First time today trying the Sunday carvery and unfortunately would not go back.
Starters are average at best, lots of seafood, pasta salads, scotch eggs mini tarts things like that. Where are starters like chicken wings, ribs, chicken skewers etc for those that don’t like seafood or pasta salad?
Mains were nice, although you could only have a slice from 2 of the 4 meats available. You could go up a second time if you wanted but I think if somebody wants 3 slices of meat just give it to them they have paid! There is a sign about food wastage so that’s fair enough, maybe lots of people were wasting before? Overall very nice, no other complaints, veg cooked nice and gravy was nice.
Desserts were ok, bit disappointing if I’m honest. I had the mini lemon meringue, trifle and strawberries and fudge from the chocolate fountain. Everything tasted ok but nothing special.
The service was good, our plates were cleared and everyone was polite. I was however disappointed to see £12 had just been added to my bill as a tip! Now I always leave a tip but to just add it to the bill just isn’t on in my opinion, it should be optional! Where do these tips go, who gets a share of them?
Overall wouldn’t go back overrated and overpriced!
