Stone Villa Chester

We were warmly welcomed by Amy at the front desk and shown our room. The hotel was warm, clean and very well maintained, our room was lovely and had a very comfy bed. All the staff were very polite and the breakfasts were delicious. Stone Villa is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac at Hoole, just outside Chester and very quiet at night. Hoole itself has a friendly village feel with its own shops, bars and pubs just around the corner. Chester is a 20 minute walk away which is great if you want to leave the car and enjoy all that Chester has to offer. It's fabulous and we will return.

Great friendly staff. Good clean and quiet room with a very comfortable bed. Nice size bathroom. Shower had good pressure. Easy walk into town but also to local shops that had plenty of choice for eating out. The Stone Villa breakfast was wonderful.

We have visited Stone Villa before and have never been disappointed. Our visit last week was a completely different story. First of all on booking my husband requested an indulgence package. First of all it was not in the room as requested. We flagged this up to Emmie who immediately brought Chocolates and Prosecco up to the room. What a misnomer. DairyBox chocolates are the cheapest and most disgusting “chocolates “ on the market. Full of palm oil. For £ 40.00 surely you can do better. We declined . She agreed that the quality was poor. The rooms have been upgraded since our last stay however you need a light in the wardrobe. The rooms are dimly lit and the open door blocks out any natural light .|Second day we came back to our room at 5 pm to find it freezing with no heating on. Also the bin had not been emptied . I went to reception to tell her heating was not working and she tells me it is off at the mains and that I will be glad in a couple of hours time as the room will be too hot! Her logic baffled me. It was 2 degrees outside! It was really cold in the room. Finally breakfast on our last morning was chaotic. We had to get home early because of an emergency so we had requested an 8am breakfast. Food was extremely slow to come out. No hot food was coming out at all. When I went to reception to pay and check out to save time Amy was completely frazzled. Apparently chef had left due to an emergency and she was left to cook breakfast, take payments and was unable to move her car which was blocking the whole car park as she was too busy. |By this point we were done , we asked for the two filled muffins “to go “. Payed our bill which she discounted and left when she moved her car!

Not at all fancy however great for a visit to Chester within easy walking distance of the city centre and all the attractions. Great breakfast the whole place was very clean. The staff were really friendly and all for £135 good value. Quiet location with on-site car parking great find. We’ll plan a return visit.

We stayed here three years ago, just as the hotel was changing ownership. We had a great stay and I am pleased to say that this trip was just as enjoyable.|There are so many plus points. Our room (number 6) was spacious and tastefully decorated in a quiet location at the rear of the hotel. The fridge contained fresh milk to support the excellent coffee machine (instant also available, along with biscuits tea and hot chocolate). The bathroom had good quality toiletries and a very good shower.|Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and porridge, followed by a first rate hot breakfast cooked to order, using splendid quality ingredients.|The location is also terrific. Not only is it just a short 15 minute stroll into Chester but its position in Hoole is near to a Chinese restaurant, an Italian restaurant, a tapas bar and several pubs, cafes and a fish and chip shop. Add to this free carparking and you could say the location is faultless.|But probably the icing on the cake are the friendly, helpful staff, especially Ellie, who do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. They even stored some of our purchases (it was a Christmas shopping trip) before we made our journey home. We will definitely return.

Room was mediocre. It was clean but far too hot. Had to keep the window open the entire time but the room remained warm. Removed the duvet from the duvet cover but still too warm. When the bed was made up the next day by staff they put the duvet back inside the duvet cover again, leaving us to remove it once again. Take the hint for goodness sake. Breakfast was nice but on the second day we arrived at 9 o’clock after I’d left a written note for the reception desk as there were no staff around. This hotel seems to demand what time you are going to be coming down for breakfast. Giving me a sense they don’t have enough staff to deal with the amount of tables they have in their dining room or the number of rooms in their hotel. Every other guest that arrived after us was very loudly advised the waitress/receptionist was very busy and running late and sorry for the delay etc over and over to every single guest that sat down for breakfast. I was made to feel an inconvenience and an imposition. An example of the customer not coming first and that the staff duties are more important than the pleasant experience for the guest. In my opinion this is not a five star hotel rated by booking.com. I carefully chose this hotel for its location, positive reviews for the hotel and the breakfast as I wanted a special treat for my friends. The attitude of the waitress during the second breakfast was an embarrassment and I will not be recommending nor repeating a visit to this hotel.

Just got back from an amazing weekend, we were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary.The team were brilliant.We stayed in a deluxe room ,wow!We booked six rooms in total, all the the rooms were fabulous .I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel. After a hard day's work, reaching this beautiful hotel at 9pm was an amazing sight. With it's 1950's period setting, exquisite rooms (yes they are that good) and perfect service from the staff, this hotel is my pick of the year.... actually this is my new number one hotel in the UK. Breakfast was filling and delicious, perfectly arranged on the plate, arrived promptly and courteously. Big thanks to Ellie who was on the front desk when I arrived, friendly and very helpful, a credit to the team there as this was the perfect welcome into what is the best hotel experience you'll find on these shores.
