Ah, Strandbad Mythenquai. How civilized, to stroll its generous grounds now that the gates are open—one can almost hear the gentle lapping of the lake, the laughter of children, the distant sizzle of a grill. When the entrance fee is required, the space becomes positively expansive, as if designed for a more discerning palate, one that appreciates room to breathe, to observe, to savor.
Yet, I confess, the local “bad culture” eludes me—perhaps my tastes are not yet acclimatized to Zurich’s particular flavor of leisure. Still, the sand is soft, the water inviting, and the people-watching exquisite. Four stars, with a hint of anticipation for the day I truly acquire the .. taste :)
