Stonewell Cottages & Vineyards

This is our 8th visit to Hideaway Stonewell Cottages on the occasion of our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We had our honeymoon there and return every 5 years to celebrate. So we have had a long association with the cottages over an extended period of time. There have been extensions and refurbishments, but what hasn't changed is the warm hospitality from the time of booking to departure. Tina and Evan are focused on providing a truly relaxing experience and their attention to detail is evident as soon as you walk through the door. The presentation of the cottage was clean and immaculate, with particular attention given to local artisanal products for extensive breakfast provisions and other amenities throughout. The siting of the cottage adjacent to the lake / dam provides a lovely relaxing environment to enjoy a sunset drink whilst enjoying the varied ornithological visitors, or indeed at other times as well. Over a week-long stay, we visited 3 wonderful restaurants close-by for lunch, but also took the time to really enjoy what the Hideaway cottage has to offer. Let the Stonewell experience weave its magic over you. You won't be disappointed. We are already planning our next visit.

Amazing getaway with immaculate accommodation, stunning views & very generous provisions of gourmet produce & goodies. Every detail in the cottage had been thought of to make our experience memorable, even providing food to feed the ducks.

Amazing experience! Lovely room, with beautiful decor (cozy but also more modern than most traditional Barossa places, which we prefer), comfortable bed and great jacuzzi in an incredible setting overlooking the vineyards. Tina is super responsive and thinks of all the little details to pamper you and make you feel relaxed. Finally, lovely selection of food for snacks and breakfast included in the price. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at the Stonewell Cottages & Vineyards last week. It was simply amazing. We had such a good time. The peace and quiet were just what we needed. We were in Haven Cottage 2 which had a beautiful spa that was very enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable, and the food provisions were incredible, so generous and absolutely delicious! The hosts of the property were very professional and attentive. I would very highly recommend the Cottages, they are beautiful, luxurious, private and in a really lovely part of the Barossa, very central to everything. Thanks for a great holiday!

What a place. Spotlessly clean and thoughtfully set up with everything you could possibly need. The breakfast spread was a lovely touch and very tasty. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and sitting outside with a drink, feeding the ducks with the provided duck food, made for a peaceful and memorable couple’s getaway. Wines are available for purchase at a reasonable price if you are caught out, which was a helpful addition. The location is ideal, close to plenty of places to eat, explore and enjoy. We left feeling relaxed and grateful. Wish we stayed for longer.

If you’re on the fence about this property, just do it - you won’t regret it. If you like charming, clean and quiet accommodation, this is it. Lots of outdoor space to relax - BBQ worked well (we recommend the BBQ basket - we got two meals out of it). Lots of breakfast goodies - more than you’ll eat! The port and the bottle of wine were a nice touch. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom nicely appointed - fluffy white towels and bathrobes. Tina was a dream to work with - she arranged e-bikes for us (we highly recommend this as a fun activity) - and she even did pick up and drop off for us on the day we did the Hentley Farms tasting menu for lunch (see separate review on this outstanding experience). |Thank you for helping to make our time in Barossa a memorable one, Tina!

The Stonewell Cottages are in a great location. We stayed in the Haven Spa Suit for 3 nights and found the cottage cosy, comfortable and very clean. The service and communication was excellent, both in the lead up to our arrival and during our stay. We also appreciated the extra touches such as the wine, chocolate and port.

A wonderful stay. Styled beautifully yet comfortably. bed/bedding/shower/spa 10/10. Breakfast provisions plentiful & we were spoilt with some fabulous first class complementary products. Beautiful personal touches everywhere made for a memorable stay. Communication with hosts was great and we felt welcome, relaxed & at home for the entire weekend

If you're looking for a romantic getaway in the Barossa Valley, look no further because I found the perfect place. Stonewell Cottages are located very close to Tanunda in the most peaceful and serene surroundings you could possibly imagine. There are 3 different cottages, Haven Spa Retreat, Hideaway and Cupid's Cottage, all set around a lake amongst beautiful flowers, trees and vineyards. We stayed in the first one and I must say that what we experienced upon arrival was exactly what we had imagined, maybe it even exceeded our expectations a little bit. Each cottage has its own sunbeds and courtyard with a barbecue, which we unfortunately didn't use due to a lack of time. The kitchen is modern and includes heaps of useful appliances such as a dishwasher, a microwave, toaster, coffee machine, fridge with freezer and a great selection of wines that are available for purchase (very reasonable prices, ranging from $20-$35). Breakfast provisions were more than enough and included delicious jams, bacon, eggs, bread and a few other things. Plenty of attention is given to detail here and we were happy to find little things like a free bottle of wine, port, biscuits, chocolate truffles, candles, DVD's, CD's, Trivial Pursuit and a range of magazines and books spread throughout the cottage. The owners also provide you with plenty of informative brochures and maps of the Barossa so there's no need to worry about that. The lounge was very cosy, with pillows, blankets, a fireplace and a large LCD TV. One of the many highlights was the bed, we slept amazingly well in it, which also made us notice - once again - how not so nice ours is. And then there's the huge spa in a beautiful and separate room. There really isn't anything Stonewell Cottages don't have. (They even provide you with food for the rather greedy ducks on the lake) It's pricey but so worth it. You get what you pay for. The cottages are perfect, in every single way. Have a look on their website for special deals and last minute reservations. We stayed for two nights but I would recommend 3, we felt like we needed another night just to completely relax and wind down. A slice of heaven. Truly. P.S. Don't forget to use the row boats on the lake. It's utterly romantic but great fun.
