The Best Hotels in the United Kingdom: 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards

"Minutes from Belfast City Centre and yet adjacent to the immaculately maintained wooded landscape of the Stormont Estate, the Stormont Hotel offers both luxury urban chic and country comfort in one. The 105 bedrooms are bright and spacious, modern in décor with King Koil “cloud beds” that are as comfortable as the name suggests, and good-sized bathrooms and views encompassing the Castlereagh Hills, Stormont Parliament Buildings, and the Newtownards Peninsula. Decorated in warm colours, ESPA toiletries, deep tubs the Stormont is all about casual luxury and relaxation. You’ll often find journalists and politicians in residence due to its location but also families here to simply switch off and chill. In typical Belfast style, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and room service is 24 hours, an increasingly rare phenomenon these days. Best of all, the Stormont is the perfect base to explore the magnificent gardens, stately homes, beaches, and heritage sites of County Down." - Ramsay Short

Wow. Thank you for a very enjoyable and pleasant dinner. The service was second to none, nothing was to much trouble. The meal was superb. The sirloin was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend La Scala and their A La Carte menu is a menu of delights and sublime cuisine. Well done to Evie and colleagues, credit!!!

Stayed several times - consistently good and reliable. Excellent situation. Staff friendly and helpful throughout. Parking no problem at all. Food high quality. Wifi usually usable, if not the fastest. Comfort high on the agenda, and beds very comfortable. High recommendation!

We attended today for the Santa Carvery. The service from the staff was good and everyone was polite, plates were cleared from our table in good time and the selection of food was good. However, instead of the usual £39 for the carvery, it was £50 because it was a santa carvery. On arrival santa was sat in a chair where presumably children could see him. We had planned to take our son after dinner, however when we finished, an hour and a half later, santa was gone. We even hung about to see if hed come back but he didn't. Given that we paid extra for a santa carvery, I think it was disgraceful that he wasn't there when he finished and not once did anyone indicate to us that Santa would be leaving at a certain time. Second issue we had was when we got our bill, there was £20 added on for a tip. We generally give a tip most places we eat, but having this on the bill, added on top of a £50 charge per adult we thought was really cheeky. Especially after we realised we had paid this £50 per adult and not even got to see santa. Although there was plenty of food choices and it was all nice, we both agreed that it wasn't worth £50 per adult that we paid.

We went as a group to the Grand Buffet Carvery for one of our groups birthday. The service was first class, the food was amazing and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal from the oldest of the group down to the children. Staff were friendly and attentive. Drink service was quick. Everything was clean and the vibe of the hotel was cosy and warm. We will definitely return again.

I stayed at the Stormont hotel in Belfast for 5 nights for a work trip . It is in a lovely location opposite the Stormont parliament buildings which are definitely worth a tour and there are beautiful walks in the park. The glider bus is outside and inexpensive to get into Belfast city centre . The room was lovely spacious and the bed was so comfortable and I had the best nights sleep As I was travelling solo I ate in the hotel every evening and the food in La Scala restaurant was delicious and offfered a good choice of gluten free options. Breakfast also had gluten free oprions. It is self serve but had a variety of options continental and cooked. All of the staff at the Stormont were so friendly welcoming and helpful and I would like to say a big thank you to Philip and Thomas at reception. They answered any queries I had and helped to resolve an issue I had with taxis when travelling for work. Super customer service ! Great hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

I was one of a party of 28 visiting Northern Ireland .We stayed at the Hotel for 4 days and it was all a new experience of a positive kind. The Hotel is of 5 star quality. From the first day to the last nothing was too much trouble. Staff were very polite and accommodating. Bedrooms were large and very clean. The meals were excellent and service Even the General manager greeted us and served our evening meal. This was indeed a 5 star experience

Yelp
Have been here for numerous events. Never stayed in the bedrooms. The standard across the board is good. My rating reflects that and also the food. The food often lacks depth of flavour. They seem to go for quantity rather not than quality. I was really impressed by this spread of canapes at a charity event I was at. That and the fancy set up made everyone feel very appreciated. The staff are very helpful. The car park is a let down. Being on a hill is not good when in heels or if you are elderly or have a disability.

Yelp
I have nothing but good things to say about the Stormont Hotel - I have experienced their whole range of service, let me explain, firstly I attended a work conference, had diner at the onsite restaurant, burnt off my dinner at the gym and then stayed the night in a superior room - this was their description not mine. I would highly recommend The Stormont for any business that want host a professional event. The conference facilities are excellent, I was attending an event with Invest NI and we were treated to nothing but exceptional service from all the staff. The sweet bowls and water bottles table were kept filled at all times - it's the small things you remember and these little things could help to keep your customers happy or gain you extra orders! Having everything (Rooms, conference facilities, Restaurant, huge car park and Gym) in one place also is a huge benefit as it cuts down on the logistical nightmare for event attendees and hosts. The scenery isn't bad either - a five minute walk from Stormont Park and Parliament buildings - two great photo opportunities for visitors

Yelp
I stayed here the first week in March. The hotel was freezing. The restaurant was cold. The bar was cold. We sat at the fireplace in heavy jumpers and it was still cold. The WiFi was terrible. Barely fast enough to slowly open an email. Very disappointed. Paid four star prices for a one star service.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights as part of a vacation package. I wasn't expecting much for what we paid, however the Stormont did not disappoint. It's probably about five minutes from the center of Belfast and right behind the hotel are parliamentary buildings. The hotel has a very nice ambiance from the moment you walk through the door. The rooms and the hotel are nothing short of 4 star. The people who work there were all very nice offering to help us all the time. The room was extremely clean and nice. Our package included the breakfast which were also beyond our expectations but we came to realize later that most of the hotels have a similar breakfast setup. The bar and the restaurant in the hotel were also very good. If we were to come to Belfast again I would choose this hotel.

Yelp
My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon in Belfast (October 2016). We stayed at the Stormont Hotel while we were in Belfast. We were pleased with our stay there. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel was also very good. (Great soups!) The hotel's location wasn't that great. The hotel is right near some government buildings but it is far from everything else in Belfast.

Yelp
Decor out of the 1970s - in good condition, but it looks like a throwback. Thin walls (so you hear the adjacent room's TV). Lousy, slow, unreliable, internet. Restaurant dinner menu is old school Irish dull, and uncreatively prepared at that. You cannot walk to anything -- everything is a car/cab ride away. No gym on site, but a reciprocal arrangement with a David Lloyd gym about a 6 pound cab ride away. Nice running trails on the grounds of the Stormont Parliament building, just across the street. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
I attended The Stormont Hotel for the first time ever today for a work course which was held in the Confex Centre of the hotel. On arriving at the hotel I noticed there is a lot of construction work being carried out to the front and the drive into the carpark. I was a bit unsure as to where the entrance of the hotel actually was and had to ask a passing lady. Not a great first impression! Once through the doors though my opinion changed as I was welcomed at reception by a very pleasant young girl and guided in the direction of my function. There was coffee and tea provided in a meeting area until the room was set up. The conference room was lovely and there was water, sweets, paper and pencils(not pens, felt like I was back at primary school) provided by the Hastings Group. We broke for more coffee about an hour in and then after the event, an hour later again there was a lunch provided. Strange sandwich type things which I passed on. All in all a nice place to attend a course but not sure if I would use the facilities of this hotel for anything further even if it is owned by the Hastings Group.

Yelp
I've been here for a work conference, as a wedding as a guest, as a wedding singer and also to a formal event, and I've enjoyed every time I've spent here. Unfortunately, as a wedding venue or otherwise it doesn't really sell itself from the outside - in fact it's a bit of a 1970s throwback. But once inside, its comfortable, stylish and modern, clean and bright and has all the facilities you would need and it's very well run too. The food is good - and unlike some other hotel wedding venues, they don't throw the food at you as if you are at school dinners (hate that). And for people having their wedding here there is the grounds of Stormont across from the hotel so you wouldn't be stuck for a venue for your photographs. The staff are really nice too they couldn't be more helpful or obliging. There is plenty of car parking too. I can't vouch for the rooms, but if they are anything like the rest of the hotel, I'm sure they are great.
