped me. The cupcake I chose was 2.50! At first I was "what Im I buying?!", but once home my mind was put to ease as it was an AMAZING cupcake! Even Cuckoo Cupcakes worthy ( if you haven't been there you should go too). I got the lemon cupcake with raspberry jam inside. She had used real vanilla for the cake and the jam tasted homemade if not one of the expensive french ones . The icing was divine and very lemony but like real lemons not just a flavouring! I hope this cupcake lady opens a shop so I can visit as I'm rarely in Ed on a Sunday. But If I am I will hope to find her here again at the Stockbridge market.

Yelp
I great small market run on Sundays in Stockbridge. I usually love going (not so much at the moment since Edinburgh has supposedly doubled in population and it feels like everyone comes to congregate here in Sundays) but on a regular Sunday, its a great place to stop after a morning brunch or walk through inverleith park. Steam punk coffee is a must have (and the brownies are sooo good!) Depending on what I'm after, I'll usually buy a few bits and pieces to eat during the week, (smoked salmon anf garlic stuffed olives are a must, but maybe not to have together) but you can also go for lunch, I've heard the paella and dumplings are great but I cannot stand the queues! It's a bit of a novelty really, but a great experience nonetheless.

Yelp
Perfect Sunday afternoon activity! Whether you are shopping or just fancy a wee browse on a lazy Sunday afternoon this market is delightful! First stop is the butchers usually with an amazing array of fine organic meats (occasionally including squirrel!) this week they had lots of game birds, pheasant, grouse etc and hare - 'Hare today, gone tomorrow' read the sign - quite partial to a pun... They also have a variety of eggs, hen, duck, Quail etc - and Teal coloured hen eggs which i'm told some buy to co-ordinate with the interior of their kitchen - they are delicious with beautiful bright orange yolks. Stop and have a chat, they are excited and passionate about their produce, interesting and funny - one of my favourite stalls. Hungry? there are loads of stalls selling hot and cold food, tasty. healthy and ready to eat - including a giant paella, noodles, pies and savoury and sweet crepes - yum! - also a few stalls selling cheeses and chutneys with free taster samples. Not all the stalls are there every week which keeps things fresh with a real variety - all top quality and pretty reasonably priced - homemade soap, antiques, vintage clothing, jewellery, fish, painting & prints, baking, crafts, plants, fruit & veg, photography, artisan breads, olives the list goes on! This week I chatted with a lady selling 'air plants' - eye-catching, unusual and extremely low-maintenance plants native to South and central America which have no roots and require no soil so they can be planted virtually anywhere! - terrariums, drift wood, seashells or even upcycled plastic bottles - this is just up my street and I'm definitely getting some, think they'll be great to make great gifts! She also has a stall at Leith Farmer's Market, 4th Saturday of the month. The market is a great meeting and social spot - a little chilly just now but you can always wrap up and grab a hot chocolate or Steampunk coffee served from a VW van with a few tables and chairs where you will be serenaded by a busker of some variety - sometimes there is a man with a gramophone, a fiddler, singers - this week a man with bells around his ankles playing chirpy, folk tunes on a tin whistle or pipe. Looking forward to it getting a little warmer as you can easily spend a whole afternoon there just soaking it all in.

Yelp
I tend to buy very little here when I go, but what I buy I like! The market is enjoyable, if a little cramped, to walk around. As you walk by the stalls you'll see what an absolute mix it is! Starting with the meat stalls, which sell responsibly sourced and sustainable meat which you're less likely to come across in Sainsburys (squirrel anyone?). You then move past soap stalls, spice stalls, cupcakes, local art pieces... everything you could think of. Care is clearly taken to ensure there's a good selection of businesses. The downside here are the prices. It's on the pricey side and so I'm not likely to pop by every weekend. If the sun is shining it's a great place to while away some of your Sunday morning!

Angelo E.

Yelp
I love spending my Sunday afternoons at Stockbridge so I often end up at this market. It's a fairly small market and only happens every Sunday afternoon. The market mostly have stalls selling food... You can buy fresh seafood, meat, eggs, fruits and vegetables, cheese, bread, and various bake goods. There's also a stall that sells hand made marshmallows and chocolates... Both awesome! The marshmallows are a bit pricey but tasty. It comes in many different flavours (the lemon one is awesome) and have good texture. The chocolate stalls also sell hand made products and sell pretty creative type chocolates in dark, milk , and white. There's several stalls that sell cooked food like paella, pot stickers, and sandwiches... All pretty good to munch on. A couple of stalls sell artsy things- photos, paintings as well as creatively made shirts. The downside about this market is it can be pricey, but I suppose it's ok once in awhile won't break the bank.

Yelp
Captivated, delighted, mesmerized, enticed, moonstruck... These are all notions that the thesaurus gave me in place of "charmed". Because at this rate, i'm going to exhaust that word rather quickly in this city. I just moved into the neighbourhood and you WILL find me here every Sunday, shimmying with excitement through the stalls. It's so nice to walk out ones door and return an hour later with a bag stuffed full of great local finds. From baking, to produce, fish and meat - it's a one stop, local shopapalooza. In the cutest way imaginable. The true test of a good market? If you found yourself hosting a last minute dinner party on a Sunday night and had but thirty minutes to get all the fixins' to blow your guests minds - could you do it here? Survey says: yes, and then some. Heck, you could have a snack yourself and a coffee while you're at it - dinner party planning is hard work after all. From starting charcuterie nibbles, to great cuts of steak and a nice, fluffy dessert to finish you off - this place is a dinner party ninja in the making. Pro tip? Get little jars of fresh honey or jam for your guests to take home. It's a scientific fact, that everyone is impressed by artisan jam. Plus, i'm tickled that this is hosted year round. So yet again, i'm bewitched, enraptured, enticed and beguiled by another little gem in Edinburgh. Keep it up city... you'll never get rid of me now.

Yelp
It must be said, the initial draw was down to Steampunk coffee, which I tracked down to a "stall" at Stockbridge Market ... and by stall I mean decked out, super-caffeinated VW Combi! SO, this must be your 1st port of call when you arrive ... Delicious array of edible delights... take cash, and lots of it if you are venturing there on an empty stomach! I am a sucker for small businesses, and will buy 20 venison pies if I like the stall owner! The ultimate consumer! I tend to go a few times a month now, and enjoy it as much with a group of friends as alone - I am a semi-pro people watcher...... I'm not going to give too much away about what's there - it's one of those places that you each get something else out of it ... just keep your afternoon clear!

Claire L.

Yelp
A proper market! Yep, as fab as Stockbridge is, it is even more fabby with a weekly market and since last week, a twice weekly market, which now includes a Thursday. Sunday though is a great market and for those with the munchies then there are plenty of samples to be had. A few staple stalls (meat, fish, veggies) and then others who are there on different weeks. The fab Burgh Bakes appears to be there about twice a month and there are new flavours of marshmallows available too - I loved the Pimms marshmallows. There is a fudge stall - can't remember the name but I am in LOVE with the strawberries and cream fudge with real strawberry pieces in it. The divine Cuckoo's Bakery also have a market presence too. I've still to make it on a day when the German bakers are there who sell GF bread but the butchers do GF pate and proper butchers GF sausages are there to be had too. There is plenty of nonfood traders too. My mum bought a gorgeous scarf for £8 (total bargain as its gorgeous material and simply beautiful) and Brass Cat do gorgeous one off jewellery pieces in silver and semi-precious stones and which are really reasonably priced too. Stockbridge market is well worth a visit - I don't know if I'll ever make a Thursday due to work but for a Sunday afternoon wander, then its my new favourite place :-)

Emma W.

Yelp
It's nice to go occasionally and see what's on offer, especially if you don't live in town or the area. You often do find yourself shimmying through the crowds as it's quite a popular little place and it's only on one day in the week, Sunday. From bread to fish, marshmallows to organic meats, coffee to nice prints by local artists, there's a huge variety of local produce to lick your lips at. You can grab some paella or noodles for lunch from a couple of the stalls or have a piece of tiffin from one of the cake stalls to keep you sweet tooth happy!

Jurgen D.

Yelp
This place has really come on in the last year - from a couple of random stalls beside the Grange they now take up the square opposite the end of Hamilton place. While the Castle Terrace market I would say meets your every day shopping needs Stockbrisge as you might expect sort out your specialist item/upmarket needs. Run on a Thursday evening and on a Sunday they have some fantastic fare. My top picks would be the veal from Peelham farm and the fish/seafood stall from Northumbria. The fish stall is a collection of what comes off their boat the days before - so fresh! they have incredible shellfish including lobster (which starts at £6) and a great selection of fish. For the foodie this is a must visit. JD - thinking of new ways to eat lobster!

Emily H.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to come here for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages and finally made it this past weekend. We were surprised at how small it was, and that it wasn't actually anywhere near the "Stockbridge Market" sign that's up on the website. Despite the size, they manage to cram in quite a few stalls which have very little repetition - a definite plus. However, there were a few aspects that didn't really float my boat. We started out with coffees made in a camper van - cool concept, overly acidic coffee. Primarily we found it a bit sketchy that some of the places didn't display their prices - we bought honey for £5, and asparagus for £4. The asparagus was most shocking, especially as when we got home we noticed the tiny "grown in Mexico" wording stamped on the rubber band. Now, I'll pay (albeit grudgingly) £4 for locally grown asparagus but what the flip is someone doing selling imported veggies at a farmer's type market?! Everyone I've told wondered if it was just Tesco asparagus being resold. Painful. Flip side - we bought some spectacular shortbread and toffee from a really cute stall, and I wanted to get the beeswax based moisturiser in a bar from another one of the stalls but ran out of money after selling my soul to the god of Mexican asparagus. The moisturiser guy was really cool and I would definitely go back to buy his stuff. He also looked like Dustin Hoffman. So... yeah not necessarily something I'm going to go out of my way to visit again. Having said that, I know my experience was coloured by the freezing rain and the great asparagus robbery so maybe I'll give it another go as long as I have another reason to be in that part of town.

Rayan D.

Yelp
This is a great market for a Sunday. Eventhough (as mentioned in other reviews) you wouldn't go here for your daily supply of groceries you can pick up some great local produce. I thoroughly enjoy just strolling through this market on a Sunday afternoon. The buzz, the buskers, the banter and the products are all well worth the experience. We have bought breads, meats and coffee on several occasions. None did disappoint neither wowed. Yes, you pay a little more for the privilege, but it is not surprising for the quality and local source produce on offer. Why only 3 stars? Well it is a small market and not many product being offered are for me.

Logan S.

Yelp
Super cool and super local if you're looking to get away from the tourist traps and get some reasonably priced merchandise & food in an outside setting.

Nicola C.

Yelp
I've found myself in Stockbridge on market day on several occasions. Consequently, I've found myself wandering from stall to stall, losing track of time and rapidly clearing out my purse. Babu Bombay Street Kitchen are here, as are Steampunk Coffee Co. But that's just the beginning. - There's stall after stall with lovely and fresh local produce amongst other goodies. Vinyl's your thing? There's a stall for that. Chutney? Yipp! Healthy, natural baked goods? You betcha! Handcrafted gifts? Oh, yes! The last Sunday I visited it was thriving, and there was a nice social, welcoming buzz. I foresee many, many future pounds spent here when I'm in the vicinity. Its basically like a shopping local foodie lover's dream: alfresco. And I'm down with that.

Tanya L.

Yelp
This is a wonderful, little farmer's market in upscale Stockbridge and the market matches its surroundings. Not far from New Town, Stockbridge feels quaint and distant from the hustle and bustle of the city shopping. The farmer's market is situated next to the picturesque Water of Leith river and consists of 20+ stalls with pretty yellow awnings. The stalls range from high-quality meats and cheeses to beautiful, handmade pottery and cheese-making kits. There are few vegetables from what we saw and it isn't a place I would do regular food shopping, but they have some nice prepared foods and soups for lunch. It is a fun place to stroll and peruse the offerings.

Stuart M.

Yelp
As other reviewers have noted, if you're looking for a 'grocery market' then look somewhere else; this is mainly artisan produce and crafts which makes it a) very Stockbridge and b) a great place to visit every few weeks. From whole pheasants to lemon meringue marshmallows and asian curry; this market has a great roster of stalls which always feel fresh. Most of the producers are rotated meaning you don't get half a dozen stalls selling the same items each week. Only downside in my opinion is the number of dogs and buggies which end up in the very compact space, but apart from that, it's well worth a visit and I'm always happy that it's busy and looks to be doing well.

Pablo D.

Yelp
The Stockbridge Farmer's Market is a Sunday's classic in the area. They've been around since 2011, offering quality food from local and international producers alike as well as crafts. It certainly worth a visit!

Catriona C.

Yelp
The best kinds of markets are those where you roam around like an excited four year old and wanting to spend your month's wages on really cool things that you don't need, will probably go off but you get so carried away with the very idea of the culinary magnificence that you create that you end up going just haywire...phew Panting, you walk away with a carrier bag full of rhubarb, more sage than you have ever used in your lifetime, a cheese making kit, and a head full of ideas without fully connecting up the fact all you can make is some herby cheese stuffed rhubarb with your gains. In fact, the rhubarb and sage will have gone off while you wait for the mozzarella to cure/ferment/whatever you call cheese brewing. Love Stockbridge Market, it makes me giddy with culinary delight.

Sanj M.

Yelp
I stumbled across this market by accident one day whilst out having a wander, and it has become a frequent Sunday stop now when I'm up in Edinburgh. But make sure you know what you're getting in for... It's great to pick up a spot of lunch - they're usually cooking up great vats of paella and curry, and most of the foodie stalls have samples out for light grazing. Emphasis is mainly on locally-sourced, natural and organic produce, and I love how enthusiastic all the vendors are, it's infectious. You'll be well covered for dessert too with plenty of tempting baked goodies and an excellent coffee trailer. There's always an unusual (often pricey) treat or two being flogged too - this visit I spotted prosecco and rosewater flavoured marshmallows! It's also great for treats and presents, from the more arts + crafts stuff to pretty jewellery to organic lotions and potions. Or the aforementioned marshmallows. I splurged on a handmade 'new baby' card for some friends because it had the cutest pop-up baby pandas cut out of card in the middle :) It is probably less good however if you have a specific shopping list and are looking for a substitute grocery, or if you don't have much time, as it gets pretty crowded. For a lazy Sunday stroll though this is a lovely place to go for a browse, mingle with some locals, and spend if you're feeling flush (bring cash!).

Richard C.

Yelp
I'm seriously torn by Stockbridge market because, in and of itself, it's perfectly nice. It has lots of nice fast food stalls staffed by very friendly people, where you can pick up a bite to eat and a coffee and generally pass a pleasant half hour. At the same time, even in comparison to Edinburgh's other markets, it all feels a bit twee. This is definitely not somewhere you'd come to get groceries (even posh ones) - it's more like a slightly self-satisfied food court. If I'm in Stockbridge and hungry when it's on, I'll probably pop in for a tub of the (admittedly lovely) paella, but it's not something I'd go out of my way for.

Mason R.

Yelp
Is there rain or shine Nice little farmers market Sometimes hit or miss

Julia F.

Yelp
If you're looking for a large farmer's market that basically looks as if your local grocer's has spilled onto the street, it'd be best to find another. If you're looking for a small, intimate, market with fresh EVERYTHING where afterwards you can spend a lovely afternoon walking around Stockbridge, come here! I can't remember the name of the stall, but I got wonderfully fresh homemade pasta and sauce, a myriad of fresh veg, and of course a tasty treat for after dinner :)

Qype User (ellyce…)

Yelp
Fantastic! This Sunday market is not quite as large as the Castle Terrace market but it has everything you need! It has game, seafood, veggies, cured meat, cheese, smoked products, olives. In addition to all that, about half the stalls belong to craftsmen/artisans who do jewellery, leather goods, etc.

Candace B.

Yelp
Every week there is something different, and then the usual stalls I look forward to: the huge woks of simmering food, the vegetable and fruit merchants, the cheesemonger, the fish guy, that couple selling poultry, and the bakery. There is also the steampunk coffee, that takes ten minutes to get, but also the communal excitement and haughty reserve of all those waiting. Today I bought 6 fortune cookies for £6. No, I didn't know how much they were since it was not displayed. But they are hilarious- mixed flavors with mixed fortunes, some of which are quite ominous. The packaging is gorgeous, and it will make a nice gift at the next dinner party, so whatever. You can also order hem online with custom fortunes, I can only guess what that costs, but being mercenary is not so fun, so moving on. There are tons of dogs and cute people, and the ever present hipsters standing in the cool Scottish morning, literally just standing around, no coffee or cotton bags with farmer market goodies. Their attractive bearded faces judging what everyone else is doing. This is in my hood, so I will keep coming, esp when I can see the marshmallow stall is there.

Dominika J.

Yelp
I visit Stockbridge Market at least two times a month. I think I am addicted to it! You can find delicious local produce, try great pasta or curry, buy soap loaf, amazing chocolate and much much more. My bag is always full of beautiful olives, olive oil, sourdough bread, venison chorizo and French cheese. If you think you know how cheese taste, try Comte and Beaufort, you may surprise yourself. And all that is in a picturesque location of an old village. This market is a great alternative to supermarkets and make shopping much more enjoyable.

F.S S.

Yelp
Amazing. Tons of crafts, amazing treats to go, organic produce and a packet house filled with goodness. Not to sort out your everyday needs but a wonderful range of uniqueness.

Robyn Z.

Yelp
hmm maybe this review is a bit biased as everyone else seems to rave about the Stockbridge Market. however, on my quick visit early this afternoon i was left rather underwhelmed. there were very few vendors there and a number of the products on offer seemed rather highly priced. £13 for a chicken!!! now i'm all one for free range and buying straight from the producer, but i could hardly afford to live if i was paying that much just to get some meat in my diet. i was charmed by the women at the marshmallow lady stand though. i spoke to the owner's mother who was lovely and very eager to give us a free sample of the products on offer. i did cave and buy two bags of marshmallows to bring into work for my co-workers, but i hardly found anything else worth buying or that i felt i could afford in my budget. maybe it was the time of year and if i went again when the weather got better i'd find loads on offer and at better prices. so i'm not ruling this place out, but it will be awhile til i will find myself wanting to visit again.

Yelp
This is a wee market, but the options available are fantastic. I make a mission of going to Stockbridge every couple of weeks to escape the student crowd, take a walk, and buy some good food. If I have time, I also walk along the river to the modern art museum after feasting. Let's take a look at some of the regular stalls: -Cuckoos cupcake-well known to be the best cupcakes in town, this company is fantastic because the staff are lovely, the baking is very creative, and the cupcakes are absolutely stunning. I have only tried the white chocolate raspberry flavour, which was really delicious and the ratio of buttercream to sponge (which was very light, by the way) was perfect. They also offer a gluten free carrot cake, which I am yet to try, as it keeps selling out really quickly. -Ziggy's raw food-raw puddings, salads, pizza, dips, did I mention it was raw? Try the raw cheesecake, it's delicious and very nutritious. -The olive store (not sure what it's called)-lovely olives and marinated vegetables which you can; unfortunately the price for actually buying is quite extortionate, though it's nice to have this as an option. -Au gourmand Edinburgh-fresh French bread, croissants, pains au raisin, and other exciting pastries which you may miss from your holidays. -cheese man-the famous cheese man who parks up in the meadows every Saturday now hits Stockbridge on Sundays. He imports some really delicious/smelly cheese from France, including some delicious goats cheeses. He also offers French pastries and macaroons, which are amongst the best in Edinburgh. Japanese stall-again, not sure of the name, sorry, but this stall offers delicious sushi (I tried the vegetarian one), miso soup and freshly prepared wok fried noodles. Artisan coffee-there is often an artisan stall, complete with a marque and a Volkswagen campervan parked up. Enjoy quality coffee, good cake, and take the beans home if you fancy. There's also an interesting looking Indian stall which I am yet to try, quite a few dairy and meat options and a few crafts. I would recommend using this as a base to explore Stockbridge! There are many other exciting shops/bars in this very cool area, besides a good range of well-stocked charity shops.
