4-star- smelly room
We expected an older hotel, and it is- no charging for electric cars, and no USB outlets in the rooms. That, we could handle.
Given several other concerns, not taken seriously by the staff, I would rate our visit disappointing.
We knew we would be arriving late, so my wife noted in the booking that we'd like the sofa bed prepared for our six-year old.
When we checked in at 9:30 pm, the sofa bed hadn't been prepared. The front desk person said she'd come up soon. She also explained that the pool and exercise room didn't open until. 9 am. Given our planned early departure the next morning, that was disappointing.
When we opened the door to our room, the air conditioning was off and the windows shut. There was a strong smell in the room- perhaps urine, charitably some strong cleaning solution scent, but definitely not where we wanted to stay.
The front desk person hadn't arrived yet, so I went back to the lobby and requested another room, which she soon arranged. I reminded her that we'd need bedding for our son.
The second room had the window wide open and the air conditioning off- quite different that the first room. When she arrived with the bedding, she opened the pull-out couch, pointed to the bedding, and left. A disappointing experience given the four-star rating.
I stopped by the front desk on my way out the next morning to chat about my concerns. The front desk person listened politely but offered no apologies for their missteps on room preparation or assistance. When I asked about the late opening of the recreation facilities, he said that if I had come to the front desk, he would have opened the gym early. That could easily have been communicated on our arrival.
Another small thing- in our room booked for three people, there were only two bath towels. It's that lack of attention to the customers' needs and comfort that defined our stay.
