Strait on the Beach

Impeccable service from Izzy and the rest of the team for a double birthday lunch. They bent over backwards to accommodate us and all of our dietary requirements. The special salmon and mango salad was divine and the location and view are fabulous. We will make a point of stopping in everything we visit Cairns in the future.

This is a nice spot right on the beach. The best part about this place is the views and atmosphere. The day we visited the staff were friendly. I ordered a pot of tea with Scones, jam and cream. The jam seemed to be homemade. Unfortunately the jam served on the scones had a big lump of something. I wasn't sure what it was, it wasn't sweet. So that was rather off putting. The cream was the shaker variety from a can and that is always disappointing on scones. We enjoyed the breeze and views

The food was great but the view from the patio is worth coming. I could have sat here with this view all day.

Nice food and fast service but the staff could work on being a bit friendlier. Being located literally straight on the beach, the views really can’t get any better. Timber dining, undercover shade and airflow with fans makes it an enjoyable little spot to eat, drink and hang out. Playground within a stones through is also a bonus for the parents!

We just had an awesome breakfast in this really pretty little cafe right on Holloways Beach. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend a visit here.

Quiant little beach food spot. I got a burger and a beer and enjoyed the views. Pretty quiet area and not too many people made the atmosphere really nice.

This is another of fnq's treasures. Don't worry about the hussle of Cairns, nor the club at Trinity or even the cafe's on the windy strip of Palm Cove. This place has a charm of its own - perfect for a cold beer and seafood dish overlooking the coral sea.

Strait on the beach is right where it is, right on the beach front. The vibes and atmosphere here are second to none in Holloways Beach as the beach is your view. The beers, wine or whatever you drink are nice and cold. The food is amazing and very well made from the cooks/chef! The service is great and always feel welcomed here. Good stuff! 💪

Convenient to the accomodation. Fish and 2x orders of chips with a drink... 'bargain' at $17. Wouldn't make it a habitual eating spot... much better food options in downtown Cairns. Beach is not really much to look at or swim... especially during stinger season.

This place is absolutely horrible! When my boyfriend and I arrived we ordered and were told what the special was. It sounded good so i just ordered a small appetizer to tide me over until the special was available... which never ended up happening. We were told after ordering and paying that we couldn't sit in any of the reserved tables. There were two table not reserved so we sat at one of them. While waiting for our food we were overwhelmed with green ants crawling on the table and our bodies. We moved to the only other unreserved table. Our food was delivered, which was awful. The cheese on the nachos was limited and not even melted. While we ate our subpar food we were told that our table was now reserved but "we could finish our food and go". Needless to say the entire experience was terrible and we will NEVER be going back.

We love the beach breezes and regularly visit Strait on the Beach. We sit with the sand between our toes watching our kids play metres from our seat. Friday nights are fun, Saturday morning's chilled and we regularly have our business meetings there. We recommend the location for quirky furniture and friendly staff. Our favourite dishes are the Eggs Benedict, Calamari Salad and Scones with homemade paw paw jam.

Make sure when you order a 'burger' you ask whether it comes with a patty or not. The 'Egg Bacon Burger', doesn't!

Beautiful spot right on the beach - every table and chair individually carved, Kids had a big banana mango smoothie and scones with mango jam and cream. Grown ups had good grilled mushrooms on toast (white bread). Coffee a bit weak and a bit too hot.

Really fun place to eat. The food is amazing and sevice is good too. I love this place.
