A beautiful hotel nestled in a quiet part of Slough, surrounded by countryside and a lovely pond in the garden. Competitively priced.
It does, unfortunately need a lot of TLC and investment to bring it up to standard.
The service was fantastic, with most staff very helpful and attentive.
There are plenty of rooms both in the main house, and also garden rooms. The garden rooms were modern and well equipped, albeit much smaller. The issue I had with them was that there's a hospital nearby so the noise from ambulance sirens was very frequent and loud. If you're a light sleeper, this isn't great.
I then moved to a room in the main house, very kindly accommodated by the reception staff. The room was huge, with beautiful views over the garden, with the benefit of a bathtub next to the window too.
The room was tired. The mattress wasn't that comfortable but evidence of neglect all round. White painted cardboard was used to cover a hole in the ceiling (screwed in), the curtains were torn and the furniture was damaged. I did have a good sleep, however.
The food was ok. Breakfast took a while to arrive, but the produce was nice.
Dinner was a mixed bag. Quite expensive but good variety. I ordered steak cooked medium rare. It came out well done. When challenged, they said it was fine. I was too hungry to complain, so I ate it anyway.
Overall, a lovely property, but in need of significant investment to bring it up to a good standard.
