Strahan Backpackers

The sleeping units are basic but fine and clean enough. Toilet & shower block all rotting wood, kitchen was run down but clean enough - apart from the fridges where we chose not to leave our food. We just wanted a bed and clean sheets for the night and that’s what we got at an OK (not bargain) price, so it did the job.

Unfortunately the place has become very run down. Rooms are rough, you can hear everything said in the next room. Shared bathroom facilities are nice. It's now managed as a part of the Big 4 next door and feels like it's forgotten about.

Beautiful location with wonderful homely feel. Rooms and bathrooms are immaculately clean and well cared for. Communal kitchen / lounge has excellent facilities. The manager "Bumpy" is warm, friendly, welcoming and creates a lovely environment for guests. Thank you, highly recommend to all travellers 🙂

Cheapest accommodation for the town ... I just don't get why this place is a holiday destination, given its relatively remote location (it's not on the way to anywhere else). You can see everything this town has to offer inside of 24hrs IMO.

We stayed 2 nights in tents here and found the place awesome. The facilities are top notch and price very fair. 4 tents was $40 night, only $10 each. Jeff the caretaker was so accommodating and checked on us to see if we needed anything regularly. I can recommend this place for sure.

The staff there are so friendly. Jeff was always there if we need help. He also told us the spot to view platypus. Also, it is the cleanest the backpackers’ stay I’ve ever been. I think it is cleaner than some of the expensive hotels that I booked in the fast. Their public facilities (toilets/showering area/micro wave) are surprisingly clean as well! Thanks Team!

I have done a lot of hostels, campings, motels, etc. This place is the BEST, nothing less. The owner Bumpy welcomes you in his "home" in the best way possible, with humor and kindness. He upgraded me without me asking, just because. He understands what it means to travel backpacking. He made me feel welcome. Room, toilets, showers, kitchen...everything was super clean. The bed was comfy with 2 blankets to keep me warm and clean sheets. I wish I could have stayed a few more nights! I highly recommand this place.

Excellent place and location. Rooms were clean and tidy. Highly recommend. Bumpy - You were amazing. Thanks for being generous and really appreciate your kind hospitality and support even though the situation was tough for us.
