I am not someone who typically writes reviews—positive or negative—but I feel compelled to share my experience due to the level of poor communication and lack of accountability I encountered at Straight Set Dental.
I initially began my Invisalign treatment at the Hewlett location, and the experience was extremely disappointing. After making a significant down payment, I repeatedly called to ask when my aligners would arrive so I could begin treatment. Each time, I was told the delay was due to mailing issues and that it was out of their control. After weeks of getting no clear answers, I requested to speak with a manager. Once she looked into the matter, she informed me that the order for my aligners had never been placed at all. She stated she would rush the order and arranged for me to continue treatment at the New Hyde Park location.
During that conversation, the manager also promised a Starbucks gift card and some form of financial consideration for the inconvenience, neither of which ever happened. While disappointing, I chose to let it go because my priority was simply moving forward with my treatment.
A few weeks later, I was informed that my insurance did not cover the treatment, meaning I would now be responsible for additional costs on top of what I was already paying. This was never disclosed when I signed paperwork or paid the down payment. In fact, I specifically asked whether my insurance would cover the treatment and was reassured that it would.
When I attempted to address this issue with a manager at the New Hyde Park location, the response I received was dismissive, beginning with, “Let me explain to you how dental insurance works.” While I acknowledge that I could have been more proactive by contacting my insurance directly, patients should be able to trust that the information provided by a medical office is accurate and transparent.
At this point, due to the amount of money already paid, I have no choice but to complete my treatment here. However, based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to consider alternative providers if possible.
