I know not everyone reads these long reviews so let me start with my main points: CREEPY, NO WIFI, EMPTY. ||||This is the creepiest place I have ever been to. We were dropped off here around 6pm and immediately concerned, there were all of these broken down cars and weird junk in the front yard, it looked like a HUGE junk yard. Even the taxi driver was concerned. It looked like the start of a horror film. It also appeared to be deserted. A quiet young man came to the cab and told us to follow him, we reluctantly did. He brought us to the "front desk" (it was just a bar) and waited there until the owner came out. She casually apologized she was not dressed to work, that was weird. Then she proceeded to yell at some kids that walked up about some delivery, right in front of us. There were all of these dogs and cats everywhere, which we were actually ok with (even though one dog tried to bite me twice), but she kept threatening to hit the dogs with sticks, that was awkward to witness. The whole intro was just very unprofessional and plain WEIRD. She then brought us to our room and we tried to be positive. The window in our room was looking at a mountain, which was beautiful, but if you looked down, it was overlooking a juvenile detention center... Dinner was weird, we had to sit at a table with the owners husband and his friend, and the ONLY other guest that was there, yes there was only 1 other person staying there. The food was pretty good. That's the only nice thing I have to say. There is NO WIFI. It only works in a 10 foot radius by the bar and she turns it off at nigh. We woke up at 5am to book a hotel somewhere else (I had to use my expensive international data because the wifi was off when I tried to walk to the bar), because we needed to leave ASAP. It all just felt wrong. I seriously cannot imagine who would enjoy staying here. The place is huge, and it looked like they tried really hard to make it cool, but just failed miserably. The pool was disgusting and we didn't dare to swim in it. When I tried to explain to Michelle we needed to leave because we didn't feel comfortable, she called me crazy and was clearly very offended and got very angry even though I tried to be nice and respectful. I understand this is her livelihood, but just politely explained this wasn't the right place for us. Oh well. I am not a person that usually leaves bad reviews, but I just had to. Not only because the place was creepy but because she handled my issue so unprofessionally.

Stony Creek "Resort" is run down and looks nothing like the photos. The owners seem to be running an animal rescue centre, with the place being overrun by 10+ smelly dogs and cats running riot around the property. The owner did not offer to help us with our luggage up the steep path despite her husband standing idly by. ||The accommodation is dark and shed-like and is located in the garden. It is not a room in a proper building. There is no air-con and the room is surrounded by metal grating which makes it feel like a prison cell. There were a lot of mosquitos here and we were bitten from head to toe. The room is not properly sealed to the environment and there is nothing to stop the mosquitos from coming straight inside. The lighting inside is terrible and the room is very dark, especially in the bathroom area. There are no internal doors for the rooms, toilet or shower. Shower curtains are the only things provided for privacy while on the toilet. The bed was covered in gecko poo and the room clearly hadn't been cleaned recently. ||The general welcome area smelt of wet dog and the floor was covered in animal hair. This place is anything but clean. There was dog mess all over the lawn and old rusty cars at the front which make it look like a scrapyard. Old tables and chairs were left around the side. It looked like a hurricane had hit the place.||We stayed here for just under 1 hour before using their wifi to find somewhere else to stay. Even though we did not stay here, the owner insisted we pay the full amount, disgraceful. I believe this place is scamming people to stay open as we can see other reviewers have had the same experience where they have left due to the poor conditions but were still forced to pay for the room.||It's a very long stretch to call this place a resort and it should not be advised as such. Don't make the same mistake we did.. don't stay here!

To be honest we didn’t expect much from Stoney Creek but it surprised us!||We love dogs so we’re happy be greeted by 5/6 furries yapping at the taxi. ||Michelle and here team were lovely. They chatted to us and made us feel welcome. ||The Bure was adequate but basic. ||The evening meal (a local chicken curry) was delicious and the price was reasonable. ||I’d recommend this place as a stopover (good base to visit the mud pool from) for Nadi Airport. |||

We saw a couple of bad reviews in here but gave it a crack... our only guess after having stayed here is that those people were slightly delusional/ precious. If you dont like dogs or are allergic to them then perhaps not for you, but aside from that. Place is a reasonable price, 10mins from the airport, and walking distance to garden of the sleeping giant, 2 mud/hotpools and a jungle zipline/hiking area. Was pretty quiet when we were there - it was great ! No sardine like crowds in Denarau. Owner Gary is a nice guy to chat to and very accommodating. You can tell the place is jas had a pile of time and money put into it, they are opening a mini golf course this year, and the common areas are all relatively new/tidy looking and geared up to provide for lots of people. Beautiful views of the mountains. Great medium size pool with mountain views. Free basic breakfast. Our room was spacious and tidy/clean. Had a minor issue with a leak and we were moved immediately to a new room. As for the "aggressive " dogs, you'd have to have never seen an excited dog in your life to think that! They come barking up to the taxi as you arrive but are 100% friendly and then just leave you to it aside from the occasional pat. My girlfriend is a vet nurse so she had a good yarn to the owners about them. They are rescues but all good tempered, neutered, healthy and in better shape than half the peoples dogs in NZ. They are also well behaved and trained so really is a credit to this place and its owners. Keen to come back in a year or so to see the new golf course etc!

I'll try to be fair in my appraisal|PROS:|1) Best of all are the views of the mountains. They really are an alternate highlight of Fiji|2) If you love having dogs, cats and frogs all around then this place is perfect|3) It's not a luxury resort like most other places in Fiji|4) The rooms are quaint and managed to keep the rain off us|5) There was a plug-in fan in the room that kept me cool at night and ensured the mozzies didn't get me|6) There were some mosquito nets in the room|7) The shower had hot water|8) You are in a remote area with nothing but local community around you. A short walk would provide some "real" Fiji as opposed to "resort" Fiji.|9) There was WiFi but the range was very small||CONS:|1) Barking dogs upon arrival isn't the best greeting|2) Dog and cat smell|3) Looks like a junkyard. Cars, furniture, rundown games area, etc. Some of the other reviews are not exaggerated.|4) Whilst the owner can be civil and nice, I certainly felt a mean, stingy streak beneath the surface. This was evident in the manner she spoke with her staff and was also confirmed by 2 taxi drivers who we spoke with.|5) I booked for 4 nights through a 3rd party online site - silly me. After 2 nights we couldn't take any more. Being at fault, I offered to pay for the full 4 nights. The owner made sure I paid for every night, every drink, and every meal (i.e. no mercy upon me and my family)|6) When it actually came time to pay and leave, the credit card machine wouldn't connect after 30 minutes of trying. I suggested that she take my card details so I could get in the waiting taxi. Untrustingly, and understandably I guess, she would not accept that. She made one of her staff squeeze into a taxi with me, my wife and 2 children so I could withdraw money from the ATM at the airport and hand the cash to the staff member. I also had to pay for the staff member's return taxi fare.|7) The pool was lined with algae growing on the bottom. Stupidly, I went in to cool off with my 2 kids upon arrival. Wisely, after feeling the slime on the bottom, we kept our heads above the surface and got out after a few minutes never to return.|8) I started to fill the spa bath in the room, but once the water was only about 2 inches deep we turned the tap off because the water was off-colour (i.e. yellowy-brown)|9) To go anywhere else for recreation or food, you have to pay for transport|10) Our room was not serviced in any way.||MY OPINION|If it wasn't for my daughter's pure joy in petting the dogs and cats, I would've given a 1 out of 5.|If you are a backpacker in your 20s and desperate then this place might be for you, but make sure you haggle and negotiate before you commit (but I'd suspect you wouldn't be treated too well afterwards).

The hosts/owners Michelle and Gary, are great folk and you really feel as if you are welcome. Not waited on by distant staff told to smile as their job but with genuine interest. Lots of dogs, as others say but all friendly and actually a symbol of how their life, and their values are interwoven through the place.

If you’re looking for a place with a heart & soul and an amazing view into the lush green mountains - you should stay here for some nights. ||Very close to Nadi Airport and yet directly within nature!||Hot spring and mud pool are not far away and definitely worth to visit.||Meals are very tasty and can be adapted to your wishes in case you have any allergies or special requests.||Michelle and her team made my stay very special and I will definitely come back.||And if you like pets - there are some lovely cats and dogs looking forward to meeting you:)

I was in Fiji five weeks and stayed at Stoney Creek. Loved this green place a lot and made it to my headquarters during my travel to other islands. Well trained stuff, very nice rooms, super food and an amazing manager. I'll always remember the International Women party we had there with chicken and red wine. Hope to see you again!
