This is a unique brewery located next to a monastery. You can find unfiltered beer. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for enjoying a drink and a meal. The ribs were especially delicious! The prices were also very reasonable, which made it even better. (Beer looks bit empty, it’s because I couldn’t wait to sip as soon as I received 😋)

Google
I ordered the dark lager beef goulash and it was truly delicious. I had previously ordered another dish, but I changed my mind, and they updated the order without any problem. For dessert, I ordered the beer ice cream, which I also really liked. The waitress was very patient and friendly. However, the only minor issue was that she switched beers and didn't serve them according to who ordered them. We realized this at the end because she told us who got what. It wasn't a big deal for us, since we don't know much about beer, and we enjoyed it anyway. The place is quite big, has a terrace and tables inside.

Google
This place is great! It's inside the monastery and has good seating both inside and outside so you can enjoy the atmosphere. They have an excellent range of beers - the IPA and the NEIPA are standouts. We had some snacks and really enjoyed the cheese mousse - I recommend it.

Saskia Ahaaha

Google
Excellent choice for our first stop of the day. Sweet service, relaxed atmosphere. Decent prices, beer too tasty to not take a second one, and the food a savory dream. We had the cheese mousse and the ribs and will make sure to come back soon for more.

Google
We went there after visiting Prague Castle and, unfortunately, without a reservation, so overall we waited for an hour to sit (we waited to sit inside, maybe the waiting line for outside is a little shorter, but I don't think so). The interior is very interesting, and there was also a socket near our table to charge our phones, which is cool. The food was decent, and the beers were too. I had chicken meat with mashed potatoes, which was ok. The service was very good, keeping in mind that they have a lot of guests!

Google
This peacefully set brewery bar is located close to the more frenetic area around Prague Castle and the St Vitus Cathedral enclosed within it. The Red Summer Ale is especially good, crisp and malty with lots of flavour. The food is excellent and the staff extremely pleasant, welcoming and professional.

Milena Videnova

Google
The food in the Bistro was more than delicious. The ribs are divine, the goulash is not a soup but a proper meal. We ordered the beer cheese which was very interesting as the texture and taste - creamy a bit spicy. 🍻 The beer had 5 different tastes we have tried 4 of them and they were tasty and unique. The staff is very helpful, fast and professional You can pay by card and split the bill which might be in favor of some companies.

Google
The chicken schnitzel and beef goulash were really good—you should definitely try them. Just make sure to ask for the beef to be cooked well. The first time I tried it, the meat was very shredded, and the second time it was quite tough, making it hard to swallow. The cucumber salad served alongside the schnitzel was amazing. All the beers they serve are craft beers, and they were all really enjoyable. If you visit Prague, make sure to stop by this place—you definitely won’t regret it. Make a reservation, because you might not find a spot otherwise

Yelp
1400 on a Thursday in December and the bar is full with a line waiting. Step just meters away and you can go in the restaurant side with traditional family style seating. Long beer garden tables, where you will likely eat with people you didn't know prior to arrival. But greeted and sat immediately, none the less. Everything on the menu sounds great. So deciding was the hardest part. We went with dark beer marinated chicken and hubs for beef sirloin with cream sauce and cranberries. The beers, we chose a lager and Christmas dopplebock.

Yelp
Great find ... a brewery at a monastery. Came here based on the reviews and because I wanted to try the local pork knuckle. Food:3 stars The Pork knuckle is big enough to feed 2. I think it could have been cooked with a lot more crisp but over all a solid 3.5 for bar food quality. The salad ... it's bar food salad quality and it didn't look that appetizing, but the chicken slices were interesting. It's a pub so they had a great beer selection after all Czech Republic is known for their beers. The Service was a 5 we arrived pretty late and they kitchen stayed open for us and everyone was very friendly.

Yelp
Got to hotel late and walked over here to grab a bite. Short walk. Cobblestone streets. Long wooden tables with benches. Door open to outside for fresh air. Wonderful service. Ordered the pork knuckle, 1 kg, served with bread, pickled onions and pickles, tasty horseradish, and 2 kinds of mustard. Decided we should split one meal between the two of us. So delicious but we could not finish the entire meal. Also had two excellent beers (I had the dark beer) and one order of apple strudel for dessert. I would definitely return to this restaurant!

Yelp
Such great food that we came twice during our trip! I would say that the pork knuckle is a must try. We had ours cooked extra crispy and the skin tasted amazing. The beer onion soup was also very soothing because of the cold weather outside and very flavorful. There was not a single dish we tried that we didn't like. we ordered around 3 dishes and two appetizers for a family of 5 and shared-- it was plenty for us. Beer was also A+!

Yelp
Amazing experience!! We visited on a Study Abroad trip Oklahoma, U.S.A. and this was our first introduction to Czech cuisine. The food was so delicious and the people were very friendly and welcoming! They accommodated our large group and did so in a great way. I highly recommend giving this place a visit!!

Yelp
Fun cool brewery walking distance from the Petrin! Great selection of beer and food. We had the sausage, cheese and pickles sampler and the goulash main dish.

Yelp
Great craft microbrewery with outdoor and indoor tables and food within the monastery above Prague castle. Had their amber and weizen and bother were very good. Had a nice charcuterie appet of ham, prosciutto, beef, cheese, gherkins, sundried tomatoes and roasted onions with bread. Good service, quick and friendly even when they got busy.

Yelp
Came here as recommended by a local. The beer is great and they offer seasonal options and recommended pairings with food. There is limited seating.. but inside and outside are both options. I believe they do take reservations as there were quite a few reservation cards on tables. I had the svickova. The sauce was fantastic and almost reminded me of a pumpkin soup. The beef, however, was rather dry despite all the sauce.. it could not be saved.. one reason for the 3 stars. The goulash was very good with lots of beef and potatoes. My other reason for 3 stars is that as I was receiving the bill.. the person who delivered my receipt (I dont know if I can even actually call them a waiter., because it's a gastropub so just one persons takes your order and then another delivers your food.. no one actually checks in on you) .. anyways this man actually creepily whispered that "service was not included." It was very rude in my opinion.. and was not appreciated.

Yelp
This is only a review of the beer as we went mid afternoon and weren't hungry. The food did look quite good though. You'll have four beer options when you go: an IPA, an Amber (semi-dark), and a dark lager. Their dark lager has won the most awards but believe it's the Amber that actually gets produced in the largest volume. There'll also be a seasonal beer which for us was the Easter beer. My wife and I tried three but skipped the IPA. The Amber was probably my favourite though the dark lager was the most interesting. The dark lager was almost like a porter, there was a bit of smokiness almost. Hoosier than you would think for a lager, especially a dark beer. The Amber was my favourite. Not very hoppy, smoother. But the beers are cheap so try a few! Well worth the hike up to the monastery

Yelp
We just had drinks. The homemade lemonade was just the right sweetness--not too sweet--and tasted very fresh. The Polotmave and Cherry Sour Ale were also very refreshing and unique beers.

Susan C.

Yelp
You will find exactly what you want here. The service is quick and always with a smile. We ate here several times because there is no other place in the neighborhood who comes close to their food and beer choices and service. They try their best to accommodate your request for outside or inside and they do take reservations.

Yelp
I am going to start off by saying I highly recommend this place! If you want authentic Czech cuisine, this place does it right. I found out about this place on Yelp, and it did not let us down. This place is an outdoor beer hall with a good selection of local beers and food. The weather was nice that day, so we can sit outside. We care around 11:30am, which was right before the lunch rush. We tried an appetizer, potato dumplings, and ribs. I am a fan of IPA so I tried their local IPA and it was so good! When you are in Prague, you must visit the tower and the castle! I recommend going to the tower first, then it's a 10 minute walk to this restaurant. After coming here, it's another 10 minute walk to Prague castle.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Love their beers! Especially the IPA. Probably one of the best IPAs I had in another country. Not a fan of the pig knuckle... it was really bland and not crunchy like the first knuckle we had... severely disappointed. On the other hand the beef tartare was awesome. Fresh with an egg yoke, enough for 2 people. Extremely busy... service was hard to come by, but once they know that you order beer and food they'll come around more often. Great place to stop and grab drinks and an afternoon snack.

Yelp
This restaurant has a great beer and good food! This is brewery/restaurant located at the monastery. During my trip, I planned a stop at the Petrin Tower and the Prague Castle and found this restaurant to be half way between these 2 points of attraction. This place serves traditional Czech cuisine. I ordered the sausages, pork ribs and a side of dumplings. This is probably the best meal I have had in Czech. Personally, I am not a huge fan of Czech cuisine, probably due to the heavy emphasis on meats and carbs as a part of this cuisine. However, I was satisfied with with this meal. The pork ribs were like BBQ baby back ribs. It came with a few sauces and pickled veggies. They were tender and flavorful. The sausages were pretty tasty and the dumplings were interesting. It was my first time trying the dumplings. They had 3 different kinds. One had more potato to flour ratio, which reminded me of a gnocchi, there were others that had more starch and had a bready texture. It went well with the ribs and sausages. If anyone is planning the same trip for the day, I highly recommend making a pit stop here for lunch and beer! The portion is great and the price is super reasonable!

Yelp
Brewery and restaurant. Great atmosphere and we loved the food. I had a salad with beef brisket and my wife chicken supreme With roast pepper sauce and potato gnocchi.
google avatar

Yelp
This is your spot for traditional Czech food and it os also a microbrewery, need I say more. My favorite dish was the pork knuckle, the serving size is huge (big appetite is needed) but you must have this. Get yourself an ice cold tall one and enjoy.

Yelp
Ducked in just in the nick of time before the place got slamming on a weekday! It had just stopped raining and there was limited indoor seating. We were lucky enough to score a 2-top but several groups of 2-3 ended up sharing a 6-top table as a sort of communal table area. There was a variety of beers to choose from; the 2 we tried were both good. To eat we had the goulash and an onion soup; the onion soup was good but do note it is not at all like a "French" onion soup. The goulash was hearty and flavorful on a cold and rainy day. Servers seemed stressed but the place was packed and turnover was fast. They were efficient and helpful and despite a crowded restaurant did not seem to rush patrons out of there. Would recommend

Yelp
The pork hock was amazing! Cooked go perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It's also a huge portion, I could only ate half, wish I could finish the whole thing. The mustard (3 types) came with it also tasted very good, compliment with the pork hock perfectly. The bohemian style bread was good but a little heavy as it's all fried. All other food looks amazing in this place as well! The waiters put less amount on the bill and asked us to pay in cash, huh!
google avatar

Ann G.

Yelp
So we came down after a visit to Prague Castle and were pleasantly surprised by this brewery. Not only was it gorgeous, but it had a fantastic history and great beers to boot. There is so much history here. All I can say is that if and when you're in Praha, please visit and enjoy some drinks!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Good, but while on this side of the river I would have preferred to dine at Lokál (similar food but much better value). For example, the rabbit was pretty dry, and the beers were among the most expensive we had in the country - tasty, yes, but not worth paying twice as much for as anywhere else.
google avatar

L L.

Yelp
An excellent Czech brewery with great food. We loved both their dark lager beers which had smooth finishes. I loved the beer onion soup with cheese toast. The delicious sausages in a lightly sweet dark beer sauce were cooked with onions. The brewery goulash entree had Czech dumplings and was enjoyable. Service was very good. The brewery has outdoors seating and indoors seating across from the patio seating area where the restaurant name was listed as SV Norbert on the door, but it is the same brewery.
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Great place to grab a beer! The Christmas ale is amazing. We have been here twice to grab a beer on our trip. My husband has been here to eat and he said it was very good. I would recommend coming here and try and get a reservation.
google avatar

Kiki K.

Yelp
A little hard to find once you walk up the hill. But keep walking it is opposite of the large white monastery. Solid beer offerings after the hike up the hill. We tried the dark, regular lager and the hazy ipa. All good. The bartender was a little snooty and more interested in talking to his lady friend than into serving us.

Yelp
You MUST COME HERE!! This place is an awesome little hole in the wall! Best bang for your buck place out there!!! I loved everything about it. It's not the best place in the world, but it gets a 5 because of the décor and the whole ambience. It perfectly matched the food and service. It was like a nice little homey sit down family restaurant. The tables were nice and large and the whole menu looked amazing!! I loved everything! I was able to try some of my friend's food and it was all marvelous! I started out with a hot chocolate and it is literally the best hot chocolate I've ever had!! I loved it so much. So rich and creamy! I loved the whipped cream and the absolute thickness of the drink. It didn't taste like just sugar. It was fantastic!! Then I ordered a spicy meat dish. It had chicken and beef and veggies! Although it wasn't spicy, it was still amazing!! I loved it so much!! The sauce was like a really nice thick gravy and it complimented the vegetables and meat very well! I loved the vegetables because they were cooked well and there was a lot of them on the plate. Yum! I really want to go back here again! The portion was also huge too! Only downside, I got tired of the taste quickly. But I shared another dish with someone else so it worked out well! I tried her roasted chicken (skin on) with mushrooms in cream sauce. This was fantastic as well! Service was really nice and helpful as well!! I asked questions and the woman was so kind and she really helped me out a lot!! Also, they have free wifi! Yes! All in all, you have to come here. Also, make reservations! They fill up really quickly!

Robin D.

Yelp
Took more than 30 minutes to get service. We decided to leave before eating. Staff could see us waiting but wouldn't come over, it felt like they were avoiding work?
google avatar

Viktor P.

Yelp
Goulash shop and pulled beef burger was close to perfect. Good variation of beers and good pricing. Recommend this place highly even if it's a decent uphill until you arrive from centre..
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
Amazing food! Great Service! AWESOME ! You will be missing out if you do not come here during your time in Prague! Great food, great service, great beer and the prices are very reasonable! Looks like a tourist trap maybe at first but was by far the best thing we ate in Prague!
google avatar

Stephen P.

Yelp
Good Czech food at a good value, outstanding in-house beers, and an inviting environment. Despite the quantity of beer consumed in this country, choosing from 5 great beers on tap representing a range of styles is relatively rare. Much of the seating is long tables that several groups can share. Once you enter the courtyard, as far as I could tell, the "Bar" building only differs from the "Restaurant" in allowing smoking.
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
Wonderful brewery with some great beers at excellent prices. I had the Amber lager which is very malty - just the way I like it. My husband had the Christmas doppelbock which was good as well but I prefer the Malty-ness of the lager. Sit inside or outside. Service can be a little cold but great place to enjoy a beer!
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
Call to make reservations!!! I can't stress this enough! If you don't, you'll be standing around with others fighting for a table. Their restaurant isn't small but it's popularity has grown so large that it can't contain its masses. Their workers are overworked and stressed dealing with it. If you're lucky enough to snag a table, get the pork tenderloin. Ohhhhh boy!!! Was this tasty!!! Dipping bread in its sauces was a treat, too. I also ordered the pulled pork sandwich and pork hock. Both weren't bad at all, it was just mediocre compared to the park tenderloin. As an appetizer the cheese dip proved to be interesting and nothing more. Drum roll please.... order their house brewed beers! My husband loved them so much, he returned to buy a few cases to give away as gifts. I myself loathe the taste of beer, and this I loved! There was something just so refreshing and exhilarating about their beer. I admit I wasn't a fan of their chocolate beer but everything else was pretty good!
google avatar

Yelp
After a long hike mostly uphill from Old Town Prague, through the castle and up to the Strahov Monastery, it seems like any beer in the hot weather will taste good and the ones here are no exception. Don't mistaken this for the restaurant right next door or the signs pointing uphill towards a "beer garden", as it can be somewhat confusing. There is a brewery option indoors but also a nice indoor/outdoor area where they serve food as well. We walked in around noontime on a Monday and didn't have any problems finding a spot, although I can imagine it might be so with a larger group. I had the light seasonal beer and the boyfriend had the IPA, both of which are made on site. We had the brewery plate, which was a selection of meats, to accompany our beers. Overall excellent, great atmosphere, in a great location. A deserving reward after the trek to get there in the first place! If you're visiting the castle, I highly recommend walking the short distance to this brewery.
google avatar

Allison A.

Yelp
We loved our stop here. This was the best beer we had in Prague. We ordered the goulash soup, the onion soup and a cheese plate and all was excellent. I ordered the Amber and it was fragrant and crisp, not bitter. My BF had the IPA, it was also wonderfully floral and the bitterness was not overwhelming. English was no issue here and i definitely recommend this as a stop before or after Prague Castle.
google avatar

Patrick H.

Yelp
I've been here twice and loved both visits. It's located in an out of the way courtyard near the Prague Castle. It's a long walk up the hill but a nice scenic walk down towards the Carles Bridge. They are one of the few breweries in Prague that do an IPA and theirs is quite good! I also recommend their amber beer. For lunch I had salmon with a nice dill sauce and potatoes. It was really tasty and the rest of the food menu also looked good. Service has been fast and friendly on both of my visits and the servers speak pretty good English.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
Had the goose liver, wings, chicken soup, and a few beers here on a cold winter's day. Everything came promptly, and everything was A-Ok. The food is nothing special, and the beers were good. We stumbled upon this place while walking around the castle.
google avatar

Val L.

Yelp
Im sure this place must be even nicer during summer time. They have plenty of outdoor seating but it was too cold for me to staying outside. But if you are beer enthusiastic like me you will love the smell of yeast inside the place. Inside they have that bigger tables for sharing. I shared one with a lovely groups of American ladies. I saw some people here complaining about the table service but I believe it was because the staff cannot speak English well. Anyway, I was there for the beer. The beer was fabulous. The best one I had in Prague. I tried the beers they made there and they where all good, specially the stout type. I tried the food too: the goulash was perfect and I really enjoyed. The location is also good for a walk around the neighborhood. Monastery, parks and cafe shops around.
google avatar

Mikulas N.

Yelp
Nice environment, good food, quick services, but the home brewed beers are far from traditional Czech beers. However, well recommended stop during Prague sightseeing.
google avatar

RJ D.

Yelp
We stopped by the brewery after we walked up the hill to the Petrin Tower. It had been recommended by our guide on the Urban Adventures Beer Tour earlier in the week. There were 3 options to eat... outside, the brewery and in the beer hall. The brewery and outdoor are were full but we had no problem finding a seat at the share tables in the beer hall. The beer was some of the best we'd had while in Prague. The food was also really good. My wife had the goulash and I had a pork knuckle, both were really good. Overall, the prices were really low and everything was excellent. Would definitely recommend this to beer lovers or anyone looking for a meal after walking around Petrin Park
google avatar

Jason E.

Yelp
Great local beer. Had the amber lager. Great taste, goes very smooth. At the restaurant, ate outside and had the svickova (bread dumplings). My only problem was trying to stop myself from eating too fast lol. Very much worth the 10-15 minutes walk up the hill from Prague Castle to get this non-tourist spot. Plus great views of the city along the way. If I'm lucky enough to return to Prague one day, I would return here.
google avatar

Colin D.

Yelp
Good food, good beer--especially on a hot day. I came here because this was one of the few microbreweries I could find in Prague that people had good things to say about. The praise was warranted. They make more than just the usual Czech pilsners. I had a summer red ale and they have an IPA on-tap year-round. Their black lager was as good as a black lager can get, which still isn't as good as a porter or stout, but was very yummy. The food was probably slightly better than the beer overall. The schnitzel was fantastic and came with a perfectly passable potato salad. We also got the flamendr, which was a spicy--almost asian--dish of bell peppers and variety of meat. Definitely worth doing if you're up near Prague castle.
google avatar

Hae A.

Yelp
I'm not a beer drinker so I can't comment on the beer. The food was okay. Most of the entrees were decent. The goulash tastes better in the bread bowl compared to the regular bowl. The schnitzel was very good. A steak dish with mushrooms was also good. The Czech special that my hubby got was bad. It was a beef dish with bread dumpling, cream and cranberries. Avoid that one. The flavors just didn't go very well.
google avatar

Raquel V.

Yelp
Wow! Fantastic food beer and wine! We had goulash soup bowl: meaty and flavorful and pork ribs: tender and sauces rock! You can't go wrong with their red wine or beer! We walked across after the monastery which was also incredible
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
This place is rockin' good in every area. They've got about 5 different style beers, all brewed on site, on tap any any given time ( and that's pretty good for this area ). On top of that, they are all either really good or excellent. The Red Ale was the closest to an American style ale I had anywhere in Europe and the Amber lager had light/moderate maltiness with subtle hop bite, these are quite different than the typical Pilsner style usually found in the region. The Weissen, was straight ahead and good but not my fav. The Dark Lager was a nice surprise, dry with roasted notes and but still clean and crisp, much like the good Bock's in Germany. Last was, of course a Pils that I didn't try but got the thumbs up from those who tried it. And then there was the food! Probably some of the best food I've had at this level anywhere. If you want a fantastic surprise order the Flamendr, a very understated item that is simply described as " a spicy mixture of beef, pork and chicken". You get a bowl with small chunks of the aforementioned meats simmered with some onions and peppers in the most wonderful spicy brown sauce. I've never had anything like this anywhere in Western Europe. By the end of the meal everyone at the table was trying to sop up the rest of this sauce with anything they had left on their plates it was so unique. The rest of the table, also rated the food quite well, can't say enough , great food and really good beer :-)
google avatar

Aleksandar T.

Yelp
Really good Czech domestic cuisine. Ive tried two dishes and both were spectacular. Every recommendation if you're visiting Prague.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Holy beers Batman. This place had an excellent set of award winning beers. I highly enjoyed the amber and dark beer. Be warned the prices aren't the desired 35 ck tank beer you'll find at a true local place, but the quality of beer and food will make up for it. The goulash I had was delicious and served with the classic Czech potato dumplings. 3/3 Sukuri dark beers that go well with brownies, dense or cake-y
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I ate at while visiting Prague. The goulash is delicious and so flavorful. The fact that they brew their own beer makes this place the ultimate foodie destination. This place is perfect for a fulfilling dinner after walking around Prague castle all day, it's only a 15 minute walk from the castle!
google avatar

Simon B.

Yelp
Awesome Czech food for a very reasonable price. Sure, it is mainly, if not only, for tourists. But it has a certain authentic flair, nothing over the top. Just down to earth beer and food. Service is friendly, sometimes it can get a bit busy so give them some time (but your aren't in a rush anyway). Try the pork rips and you will love them forever.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
We came here for lunch. The beer brewed on premises was amazing! We had their two seasonal brews, and both were unique in their own ways ( mine had coconut notes, a first for me). We trybto eat light for lunch and only had a salad (green with soft ripened blue cheese and walnuts) which was fresh and delicious. Service was quick and courteous. Would definitely recommens this restaurant and brewery to anyone out next a heartbeat!
google avatar

Richard H.

Yelp
This is one of those few touristy places/restaurants where I would take friends from abroad. Mainly because of the enviroment and atmosphere. Otherwise ratio price/quality is not so good because you can get the same or even higher quality for less somewhere else. Their beers are slightly different from what you get in other pubs but they are still good. Meals are very good and service usually too. It´s a good place for bigger groups. It´s nice especially in summer when you can sit outside.
google avatar

Andy T.

Yelp
The view is amazing and the beer is good, but it is a bit of an overpriced tourist trap. It's worth going and stopping for a beer if you are over near the castle.
google avatar

Logan S.

Yelp
Go for the beer and stay 3 hours for the beer. In a beautiful setting of an old monastery. You can either get full beers or half tasters that are reasonably priced. Try the Amber Ale.
