"Stoke, inside the Marriott City Center, has a contemporary look that's slick without trying too hard. Brunch is served every day here, so you don't need to wait for the weekend to tuck into French toast stuffed with Rice Krispies and ricotta. The menu is concise, with a handful of breakfast selections, salads, and grain bowls, and sandwiches like burgers and fried chicken." - Nancy DePalma

I am beyond impressed with the food here. This is the first restaurant we visited, where every dish was 10/10. The taste was delicious. The restaurant itself was spotless and cozy. You can make it a romantic or family dinner. The staff was very friendly and tentative. We will definitely be back. Keep up the great work.

We picked the restaurant based on Google reviews and when the Uber dropped us off at the Marriott we were concerned about it being a hotel restaurant. But our concerns were unfounded! Stoke was amazing! We had the deviled eggs, drunken shrimp (keep the sauce when you're done with the shrimp - it's delicious!), cheese and ham, and then had pear salads as our entrees. It was wonderful. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We were full, but not overstuffed and very satisfied. And our server was perfect! Helpful and attentive. We could have hung out with her all evening. Our only disappointment was that we weren't in town longer to come back and try some of the amazing looking dishes like the pork shank.

My experience is probably gonna be a little different from everyone else’s because my wife basically reserved the restaurant for my birthday! The atmosphere was a whole vibe and the service and food was excellent! Highly recommended!

This place might have the best burger in Charlotte. Perfect ratio, perfect combo. We have been here multiple times and service is always great. Sets the bar for hotel restaurants

Went for an anniversary dinner, left with a full belly and a great dinner experience. Our server was attentive. Even the chef asked us how are food was! Fantastic. Pork Shank was one of the best dishes I've had in Charlotte. Try it today, not tomorrow !!

Lived this place! Loved the ambiance as well. Our server was amazing! I went for dessert but ended up ordering an appetizer plus dessert. I ordered the Charred Octopus with smashed potatoes. I did like it. However, it lacked seasoning. I added salt 🧂 but it needed more than salt. It needed flavor. I ordered the donut 🍩 and the cheese 🧀 cake 🎂, cheesecake. They were both amazing!! The cheesecake was raspberry flavored and nice and creamy. The donut 🍩 was very fresh. I loved the custard and toffee crumbles on top. Overall, it was a great experience 👍🏾! I will get back!!

This place is totally dead on a Friday night. The food is less than warm although there are few to serve. Asked for the manager and no one can find him. No leadership. I hope someone above this slack manager reads this and he gets his chain pulled. Pretty much walked out, didn’t feel the vibe to stay. But my experience at the bar on Wednesday was fantastic with the staff especially my shortie Emily. She was so attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks and food. She made the stay very comfortable. Sure do miss her tonight. She was exceptional and definitely an asset to the team. I was hoping for the same tonight and didn’t get it. I think Emily should be the manager considering she’s always there and really knows her job. If I come back and she’s not working the restaurant or the bar I will go elsewhere.

Awful experience, will never go back. A small group of us went to the Mother’s Day brunch (which was $70 for each adult) all of the food was cold other than the omelette that was made to order. Almost all of our plates were full when we were finished eating because the food wasn’t warm at all. There was also one server for the WHOLE place. We felt so bad for her as she was running around everywhere and wasn’t able to provide good service due to the fact she was alone. We had empty water glasses and had to clean up our own plates. Again not the waitress’s fault. We asked for the manager to voice our concerns and he was completely dismissive. My friend communicated our concerns about how the food was cold and was quite disappointing since they were charging $70 for the brunch buffet. He told us that the food is warmed under heat lamps so it shouldn’t be cold. We also mentioned that there was only one server for the whole place and he said he didn’t need more than one because there were managers there to help. There was a spill as the server was bringing drinks to another table and neither managers or any other employees offered to help her. She had to clean up the glass and liquid off of the floor while the managers stood in the back and made ONE drink together. There was another incident where the server was cleaning up some plates and such from a table and few utensils fell on the floor and the male manager watched it happened and just turned around. They didn’t offer to comp a buffet meal or anything just offered us a free round of drinks only after he walked away 15 minutes later. We asked for our check so we could pay and leave and our check sat on a counter for at least 10 minutes before it was brought to us and had to wait another 10-15 before it was picked up by the waitress. I hope the waitress knows she is not faulted in any of this and management needs to get it together. This was such a disappointing experience as my friends and I wanted to spoil our moms on their day. I will never be going back and feel so bad that our moms didn’t get the experience they deserve.

Yelp
Must try: Pretzel Brioche, Deviled Eggs, and NY Strip! Why: Loved the Pretzel Brioche with a selection of 3 whipped butters and that Honey Butter was my favorite! The Deviled Eggs were amazing also with smoked trout on top and a side of bacon salad. The 12 oz NY Strip was unique with kimchi seasoning, sherry caramelized onions, and bordelaise sauce. I ordered medium rare and it was tender deliciousness. I enjoyed an Old Fashion with my meal. Notes: Conveniently located in the Marriott City Center Hotel where I was staying, and I was able to charge the room. Service was fantastic all around from host to waiter to floor manager who walked around greeting guest. They were welcoming, attentive, and helpful. I sat near the open kitchen area, which was neat. Spacious and clean restaurant with many seating options like small tables, booths, and high tops for large parties. Would def come back when I'm in town for work!

Yelp
Stoke is located inside of the Marriott in Uptown Charlotte. I've seen the name pop but didn't visit until a friend invited me out. Aesthetics beautiful. Service good. Unfortunately, the food for this visit was a miss. Appetizer - Trout deviled eggs was not good. It had a really funky taste. Entree - Fresh catch (sea bass) with rice grits and wilted collards. The bass was just ok. The rice grits were inedible bc they were wayyyy too smoky and the greens left much to the imagination. Side - Brussel Sprouts - bland and had some thick white sauce on them. Seems they may have been boiled at some point. They were really soft and unseasoned. My friend had the chicken and said it was ok. I love trying places around the city. Unfortunately, this is one I probably won't be back to.

Yelp
Enjoyed this restaurant a couple times during our stay at the Marriott, which is where the restaurant is located. We had an outstanding hamburger (lunch) one day and a terrific dessert during after dinner drinks with friends on another night. We were only there a couple days on business, so unfortunately did not have time to make reservations for a full dinner. Anyway, both times the service was great, the food was terrific, the drinks were satisfying, not gimmicky. I have no doubt that if we had had time to go in for a date night and enjoy a full course meal that all the items in the menu would have been just as good as the two we sampled. And believe me, I'm extremely picky. Lol. I would say the ambience is just OK. Because the restaurant is very open to the main lobby of the hotel, it doesn't give off that "evening out" kind of vibe that you might rather have for a date night. But like I said, the menu was very attractive, and the other people that we dinned with also enjoyed their meals. We're from California, so we do get to experience a lot of different cuisines, but one thing I noticed while we were looking for different restaurants in Charlotte was that there is a lot of "southern food" on almost every menu, which, of course, is no surprise. The thing I liked about the Stoke menu was that it incorporated southern touches, but didn't rely too heavily on the typical collard greens, grits, pimiento cheese, catfish, etc. I would definitely return if we are ever back in Charlotte!!

Yelp
Came here for a going away dinner with a friend! Bar was popping for a weekday night. Drinks were good and strong. Food was delicious! We shared the bread and loved the different butter options. Great service, will be back!

Yelp
Last minute I decided to park at the Marriott (valet) to attend a show later in the evening. Plus I wanted to re-try Stoke as I have not been for a few years or more. So I went to my show and came back to the bar at Stoke for a cocktail and some bites. The menu selection of appetizers was a little weak and I opted for the charcuterie board and the pretzel bread w/ butter. Both came out beautifully plated and it ends about there. Let's start with the charcuterie, first my bad for not asking how big the board was. it would have been welcomed info, the giant size of this thing for one person is a lot. It came out piled high with several meats, cheeses and other accompaniments. Again, if I had 6 other ppl with me, this monster board would have been perfect. Other than the size, the highlights about the board end there. My biggest gripe is that they only provided a sliced loaf of toasted bread. So there were no crackers or mix in textures for the endless combos on cheeses and meats. Plus the bread was not great. If you make a bold choice to highlight this curated loaf of toast, it should be spectacular to taste. Other than that everything else is preference. The pretzel bread sounds good and was presented with a lovely trio of spooned butters. Flavors included; cheerwine butter, honey butter and what looked and tasted like a grainy mustard/horseradish butter. The bread I expected to have some resemblance of a pretzel. Like the top/crust would be deep brown, flaked salt on top or perhaps the shape would be a pretzel. Nada. This looked like another cousin of the charcuterie board bread, boring. Perhaps this loaf didn't cook long enough or someone forgot to pop it in the oven before serving but it failed in looks and taste. The butters were interesting. The cheerwine butter had zero flavor. It wasn't even sweet like the classic local drink. The honey butter was the best of the 3 but not a wow. Lastly the mustard/horseradish butter was not to my liking and I'm not sure what i could pair it with to highlight the profile but I'm stumped. I expected a more varied selection or appetizers with some local ingredients but it felt like this concept is attempting to elevate simple ingredients and load your plate like most southern dinner tables but more flavor is needed and providing a few things that are exceptional versus a lot of blah. Service was good. Staff was inviting and attentive. From the hostess lovely greeting to the 2 bartenders that took care of me, it was a nice spot to end the night.

Yelp
We decided to have a pre-anniversary date night at Stoke in Charlotte while in town for a friend's wedding. Atmosphere and service were great, our server Maria was adorable and full of energy. We had mixed feelings on the food. Pork shank, pretzel bread and Mac and cheese were fantastic. Didn't care for the Shrimp and Grits or Brussels. They could have used more flavor / love. Overall a great spot for a date night when in Charlotte. Hotel is really pretty too! Warning: pork shank is VERY filling! Both myself and my husband ate from it and still had meat left!

Yelp
Always amazing for brunch. The food is consistently delicious (get the breakfast potatoes thank me later!) and the mimosas are amazing. It's never crowded and the staff is super sweet.

Carolina A.

Yelp
This place is nicely decorated, pretty open, including the kitchen area which is appreciated. The service was good and dish I tried was solid, not amazing or something I will remember for ever but pretty good.

Yelp
Center City Marriott has a nice restaurant that can certainly satisfy your cravings whether it be morning or a late night. I came for breakfast and was pleased that they have all the requirements that I look for.... Great customer service, a friendly smile, CLEAN and healthy quality food with a variety of options. No short cuts. No fake food. My food was served hot, prepared as ordered, well seasoned and tasted great. My server had a big smile, she checked on me and kept my water glass full. The ambience was warm, cozy and relaxing. I wasn't rushed or bothered. Perfect morning to start the day.

Yelp
More of a 3.5 stars. I came for a business trip and stayed at the Marriott City Center. I didn't want to go particularly far for dinner especially late at night so I just ate at Stoke, a restaurant located at the lobby. It also has a bar on the other side. I ordered a 100 gardens salad, scallops, and cheesecake. I asked for a very basic salad asking for no chives, apples, and cashews. The portion was huge so I wished I asked for a small portion which you can do. The pieces of lettuce were huge and it was a bit inconvenient to eat. I wish it was shredded up a bit more or cut up in bite size pieces. For the scallops, they were on the salty side and the pieces were a bit inconsistent. It wasn't bad but I did have to alternative back and forth form the scallop to the salad to balance the saltiness. It also had a pretty potent smell. The crème brûlée cheesecake got me so I ordered one. When the waitress described the size, I thought it a small for me to finish in a few bites however it turned out to be just an ordinary slice. It had strawberry sauce all over it which was not described on the menu so I only had a couple bites. It wasn't as great as it sounded. Service was awesome however it can get quite busy and I had to wait a bit for simple requests like a refill and the check. It's definitely convenient to eat at but it's not super amazing.

Yelp
Great food, great service, nice wait staff. And that colossal donut is in the same zip code as heaven.

Amol K.

Yelp
Overall a good experience. Food - Ordered a few starters and they were all hits. Burrata came on toast with avocado and was really good. Honestly could probably eat at a small meal. The charcuterie was also really good. The star was the grilled octopus- absolute star. Tender and cooked perfectly. For the main went with the pork shank and it was huge but overall a bit dry and over cooked. Service - was good. Waitress was friendly and attentive. They closed the bar a bit early 10pm Overall a good spot and experience. I wouldn't run back here but I would certainly go back and probably do drinks and apps.

Andrea S.

Yelp
We picked to eat here for lunch before a show at the belk theater. Was told no bartender there that early so could only pick from wine or beer list. Kale salad was good just didn't expect it to be served hot. Might should put that on the menu. Otherwise, great ambiance, nice waitress. Will give another try at dinner time.

Kita C.

Yelp
This was place was amazing, great place for a company gathering the staff was nice the food however was mediocre. I ordered a chicken BLT the chicken was dry and the bread was hard . However the Donut was one of the most delicious things I have tasted.

Stephen T.

Yelp
The appetizers were fantastic and far superior than the entrées. But, that's about where it ended. The service was so incredibly slow and unwelcoming. Order another drink when you get your first one as it will take 15 mins to get another. Had the pork shank which was pretty good. We also ordered the shrimp and grits which were mediocre and didn't have much flavor. For as long as our dinner took (2 1/2) you would think the food would have come out hot but was barely warm temp for the shrimp and grits. One person in our party ordered the NY strip medium rare and had to send it back as it was close to well done. Restaurant was basically empty and service took almost 3 hours. The lighting and "chefs" table (as they call it) was kinda cool You're not really incorporated to the experience when biking the "chefs table"...... Overall, food looks much better than the taste. Likely would not return. Looking forward to what opens next in that location as it should have been packed for a Saturday night.........

Yelp
The menu changes frequently. I absolutely love the new capellini dish. I love the cocktails and consistent service! Stoke has an upscale vibe with a moderately priced menu.

Tanya C.

Yelp
Last night we had the opportunity to dine with Stoke Charlotte to enjoy one of their signature entrées. We were seated alongside the Chef's kitchen which was perfect. We watched as the food was prepared fresh and cooked to order. It was a semi-full crowd for a Wednesday night so it did take a while for our order to be prepared. We ordered a few cocktails and appetizers and enjoyed the ambiance. This is a nice spot to come after work for drinks and convo. What we ordered: Drinks: Flower in the Bramble Beer Starters: Pretzel Brioche with whipped butter Deviled Eggs Entrée: 12 oz NY strip with caramelized onions Brussels Spouts Also they offer complimentary valet parking!

Theresa E.

Yelp
Upon entry to the hotel, I was struck by the clean but inviting style. There is a very decadent feel that carries through from the hotel to the restaurant. Andrea, the hostess, was great. I was a party of one but she did not make me feel uncomfortable in anyway. Emily, my server came up to my table fairly quickly, as I was an early reservation, and the restaurant was not busy yet. I ordered a glass of wine (Pike Road Pinot) and it was delivered to my table quickly. Great wine by the way, nice fruity red with a smooth, silky finish. Emily was quick to come get my order and explain what was included and what was add on. I ordered the strip cooked medium rare, and added the Brussels sprouts and Mac & cheese because I couldn't decide! Here's where it gets less than five stars... I waited almost 50 minutes for the food, which had it been spectacular, I wouldn't have even remarked on. With no appetizer, I was worried about getting drunk because I ended up ordering a Signature Drink to pass the time and really had to woah up and not finish it, as I had a 40 min drive home. Having said that, The Flower In The Bramble is one of the best vodka drinks I've had in a while. It's the perfect blend of sweet blackberries and tart lemon. I'd drink that ALL day. Emily kept checking on me and didn't make promises on the food that couldn't be kept, which I appreciated. She only told me it was almost done, when it was. The food came and I was disappointed to see that the presentation of the steak was a bit messier than I would expect. The steak itself was well-cooked and tender, but it was covered with so many onions it felt like I was eating a bowl of mediocre French onion soup without cheese. I was really looking forward to the flavors described on the menu but didn't get anything but onion and bordelaise. The Mac and cheese is VERY tasty and the Brussels sprouts had a tasty and interesting flavor but they were way over-cooked. Side note, the sides seem to be meant to share as they are too large to eat alone if you order more than one. I'd rather have a smaller portion at a lower price, especially in a hotel restaurant where many of the guests are traveling solo for business. I was not offered a dessert menu, so I do not know if they have any desserts. Overall it was a nice evening and I SO wanted to give this a 5 -star review. Truthfully, if I was just reviewing staff it would be at least a 6, but I wanted to give an honest critique and the food wasn't quite worth the menu price for me. Regarding wait staff, one final comment...There were two servers and I watched them manage an almost full floor efficiently. I hope Stoke recognizes the value of these ladies because they were amazing.

Meredith L.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Stoke and I had a pretty good experience. It's located off the lobby in the Marriot Hotel in Uptown and there are plenty of parking decks around for parking as well as valet parking in front of the hotel. My friend and I each ordered a glass of rose and immediately we were told that the kitchen was short staffed that night, so it would take a bit longer than normal to get our food. We were fine with that, but we made sure to put our orders in right away. I ordered the 12 oz ribeye and my friend ordered the asian inspired pork shank. We got an order of Mac & cheese as a side and started with the grilled octopus appetizer. The octopus was delicous and cooked very well. It wasn't chewy but instead tender with great flavor. My steak wasn't very hot when it came out but it was still delicious! The star of the show was the pork shank. It was tender and delicious. The sauce was sweet and a bit salty. The Mac and cheese was a disappointment though and a bit dry. I wouldn't waste your money on that side. We ended up getting our entire meal comped besides our drinks because it took over an hour for our food to come out. We expected there to be a longer wait so we were fine with it, but our server and the manager insisted. I thought it was very thoughtful and great customer service. I will definitely be back to try other items on their menu as they change things up. I know a lot of restaurants in the area are hurting due to being short staffed due to covid and that had a lot to do with our experience. Hopefully people will start wanting to work in restaurants again and things will improve!

Yelp
We were extremely pleased with our dinner here. Exceeded expectations. Char Octopus what excellent, deviled eggs amazing, scallops awesome, NY Strip was ok (I'd probably try something else) and the brava fingerling potatoes were such a good accompaniment. Apple crumble for dessert. Excellent service. Overall a really great experience!

Lauren K.

Yelp
Yess to the scallops! They were cooked in smoked chili oil and garnished with a parmesan froth. The 12oz NY Strip was delicious! Tender, cut to perfection and a good portion size. It had kimchi seasoning with sherry carmelized onions - great touch. You must get the Macaroni and Cheese as a side. Loved the addition of the chili breadcrumbs. The Burrata came with breadcrumbs instead of actual bread - not much to eat it with. Luckily the server brought over some pretzel brioche which complimented it very nicely. I would come back again and again.

Kyle T.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Stoke after seeing the reviews and pictures on Yelp. However, overall it was disappointing. Food-wise, I was most excited about the pork shank which looks amazing, but that's the peak of this dish. It's not tender at all and I honestly don't know how it lacks any flavor at all, it was so bland. Esquites was a great side, mac and cheese good and the chicken dish has more flavor, but on the dry side. Nothing special about the ambience, it's an open kitchen which is cool but overall felt like it doesn't really benefit the ambience here. Service was okay as well. Overall, I'd probably give Stoke 2.5 stars

Tricia B.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was slow, even with the restaurant half empty. No bloody marys available to go with brunch.

Ari F.

Yelp
It pains me to rate this place three stars but hopefully my review will shed some light on the reasons why. Firstly our server neglected us so much we were put off from ordering more although it's not like there's much to choose from in the first place. My party witnessed other servers being more diligent about waiting their tables & that knocked them down their first star. The second demerit comes from the seating. Stoke is located in the lobby of the Marriot so as soon as you walk in it's a few paces back meaning every time someone came in, the doors would open & we would catch that draft something serious. The continuous breeze over the course of dinner was irritating as all get out for obvious reasons (it was 29° last night). As I looked around there were empty tables that could've better served or party of five for dinner. We did not need to be seated near the kitchen that was neither charming nor exciting. Had it not been for Queen's Feast I honestly don't see this as an establishment to come & eat if you're not staying at the hotel. If you have a picky eater in your party this is not the place to bring them. Their regular menu is incredibly underwhelming, if you're looking for a full meal you'll have to substitute in the extras but there's so few to choose from you might have a hard time which is why the Queen's Feast menu was the better menu to choose from (to me). Nobody was genuinely disappointed in their choices but we weren't overly excited either. The spiced carrot bisque deserves a spot on the regular menu (not sure if it already is because soups are served on a "of the day" basis & not listed out completely so it's a hit or miss). The crème brûlée cheesecake & donut holes were also good although the whipped butter was an unnecessary complement to the dish a strawberry drizzle or ganache dip would've been the better addition. Think adding butter to the donuts from your Chinese takeout . For my entree I got the coastal catch, the rice tasted great but the texture was off (I can't cook rice either so I know poorly made rice when I see it) & the grouper was excellently made but terribly bland, the rice tasted more like fish than the fish did. We opted in for the Brussels sprouts but we were dangerously underwhelmed by the taste & the way it was cooked it's almost like they were charred first & steamed later the way they melted in your mouth took me back to the days when Brussels had a bad name. Much to my chagrin the dish garnished raisins that we didn't know about & peanuts we had to ask from the get go not to be added they were poorly seasoned if at all you get so lost in the mush & the forced chew that it really isn't clear what you're tasting. My friend ordered the shrimp & grits & gave it a 6/10, and declined to comment further but I personally enjoyed the shrimp off his plate. The wild mushroom pappardelle was flavorful & the short ribs (not pictured) were tender enough to cut with a fork however the random piece bok choy took away from the presentation. I was told The Stubborn Burro was also good & reminiscent of a Moscow mule. All in all, the experience wasn't that great. The food was okay enough to eat, but I don't see myself being in a rush to come back or even recommend. I'm willing to give brunch a try but dinner is a no go for me until next restaurant week.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Decadent southern expired fare, superb service and entertaining views into a kitchen featuring a wood burning oven. Stoke Charlotte is a hip restaurant located inside the Marriott City Center. The restaurants is fairly large and I would describe the cuisine as southern inspired comfort food. We sat very close to the kitchen and really enjoyed watching everyone work while we over indulged. My husband and I had the deviled eggs, lamb tagliatelle, pork shank, roasted brussels sprouts and little donuts. Like I said, we overindulged! The deviled eggs were awesome with a fun bacon twist, the tagliatelle was hearty and rich and the pork shank was fun to eat but a very large serving. Having heard that the one pound donut was amazing but knowing there was no way we could tackle that we ordered little donuts. I was seriously the most full I had been in years but everything was very tasty. The service at Stoke was perfect! The staff seems to work as a team and we received excellent service from everyone. The manager stopped by the table as well which was nice. Aside from getting to watch the action in the kitchen we enjoyed the decor and overall atmosphere.

Unoma O.

Yelp
Stoke is a swanky restaurant in the lovely Marriott City Center, serving up expertly crafted and large portion dishes. As with almost every dining experience in NC, be prepared to be amazed by their large selection of craft beers, specialty cocktails and wine. I got to sample their delicious Flower in the Bramble cocktail. Recommendations include the Sticky Pork Shank, Wagyu burger, and the Char Octopus. Finally, if you come here, you must meet "The Doughnut", a 1/2 lb doughnut stuffed with diplomat cream and covered in sugar and health bar crumble. This doughnut isn't a joke and either bring some friends or ask for a doggie bag.

Yelp
My dinner experience here was quite a bust. Outside of Maria providing excellent service everything else was average at best. To start, don't come here if you're starving because as a party of two it took just under an hour to receive our food. I ordered Ny Strip medium and it came well done. Ordered a chicken breast and it was so heavily seasoned that even after dipping it sauce was hard to eat. Incredibly salty. Also, the chicken breast was $15! The waitress said this was something they offered as an addition to their salads and not a standard menu item but $15 is ridiculous. The Mac and cheese looked delicious but had no taste to it. The texture was there but the mac itself was bland and tasteless. The carrots were pretty good. Glazed in a sweet honey-type sauce. This was the only thing we really enjoyed. For the chicken breast, mac + cheese, carrots and a hot tea our bill was $44. The steak was comped. We love trying out new restaurants in Charlotte but for the time spent and price paid to leave hungry and disappointed made Stoke a place to cross off the list.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Stoke tonight! The hostess was friendly and our waitresses were SO kind (Maria was particularly personable), and while the food did take quite a while to come out, it tasted great (special shoutout to that brioche with the three whipped butters - LIFE CHANGING). Loved their heavy focus on farm-to-table cooking, too, and the vibe of the space is a perfect balance of casual and elevated. Definitely a great spot to have a nice meal in uptown!

Lorri D.

Yelp
Stoke is located inside the Marriott hotel...I'm staying at the Omni across the street, but their restaurant is closed during the week. I had the tagliatelle with lamb, it was quite rich, I ate all the lamb and still had a ton of pasta with sauce leftover. The plating was odd, the bowl was huge with tall sides, it made it a bit awkward to get to the pasta. I didn't get a picture because there was some kind of event that took over the area I was in and they were giving speeches...I felt like a voyeur and wished they had moved me...that and the bowl situation equals 4 stars. My server was awesome, food tasted great and service was quick without feeling rushed. I might head back and try the flank steak, it looked delicious.

Lauren T.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Maria was a great server and educated us on everything! Definitely a place to go in Charlotte.

Yelp
On an anniversary visit to Charlotte, we made reservations at Stoke. The restaurant was nice but not as "fancy" as we thought it would be. The hostess was a little short and dismissive but the waitress was very nice and even took a picture for us. I liked the open kitchen so we could watch a little of the magic behind the scenes. We ordered a couple of drinks (old fashioned and poinsettia) and enjoyed those. They were a bit on the strong side but no complaints. We also ordered the Mac and cheese and pork belly as appetizers. The pork belly was the star of the show. Absolutely delicious, well seasoned, and not too fatty. For dinner ordered the shrimp and grits. They were fine but too bad that pork belly didn't come as an entree! It's a nice place to go but it isn't exactly a place I would pick for celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion.

Yelp
Great food. Nice place. Been there a bunch. Servers going downhill. Our waitress tonight didn't even tell us her name. Had on very casual jeans and couldn't explain some of our menu questions. Sad what's happening in service.

Yelp
I've had Stoke on my to-try list for as long as I can remember. I was intrigued by Chris Cole, who used to be an executive chef here, but has since moved on to his own place: The Goodyear House. The food is good. Service was efficient. But still, something was missing. First, this place is in the Marriot hotel, and if you don't know that ahead of time, you'll circle the downtown area several times trying to find a sign. Like I did. It's unclear where it is, and unclear which lane to park for the valet. The space is pretty inside. The kitchen is open and has a huge bar which would be fun to sit and watch the chefs. We were in a lovely booth which was very comfy. Our waitress was efficient for sure. She just didn't hang around much and it felt a bit rushed. She was matter-of-fact and not up for chit-chat. The restaurant was pretty empty too, odd for a Saturday night. The food was fabulous. My entree was the only one that was just OKAY to me, but my friends loved it. Here's how I rank those dishes: 1. STICKY PORK SHANK Chile-sorghum glaze, peanuts, toasted sesame seed. I'd have never picked this in a million years, but it was insanely tender and spiced perfectly! 10/10 2. Pork Belly with Chilean Andes Arrope glaze, spring pickles: Tender and so flavorful! 10/10 3. THE DOUGHNUT Diplomat cream, Heath bar crumble: This sucker is 1 full pound and fed 3 people. AND it was delicious! 10/10 4. Pretzel Brioche with Whipped Butters: That honey butter though. 10/10 5. Deviled Eggs with Pickles, Aleppo, herb bacon salad: Just enough mustard to give them a good kick! 9/10 6. FLOWER IN THE BRAMBLE Cocktail Social House vodka, blackberry, lavender, lemon: Sweet and perfect! 9/10 7. COASTAL CATCH (Halibut) with Lobster scent Carolina rice, peas, wilted greens, gremolata: Fish was fresh and the rice was creamy and perfect. 8/10 8. SPRING PEA RAVIOLI Beurre Monte, sweet peas, mint, serrano chips: Fresh and delicious! 8/10 9. CAPELINNI Fava and pistachio pesto, scallops, shrimp, chile breadcrumbs. I'm torn because everyone else loved it, but it was underwhelming for me. 6/10 Would I go back? Of course. The food was sincerely delicious. I just didn't have the same "experience" that I had at The Good Year House or Supperland.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and the scenery was amazing! We shared everything and enjoyed everything but we collectively agreed the smoked pork belly was the best dish of the night. The vibe is relaxed even though it's a very nice restaurant. It's not stuffy at all. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Totally surprised how mediocre the food was! Sticky shank wasn't good so not go here!

Yelp
Stoke is currently back open & I'm super stoked about it ‼ I used to frequent here pre covid pretty often . The vibes here is a casual upscale setting . All of the staff here are always extremely nice. The part I love here most is they have the open kitchen I'm always a sucker for an open kitchen inside of a restaurant. Stoke is in the heart of uptown & they are an oldie but such a goodie . I have never had anything here I didn't love. We started off with a few drinks then went in for the kill . We ordered the burratta , which I'm going to have to say I was impressed with im normally not too crazy about Burrat. The watermelon combo with heirloom tomatoes was a genius combination. Oh the deviled eggs were to die for. I don't know what they put in that pretzel brioche but omg , those whipped butters that were paired with the bread was so tasty . Please don't get me started on the 100 gardens salad ! Like who gets excited about a salad? We did , this was one of the best salads I had in a long time it was super fresh the Parmesan cheese that it was topped off with did the trick . We also ordered the cast iron pork loin, dry pack scallops , 12 oz NY Strip, shrimp & grits , along with Mac n cheese and corn . For dessert we had the donut holes . Stoke is extremely slept on , it's an experience and meals are top notch . Stoke is definitely somewhere you want to take your significant other or if you're trying to impress a date. You're going to get a bang for your buck each and every time .

Yelp
Excellent food and drinks. Expensive but we did expect that. That's why it lost a star. Still recommend.

Yelp
Stoke has always been a favorite and has emerged from the pandemic several big notches better than it ever was--and that's huge praise because it was always awesome. We've forgotten how beautiful and open and relaxing the vibe is in this restaurant is--so great to be back. The service is cool and breezy just like the entire vibe of the place. The cocktails were delicious and refreshing especially for a summer evening (we had the Fresarita and the Flower in the Bramble). Squash blossoms were good but the bed of duck sugo under which they were served elevated them to crazy good and quite unique. The little gem salad with buttermilk dressing, lardons and avocados was cool, crisp and satisfying. Both the appetizer and salad are definitely large enough to share. For dinner we had the dry pack scallops and the capellini The capellini was tossed in pistachio pesto and topped with both shrimp and scallops. Angel hair pasta is my favorite and the capellini was pure heaven. The chef has been thoughtful enough to add donut holes to the menu since the 1 lb doughnut can be too much for an intimate party. Without room to spare we indulged anyway and had them with both crushed Oreos and crushed Heath bar--the perfect ending to a great meal.

Yelp
OMG, I am SO glad my best friend and I decided to walk the extra 500 feet and try this restaurant. You will NOT be disappointed. Our server, Amanda, was an absolute delight. She was professional, personable and efficient. The martini was on point, delicious. The capalini was heavenly. The flavor combinations of a creamy base with a little bite of spice. The shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection. The asparagus was crisp and flavorful. I had to make myself stop eating, yes, it was that good. I have traveled quite extensively and eaten at some of the finest restaurants around the world, and I place this one right up there with them. It's a must try.

Yelp
So we've been here twice, this time was for breakfast as we were staying at the Marriott. The food is good, but the service is just horrible. Started off going to the host stand and she advised us it would be 5-10 minutes and to just sit to the side. Well 10 minutes later we notice people are walking up and being sat right away so we get up and ask. She replied oh I was looking for you and didn't see you. We were literally right outside of the entrance and she never once poked her head out or even called out for us. We finally get sat, and the busser brings us water and coffee, but my wife asked for a tea that just never showed up. It then took 30 minutes for the server who appeared to be the only one working to come take our orders. There was at least one out two people expediting orders and a manager running food but ignoring every other table. I had to stop him more than once to ask for more water and coffee and he didn't say a word and had this pompous attitude like my request was beneath him, and then sent the bus boy to come refill them. It took 45 minutes to get food and things were missing and it wasn't worth asking for because we were then riding to eat and get back to our rooms to check out at 11, when we went to breakfast at 915. The waitress apologized but it shouldn't be in her. The manager was clearly stuck up and felt actually taking care of people wasn't necessary.

Yelp
While in CLT, I was taken to Stoke. Great place with great food! There were three of us, so we ordered a few plates and shared. On our table is the shrimp and grits, pork shank, lamb Tagliatelle, Mac and cheese, and broccollini. Everything was delicious and my favorite was the lamb. The lamb was spicy but nothing that would have you saying it's too spicy, in my opinion. The pork shank was flavorful and tender, fall-off-the-bone tender (we lifted the bone right out.) Mac and cheese and broccollini were both on point. The desert (fried doughnuts with crushed oreo topping) satisfied my sweet tooth but I wouldn't order it again. Bottom line: I would return to/recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
They were out of 3 of 5 GF options on the menu and had croutons on a GF salad. We had to ask the waitress questions about menu options and she didn't know the answer and didn't offer to find out. Deviled eggs and wagyu burger were good. Brussels sprouts weren't cooked, pretzel bread was burnt and Mac n cheese had very little cheese.

Yelp
My friends and I spent a few days in Charlotte for a much needed girls trip. We were sooooo excited that we planned a full itinerary so we could enjoy what Charlotte had to offer. First up on the itinerary was Stoke for dinner. We had read the reviews and decided to go for it. Stoke is located in the front of the Marriott hotel and was awkwardly placed almost Im the lobby. It was very pretty as the photos suggested and the kitchen open in the middle of the restaurant. We were seated instantly as we had a reservation. Once seated, our waitress came to take our orders. I'm guessing dent Covid, the menu was not very impressive. Two of us ordered the steak with Brussels and one ordered the scallops. I asked for my steak Medium Well and it came out medium RARE! Epic fail, the other steak came out RARE when she asked for Medium. Needless to say, that was the beginning of the disappointment for me. We both sent the steak back to be properly prepared and mine was still too rare for me to eat it. My friend's scallops were just okay. I had really high hopes for this place, but they disappointed this time. Our drinks were very good, the food was so-so at best. I would love to come back when we are out of the woods with Covid and give them another shot. I think they can do so much better than this!

Yelp
On Friday my husband and I got to dine at this cool spot in the Marriott. We got seated on the far side of the restaurant near the kitchen and the back where they took the dirty dishes. To start I didn't love the seating, but we ended up getting the tea on the restaurant since we were so close to the kitchen and staff. We had a good waiter named Rachel. To drink I got a flying fizz which was an excellent choice and I highly recommend. For dinner my husband and I both wanted the 12 oz NY strip. I have to say I am not a steak eater but the reviews of this steak looked so good I had to try it. The steak did not disappoint. Even my husband who is a "steak connoisseur" gave it an 8 out of 10. It was crisp on the outside like they cooked it in a cast iron and COVERED in caramelized onions which was so good! For our sides we got fire roasted carrots and Brussel sprouts. The carrots, were my favorite part of the meal! They were so sweet and good! The brussel sprouts however were very plain.

Yelp
Hungry? You're in good hands with Stoke. They proudly make everything from scratch in an open kitchen using local ingredients and a whole lotta soul. They focus on southern foods that are simple, rustic yet refined. My friends and I came for restaurant week and were blown away. We've been doing restaurant week for the last four years and Stoke is our favorite so far. We shared everything and enjoyed everything but we collectively agreed the smoked pork belly was the best dish of the night. We also agreed the donut holes we the best dessert of the night. But really, you can't go wrong with anything.

Yelp
I come here often mainly because of the old fashion drinks but every once in a while I check out a item on their menu. This pork shank is fall of the bone tender and well seasoned. Be careful or you may gnawing on the bone. Haha Exceptional service always. Keep up the good work

Yelp
I came here for an anniversary dinner before heading to a show. Our waitress took a minute to first come to our table, but once she did, she answered our questions and provided feedback on a few items we were debating. We ordered the burrata, kale salad, scallops and brussel sprouts. All the food items were really delicious, as were the drinks. Unfortunately the kitchen was moving really slow, and the restaurant was probably at 50-60% capacity when we arrived but lessened as we sat there, so that was frustrating since we were pretty late to the show. Our waitress comped the carrots side due to the wait, and was quick to bring us the check. Thankfully they also have free valet parking so that made things easier. The restaurant is in the Marriott hotel and there's an accessible at-floor level section where we sat but an elevated area by the bar. I'll return, but I'll budget more time if planning to go to a show or something else after dinner.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Stoke so we decided to come for restaurant week. After we made reservation, it was announced that Chef Coleman was leaving so we were there for his last night. We had an early reservation and were seated right away. We were seated with a great view of the open kitchen which was cool. There were four of us and we split our appetizers of the deviled eggs, hushpuppies, sticky pork toast, and pan roasted scallop. They were the best hushpuppies I've ever had. The scallop was amazing and the pork toast was very unique. For entrees, my husband and I split the smoked pork belly and the catfish. They were both incredible. The pork belly was probably my favorite, but it was a small portion. I finished with the donut holes for dessert. They were awesome. Three big donut holes with a ton of cream to go with them. No Heath crumbles for me since I don't like chocolate. The vibe is relaxed even though it's a very nice restaurant. It's not stuffy at all. I'd definitely recommend coming here for a nice dinner and hope the next chef carries on what chef Coleman started.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautiful. Great decor and the staff was very friendly. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly empty so we were seated right away and it wasn't long after we sat down when our waitress Rachel came to take our drink order and go over the menu with us . The highlight of our night was meeting another Yelp Elite Jordan. We talked about traveling and food until her guest arrived. Rachel explained the menu in detail so we could make the best choice for our entrees. For how expensive the entrees were they should have come with at least one side. I really enjoyed sitting close to the open kitchen and watching them cook and plate the food. The drink I had was really good with unique taste. I love spicy drinks and I would give it a 6 on the spice level. I can say that I really enjoyed the food it was seasoned well and was fresh. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
On July 26 my friend and I ordered from the Queen's Feast menu. For $45 you selected an appetizer, entree, and dessert. My heirloom tomato salad lacked flavor and was missing the goat cheese snow from the description. The shrimp with pasta and corn sauce also lacked any flavor. The chef needs a heavier hand with salt. There were only 6 small shrimp with no seasoning. For dessert I was supposed to get half a donut with diplomat cream and toffee. The server said they were out, but to please accept a replacement which was a ridiculous oversized donut of the same description. It was about 10 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall! I was only able to eat 4 bites and they were scrumptious. The servers were all very friendly and met all of our needs. The atmosphere was fresh and clean.
