The heated pool / kids pool is very cold and my 4 year old was shivering after using it. So don’t book this hotel with the idea of using the pool as a family. The playground is good however a little run down. Otherwise the staff were very nice, rooms large and modern and the breakfast was ok.

The rooms are a bit run down and quaint. I would say it’s low value compared to what they charge per night. I would stress the staff was very friendly.

This is a very family-friendly hotel in the Balka Strand area, with a pool and nice facilities for kids. I only had one night at the property, booked rather last minute via booking.com which had availability when the hotel's own website showed no rooms available.||||The hotel is not very modern - and the decor, both in the room and elsewhere, is pretty old-fashioned. But it's very clean and it has a fairly high standard, and a very reasonable room rate. ||||I had dinner at the restaurant onsite and enjoyed their 3-course menu which apparently varies from day to day. They also have an ala-carte menu, but I received the 3-course dinner automatically, which was overall decent. ||||The breakfast buffet was pretty impressive with a nice, big selection.||||The hotel is a short walk to the beach, although a bit of a longer walk to the nearest city.||||Note that check out is already at 10 instead of the usual 12 noon.||||Overall a fairly good stay!

We spent 5 nights at the Balka Sobad and we enjoyed it very much and would return there.||It needs to be remembered that this is a 3 star beach hotel not a 5 star city one.||||The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful and all have huge smiles all day long.||||The breakfasts are rather bland and samey - there's no hot food just meats, cheeses, cereals, jams, yoghourts etc and boiled eggs. There were quite a few flies hovering about at breakfast.||||We ate in the hotel one night, the Sunday buffet. It was ok, not a lot of choice at all and the knives need replacing for some that can cut meat.||We didn't eat again at the hotel as the choice was very limited with set menus and no a la carte. We went and ate mainly in Snogebaek.||||The rooms were a bit tired and dated but perfectly comfortable and adequate. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was sufficient space and the TV was good quality. I liked the balcony with decent chairs and a clothes airer.||||The bathroom was rather small with hideous orange/mustard decor - but clean and acceptable. There is no shower tray so the floor gets extremely wet.||||The towels were rather hard and had clearly been washed many times over the years and are due replacing. The rooms need decorating. ||||Location is good very close to Balka beach and the gardens and pool area are delightful. I particularly liked the swimming pool.||||Most guests appeared to be German and elderly and were in bed early at nights. Some were on a coach tour.||||We will definitely return to Bornholm as we fell in love with the island. I would certainly stay at Balka Sobad again despite there being no restaurants (other than the Balka Strand hotel) within reasonable walking distance. Car (or bicycle) hire is really essential although there's a good bus service.

We stayed there in the beginning of May and enjoyed it very much. The staff in the reception were most helpful. We had a room at ground floor, it was clean with good beds, small kitchenett, fridge etc. for cooking. You could sit outdoor, where there were a couple of chairs and a round table, nice in the evening or in the morning for a coffe or a drink.||Good and rich breakfast buffé, (although the eggs were to loose). A short walk, 75 meters, and you were on the beach. No swimming in the sea, this time of the year.||It is possible to rent bicycles, which we did for 75 Dkr/day, and there is a nice way to Nexö and further to Svaneke, back and forth ca. 30 km. We were very pleased with our stay!

We were attending the Snogebæk Festival and chose to stay at this hotel; which was quite okay. It`s not a 5* hotel. However; the hotel area was cosy and nice. For the fit ones; the walk into the center of Snogebæk is about 20 minutes; which for some people might be a little to far. ||The breakfast is okay; but not much more. I was a little disappointed that they took away the fruit a few minutes before the breakfast was over; though this might have been an exception. ||They have two pools; one for grown ups and one child-proof. They also have a playground for the kids; so I believe this is an okay place for families to visit. ||The first evening we were about to cook dinner in our room when the stove suddenly stopped working. We alerted the reception, though it took about an hour before it was fixed; and we had to reheat some of the food. Maybe they should have offerered some kind of compensation here....

The Balka Søbad is mainly a tour bus hotel. We seemed to be among the few guests who were not over the age of 60 and not on a package holiday.||On the plus side, it is in a good location a short walk from the lovely Balka beach. The hotel also gets customer service right; the welcome was warm, and the team really went out of their way to help us, for example making us a special breakfast when we had overslept and missed the buffet. The breakfasts were good too - lots of choice, fresh fruit and delicious breads.||However, none of this completely compensates for the fact that the hotel is dated, tired, and badly in need of investment. We had the impression that this place is being run on a shoestring.||We were disappointed to discover that the family rooms consisted of 2 narrow bedrooms, each containing 2 single beds. They were very clean, but quite dated and shabby. ||The swimming pools are very nice, but due to lack of staff aren't cleaned often enough, so we paddled among leaves and dead bees in the toddler pool. The best example of the condition of the hotel was the tennis court, which was eerily derelict, with tree roots pushing up through the all-weather surface.||If the prices reflected the condition of the hotel, this hotel would still have earned a good recommendation from us; it does have its merits. However, it was actually the most expensive stay of our trip and definitely not the best value for money. Worth considering if you can get a great deal, otherwise very overpriced for what it is.

The staff are nice, the room is clean and the bathroom looks newly renovated. The beach is just two minutes away from the hotel, and the view is superb! We really enjoyed our stay there.
