Straight 8 Estate

Dropped in last minute on my last day in New Zealand and I was so glad we did. Have been to a few wineries in South Island and this winery was by far the best one. Its a small winery but their wines are so much more better than those big wineries. We met James and Mary and James, who is the winemaker shares so much about what he does with the wines. Their wines are aromatic, has depth, and every wine varietal produced by them are of very good quality. The price is suprisingly very cheap, given the good quality of wine sold. We love the wine so much. Best ones that we have tasted during our trip. Thank you James for the passion in wine. Hope to see you again.

Really great service! I can tell how much the owner cares about her business, she takes pride in local wine and provided us with a lot of information. I recommend this to anyone when in New Zealand, fantastic experience!

We had a good wine tasting at the winery. Mary explained everything to us and showed us around. A plus was that we were able to camp in between of the wine fields with our motorhome. We definitely recommend the winery.

Hannah and I stumbled across Straight8 en-route to Christchurch and we were stoked that we did. James and Mary have a great winery and the only thing better than the wine is the stories that go with it. The personal and relaxed atmosphere really made the experience for us. Would highly recommend visiting and seeing for yourself.

Yummy wines in a fun place with great banter with owners Mary and James. We learnt lots about grape growing and wine making. Bella the dog was also very attentive. Well worth the visit.

Mary was the kindest person ever! She and James gave us a tour and a tasting. The wines were delicious and the vineyard dog, Bella, was adorable. Do yourselves a favor, skip the grocery store wine and come get it from here. We got some pinot gris and some of their rieslings.

We visited straight 8 yesterday on a wine tour for my birthday. Mary was a phenomenal host! She made our whole day with her fantastic wines and chat. We will be back for more fizzy flappers!
