"Fairy-Tale Library & Panoramic Views One of the most spectacular libraries in the world is at the Strahov Monastery in Prague . While it is a bit off the beaten path for most tourists, it really is a must-see. Over 125,000 classic and rare books fill floor-to-ceiling bookshelves at the monastery, which sits on a hill. There are two halls. The Theological Hall dates from the 1600s and features ornate, 18th-century Baroque frescoes on the ceiling. The Philosophical Hall (pictured) is truly spectacular - an 18th century creation built in the Classic style that features Greek frescoes and opulently carved wooden bookcases with golden accents. On the grounds of the monastery are also The Church of Saint Roch, an art gallery and a brewery with the best sweeping views of Prague - truly a wonderful, enchanting way to spend a beautiful afternoon."

The monster had a great library, you can visit it's vestibule which is very nice (tickets are required) and also a gallery, basilica and a brewery. You can enter the basilica for free but you'll be able to see it only from the entrance. The brewery is a working restaurant with great beers and home made gin. The monster is surrounded by gardens and park.

One less touristic places to visit while in Prague. I was expecting the place to be full of people but it was actually the opposite. Which made it more relaxing and more enjoyable. You could take as many time as you want viewing everything without a huge queue behind you. I don't know if it's always like this or maybe i was just lucky.

The library is worth the visit! Although it may be too crowded on weekends and it's hard to have a quiet experience. I want to highlight the lady at the entrance who despite not speaking English used a translator in her cellphone to help me get the directions to the restrooms. Such a kind person!

The Strahov Monastery is a beautiful and atmospheric place to visit. The basilica is stunning, with breathtaking ceiling frescoes, richly decorated altars, and an overall sense of grandeur balanced by peace and calm. Walking through the church you feel surrounded by history, devotion, and incredible artistry. A must-see part of the monastery complex and a real highlight of Prague.

Meh----- Library is simply a room you're not allowed into. you can stand at the door (if there's room) and take photos - I've added some to save you bother (feel free to download them and pass them off as your own and save yourself some pennies). A long walk up a steep hill to see an ornate church (of which you will have passed many better on route), a library you can't go in and drink the same beer you can get at the bottom of the hill.

Loved seeing the monastery and Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The artwork inside the church is incredible. There is an awesome viewing point a short walk from the Basilica. I also got to hike the hill around the monastery, the Rozhledna. Getting to the top of the hill where the mast (city view structure) was an exhilarating experience and hiking back the opposite side was fun. I highly recommend this activity in Prague.

Just gorgeous and lovely to visit and pray. The absolute best views of Prague from here too. We had coffee/Radler (shandy) here too. Was a wedding on during our visit. Beautiful bride.

Very disappointing! The Library Tour - for 190CZK (or $9) - doesn’t even let you enter the library itself!! You are allowed only glimpse at the library through the open door (one door per room). While these two library rooms are gorgeous inside, the rest of the tour includes just another small room with some old books and a hall with cabinets where various items are at display. Those items at the display in the hall are pretty random and often have no any description around them (what is this you are looking at?). It is simply like a street flee market put in wooden cabinets! E.g., a broken arbalest, a ship model, cannon balls, small cannon, sea shells with drawings of clerics or saints, triboelecteic machine, some stones, large globes from 17th - 19th centuries, etc. Honestly, as a museum this place seems to be very small, overpriced and poorly organized!
