Probably a 5 stars if you have the money. This store is characterized by high end goods. You can smell the quality and price from far off. Not pretentious. Just right there. In your face. Taunting you if you can't afford the choice. To those who frequent this place, I salute you. You have class, taste and oodles of money. Go on. Spoil yourself. If you can afford it, you certainly deserve it. If you got it, why not flaunt it! I just enjoyed the experience of feeling what's it like to be a billionaire, even momentarily!

I really enjoyed my shopping experience at Stockman’s and it made me sad and nostalgic for The Hudson’s Bay which closed this year at home. I love historic department stores where you could get everything you needed and all the items are of quality or luxury. We were lucky to be there for Black Friday and the sales were quite good. If you want some excellent Finnish woven products go to the home goods section and you find towels and blankets for the sauna.

Stockmann is by far the best department store in Helsinki! Especially Christmas time brings its best sides alive! Festive atmosphere and good premium brands, combined with great service especially at the basement level grocery store. Pretty impressive to be able to buy fresh fish on xmas eve with only 10 mins queue.

Going to Stockmann is much more than just a shopping trip; it’s a full-on ritual in the heart of Helsinki. I love wandering through its floors, from the latest fashion trends to the home decor section, which features that signature, flawless Nordic design. But my absolute favorite part has to be Herkku in the basement; it’s a gourmet paradise where I always end up picking up something delicious. Whether I’m looking for a special gift or just wanting to soak up the atmosphere of this historic building, Stockmann never disappoints. It’s that one place where you know that no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find it with the best quality.

Every year near Chrismas the Stockmann corner display a very beautiful decorations. 2025 is Moomin theme. There's always a big crowd standing there to admire them. It is not the most impressive thing I have seen in Chrismas deco, not even as good as my local hometown decorations. Nevertheless, for people visiting that every year, it has a very special atmosphere and a holiday spirit that you can't find anywhere. It's surprisingly peaceful and festivity. For the shopping mall itself, there's nothing standout compare to other shopping mall :D

If you’re interested in moomins, on the 5th floor is a moomin display with moomin items for sale. And on the 6th floor in the toys section there is another moomin display with moomin toys.

There’s a really old department store in Finland — the grocery supermarket on its basement floor is packed with all sorts of goodies, so many options to pick from! The store’s own outlet is great too, featuring Stockmann’s in-house brand, which is super cost-effective. You can get a tax refund if your single receipt hits over 40 euros.

A truly exclusive shopping experience in Helsinki! I visited the Stockmann Department Store as I was desperately searching for a gift. A lovely saleswoman, Ursula, helped me out in every way possible — it was only thanks to Her that I found the ideal gift — a beautiful Coach bag that was perfect for a gift. This is a fancy, old, classy, expensive department store in the middle of downtown Helsinki. It's like "All the roads lead to Stockman". At the grocery department you can find all kinds of goodies, pastry, fresh meat, fish, specialty products, and international foods. You also have several options to have something to eat either at the restaurant located upstairs, or at the many coffee/snack shops. This is like a huge fancy shopping opportunity for demanding shoppers. You can shop for beautiful handbags, high-end clothing and shoes, or if you favor a certain domestic or international cosmetic brand, they have it. Don't forget souvenirs, toys, home goods and Finnish design items. The customer service department will ship things for you to destinations all over the world and help you with duty free shopping. Among many other notable things is a big Alko store. This is the government monopolized liquor store. So, if you find great delicatessen for lunch or dinner, you will also have the opportunity to purchase alcoholic beverages to go along with your meals. Really, if you want to spend time and money here, it is truly worth the trip, and everlasting experience while in Helsinki. The best thing at Stockman building is electronics store called Power that I just discovered last Summer. They sell variety of appliances, phones and so on. Found a table phone for my mom who needed to replace her old one. She uses it for Skype calls from the USA. Customer service at this place is priceless. The young men helping me during my visits were so knowledgeable, patient and friendly. One nice traditional point about Stockman is, that they have a clock on the Alexanterinkatu side of their many entrances. That is famous among all people living in Helsinki. When meeting friends, we used to say: "Meet me under the Stockman's clock." Happy shopping and maybe I will see you there.

What a nice department store. From the moment you walk in it's wonderful! There are fresh flowers, restaurants galore, coffee places. And then you get to the regular store which has everything you could possibly want and or need. I would equate it to a Nordstroms, or Macys. Nice quality brands and fair pricing. As a fun bonus I definitely recommend going down to bottom floor and you will find a very nice grocery store with all kinds of products. There is also ready to eat goods, hot, cold, fresh breads, pastries. Inside the store is also an outlet section if you're into a bargain! Who doesn't live a clearance section?? It's a fun store to wander around for sure!

This department store truly has a great variety of all the major kinds of clothing, shoes, fragrances, gifts, for all ages. Men's, women's, kids, sporty clothes, fashion, outdoor, etc. I visited this store in 1985 on my first visit to Finland. Sorry no pictures but just imagine your favorite store and this resembles that. Service was available fast, questions answered, etc. they also had a coffee shop and a bakery shop too. Value is a little pricy but quality clothing. I'd visit again.

This is our favorite department store in Helsinki. You can find almost everything here. The kids section is amazing. Some other departments are quite high end. The food store is great but slightly pricey. But in anything, if you need something extraordinary you'll probably find it here! Always great service too.

Helsinki has some beautiful department stores/malls and this one is no exception. We just popped for a quick peek at the atrium since it was located off the main esplanade. Note that this store is very high end- all the fancy brand names you can think off packed under one roof. They also have a handful of cafes and a nail salon located within the building.

Wow ! What a store !! It's a bit confusing it's so big. It's broke into departments. Think of it as a huge fancy Walmart. Great coffee and pastries shop on the main floor with outside seating. Well stocked liquor store. Even a great pet store. Specialty groceries through. The main grocery area is in the basement. You can also buy some clothing, perfume and electronics here too. Great spot to wander around in a rain shower and to grab a snack.

You can tell a lot about a city by its leading department stores. Oh yes, like in Tokyo, you can live in them and never leave like at Isetan and Mitsukoshi where employees politely bow to you all day long (review: http://bit.ly/2o3KKUb). In Paris, you luxuriate in them like at Galeries Lafayette. El Corte Inglés is where you go to meet your swarthy lover for that steamy illicit affair in Barcelona. OK, now I'm making stuff up, but in the good ol' U.S. of A., we appear to go for the bulk items at Sam's Club and Costco or whatever's marked down at Wal-Mart. Bloomingdale's and Macy's? Forget about 'em as they keep shutting down stores. It's all about Amazon, baby. But in Helsinki, it's still all about Stockmann. Why, it's the Harrod's of Helsinki. Gee, like I made that up. When Jamie W. and I traipsed around the center of Helsinki, we couldn't help but notice this is THE store Finns shop at for their higher-end items. Built in 1930, it's historical and cavernous at 540,000 square feet, larger than any store you'd find in Stockholm, Oslo, or Copenhagen (photo: http://bit.ly/2nhKUaf). Truth be told, we didn't spend a lot of time on the upper floors because it was all women's fashion clothing, fragrances, and furniture. Stockmann's to me makes Nordstrom's look like a Target and the grocery store with it's absolutely incredible amazing culinary choices? To me it makes Whole Foods look like a 7-11. The multi-lingual incredibly super friendly and professional staff take customer service to a whole new level. A must stop whenever I come to either Helsinki or Turku, Finland.

I have been to many European department stores and have to say that this one impressed me more than any of the others, even KaDeWe in Berlin and La Rinascente in Milan. What sets Stockmann apart from those glossy, something-for-everyone stores is the hands-down best supermarket I have ever seen. It is on one of the basement levels of the store, is huge, has any kind of food one can think of, has wonderful-looking charcuterie, smoked fish, bakery and other sections that Whole Foods in the US can only dream of. Plus it is very modern, sleek and well laid-out. Is the rest of the store nice? Of course it is. The men's clothing and housewares departments are very impressive. But when people ask me about Stockmann, I will talk about the food market.

Flagship of this popular Finnish department store where you can find anything you want withing its 8 floors. A bit more expensive than back home, it has the same type of organisation than the british department store without the glamour.

I remembered Stockmann as an old-fashioned, classic and classy kind of department store (much like NK in Stockholm once was), where the staff wore name nameplates that showed if the spoke Swedish/English too. So to be honest I was quite shocked when I visited again a few months ago, I'm not sure if it was due to the renovating or not but the lack of signage was appalling, it was a labyrinth to find your way to different departments. It completely lacked that classic, classy ambiance I remembered (and no the staff didn't wear those useful nameplates anymore), instead it felt dirty, worn and tired. And the range of products wasn't very interesting and quite limited in places like the stationary department. The only thing I really enjoyed at Stockmann was the interesting selection of unusual teas in the food department.

I think I may have come during the wrong few days to this store. It was absolute sale-time chaos. When I say chaos.... I mean CHAOS! I was dodging crazy old women, people in head-to-toe yellow costumes, megaphone screaming and small crying children. It was a mad house! There was even a small dance team of young girls on one floor doing a full out cheerleader pyramid!!! Some of the sales tactics would have probably been more appropriate at like a bargain basement kinda place. Just look at my photo of all the yellow buckets and balloons! It would have been ok in like a Walmart... but this was supposed to be a fancy store, right? Normally, this store is probably a hot spot if you live in the area to get whatever you need... so the Helsinkian's should probably give it five stars easily. But, being a designer from the land where department stores originated... I have to say that it's just ok. I was expecting a lot more out of the oldest department store in Helsinki! The store was confusingly laid out, the ceilings were low and cramped upstairs and the architecture had no grandeur to it. Lets just say it's no comparison to some of the greats: NK, Harrod's, Barney's, Selfridges, Saks or Bloomingdales! However, for Helsinki... i'm sure it's a great resource! I would give it another star just to be kind, but I got a megaphone scream to the face. You don't forget or forgive that easily... LOL!

Helsinki's have it all department store. Reminds me a little of Bloomingdales or Nordstrom. It's pretty big and you'll find everything from high end clothing and accessories to housewares and appliances. On the lower level is a huge grocery store. Check sales because though shopping here is expensive, you can score a deal on some items. I got a few Iittala glasswares on sale for 10% off which was great. The staff were very helpful as well. Great place to shop if you're visiting Helsinki and recommended.

Very nice large mall. They have everything you can possibly need and more. Visitor's center on 7th floor for 10 percent off pass. Takes one minute to get. Large selection of food on first and 8th floor. Restaurants on 8th. Hair salon on 7th also. Very interesting mall.

I stayed at a hotel right across from Stockmann, and it was amazing. I love this place. I wish America had a one stop shop like this. This place has just about everything that your heart desires. It's 8 levels (technically more) of everything you need to shop for. There is an electronic department, a grocery store, a pet store, tons of restaurants, clothing and accessories, for women, men and children. They have a beauty department, there is a bakery, sushi, and coffee shops. I came here multiple times while visiting Helsinki, it was also one of few places that were open on Good Friday, which was a saving grace because we were able to come here and stalk up on food for dinner and snacks. Since everything was closed or closing early. They weren't open on Easter Sunday, but they were open on Easter Monday. The grocery store doesn't have everything the other normal groceries have, but they also have other things that other stores do not carry. If you are from the US, I would compare this to like a Whole Foods. I didn't do much clothing shopping or accessory shopping as most things are fairly more expensive than in the US. I did take a browse through the Longchamp area and they had an amazing deal on the bags as compared to the US. But there was no one to assist me and I wanted a larger bag than the ones they had out. I wasn't able to get any help there though, and attempted to go to the actual Longchamp boutique down the street but they were closed since it was Easter Monday. So I'm not sure I would rate the shopping a 5 star.... But from the bakery and the grocery store and all the food options I rate this place a 5! Great finds and tons of things to buy. The bakery upstairs and downstairs was great. They have these little pizza things which are amazing and a flat bread rollup thing also amazing. I really enjoyed the macarons as well. The people in the bakery were super nice and helpful. I would definitely come back if I find myself in Finland and I would recommend this be a stop for others who are visiting as well. I'm sure a ton of locals go here as well.

This is a Swedish owned firm that is doing very very well in Helsinki (and beyond) according to local Finns. We figured it would just be another US box store and planned to pass through it quickly on the way to the hotel. Wow! We were in for a surprise. Fun, upbeat, classy, and whimsical. This store had style. They offered just about everything you could want here. Including a supermarket, bakeries, and café's on the bottom level. Like the other reviews indicate, if you're looking to do a bit of shopping, head over to this location. The grocery store on the lower level was especially impressive.

Though it is expensive, it seems fairly well-curated and has good service. And the opening hours are generous, as I experienced over Easter when most every other shop was closed. I wanted to buy some beautiful Iittala tableware (along with pretty much everything else in the kitchen department..) and the cashier was quick to help me figure out how to acheive the special Easter discount AND gave me the tourist discount on top of that. That was so kind of her to help me save money (by buying more, I know!). I didn't even know there was such a thing as a tourist discount. The market downstairs has a huge variety of products and is definitely worth checking out. And of course right next to it is an Alko for your drinking needs, although it would be wise to check their hours before going. Alko doesn't have the same opening hours as Stockmann.

As a parent to a toddler, I say yay to Stockmann! Reminds me of a Bloomingdales or Nordstrom if you attach a grocery store, deli, and bakery to them. The bakery section had pastries for a picky eater and even a quiche that my son ate. Prices are cheaper than what you can find in the cafes around the area. The 6th floor has a Hamley's toy store with some demo toys for kids to play with. But best of all, behind the toy store is a nursing, feeding room complete with high chairs, a sink, microwave, napkins, and changing area. Adjacent to the feeding room is a toy room with toys spread across the floor. Just take off your socks at the door and have your kid burn some energy!

Is there another dept store in Helsinki? Since I no longer recognize Sokos as an entity (long story...), methinks not. "If you can't get it at Stockmann, you probably can't buy it in Helsinki" is damn right. I've stopped even bothering with shops for most items. This place is a giant shit show if you have a stroller, though. What the hell is level -1A? I'll tell you what it is. It's the floor I always need to get to but end up spending half an hour finding the one freaking elevator that goes down there. It's where the chocolates, medicines, and entrance to the outlet are. What!?!? Put those on the first floor and cheap obese 'Mericans would be all over it. Good for you, Stockmann, for keeping it classy. Fantastic children's department and home department, excellent in-house brands and the Crazy Days sales? Well color me red, white, and blue! I feel just about like I'm back in the states at a TJ Maxx or Century 21. Seriously though: there's a gym, a pharmacy, the biggest bookstore in the city, a salon, the biggest gourmet grocery store in town, an alcohol shop, and the biggest selection of anything in the entire country all under one (or 3) roofs. There is also an outlet. But that's a different review. Also super child-friendly: a children's play area, nursing/infant room, children's toilets and restroom and changing room, microwave and baby food prep area. It's fantastic. Go there. Don't even bother with anyplace else. Especially Sokos. Just...no. No to Sokos.

Better clear an afternoon (and an early evening for that matter) if you're planning a trip to Stockmann's. This department store juggernaut boasts multiple levels of sheer shopping goodness. It covers all ground: mens, womens, cosmetics, housewares, and then some. What really sets Stockmann's apart from, say, an American department store, is that it's a good mix of high end and lower end goods with a high volume variety of each. American department stores tend to be very one-sided, where you can find either cheaper goods or high end brands. Not the case for Stockmann's: I was in the ladies' section- I came across some Acne jeans (all on sale!), Tommy Hilfiger dresses and Tiger of Sweden tops. I also spied a Vero Moda mini shop too. Truly a department store for everyone!

The department store itself is really uninteresting. The brands are nothing to mention - and not even the home department is really showcasing Finnish design at all. Such a shame. Instead go down to the basement where you'll find a lovely supermarket with all things fresh and unique. The food department is really, really good - both with Finnish and international delicacies. From elk meat to salmon, from Italian olive oil to vegetarian tofu dishes - they have a lot.

If you're in Helsinki and only have time to visit one shop, this is probably your best bet. Great selection of products from all the characteristically Finnish companies such as Marimekko, Artek, iittala, Moomin, Arabia, Fiskars and Kauniste, as well as other Nordic manufacturers such as Stelton, Georg Jensen and Eva Solo, plus Reisenthel from Germany. Very good housewares and textiles. Good section of sauna products (buckets, ladles, sprays, etc.) and phototherapy lights. Excellent men's hats in wool and fur. I found the women's clothing and accessories uninteresting except for Filippa K. Also a very good range of books/stationery/paper/art products, including Staedler from Germany. Very expensive but that's to be expected: it's Finland :)

"The" store to go to in Helsinki. They have everything including a grocery store on the bottom floor. Nice place to walk around and see what people like to eat, purchase, etc. On the first floor, they have this licorice kiosk where they have many different flavors of coating for the licorice balls. For example, chocolate, coffee, berry, spicy, hot, caramel, etc. We didn't like any of them because they were too sweet. We prefer the regular licorice people in Finland like to eat. That's in the basement, with a whole aisle dedicated to different brands from areas in Finland. Prices are good compared to the airport or small shops.

I love Stockmann- much like Harrods or Macy's, but with an eclectic Finnish taste. There are so many things to look at , the grocery in the basement is awesome, I just like coming here and walking the store and looking at all the stuff!

The flagship department store in Helsinki lacks both charm and style and it actually feels a bit sad as it at one time probably was fairly good but that time has long passed and everyone knows it and just accepts and does not try to do anything to stop the decline. These days they still try to carry top quality brands for clothes and have a nice food hall but unfortunately it all feels a bit old and tired. The staff often feel disinterested and bot very eager to help. While they do carry many a bit more expensive brands at least the men's department feels more like place people aged 60+ would go to shop. The store is also most of the time crowded so does not make for a very pleasant shopping experience. I usually prefer going to one of the malls shopping instead (if I really have to shop when in Helsinki). The layout also does not really invite to shopping as it is a lot of stairs, and narrow passages. I can understand that they are in an old building but this does not have any of the nice old charm but rather just feels old and tired.

Definitely worth a trip if you are in Helsinki. The store layout and offerings are similar to (but smaller than) Harrods of Knightbridge in London. Even though most of the items are pricey, you can still find quite a few bargains as well in a variety of departments. Not sure where to go? Ask the info desk - they were super friendly. Something I like about this place are the food offerings, specifically, there is a coffee shop on the 6th (or is it 7th?) floor. They serve a dynamite (but pricey) mocha. The seating is plentiful and the environment is relaxing - bring a book!

When my friends and I were on a tour bus in Helsinki, the audio recording stated something along the lines of "If you can't get it at Stockmann, you probably don't need it." I thought that was just some witty tour bus factoid, as I'm not really impressed by giant shopping centers as a rule. However, Stockmann truly was massive and had an impressive array of things to buy. I walked away with some great marimekko mugs and cats today I've been searching for in the US and can't find anywhere! An odd combination, but it does reflect the random assortment of things you can buy here.

Stockmann is one of my favorite shops. There are lots of different clothes, shoes and just clothing in general. There's a lot of makeup from different makeup brands, which I really like.

People say everything is bigger in America... They are wrong. Stockmann is HUGE. They have everything from clothing to groceries, to a bank (I think it is a bank, but not positive) with a great exchange rate! I am sad I didn't have time to explore the entire place. If you need anything and you are in Helsinki chances are Stockmann has it.

Stockmann's is a shopping wonderland. It's got everything an American department store would have, but it has added bonuses of an amazing grocery store and tasty cafe. Rarely do I find a grocery store to be amazing, but I have to say that it is one of the nicest grocery stores I've ever seen, ever. They have a wide variety of just about anything you're looking for, it's very clean, and well lit. The cafe is quick, fresh, and inexpensive. If you're looking for a pastry/snack, this is a great central place to stop. There were tons of sales when I was there, but I don't know how it generally is.

This department store is struggling to find a new identity for itself in a changing world. It still is the Harrod's of Helsinki, but with our shopping culture transitioning online and towards the hypermarkets in the suburbs, the old traditional department stores in the city centers are forced to change. The service is great, and the location is perfect, but the old mantra of selling everything with a slight price premium is no longer up to date. Stockmann is good for tourists, and offers a change to sell goods tax-free for those from outside the EU.

Way over priced.Go to prisma instead. They don't have anything in the working man's price range. IF you go there and look you will find things you like but they are out of your price range. Then you get depressed. SO UN Finnish!

Used to like this store but after coming back from the US, I have to take 1 star away. It can not be compared to those. However, it has everything you need even though you can definitely find cheaper offer in other normal supermarket :) Still fancy in its own way.

The large regional and international department store chain in Finland for whatever you need. Great groceries section in the main store in downtown Helsinki with Alko where you can find that special bottle to enjoy when you get those groceries back home located right next to the grocery section in the store.

I would think of it as the Macys of Finland. Not great, but OK. I was hoping for something closer to the flagshop John Lewis in London or Liberty. It isn't even close.

This is an amazing department store that you have to visit when you are in Helsinki. It is a nice place to hang out, even if you don't have that much shopping to do. Make sure to check out all the food offerings! You can get just about anything. Reindeer sandwich if you want it! Or surströmming (in a can), if that is what you prefer. :) Just don't try to take surströmming on an airplane. (Please don't open it next to me!)

Great lower level super market. You can find interesting items there that are pretty fresh. Slightly pricey than the average neighborhood supermarket but has a wide selection of items in stock. The bakery is pretty good.

Whatever you need is to be found here. They have everything and I really mean everything. They even have bigger sizes in the men's department which my boyfriend appreciated a lot. Prices are not cheap but not overly expensive either depending what you are looking for. And they got free WiFi, always a plus!

One of my favourite shopping malls in Helsinki. You can shop for most of the things you're probably looking for. In terms of price, it's should be one of the expensive shopping malls. I'm not a regular shopper, I usually shop for only what's necessary when I don't have the urge to visit other malls. Itis (biggest shopping mall) is recommended too, as well as Forum. Enjoy your shopping!

If you want quality, this is the best place in Finland. This is big department sore that can offer you quite much everything you need. Store is located in the middle of the city and is easily accessible with any means.
