The hotel itself was fine. The rooms were large but dated with lots of signs of bad repairs over the years. The sink in our bathroom didn't drain, we told them but maintenance never came to fix it. The water in the shower was cold and the toilet was loose. We also booked this place because the website says it has a hot tub but it's been removed. Noticed a lot of inconsistencies. The price would have been right it the building was in better repair.

We rented the executive suite. The suite has one large bedroom with a king size bed. Through curtained pass doors, you will find the kitchen ( coffee maker, full size fridge, microwave, some dishes, wine glasses, cutlery) which has a granite top bar with stools. The living room has a large sofa bed, desk, coffee table and large patio door. There were several chairs. A good size bathroom with tub can be reached through each room. There were tv’s in each room along with dressers.|The room was perfect for us as several family members came over for a get together before we all went for dinner.||The room was very quiet, even though we were looking out the back of the hotel to a parking lot for school buses.||The continental breakfast was good. Coffee, tea, juices, fruit, yogurt, muffins, a toaster where you could toast bagels and bread. ||Very friendly staff.||We have stayed here several times to visit family, but have always rented the regular rooms. They are also very comfortable, clean and quiet. Beds are comfortable too.||Location is very good. A grocery store is behind the hotel, The Beer store is across the street, and the hotel is a short distance from the downtown and from highway 11. Large parking lot.

Stone Gate Inn (Orillia, Ontario) - A Disastrous Experience I recently stayed at Stone Gate Inn in Orillia, Ontario, under very unfortunate circumstances. My family had booked rooms to attend a funeral for a loved one, with my father handling all the hotel arrangements and paying for the reservations. Unfortunately, the entire experience was riddled with problems, primarily stemming from awful customer service and disorganization. Upon arrival, my family members were told they could not check into their rooms unless my father personally presented his ID for each individual and room, even though he had already paid and made all the reservations. After a lot of back and forth, the staff reluctantly accepted a picture of my father’s ID. However, the issues didn’t stop there. Despite having an email confirmation with our names and the room reserved under my father’s account, the hotel gave away our room. When I addressed this with the front desk, they had no intention of correcting their mistake. The staff simply told me that I hadn’t "called ahead to reserve the room" and somehow blamed me for the issue. It was beyond frustrating. I called my father to resolve the situation and returned to the front desk. When my father tried calling them directly, the staff decided to put up a sign saying, "Attending to other clients, will return shortly," and proceeded to ignore three incoming calls while I stood at the desk. It felt as though they were deliberately avoiding us. Only when I left the lobby did they return to the desk, and I could see them sneak back in as soon as I stepped into the stairwell. The only person who seemed genuinely concerned about the situation was the maintenance man, who was not part of the hotel staff. He offered to call his manager to address the room mix-up. This was a kind gesture, but at that point, it was late, we had been traveling all day, and all we wanted was to rest. We declined, not wanting to bother a manager who was off-duty at home. Still, I appreciated this man's sincere attempt to help. Additionally, we had paid for a continental breakfast that was beyond disappointing. The so-called breakfast consisted of stale cereal, bagels, and toast. There was no hot meal or buffet, despite what we had been promised. When my sister asked about hot meals, the staff rudely informed her that if we wanted eggs, we had to specifically ask. My sister was appalled to see them microwaving eggs in a large bowl and then using a potato masher to "scramble" them. It was hands down the worst breakfast we ever encountered at a hotel. By far, this was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The staff did nothing to resolve their errors, and the treatment I received was absolutely unacceptable. I’m giving it 1 out of 5 stars because, unfortunately, I can't rate it 0. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place if you value customer service and your peace of mind.

We booked the hotel as a party of 8 plus 3 children coming from different parts of Ontario for funeral. We were "welcomed" with hostility and prejudice. The consierge was racist and mean, rather than helpful and understanding. The rooms are somewhat ok. They definitely remember better days with signs of wear and poor maintenance. After reading this if you still decide to book a room in this motel, please remember there are microwaved eggs available for breakfast, you just have to call the desk 30min prior so they have time to prepare it.

5/5 This hotel has become our second home during a difficult time. The staff have been exceptionally helpful and kind to us during our 2 week stay. Breakfast is available every morning with coffee, baked goods, scrambled eggs and more. There is a nice little pool that is great for a leisurely swim, with a couple noodles and life jackets available for the kids. Our room is very nice and clean, and our room has been refreshed every other day during our stay. There is no other hotel in town with such great hospitality and amenities. Thank you Stone Gate Inn !

Rooms okay, but breakfast is non existent if you are expecting any sort of meat or anything. For the price you pay it's definitely not worth it. They say breakfast included, but you can choose from bread, muffins, bagels, yogurt or cereal. Nothing for anyone lactose intolerant or gluten free. Won't be back. Edit: just found out I was charged $100 for a broken toilet seat, which was not broken when we left the room, my boyfriend and I double and triple checked the room as we are both paranoid about forgetting things. I know for a fact everything was as we left it when we found it. Absolute nonsense. Worst customer service also. Save your money and book elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the stone gate for one night and it was horrible the pull out couch was filthy I had to wash it myself with wipes in order for my son to sleep on it. They did offer me another room but when I went to look at the room there were a bunch of hair on it and was still dirty so I choose to keep my room. Plus there was a noise like if there was a mice or something like that which made it difficult to have a good night sleep. |Also we had two hypoallergenic non shedding puppies with us and we had to pay 100$ extra for them which is ridiculous. The guy had said 50$ at first and than when we came in he said it was 50$ per dogs, what a rip off especially when the room wasn’t even clean. |If you can avoid this hotel do so.

Zero stars. Would NOT recommend to a friend. This experience was incredibly disappointing. The service was poor, the staff seemed disengaged, and the overall atmosphere was unprofessional and disorganized. From the start, checking in was a nightmare. They couldn’t locate our reservation despite us having confirmation emails—emails that were sent by them! Rather than resolving the issue, they dismissed our concerns entirely. Our room assignments were incorrect, and when we brought it to their attention, we were met with indifference and no attempt to correct the mistake. When I requested to speak with a manager, no one could tell me when one would be available, let alone onsite. At one point, my brother was trying to sort out the room situation, and the front desk agent simply put up a "Back in 5 minutes" sign and walked away. We could see him standing in the back on his phone, while the phone at the front desk rang non-stop. Dirty sheets were also left in the hallway until late into the evening. The breakfast was just as disappointing. We were told there would be a full buffet with hot options, but the reality was a selection of stale pastries and cold, unappetizing food. The only hot option—eggs—were microwaved and then mashed with a potato masher. When I inquired about this, the front desk agent snapped that it would take 15–20 minutes to prepare and that we should have called ahead. There were no signs or instructions indicating that breakfast needed to be preordered, making the whole experience even more frustrating. We are pretty low maintenance guests, but the level of indifference, rudness and overall sass from this team just rubbed me the wrong way. Overall, the customer service was terrible, and while the rooms were passable, they were certainly not worth the price. I won’t be returning, and I would strongly recommend others look elsewhere.

Yelp
Red Flag #1. Cancellation fee of $249. 46 when room fee before service charges and taxes was 220.77. How is that possible? Please don't book here. I tried to cancel over a month away and told this is the cancellation fee. Red Flag #2. Charged 100% for room months in advance. Costumer service was rude and not helpful. I've never left a complaint before for anything until today. I'm still shocked. Lesson learned. Don't make my mistake please. Hope others will see this and avoid this place.

Yelp
This is our go-to hotel when we come to Orillia! I love how clean they keep their rooms. I also love that eveb their smallest rooms have a small sink, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, plates, cups amd cutlery. I have to bring snacks wherever I go because if my toddler so having a fridge is so helpful. We also love that the accommodations include a full breakfast in the am. They provide eggs, sausage, cereal, bagels, waffles, coffee/tea/juice and yogurt. They have a pool and hot tub which is alwaya fun! We also like the location that its close to the port of Orillia and restaurants. Next to the parking lot they have a foodland open 24 hours so If i forget snacks i can just grab it from there.

Yelp
Decided to stay in Orillia over the Canada Day weekend, so we decided to stay here after reading reviews. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and could use some minor renovations (possibly updating the furniture). The hotel was near a few stores and beaches. The wifi and parking is free, however the wifi isn't that great. It was super slow and did not work properly in certain areas of the room. The elevator.. oh boy. You will have to wait a long time to get on the elevator, so keep that in mind. The staff are really friendly. During the evening, they drop off a card at each room with chocolate, which was super sweet! The only thing I noticed about some of the staff, would be that they don't really know about the hotel itself. When we had a few questions about the rooms, the front desk attendant seemed pretty confused. Also, we had to wait such a long time to get a room that we went to nearby beach and came back. P.S. there's free breakfast!

Yelp
This hotel is not worth the $400+ we spent to stay in the luxury king suite. Our first room we found make shift smoking paraphernalia behind the curtain which did not have weed remnants in it. Then we found a white powder under a lamp. The jacuzzi did not work. We were moved at 2am to another room with a working jacuzzi and also had 2 bath robes in it which we weren't even aware were supposed to be in the room as our first room didn't include them. The hot tub in the pool room was not working and looked like it was used for storage, we were quite disappointed as we were not informed of this. The complimentary breakfast consisted of some watery tasting scrambled eggs and 2 weird sausages... that was it. We went out while the housekeeper was on our floor really looking forward to coming back to a clean room fresh towels etc and we did remove the do not disturb sign, but they never came. In fact we put our dirty towels in the hall hoping to hint that we wanted this done and they stayed in the hall until we left the following day at 1pm. Overall I'm pretty upset that I spent this much for this quality of stay and service.

Yelp
Exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable beds. The staff are engaging and very helpful. Upon check in, I was given a number of suggestions for local fare for dinner, and we weren't let down. Pleasantly surprised with the evening mints they gave us. A very relaxing experience. Nice touches include an indoor pool and spa.

Great location for down town area and very reasonable rates. Standard fare for free breakfast. Great service and a well maintained inn. Very accommodating staff and the room was well appointed with micro, fridge and kitchen essentials. A+ Stone Gate Inn.

Yelp
If you like someone who is visiting Orillia, recommend this place to them. Its not much more expensive but it is really pretty nice.
