On the Grid : H&S Bicycles

"Finding the right bike shop when you're new to cycling can be quite the task. A shop has to have the right people and magical mojo to turn you into a lifelong patron. Family owned and operated H&S Bicycles is just that place. At first it looks like just any other bike shop, but H&S has the post sale community you don't get at other shops. Race the guys up La Tuna canyon on Sundays, or join the ladies on Tuesdays to work on your bike confidence. Pick up juniors first bike here, and Bobby gets to stick his handprints on the wall. Or if you're just looking for a place to relax after work, shoot the shit, and drink a cold one - H&S is the place." - Jennifer Beatty

Rob and his entire team are truly the best in the industry. I’ve been riding for over 20 years and have been to a lot of bike shops. Scotts really shines as the best of the best. The mechanics are knowledgeable and their craftsmanship is outstanding. I know a lot about mountain bikes and these folks are fair and take great care of my bikes with fair prices and amazing results. My bike rides like a dream every time I leave their shop.

Google
Great shop. I bought a bike from them ages ago and they were super helpful. Recently has an issue with another bike and they sorted it for me in 5 min and wouldn’t let me pay them for their time. Will have my biz from here on out.

Oz G.

Google
Kids running the shop. Asked simple questions of quality due to price differences and I got " that one is better because it is " as an answer. After that I decided thats where my journey at restoring my road bike was going to be ending. Needed a few more things but with an answer like that I no longer felt comfortable spending money there. Nice shop otherwise.

Google
Amazing shop! The employees are extremely helpful and are very genuine. They want what’s best for the customers and the way everything is run is very organized. I had an awesome experience with David!

Google
I've been out of the bike game for 16 years. I reached out to Stotts when they posted an ad on Pinkbike for the bike I was considering. Rob made me an offer that was hard to pass up. When I arrived the bike was ready to go. The sales staff was beyond helpful getting pedals installed and the suspension set for my weight. They definitely made the drive from Redlands to Burbank worth it. If you are in the market for a new ride, give these guys a shot. I will definitely consider them for future purchases.

Ryan French

Google
Great neighborhood spot, super friendly and extremely helpful. We brought our 3yr olds new bike in to get fitted to him. David was great, not only his service but his ability to communicate with my 3yr old. Super happy with our experience and look forward to purchasing our next bicycle here.

Google
very good store i have an old which i intend to purchase an old freewheel cassette remover and its no longer available and they just took the the falcon freewheel cassette using their own tools without charging thanks stotts i will be your customer from now on

Google
First time here staff and owner very nice they give me a professional service on my tandem bike I'm very happy will come back in the future

Yelp
I originally stopped in there today just to get a new tube for my daughter's bike which they had, so that was nice... but I ended up also buying new shoes and a helmet for my own bike. Everyone working there was super professional, kind, and very helpful. So thank you for that! I inherited my mom's bike who was an avid cyclist. I finally get to ride the bike my mom passed to me. Stotts employees educated me on the bike in a way to where it was easy for someone new to cycling like me understood. I definitely recommend this bike store.

Yelp
Great local bike shop. Good staff. Awesome support for cyclists. Excellent choice of cycling equipment. The location is easy to find with good parking.

Yelp
Got our helmets and bike rack here, and we're loving them so far! Superb customer service, great prices, and just a great experience all-around. Support Burbank's family-owned businesses - shop local!

Saahil A.

Yelp
They gave me some stuff, for free! Just out of the kindness of their heart. And the customer service is fantastic. Stellar people stellar shop. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Isabelle is an expert in her field. She answered all of my many (many, many, many...) questions with so much patience and without trying to upsell me on anything. Went in just to price compare for cycling shoes but left with new shoes, pedals, and tools in tow. She even showed me how to install the pedals myself! I couldn't be more pleased. High quality, well-priced, awesome people. Thanks Stotts!

Yelp
Credit will be given where it is due. These guys more than deserve it. I just got a road bike and wanted to upgrade it to Shimano 105 r7000. Even though I am somewhat experienced in cycling, I do not know how to wire up components and make a bicycle tuneup. Before I brought my bike to have it fully repaired, I bought several parts from them, like a DT-Swiss R460 Wheel that came with a Shimano 105 axle and free hub, as well as combo levers, and brakes. When I brought the bike with everything attached for them to wire it up, as well as install a front derailleur, front crankset, chain, and some bar tape, they replied promptly, put a work order in, and the bike was ready to pick up the next day. Aside from that, all of the staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and diligent. In particular, the two guys who helped me, Mike and Chase at Stotts Bikes, were extremely helpful and very friendly. The value for money is definitely there, and if you give them business, you're helping out the economy, as well as supporting a small business. If the price difference between them and a vendor like Amazon is relatively small, give them the business. These guys deserve it.

Yelp
Friendly, helpful people with a good selection for whatever you need. I bought a floor pump there and with my tires flat from sitting too long,. They showed me how to use the pump to affix the pump head exactly to the valve and then filled the tires up quickly with their air machine for free.

Bryan J.

Yelp
Class act. Thanks for fixing my beach cruiser Howard and David. These guys took my bike and fixed it up not just better than new, the reinforced it and made it better!! Thanks guys

Rebekah W.

Yelp
I've taken my bike here for repairs twice now and both times got fast friendly service. My bike was fixed up nice at a decent price and they gave me advice on how to keep it in good condition too. I highly recommend this shop!

Abby T.

Yelp
Went in to make an expensive purchase and didn't feel like the staff was willing to help.
google avatar

Dave J.

Yelp
I broke the chain off my bike on a ride. Thankfully, Stotts was around the corner and they were able to fix me up and put me back on the road within 30 minutes. Thanks!

Yelp
These guys did a great job assembling a few bikes for us amazing craftsmanship easy to work with and best of all no BS :-)

Andrea O.

Yelp
Came in today to "just browse" and ended up leaving with 2 bikes within 20 minutes. What made us quick to go into buying when we really only had intentions of looking around was Rob's expertise on his bikes. Answered all our questions and was working to find the right fit not just trying to upsell us. Great inventory, GREAT SERVICE! Highly recommend coming here!

John L.

Yelp
I went in Sunday (9/3/23) at noon to buy a bike rack. There were three young men presumably working there at that time. None of them asked if I needed help. I probably spent 5-10 minutes looking over the inventory. No one asked if I needed help, or even acknowledged my presence, even though they were not more the 5-10 feet away from where I was standing. One was looking at his phone, they others were just chatting. How is service this bad tolerated by the management/owner? Either the kids are incredibly stupid, or they haven't been told to acknowledge and assist people who come into the store. What do they think they're there for? Ponderous. Although I found a bike rack that that I liked, I left without buying anything and got one at Target.
google avatar

Yelp
Went in to get some new tires and a brake adjustment. The quote was way high compared to some other shops I've been to. I didn't argue it, as they are allowed to price their services however they'd like. The thing that got me was when I was told I'd be better off just buying a NEW BIKE lol. Because of new tires? What? I was so dumbfounded, but didn't make a fuss and left laughing to myself. Hahaha wild.
google avatar

Yelp
I came in on Father's Day to air up my tires and buy a pump, and left with a far superior brand new bike, new lock, and never looked back. In fact I liked my bike and experience so much, I convinced my fiance he also needed a bike, so now we are bike people. The owner went above and beyond to help me find the right bike, when I wasn't sold on the color options available for the bike I wanted, he found a box in the back, assembled it on the spot for me to test out, and I basically couldn't say no. Even though I felt like a really difficult customer taking up so much of his time, I truly appreciated the extra care he took. Needless to say, I don't need to go air up my tires anymore, and that old flat tire bike is history. (Sort of, it's still in storage.)

Yelp
Just wanted to say thanks to Trace and Rob I came in for a quick cassette swap on my roadie ! Was in and out in a matter of minutes. If you're looking for quality bike shop for an effective price. This is the place to come too! They have some community rides they host during the week too! Check them out you won't regret it
google avatar

Gino G.

Yelp
Took a used bike we purchased online to get a tune up. There were a lot of issues with the bike but Stotts Bicycles fixed all of the issues at a very affordable rate! They charged us 50-70% lower than what they originally quoted us. And the bike is performing without any issues. Thank you Stotts!
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
I'm so grateful that Stotts is here! The service is always fast and friendly. Next time I'm making a bike purchase this will be my first stop.

Marlon J.

Yelp
Quick, easy and reasonably priced tubeless install on my road bike. Done in 20mins. Thank you!
google avatar

Sam N.

Yelp
We came without even knowing anything about this place, my brother wanted to buy a bike but was a bit skeptical about choosing the right place. We decided to stop buy and check it out, but just by having Rob helping and giving the best customer service it made us want it to buy right away. Thank you for making us feel very welcome to your business and being very helpful!!!!

Michael M.

Yelp
My daughter needed some parts for her aging bicycle she wanted to take to college. I searched high and low for fenders and a chain cover that would fit her bike. Sure, I could have ordered something from Amazon and hoped it would fit, but I like to give my money to vendors in my neighborhood. This keeps the money local and doesn't fill some corporate giant's pocketbook. So, what to do? Well, after an exhaustive day's research around town I landed on Stotts Bicycles. Rob, the owner, was very attentive and found me the parts I needed. He saved the day and I'm very grateful. My daughter is happy her bike looks so good.
google avatar

Narbeh S.

Yelp
Stotts is the only place to visit when you're searching for the best selection of bikes with the best customer service in town. Rob is super knowledgeable and spends time to ensure his clients buy the right bike and are properly setup before they leave his shop. I got my yeti sb130 here and visit frequently for accessories and upgrades. He's never let me down with his experience and expertise. Best of all, he treats everyone like family. He's got what you are looking for when others have low inventory and no stock. Stotts is the bomb!

Ryan H.

Yelp
Quick and inexpensive. Was able to walk in, get my tires fixed, and walk out in less than 30 minutes. Staff seem knowledgeable and it's a very clean shop. Hard to beat the connivence.

Karina H.

Yelp
Thanks Ivan who helped me with a bike purchase and was super patient w me. Their customer service is bomb!! They let me test ride a couple of bikes and I didn't have to wait days to assemble or disassemble. Hassle free. Happy rider. Also thanks to Howard for putting my pedals together and tuning the bike before I took it off the store
google avatar

Marsha R.

Yelp
What more thanks can you give to a place where, at 11-ish this morning, I was trying to push my Rad power bike through the front door when someone rushed up to help me with the door so I could get my beast inside... and then they fixed my brakes, no charge? This is not the first time these guys have been literal angels on earth. I pretty much stay in Burbank and my bike is pretty much the way I get around, so it's pretty important to me. This is not the first time they've been amazing. I have gotten my bike tires filled with air (not the amazing part), when they've actually taken the time to tweak a few things (the amazing part) that they've seen were askew, and I've certainly been a loyal customer whenever I need a bike tire patched (totally fair price!). So, if they can meet your needs, they will always meet you MORE than halfway.

Yelp
(I highly recommend this shop. Excellent service and fast.) I love this shop. I had a flat and also I needed to replace both tires. Called many places, non could fix my bike the same day. They wanted me to leave my bike and pick it up a week later. Some places ask me to bring it back a few days later. I work 5 days a week at a Pharmacy. It's not convenient for me to go back and forth. And I found Stotts Bicycles online. Call them, they told me to come in and they will fix it. As soon as I got there, there were other customers inside. They still took my bike, waited for 15 mins. (DONE) Went back another time to replace the tape on my road bike handlebar. Again, they were kinda busy and still work on my bike. I give this place 6 stars.
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
That was fast! Thank you so much for replacing the shift cable on my bike today! I'll definitely be back for more bike services and to buy some stuff! Great shop! Great people!
google avatar

Le T.

Yelp
Did a poor job replacing all cables on my Brompton (I shouldn't take it there in the first place). Had to take it to another place to get it fixed. Lost my trust!

Mark A.

Yelp
Apparently, my cheap bike is the most coveted by thieves in Burbank. I started coming to Stott's about 3 months ago because thieves are constantly picking apart my bike every time I park it in public. I don't know any of the staff's names yet but they've been absolutely helpful to me and are so chill. I'm not gonna go into detail as to how they've helped me, because I don't want to set the bar too high for those of you who might be potential customers for them; but baby, they really know how to treat a guy. Makes me want to leave my bike wheel unchained again, so that I can visit Stotts with all of my problems. 5 Stars.
google avatar

Andre H.

Yelp
I was all but certain that the bottom bracket cartridge on my 9-year-old 7-speed Electra was on the fritz. So, I ran it on over to Stotts, where they quickly discovered that my chain had stretched a bit and was somewhat under-lubricated. Fifteen minutes later, I had a new, expertly installed chain and was on my "smooth and quiet" way. The service was great and the price seemed reasonable; this was my first chain replacement, and my extra large frame required two chains to be linked together.
google avatar

Charlie B.

Yelp
Great customer service. They carry Transition, Pivot, Ibis and Norco bikes for those interested in mountain biking. I'm lucky to have a local shop of this quality.

Andy L.

Yelp
Terrible shop! Avoid at all cost! The sales guy was very nice and Knowledgeable! I went in and chose a bike, they told me that if I can pay cash they are willing to give me the discount! I returned the second day with cash, apparently the boss changed his mind! What waste of my time! They should honor what they said. since I need all the accessories such as helmet, locks, bottle holders etc I offered them an alternative, if they could give me a 5-10% discount on the accessories, I am willing to pay for the full price of the bike, they simply refused! I am a big supporter of local small business. However, business like this simply cannot keep up with online bike shops or big bike shops to offer competitive prices! If they are unwilling to be flexible and change their business model, they will eventually lead to their own self distraction! PS. Went to another shop in Burbank, extremely nice people!
google avatar

Oliver B.

Yelp
I've been coming to Stotts bikes for over 10 years and have never had anything but a pleasant experience. I've purchased three bikes from Rob knowing with confidence that he's not trying to make a quick buck off of me but rather make sure I'm happy with my choice and that he's selling me a quality product. Whenever I've had issues with anything these guys have always taken care of it right away and made sure my bike is safe and well tuned for the trails or roads. I highly recommend Stotts Bikes if you are looking for a mom and pop type of shop that know their products well and stand for what they sell.
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
Went in for advice and new tires and came out with a new better bike! Rob was very upfront and real and gave me his expert opinion. I was using the wrong bike for what I needed and he let me know right away. Ended up buying something for my size (5'3") and ability (electric). I'm so grateful for his honest opinion that I am now a very happy owner. Thank you! I'm so happy with my purchase that I'm now biking more than what I planned on and could not be more content. I love my bike! I show it off like a puppy to my Co workers and friends.

Hope I.

Yelp
This store has a fair selection of great looking bikes! I went there to look for a bike and they had some really nice high-end bikes. When I make a decision on the exact bike I want, I will definitely return to check out their selection again. Thanks guys!
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
These guys are the best! Accommodating, quick service, sense of humor. This is my ONLY go to bike shop here In Burbank. Heck, if I lived 3 cities over, I would still go. Thanks guys for the great customer service! I recommend Yelpers to check out Stotts! Best bike store in Burbank. Get out there and bike!
google avatar

Hugo A.

Yelp
So much to say about this place. I brought my old bike here a couple of times for tune ups and always drooled over their inventory of new road and mountain bikes. In March I went for it and bought a beautiful Cannondale Synapse. Little did I know I'd be riding with a cool group of people on Sundays that leaves from the store or that I'd be using my new bike for the Nautica triathlon. I've taken my bike a couple of times for a quick adjustment and to make sure it's ready for the race. Rob and his crew have always delivered great service, no B.S, just straight talk which a appreciate. It's a no brainer to buy my next bike here!!

Camille S.

Yelp
What can be said about Stott's besides that it is the best bike shop I've ever been to. What started out as a random, casual weekend afternoon browse turned into my boyfriend and I spending, on average, 1-2 hours/week at the shop (mostly chatting, sometimes handling bike business), buying two new bikes, becoming genuine friends with Rob the owner, and joining an awesome community of cyclists with whom we now ride several times a month. This place has great bikes, incredible service, knowledge to spare, and it genuinely is a great place to hang (I seem to always find reasons to go back and test ride/buy/tune-up something). Above all, Rob is truly a pillar in the LA cycling community. He is such a homie, has taken the time (over a month) to help me and my bf find the right bikes for us, without any pressure as he understands a new bike is a big (read: expensive) endeavor. He gave us great deals and worked with the brand reps to help us get on our dream bikes. He also invites us to ride every week with him. If you're on the lookout for a new bike or just a friendly chat (accompanied by a cute shop dog) stop by Stott's. It'll be the last bike shop you ever go to.

Marty F.

Yelp
Superb customer service! They made sure my kid's bikes were safe and aligned after buying them and added the training wheels. I felt safe afterwards. Fast forward a year and now no more training wheels necessary and taken off no problem. So friendly and kind. Super knowledgeable.
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
Rob was amazing to work with. He helped me find a Cannondale Super Six when stock across the country was super limited. Shops near where I live seemed to busy to look into it for me, but Rob jumped on it right away. A short time later, I was picking up my dream bike. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and with the service I received. Even though I'm 40 minutes away, Stott's will now by the only shop I go to.

Kacey H.

Yelp
Rob is the man, and his shop is a beacon of light to cyclists everywhere! In all seriousness, Rob goes above and beyond the call of duty anytime there is a situation with a bike involved - he is always there with a helping hand and a wealth of knowledge to offer. He has helped me a number of times, even when I haven't asked because he's just that type of guy. Before I started really getting into riding, I asked around for the best bike shops in LA and Stotts cycles came up in every conversation, and now I understand why. If you're a new cyclist looking for your first bike, or an experienced pro looking for a new LBS (local bike shop), look no further - Rob and his team have got you covered.
google avatar

Emilio P.

Yelp
Couldn't recommend these guys enough to other cyclists. After crashing my bike, Rob and his guys were able to give it a once over to make sure it was still safe for me to ride. At a time when bike shops are backed up, for them to take a small portion of their day to help me, meant a lot. I've since been back to ask questions and purchase different accessories which they've always been very helpful about.
google avatar

Janeen H.

Yelp
A great experience buying a bike. Great people and extremely helpful. I find their prices very reasonable. This is the place to buy a bike! My daughter got a limited edition cruiser type bike in bright yellow. It is so cool!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Support your local bike shops they say and quite happy Stotts happens to be my local shop! Had to get a GX Eagle drivetrain installed on my Santa Cruz Hightower and they said it would take about a week since they're busy to the brim during the pandemic. The next day they called and said my bike was ready. They do solid work and know deal with the high end bikes so don't hesitate to bring yours in!

John S.

Yelp
Paid $180 to have my bike tuned up. After putting on new tires, I noticed that the bike dragged and there was a lot of resistance coming from the new tires slowing the bike down. Come to find out, they installed mountain bike trail tires instead of road tires!!! When I went back to ask about it, the owner said they were not inflated enough and just needed air. Of course, that did not fix the problem so I didn't ride the bike for a few months. When I did finally make it back to the shop and told them that they sold me the wrong set of tires, they seemed indifferent about it and would not correct their mistake. Such bad business practice and I'm never going there again.
google avatar

Luke B.

Yelp
To be completely honest I wouldn't go to any other bike store in all of Los Angeles. The owner Rob is a gent when it comes to being real about bikes. They went above and beyond with picking a couple bikes for my family. I'm bi-costal so the quick turn around for shipping the bikes to my out of state house was awesome. The store is feels like a really cool place and when you are looking for something you feel like you are getting something worth it VS someone just trying to sell you the most expensive bike or whatever's left. Like I said I wouldn't go anywhere else!
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
I never write reviews..but felt compelled to in this case based on my recent experience... support this shop. Rob the owner takes good care of his customers and will not nickel and dime you on stuff, like some of the more commercial bike shops (to be kept nameless). Some of the bigger shops have a business model... which is on service, they will look to replace something that may not necessarily need replacing....They are out for $$$ only, no matter what. There is another way...Treat your customers correctly and they will return and repay you with loyalty....This guy gets my business...And it is local and down to earth. Support your small businesses.

Yelp
I liked the place very much at 1st. My original salesman (who I think said he was a part time fireman) was great, very down to earth, and no pressure. I put a down payment on a hybrid bike I liked but I had leave for work so i'd have to come back later to complete the purchase. No problem. When I returned returned he was off that day, so I began working with the owner who was cool enough, but when I inquired about purchasing a larger thicker cushioned seat, he dismissed the idea and to just try the bike with the original thinner seat 1st, then decide. Now if I hadn't known my own anatomy (including my derriere), I might have been fine with following his suggestion. I informed him that I knew how long my rumpus would last on a thin lined smaller seat and that I knew a larger thicker seat would be better for me. I understood that I would have to pay for the larger seat. He firmly stated again that I try the original seat first. He also said he only had the display model available. Because I felt he was kinda arguing with me and because I really didn't want to buy a floor model, I told him I'd come back later to complete the sale with my original salesman. When I called back to inquire more about the bike and to confirm the store still had my deposit (it did), the owner told me he didn't have that particular bike in stock and that they were very limited in stock due to the covid pandemic. That was last March. Side note: First thing I learned when I worked in retail eons ago was 'you never argue with the customer', and that moto has stuck with me ever since. I'm looking to finally buy my bike but I find myself a little hesitant following thru with purchasing it at this establishment. The owner was just a little too dismissive of my specific needs. However, that was then and it is now! ! I'm still looking to buy my bike from them, but now it feels like I'm starting over from scratch. Will update.
