Our second experience visiting the Storyhouse, seeing the comedian Josh Jones on 19/09/25. The Storyhouse is a great venue with multiple floors, bars and a large library. Today we were in the Garret Theatre, a smaller theatre than the others but can still hold many people. There is a ok sized bar just before you enter, but the poor member of staff was on her own under a lot of pressure with a long line. There was no visibly displayed menu so she has to tell numerous people what was available. The Kitchen has lots of available seating. I ordered a hot chocolate after our show ended and the staff were nice, visibly displayed menus. Every table has a QR code to order online and then a pickup point is very clearly signed on the end of the bar. The hot chocolate was great and decently priced. Parking is available down the road at New Market.

Been my favourite place to come to for a long time, good coffee, free chargers, if you get a library card you can use their computers for free for an hour which is amazing! Also so many good books, been to a few shows there and they always blow me away, the performers are amazing. Plus so many activities and events happening all the time! Never been to one myself but i’ve heard from friends that they are really good for meeting new people and for a general good time. Highly recommend!!

I love Storyhouse as a customer who uses the cafe regularly (the food is delicious and staff friendly!), the library with my daughter and theatre/cinema. I also hold most of my in-person client meetings there as a wedding photographer and just a few weeks ago I had the honour of photographing the first marriage at The Storyhouse! It was incredible. They got married the cinema and had their reception upstairs in the Garret Bar and adjoining theatre. The staff were so attentive and on the ball and everything ran very smoothly on the day. They also allowed me to visit in advance to scope out the lighting and space ahead of Rebecca and Dylan's wedding day. From a photography point of view the building is very intriguing and provides so many opportunities for creative portraits, with lots of angles and natural light as well as famous quotes dotted around. Couples who opt to have their wedding at the Storyhouse can also have their names in lights above the entrance. If you're looking for a unique, non-traditional venue to host your wedding then this could be the place!

Went last night for the broadway rave… absolutely amazing. Staff were ace and the vibes were amazing. All the songs were ace and we could even sing using a microphone (something I didn’t do but others partook and were amazing). My friend and I will most definitely be going again! 10/10

Great venue however let down by a minority of people involved with the story house venue. First impressions where very good. We attended an external event in the theatre and I was taken back by the lovely theatre, library, kitchen and communal spaces. However, due to what appears to be a lack of signage, training and guidance a volunteer member appeared to mis-communicate their own rules and then apply them in a way we found disrespectful at best, rude and aggressive at worse. In reading other people's feedback this does appear to be a reoccuring isolated theme when issues arise however on a positive note contained to certain select individuals. When engaged I was happy with the permanent story house members of staff and found them professional, taking notes and ownership of problems when involved. In summary generally a great venue and if you are not snagged by problems or issues then I am sure like many you would be giving 5 stars however for us on our first visit this needs improvement on the points above.

I photographed a wedding at Storyhouse back in April and WOW! What a place. The staff were incredible at making Becky & John's wedding day extra special. The couple had quite an alternative day, featuring a humanist ceremony in the theatre space, stormtroopers, and a Mario Kart tournament on the big screen. They then had the party in the same room in with a live band in the evening. Everything ran smoothly, and the staff could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend this place for a non-traditional wedding celebration. The building is also an amazing community space, with theatre, library, cinema, cafe and more.... and I can't wait to come back. I also enjoyed a coffee and cake in the cafe - the vegan options were fantastic. The also got to partake in the wedding food and it was sooo good! Here are a few photo highlights of their day. My favourite place in Chester by far. Come here 4-5 times a week to read and journal and it’s a lovely atmosphere even when busy. Going to miss it when I’m in Bognor Regis ( the man in the green corduroy jacket) :))
