I love Storyhouse as a customer who uses the cafe regularly (the food is delicious and staff friendly!), the library with my daughter and theatre/cinema. I also hold most of my in-person client meetings there as a wedding photographer and just a few weeks ago I had the honour of photographing the first marriage at The Storyhouse! It was incredible. They got married the cinema and had their reception upstairs in the Garret Bar and adjoining theatre. The staff were so attentive and on the ball and everything ran very smoothly on the day. They also allowed me to visit in advance to scope out the lighting and space ahead of Rebecca and Dylan's wedding day. From a photography point of view the building is very intriguing and provides so many opportunities for creative portraits, with lots of angles and natural light as well as famous quotes dotted around. Couples who opt to have their wedding at the Storyhouse can also have their names in lights above the entrance. If you're looking for a unique, non-traditional venue to host your wedding then this could be the place!

‘Storyhouse’ is the ideal name for this wonderful place where stories are told in so many different formats: books in the library; films and live-streaming of ballet and opera in the cinema; plays, music, comedy and talks in the theatres. On top of all that, there’s a good cafe, plenty of places to sit and plug in your laptop, and numerous community activities taking place there throughout the week.

I photographed a wedding at Storyhouse back in April and WOW! What a place. The staff were incredible at making Becky & John's wedding day extra special. The couple had quite an alternative day, featuring a humanist ceremony in the theatre space, stormtroopers, and a Mario Kart tournament on the big screen. They then had the party in the same room in with a live band in the evening. Everything ran smoothly, and the staff could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend this place for a non-traditional wedding celebration. The building is also an amazing community space, with theatre, library, cinema, cafe and more.... and I can't wait to come back. I also enjoyed a coffee and cake in the cafe - the vegan options were fantastic. The also got to partake in the wedding food and it was sooo good! Here are a few photo highlights of their day. Fabulosa big space. I was just visiting Chester for the day and called into the tourist info point for local info. Just asked them where the nearest public toilets were. They said the Storyhouse. Wow, a huge, really welcoming space, really nice coffee, friendly staff, cinema, theatre, and library all in one - and open until 11pm! Chester is lucky to have such a great place. Definitely pop in for lunch, a coffee, or just a read if you're visiting the city. Recommended!

Went to see Girl on the Train last evening with two friends. Play and set both excellent. Had meal and drinks in StoryHouse prior to play. Meals great and reasonably priced but cannot praise the waiting staff enough. Friendly, attentive and nothing too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended if you are going to a show. You probably should book though!

Love their atmosphere. Enjoy Christmas at Storyhouse. Cafe, library, theatre, cinema.. everything in one. If you come to Chester and look for staying a reasonable time indoor, then go to storyhouse. Kid, young adult, adult, elder, disabled are all welcome.

Inside out, the Storehouse is definitely the place that does not disappoint! Firstly, a very unique cinema. Secondly, the public library with the longest opening hours in the UK. And thirdly, modern bar & restaurant with great choice of delicious food and drinks… 🍸 🍻 Every visit adds up an extra points to our personal score for the best in town 🤩 Soon to be back!

What a fabulous theatre. We booked tickets to see Kinky Boots here and we were not disappointed. The auditorium feels really intimate and immersive, the seats are comfortable for the duration of the show. Volunteers are amazing so helpful and friendly. There's a really nice bar/ seating area here to have pre shop drinks at reasonable prices as well The show was amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed it a fantastic talented group of artists who can sing, act, play musical instruments and dance Our first time here but we will definitely be booking more shows here
