"Fairy-Tale Library & Panoramic Views One of the most spectacular libraries in the world is at the Strahov Monastery in Prague . While it is a bit off the beaten path for most tourists, it really is a must-see. Over 125,000 classic and rare books fill floor-to-ceiling bookshelves at the monastery, which sits on a hill. There are two halls. The Theological Hall dates from the 1600s and features ornate, 18th-century Baroque frescoes on the ceiling. The Philosophical Hall (pictured) is truly spectacular - an 18th century creation built in the Classic style that features Greek frescoes and opulently carved wooden bookcases with golden accents. On the grounds of the monastery are also The Church of Saint Roch, an art gallery and a brewery with the best sweeping views of Prague - truly a wonderful, enchanting way to spend a beautiful afternoon."

Beautiful monastery with tons of art, historical and religious artifacts. Peaceful environment that almost inspired me to become a monk. Nice restaurant and beer hall in the vicinity.

Awesome in the classical sense of the word. Beautiful views and simple, yet striking and elegant buildings. A real sense of stability and permanence is present and you can tell that this place his been here a very long time.

Peaceful and awe-inspiring! Founded in 1143, Strahov Monastery is one of the oldest in the country. The Theological and Philosophical Halls in the library are simply magical—ornate ceilings and shelves lined with ancient books. Don’t miss the Cabinet of Curiosities! The view over Prague from here is also lovely. A serene escape with deep historical roots and breathtaking interiors.

The place was wonderful. Beautiful libraries and other curiosities. However, the personel was extremely rude. Be careful to book in advance if you wanna get a tour in the library.

Strahov monastery is nice. But it is difficult to find a ticket desk, while it is not indicated that there are automatic machines directly before the library. The library itself does not worth visiting, but together with gallery yes.

It’s a great place to visit but it is overrated and a bit of a let down. You can only see the library if you book a private tour otherwise only from the door. The church is impressive

Less crowded than the castle, better preserved exhibits and all around better experience, particularly for those who have already visited a fair bit of Europe. Great value for price, easy to access location.

The Gallery was beautiful, the monastery and library as well, but you pay so much to see the church behind a gate (you don’t need tickets for that in such case) and you see the library behind a door. You are only entering the gallery. This is very disappointing, there are much cheaper places where you can see bigger art collections.
