Nice sea view and location, but very basic for a 4-star hotel
We stayed at Story Hotel Malmö for two nights and three days. The hotel is rated as 4-star, but the overall experience felt quite basic.
The positives:
Our room had a sea view, which was very nice, and the breakfast restaurant on the 14th floor offers a beautiful panoramic view. The design of the restaurant is modern and pleasant. The room was clean, the shower worked well, and parking was available without major issues.
Where it fell short:
The breakfast buffet was very limited, with a small and simple selection:
• Waffles only (no pancakes)
• Scrambled eggs, red beans, and Swedish meatballs
• Very few pastries and limited variety overall
There was no coffee machine available. Breakfast was limited to basic black coffee with warm milk and tea bags, which felt below expectations for a 4-star hotel.
Room experience:
Despite the sea view, the room itself felt very simple:
• The minibar/fridge was empty except for water
• Bedding and overall room presentation were minimal
• Bathroom amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand cream) were standard and basic
Overall, the room lacked the comfort, details, and atmosphere usually expected from a higher-end hotel.
Facilities and atmosphere:
There were no leisure or family facilities, such as a playroom, kids’ area, or activity spaces. Inside, much of the hotel felt more like a business or office building than a hotel designed for relaxation.
Overall:
Nice views, good location, and clean rooms — but the experience felt very basic for a 4-star hotel. With improvements to breakfast variety, coffee service, and guest facilities, the hotel could better meet expectations.
