"Stone Mountain Park gets its name from the 800-foot dome-shaped mountain at its center. The park spans 3,200 acres and is one of the most popular destinations in Georgia. Visitors can rent or bring their own RV, or choose one of the site’s yurts or safari tents. Between the park’s seasonal festivals and outdoor recreation, there’s a lot to see and do. Campers can catch a firework show on the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend, see life-size dinosaur replicas, or take a boat out on Stone Mountain Lake. If you forget anything at home? Just stop by Stone Mountain’s General Store."

I could not say enough about how wonderful our experience was at this campground for Christmas. Half of us traveled from Virginia and the other half traveled from Florida. We had a total of 17 and rented 4 yurts. The beds were some of the most comfortable beds we had ever slept in. The heat units were an absolute lifesaver! Each of our yurts stayed nice and cozy the whole time. There were plenty of outlets inside and outside. Each yurt came with two picnic tables, one in front and one on the back deck. I will say getting down to the water was a bit of a climb so if you are not moderately physically fit, it may be A challenge for you. Every day we had so much fun fishing and going down to the pavilion to participate in all of the wonderful activities that the ladies put on. They did arts and crafts, movie nights, family game nights, cocoa, s’mores, popcorn, etc. you name it they had it. I can only speak on bathrooms 5 and 6 because those were the ones closest to us. They were fantastic! By far the nicest camp bathrooms we have ever experienced and we camp a lot! They have clearly been beautifully updated, and we loved the natural hanging plants inside of the restrooms. It was the most ick free camp bathroom we have experienced lol. I would say it would be nice to have washer and dryer facility at all the bathrooms, We had to drive out to further bathrooms whenever we need to do any laundry. We were also missing a utility sink that we are used to having at other campgrounds to make it easier to wash dishes, especially when the water coming out of the Spicket at the campground is like ice cubes. Ultimately though we have no major complaints. We cannot thank this campground enough for hosting such an amazing Christmas for my family. We look forward to our next trip. We’ve decided to go in the summertime so that we could experience all of the summer activities that this wonderful campground has to offer. Normally, we would not consider such a long trip in the summertime but thankfully these yurts Have not only heat but also AC so we are confident we will be just as comfortable in the summertime. ❤️❤️ Ps. For those wondering, we checked in on Monday, December 23rd and checked out on Friday, December 27th (4 nights, 3.5 days). We had 4 yurts (F2, 1, 2, 13) That slept all 17 of our family members very comfortably. Cost for entire trip came out to about $157 a person. 🤩🤩

The camp sites are very small, they have really packed in as many sites as possible. Ours was extremely unlevel so bad we couldn't even use the picnic table. The campground bathrooms were in disrepair and very dirty. One of the guests also must have smoked weed in the ladies bathroom, it reeked. The washer and dryers only take quarters and there is no change machine and 2 of the machines did not work. Dried my towels and they did not finish drying. I had to lay them out to finish drying at our next stop. They have a lot of amenities but the basics are not worth the money. I would skip this and just go to a state park. The laser show and firework show was great. Stone Mountain Park is ok, not worth the money in my opinion. You're better off staying at a state park and just going to the amazing Atlanta Aquarium skipping this all together.

Had a great time spending Christmas here. Enjoyed the grounds as they were very clean and people were friendly. They offered all kinds of activities for the kids around the nice warm fireplace.

Google
We throughly enjoyed our trip. Christmas at Stone Mountain greatly exceeded my expectations. The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars is due to trash on the ground at the playground and no swing set. The staff was warm and welcoming. The s’mores and popcorn were a delicious treat at the end of the night.

Our family of 5 had a great time in the yurt! Breakfasts and dinners on the back deck right on the lake were great! The bathhouse was always nice and clean, and the pool was a relaxing reprieve from the heat. There’s so much to do around the park! The trails were very nice and easy enough for our 5-yr-old. And the attraction pass gave us almost a full day’s worth of fun things to do, capped off by the awesome laser/drone/fireworks show!

I grew up coming to Stone Mountain and when we learned our granddaughter would be traveling with us this summer, Stone Mountain CG was the first place I booked. The park is great. Hundreds of sites to choose from and a price affordable for almost any budget. The sites are close together but they are well maintained as is the CG itself. We had a back in site near the pool and playground and really enjoyed the shade from the oak in the hot afternoons. The pool was great as well but be warned, it is the only pool for the whole campground so it can get busy. There are plenty of other activities to keep everyone entertained. We always enjoy walking the park and taking in the great views. This does help me pick out our site for our next visit so we make sure to walk the whole park. We had an issue with water pressure while here so I can't give all the hookups great ratings like I normally do. For some reason we would lose pressure between 8-10am at varying lengths of time. Sometime 10 minutes, sometimes over an hour. Maintenance couldn't figure it out so we ran off of our tanks in the mornings. The rest of the connections were fine.

This campground is wonderful. We stay in a full hookup in the red section on the water. The view is beautiful. I highly recommend this campground. We were there a couple Christmas' ago and it was about 9 degrees when we got there. We went through a lot of propane and they could fill the tanks there at the campground, which was very convenient. There is also a Walmart very close.

Yelp
Great place to just hang out, relax, hike, kayak and fish. Great staff Georgia, John, Angie and T

Yelp
Our stay here was excellent. Stayed here in a Class C motorhome. Clean Restrooms. Lots to see and do..

Yelp
We LOVED our stay! Beautiful view (we were on M), clean, so easy to get around the park, lots of trees and animals.

Yelp
Do NOT stay in the yurts. We camped here last year with RV's and saw the yurts while walking around the campgrounds. Horrible idea. They are so far from the bathrooms so it got old quick having to make that hike every time. The heat hardly worked which we were forewarned upon check in so it was a guessing game trying to get it to work and to what temp it would reach. The beds. Wow. Prob the original mattresses from when these things were built. So old, warn down, thin, uncomfortable, loud & squeaky. There are only 4 outlets total inside the yurt so I'd recommend bringing an extension strip with extra outlets. The fan blades are warped and the fan didn't work not that we needed it. We made the best of it and enjoyed our stay but I do NOT recommend the yurts.

Yelp
The property is so pretty with lovely views. The guy that locked up the pool was so nice (I wish I had gotten his name- but he was very friendly). We enjoyed our hike up Stone Mountain quite a bit. Unfortunately, the power at the Stone Mountain park went out the night we arrived so everything was closed the day we were there to visit. We had power at the campground which was great, though. We were really dismayed with the pool and camp store hours. Everything shuts down at 5pm which is way too early. The pool hours are 10-5 which is too late of a start and too early of an end when it comes to camping with kids. We like to swim in the early morning and later afternoon, so the timing of the campground does not work for us.

Victor B.

Yelp
Many sites. Watch videos to find the ones you want. We went to test out a new, last year model. Sadly purchased from SuperDeals RV and had a bunch of issues. The site is nice with the open space around the pool. The staff was helpful for issues we encountered.

Yelp
Stone Mountain Campground was a very good place to spend Memorial Day weekend (during COVID-19). We stayed from May 26 to May 28 and paid a total of $76. We stayed on site #198 which is excellently located with a great view of the mountain. Due to COVID-19 Stone Mountain Park attractions were closed, but the hotels, golf courses and natural areas including Grist Mill, Covered Bridge, Quarry Exhibit and hiking trails were still open so we had fun wandering around even though it was rainy. There is a general store to buy last minute necessities pretty well stocked, a laundry room, and the bathrooms were pretty close to the sites which were super clean as well. The booking site is very easy, and the staff is super friendly. Would recommend staying here.

Yelp
Last minute we realized we buttoned up our businesses for the holidays and we're looking for different sceneries. Booking a site is extremely easy and organized with their online tool. I cant speak for an RV perspective but for the primitive sites I don't think you can go wrong selecting a site. What is primitive? No it's not Naked and Afraid where were gallivanting with no shelter or tools. It's also not in the luxury of an RV or electric shelter; just plain ole tent camping. Our family is used to no amenities, no bathrooms, and especially no service. That can also be why my review tends to sway on the positive side. That being said it is pricier than a 12.00 state park donation. With a pool, facilities, hot showers, recreational activities, and 30 minutes from beautiful Hot-lanta (Atlanta) you cant pay enough for the convenience and safety. At the campgrounds you can expect trash pick up, friendly service, and a scenery that will remind you God made this Earth. Overall this is definitely a must camp area!

Yelp
$40 a night with a 2 night minimum is just too pricey for what you get. You could easily stay at a nicer spot upstate with significantly more bang for your buck (not to mention quieter). Surprisingly noisy given the lots were far from full. Lake views and availability of fire ring, hibachi and picnic tables were ok but in dire need of maintenance. The bathroom facility was adequate though could also use updating. Would probably not go back except for a a day picnic. Just not worth it for an overnight.

Yelp
We walked around the park to check out all of the campsite loops. I will be honest, I am glad that we were staying in site 150. I think the loop behind the office is the nicest loop. There are some sites on the other loops that are closer to the lake and a little more secluded, but our road was a lot smoother than the others and we were up on a hill which allowed us to see the lake and the top of Stone Mountain. Our site was also across the street from a comfort station which was nice. The campground has a pool and a small playground. There is a lot to do in the park. There are plenty of hiking trails. I recommend taking the trail up to the top of the mountain, if that is too strenuous, take the gondola up and then hike down. Take a ride across the covered bridge and walk around Indian Island. Take a bike ride around the outside loop(7.5 miles) of the park with some nice uphill and downhill sections. The campground was well taken care of, unfortunately the park is showing some signs of age and not being kept up. There are some areas of the park that could use a little TLC. Overall it is a nice campground and I would stay here again if I was visiting the park.

Charlene S.

Yelp
The park is beautiful. The people are nice. However, the site we had (and at least half of the others) were very unlevel. The asphalt was broken and there was a large useless slab of concrete in the way of our steps. Some of the people staying there seemed to be long term residents, according to the amount of trash and things in their yards. Some of the roads also were very unlevel, with pits and bumps that will jerk the vehicles around. There were some loops that were better than others, but be very careful when you choose sites.

Chris-Jana P.

Yelp
So my husband and I stay Ed her for 6 months while he was building the shake shack in Piedmont park. Our camper is 43' long. The tires did not even fit on the slap they had. The site was very small for our camper. Was not impressed with the camp site. Make sure your camper fits in the stop. Trees everywhere. Was hard to get a 43' camper out.

Randy B.

Yelp
We stayed in site 391 for the New Year weekend and it was terrible. The asphalt is busted up on the whole loop and the site was horrible. No room to deploy awning or put our rugs out. If you don't have 4x4, you won't be able to back into this site. The map shows us as the last site on the street yet there was an old abandoned 5th wheel sitting right next to us. It was creepy. Stone Mountain needs to shut down that whole section and renovate it. For the price we paid I was expecting a lot nicer accommodations. I've paid a lot less for a lot better sites that were full hook up. We will return again unless this loop is our only choice. The other sections looked nice.

Dave O.

Yelp
Camping at Stone Mountain during Covid-19 did offer a different experience than one would normally expect in some ways. The attractions were shutdown which dramatically reduced the crowds even though it was Memorial Day Weekend, it was great that there were no crowds but kind of a bummer that there wasn't much to do inside the park but camp which was fine by me, I came here to view the sights of course but didn't look forward to the amusement park atmosphere a normal non-covid camping trip would of provided here. This campground apparently sets it's overnight camping fees based on the popularity of the park not its amenities, it's seems a little expensive for the condition of the camp sites, access roads and over-all appearance. We has to be relocated several times due to poor condition of the sites we originally picked when we booked the trip. The extreme elevation issues were a little more than a challenge, it was nearly impossible to level our 38 foot motor coach even after relocating three times. The staff was very helpful and apologetic admitting they do recognize the issues and told us the park's planned renovations will address these types of issues (this would of been nice to know at the time we booked, especially since we submitted our Motorhome specifications and they matched to specific sites to our camper). Oh it wasn't all bad by any means - this campground provided a home base allowing us to explore things outside the park although the cramped site we ended up in still was disappointing but we dealt with it. The site was on the top of a hill and shady which provided some protection when the torrential rains came through one late afternoon, I think those below us may have experienced some issues with the Georgia red clay laden water streamed toward the tent sites, thankfully we didn't have to deal with that. The sections we were in was fairly quite (site 252) this trail seemed to be filled more with longer term campers and some sites almost looked like full time residential and a bit trashy honestly. Speaking of trash - the staff routinely made rounds to pick the trash which you only needed to place near the entrance of your site (the squirrels are everywhere and the have the run of the place so beware they will shred your garbage bags and strewn it's contents everywhere). The park does offer some beautiful settings for hiking along the lake and it seems everyone was out each day taking advantage of this. I don't think I'd return although it's a nice green space in close proximity to the Atlanta urban sprawl. The pricing verses amenities makes this a been there done that type of place for me...

LoukSange K.

Yelp
The primitive campsites are EXTREMELY close to each other that you can hear your neighbors' conversations, snores and rear end bodily sounds And If you're camping with family and little kids and unlucky like me, you'll smell that skunk smokie smelly all night long The quiet time is definitely not enforced. I didn't see any ranger checking the area the entire weekend we were there. However the scenery and backdrop are gorgeous. We were right on the lake with the Stone Mountain View. I just wish the owners of the campground aren't so greedy and allow such tiny spaces in between campsites. The close proximity of the sites definitely deter me and my friends from returning and it's such a shame because we so love the area.

Mike S.

Yelp
You are jam packed in here. Its a big park and they have a bunch of RVs here. Check in was easy, general store was sufficient. You have to pay $20 to drive into the park, after that you do not have to pay any more bit still, I thought that was double dipping by Stone Mountain Park. Site had a grill, firepit and a bench. Trash was picked up on schedule and WiFi is nonexistent.

Betsy K.

Yelp
I'm on a cross country road trip and Stone Mountain Campground was my first stop. After driving 10 hours I needed a place to stop, I was expecting much but I was not expecting such a great campground. I couldn't have planned for a better first stop. Not only was this my first stop but this was also my first time camping in a camper, I've always camped with a tent. The campground has wifi and they RV sites with full hookups like electricity, water, cable, sewage, and sites with only electric and water which is where I stayed. They also have tent only sites and they have Yurt rentals. Wifi? Yes Pets? Yes Full Hookup? Yes Tent only sites? Yes I was here for 4 nights and stayed in blue site 397 on Trail O Here's what I loved about the campground. It's beautiful and it's clean, clean clean, The grounds, bathrooms, showers and laundry room where very clean. Everytime I walked into the bathroom it appeared as if someone had just cleaned them and the washer was literally sparkling. There are plenty of activities like kayak and SUP rentals, there's also hiking trails. I hiked up to Stone Mountain to watch the sunset and that was the highlight of my stay ( other than clean bathrooms.) If you want to walk from the campground it's an 8mile round trip. There is however a parking lot across the way from the walkup trail and that hike is only a mile up. If you don't want to hike you can take the cable car to the top of the mountain. There are restaurants inside the park as well and they have a free laser show that might be great for families, the laser show was not my thing. If you're on their website trying to decide where to stay i'll give you a brief overview. Tent only sites: I walked by and they were all great, they all had a lake view. Blue Sites: These are for RV's of all sizes and they have back-in as well as pull through sites. These have water, electricity and wifi. They are the furthest from the entrance/ pool area so they're more quiet and peaceful. Tail O has many sites with a lake view. Some of my favorite spots: 389,391,414,415,416 ( all back-in) Red Sites: For Rv's of all sizes with pull-through and back-in sites. These have full hookups. Trail M site 341, 340 are some of the best ones if you want a view of Stone Mountain and the Lake. Lime Green Sites: For Rv's of all sizes with pull-through and back-in sites. These have full hookups. Purple Sites: These are for RV's of all sizes and they have back-in as well as pull through sites. These have a wooden decks, gas grill with propane included, full hookups. Close to the entrance and close to the pool, volleyball courts, playground and campground store. These and the orange sites would be my last pick because they are the busiest. I prefer to be as isolated as possible. Orange Sites: : These are for RV's of all sizes and they have back-in as well as pull through sites. (these sites where my least favorite) I posted a youtube video with a tour of the campground where you can get a better idea of the place.

Richard Y.

Yelp
What would it take for a campground of this quality to have quality wifi, but no. If you're lucky it won't drop you fewer than 3-4 times an hour. Well one can hope.

Brian L.

Yelp
Tree cutters woke me up at 8am, rained wood chips all over my tent and hit me with them, and got saw dust all up in my tent and eyeballs. Front office refunded $25 for this. Rangers were not rude or invasive this trip. Nice weather. Great lake and mountain views. You can come and go any time day or night.

Yelp
Review-Stone Mt Park Campground -Stone mountain, GA Firat day here First reaction descriptive words driving in: WOW, beautiful, scenic , clean -- Now this is what i consider an awesome RV resort destination. Beautiful golf course and country club as you wind your way back to the campsites. You can see stone mountain on the drive in and a beautiful lake at the base of the mountain -- don't have a trailer don't let that stop you ... they rent Yurts and Tents on a platform at the edge of the lake with a back side View of stone mountain-- first day -- first impression -Awesome In the orange section where we are located they have water, sewer, 50,30,20 amp service, cable and wifi plus a very clean bath house.

Jeff C.

Yelp
I love Stone Mountain, and the campground is very nice. Lots of loops with full hookups (not pull throughs though, at least from what I saw). Laundry and a general store were close by and overall, it's very convenient to Atlanta, and at least on certain days, there's lots to do at Stone Mountain (limited Tues-Thurs). My only beef was the wifi was fairly poor. Not that bad wifi is uncommon at RV campgrounds, but most are cheaper than this one. Upgrade the wifi, and it certainly warrants 5-stars.

Joe R.

Yelp
I write this review with confusion, as we wanted to love this place. We actually did love this place. But we also didn't. My rating is mostly based on the fact that I do not see the value for the price. If the price was lower, the rating would be higher. Higher prices typically indicate much better facilities or amenities. Amenities are ok, but not stellar. Sites are very rough. We had been eying the place for part of our family RV trip, but due to our trip not being able to line up with weekend activities, we had initially passed. Somehow, our schedule opened to allow us to bring the kids for the first weekend of Pumpkin Fest. We were lucky enough to score site 389 just a few days out. Full disclosure that we kind of winged it on the phone, but truly think we ended up with the best site in the park. Rates are definitely on the higher end for camping, as we were at about $69 per night before discounts. This landed us a site with water and electric, with no sewer. On the subjects of sites, it would be amazing if some of that money had been returned to upkeep and maintenance. The roads, beginning with the front registration, are in need of repair. The main road has been taken over by bumps from tree roots and potholes. The actual camp lettered loops are borderline third world roads. I could understand this for more of a primitive camping environment, but not for this price. Most campsites lacked a real pad (as detailed on other reviews), and pads that do exist tend to be crumbling. Fire pits are not kept up and most not even clean. This did help us with being able to gather some wood on our last day. Other than the sites not being checked or tended between stays, this issue seems to be more of a funding and less of a management issue. The other issue that we ran into was the inconsistency of information provided between the mountain and campground. It seemed like everyone else told us something different. We had even extended our stay a night into Monday so we could go up to the mountain on Sunday. About 10 minutes after the shuttle was supposed to pick us and ten others up, a lawn guy came by and folded up the schedule and laughed since there were no Sunday shuttles. We were provided three different answers on propane. The inconsistencies were too consistent. After the shuttle episode, we vented to the manager (MW), and she was quick to divert blame, but did provide compensation. As nice as it was, I would have simply preferred a ride to the mountain for my family. It would have cost them less too. On to the bright side. This site and loop were awesome. It was so quiet. Our loop did not have facilities, but did sit right on the lake with a picture view of the monadnock (since it is not a mountain). We had a rock that we could dock our inflatable raft on. The site was rough, but we fit a 30' rv and 20' tent for our two stragglers. We had one neighbor for two nights, and they were barely around. The grounds were quiet and often patrolled by the local sheriff at night, which was nice. The staff was very nice and professional. Despite the problems, we would come back to this place in a heartbeat...with different expectations. We were told that capital improvements were starting this November, hopefully. This will include paving roads and upgrading sites.

Doria C.

Yelp
Very nice place, very big. They have a lot for children inside campgrounds Also on the Stone mountain village. Laser show runs onto Oct when before it stopped around Labor day weekend. They do trash pickup, clean the grill and firepit when you arrive at your site. Nice spaces also

Sue C.

Yelp
You need to know where the good sites are located. There is an area that houses some long term sites which are less than desirable. It has clean, modern restrooms/showers, the grounds are nice and there is much to see and do in the park grounds.

Davina G.

Yelp
Beautiful campground, so much to do, lots of water, sweet staff admin. Black water dump clean and convenient. Reasonable fees. Love it.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Worst camp ground I think I have ever been to. Some broken parts on the children's play ground. The one pool they have closes at 6pm. You can not swim in the lake anywhere (you're not allowed to). They even have a beach area where you still can not swim. It's very expensive. $20 just to come in, you have to "pay for parking" even though you pay for the camp ground. Then it was $62 for ONE night, at the camp ground. So I total of $82 for one night. We paid $90 for 3 nights at ga mountain camp ground which was 100000x better...

Courtney H.

Yelp
Entry fee to the park is $20 this this entry fee if on top of your camping fee. The entrance at the front gate doesn't clearly indicate with signage that the campground is there. Driving around the park there's a one lane road and high elevation isn't ideal for pulling a camper. Park has lots of pedestrians. Bath houses were nice and clean. Recommended staying elsewhere with easier access.

John W.

Yelp
We have been coming to Stone Mountain Campground for about 10 years now. This facility is falling apart and they don't seem to care. The roads are full of potholes. The picnic tables are rotted to point of being dangerous to use. When I mentioned the general state to an employee they had no answer. The employee I spoke with said the State owns the park but a private company has taken over management. Don't think I will come back.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Pros - Lots of shade. Quiet, wooded setting very close to Atlanta. Camp store had necessities and an Icee machine. Shuttle will take you to the park area. Lots to do and see there. Cons - Many sites are not level. I had to use leveling blocks and the trailer shifted as I was unhitching despite being chocked. I walked to check other sites and it's hit or miss. The sewer hook-ups at my site were unusable. It was at the front of the back-in site and it was elevated on a cement pad. With hose supports and an extension, the water would just pool in the hose. I had to use the dump station on my way out. The cement pic nic table was broken. Someone must have hit it with their car. One side was usable.

Kendal S.

Yelp
Perfect for your camping trip to Stone Mountain. Couldn't have asked for better. Price was very reasonable. Camp site was right on the water and shady. Pool and shower houses were clean. They have a shuttle to the laser show and village. Just be sure to take an early shuttle as the closer it gets to show time the more crowded the shuttle is. Definitely a good place to stay!

Lianne S.

Yelp
We came over Halloween weekend, just after a storm where the park had a power outage. Although our reservations were confirmed for us to arrive a day earlier, we opted not to arrive until the power came back on. The staff were prompt in responding to my emails regarding timing of the power being restored. Once we arrived, it was a great experience. Staff were friendly, grounds were well kept and even though our loop had not yet been renovated, it was still in great condition . Great waterfront views - we will be back!

Janie R.

Yelp
I am very disappointed. A golf cart parade can be fun but not here! We were surrounded with horn beeping golf carts throughout the campground and the beeping was continuous and off putting. I love my camp fires. This is a noice nuisance and distracting. As far as I know, the holiday is a few days away. I would avoid camping at f you're after peace and quiet!

Alana K.

Yelp
So much to do, hikes and biking, runs or walks..Cute general store...RV sites are authentically spot on. Personnel is friendly and helpful..It would be easy to live here!

This is my first experience using a campground facility and I am happy to report, so far my experience has been a good one, especially since I am able to type out this brief review of the facility while I hangout in my tent on the first night. This campground has facilities for RV's and for individuals who want to set up a tent campsite. I'll review the tent campsite. There are two types of campsite, one with power & running water and one without. Both are close to areas were you can shower and have bathroom facilities along with areas were you can wash clothes. There is a general store, pool area, golf carts (can be used within the campground area), volleyball court and finally it is close to a lake area. Additionally, the campground also sell passes to the Stone Mountain Attractions at certain times of the year you can by two day passes for the price of one day passes! If your going to setup a tent, want to be comfortable and choose to have running water & power, I highly recommend bringing the following: Power cord (100ft), Multi outlet Power cord Cooler Ice Fire Wood lighter fire starter Tent w/stakes Mallet toilet tissue baby wipes (lots of it) bug spray blankets pillows padding flashlights For food you can always bring your cooking gear but one has the option of running to Cici's Pizza (1 mile away) or to the Evergreen Conference Center located just pass the campgrounds! There is a buffet and the coffee shop service Starbucks! Be prepared to hear lots of crickets at night and to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake!

Yelp
Stone Mountain Park is beautiful . Loved the laser show and enjoyed history! The campground provided bus transportation to the park. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful Unfortunately I did not like the campground itself. It was run down. The sites aren't level and small. The roads around the campground and the sites need repair. It was very expensive and then they charge you $20 additional dollars just to get in the park. We had no privacy at our site and when we looked around the campground to try to find a better site there weren't many at all. Really wanted to like it since the staff was so nice but I can barely give it three stars. The lake is beautiful ! Went back to Stone Mountain September 6-14 th 2019 and what a difference in campsites This time we stayed in the orange area not the red. It was more expensive but well worth it! It was level , private and clean!!! I still think paying the extra $20 is crazy and the price is high fir a campsite but at least I liked my site I would go back to that section again

Yelp
The best way to describe Stone Mountain Campground in tranquil. This is a wonderful place to kick back and relax. Located about 70 minutes outside Atlanta it is a hot spot for local campers to frequent. The campground itself is huge; they have many full and primitive sites. They also have wonderful sites located directly on the lake, those are my favorites. I find I would rather spend my day sitting in a chair looking at the lake than taking part in the activities at Stone Mountain. Comfort stations are located throughout the park and are very clean. The campground staff is very friendly. You can find boat rentals, paddle boats, canoe all within walking distance. Coffee and muffins are served on the weekends (not sure about weekdays) in the club house near registration. The views at this campground are amazing. The campground has a general store for all those things you may have forgotten to pack. There is also a pool, beware it is small and tends to get quite busy during the summer. Can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
Warning. If you email and request your site be moved it is not guaranteed. They confirmed that my site was moved but when I got there they gave me a completely different site. Couldn't give me a reason why and weren't willing to do anything about it.

Yelp
What a great campground! Staff was helpful and their summer events are endless! The fact that you're in Stone Mountain Park with tons of things to see and do is definitely a bonus! We'll be back!

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at this campground. Read some reviews about how some were disappointed about CG. We were not. We enjoyed the campground, easy in and out. Bathhouse were clean and nice. The stone mountain was very best to see. I have no complaints at all. I would like to go again next spring break.

Yelp
We have been to a lot of campgrounds. Stone Mountain is like a piece of heaven. The staff is beyond kind, generous and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and kept in pristine condition. The attractions are amazing and very family friendly. The views are stunning and awe inspiring. It is like a piece of heaven on earth! Special shout out to Theresa in the campground check in. If there are angels on earth she is the epitome of that! We can't wait to come back again next year!

Yelp
Awful campground for any larger RV. Most of the sites are so uneven that leveling is darn near impossible. I have automatic leveling and 2 of mine didn't even reach the ground. We tried 3 different spaces. Once we found one that was "suitable", it was in a more expensive area and they up-charged us. It was such a tight space that we couldn't even use our awning because we would have hit the trees. The sewer hole wasn't draining because it was filled with pebbles and the maintenance person they sent out was a camp host with no plumbing experience. I spent more time over the week we were there trying to deal with these issues than enjoying the area. On the plus side, we were there during their Christmas displays and it was beautiful. My advice is to find another campground in the area to stay and if you're interested in Stone Mountain's attractions, visit.

Yelp
Just got home from a horrible experience at the campground. We have a pop up camper and asked before we arrived if we could upgrade to a better (RV) site and were rudely told we could not since they don't allow pop ups in the RV section or sites. So we came because we had the trip planned for quite some time. Upon arrival and check in we went to our site on K loop. All sites are not level and the roads are full of potholes, boulders right at the roads edge, and very unsafe to drive on. I wasn't able to level our camper due to the topography of our site. Railroad ties are used to help with the drop off to the lake. Most of them are rotting with many sharp edges and dangerous! The trees surrounding our site were not maintained. They had many dead branches that were large enough to really hurt someone if they broke off during a storm or a wind. The drainage cement is broken, very rough to back over (we had no choice) and treacherous to get your camper onto the site. There were very few campers there during our five night stay. We would have left on our first morning, but the ridiculous cancellation policy made it we would lose our entire amount we paid to camp. The bathrooms are GROSS! There is quite the variety of spiders, flying bugs, and other insects everywhere in the bathroom. No hot water, paint peeling or gone, showers with disgusting shower curtains. We ended up going to the RV section to shower. There, they are maintained, clean, and bug free. It's very apparent they do not care about tent campers, or pop up camping people. There was police activity in the park with several police cars either searching for someone or something, We were not made aware and therefore were quite scared. I see why they require you to sign a waiver releasing them from any responsibility during your stay. The entire area we stayed in was dangerous to drive, to camp, and to hike. We will not ever go back! And I highly encourage you to find another park to camp in.

Yelp
This will be my very 1st negative review I have ever written. I have pictures to backup all my statements and I will download them. The campsites are horrible uneven ,broken up, and have severe dips. They have very little grass. My 1st spot I reserved was to 289, when it rained there was a dip Next to the spot and when you open the door there is about a 15' drop. I left that spot and moved to the only available spots where in the 400 where there is no sewer, Wi-Fi, OK however it was better than falling and breaking my leg. The 400 spots are full of potholes and uneven cracks in the asphalt and have no sewers but I made the best of what I got. The transportation to the amusements at Stone Mountain are wonderful,I must give credit where credit is due, the Duck tour was a lot of fun. The young man that drove by several times to pick up trash was very professional, pleasant and helpful . I will not be recommending this campground to anyone and I will not be back. With the money they charge, they need to put it back into fixing the campgrounds.

Yelp
Campground in need of improvements, sites & roads around the campground BAD! Friendly staff @ check-in & reservations, but not interested in a return visit.

Yelp
We initially went to Stone Mountain in April 2017, and at that time had a pretty miserable experience. We had made reservations online for two nights for primitive camping. It took us an hour to find our tent site in the dark. The map and signs to get to primitive camping were horrible. And it cost more than $100 to sleep in tent in the ground. But we chose to pay for it. What was not our choice was how cold it was, so we decided to forego the second night of camping to go back home to our warm bed. We ensured that we would have the opportunity to use our second night at a later date. The woman working in the office said all we had to do was do a "rain check." That sounded good, so skip forward several months. We called ahead of time to attempt to reserve an site, but the woman working said all we had to do was show up, and we would be taken care of. We had to pay another $15 for parking. We showed up, be patiently waited in line for 20 minutes, and the woman working in the office asked to see our "rain check" stub. What rain check stub? We weren't given one, and having never been there before, we didn't realize we needed to ask for one. Instead of viewing our previous receipt, the woman proceeded to say that "people could come in all the time and say they had a rain check." I said, "how would we know about the rain check stub if we hadn't been told about it, and how would we know to ask about it?" She said it was the policy and seemed to believe there was no way anyone else could have not followed said policy. Blank face. Very poor customer service. We decided not to pay for another night. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths. We will never be returning to Stone Mountain campgrounds again. Buyer beware, and get everything in writing.

Yelp
Upon entering campground, there were not clear signs on where to check-in. The paved roads were so faded, it was hard to see where the lines were on where to park with the camper. After check-in, we were off to our campsite. But because of the i-entrance being a two-way road on a clearly one lane space, it was hard to get the camper to the site without someone else coming the opposite way. After seeing our site and attempting to back it in, we had difficulties because of all the vehicles in the street, other peoples tents and camp supplies surrounding it. The first stop after setup was the closest bathroom. Which was terrible! The paint was peeling off the bathroom floor, which was full of toilet paper, bugs and hair. We did find that the bathrooms closer to the rv sites were a good bit nicer than the ones near the pop-up and tent sites, which i feel is biast. Needless to say, the water spray and pressure in each bathroom that we attempted was horrible! The next day, we attempted to go to the pool. But because there were 100 people at the pool and only 30 or so chairs, we were one of the many who were forced to sit on the concrete. You would think that the largest campground in georgia with 441 sites would have more than one pool! Makes no sense. There were so many kids in the pool, that no adults could even get in! And if they did, they were immediately hit with a ball in the face or a big splash! And no one was checking for pool-passes! Anyone could have been at that pool and no one would have known! No one checked campground passes on cars either, so anyone could have been at the campground and no one have known either! Or at the pool, without a pool pass! There was no 'quiet time' set through the campground, and if there was, it was not enforced. There was loud music all through the night. The sites were terrible. If there was 10 foot of space, there was a spot number on it. No privacy at all. Some tents were two feet from the road! Not safe for kids at all! No one in their right mind would choose a site that is uneven! And there were many and many of them! The gravel, instead of pavement, on each site made it more difficult to manuever the camper into it's position! The roads were terrible. There were huge roots growing throughout the roads, making large holes and it difficult to drive on, especially pulling a camper. I will not be back to this campground. It was the worst one i have ever been to, and i have been to many throughout the south for the rate we had to pay, especially for a holiday, i would have expected a lot better than what we got. I was severely let down!

Yelp
Had an amazing time, camping and making memories, with our family of 6! Will definitely come back in the future!

Yelp
Primitive tent camping was wonderful. Most state parks are pretty unkempt but this one was in great shape. I reserved spot 119 about a month prior for $26 per night for 3 nights. This was Easter weekend so it was extremely crowded and there was quite a bit of noise from late arrivals but the last night all the revelers were gone and we got to enjoy the peace and quiet we came for. Luckily, there was so much to do there that we were exhausted and fell right to sleep. The campground offers a two for the price of one deal for tickets into the attractions. We spent one day there on the ropes course, rock wall, train, and mini golf. Later that night we came back for the laser light show. The next morning we took the sky ride to the top of the mountain at 5am for an Easter sunrise service. After hiking down we went to a geology museum at the base and grabbed a shuttle to the attractions for lunch and another shuttle back to the campground. Then, on to the campground pool. Later we explored the historic village where they had an adorable petting zoo where a white goat was playfully picking fights and hiding before trying to eat our shirts. So much fun. I only held back a star because of the late comers who woke us up trying to figure out how to put up a tent and talked about it for what seemed like hours. Otherwise I don't think there could be a better campground on a lake, near a granite mountain, with clean bathrooms and hot showers, shuttles, a pavilion with an Easter egg hunt, a general store, and a table, grill, and fire ring at each primitive site.

Yelp
We camped there in May, for several days. Clean, well run, very well located. They're not the cheapest place in the area, but their prices were reasonable, the campsites are reasonably well spaced, the restroom/showerhouses spotless. And when we needed to store our camper for several days to a family emergency, they accommodated us for ten dollars a day and were very friendly. I'd go back if we camp near Atlanta. And it's reasonably close to everything in the Atlanta area.
