Strandlyst - Hotel

My wife and I visited Restaurant Strandlyst in June on a beautiful summer evening. Stephanie our hostess - gave us a warm welcome and a great table outside overlooking the pool and green fields. I had read a review in Børsen Weekend about Chef Mia Christiansen so our expectations were high. After a glass of champagne we ordered a three course menu with turbot as main dish. Everything was perfect. The beautiful and perfect cooked turbot was decorated with colorful, small flowers and accompanied by a sauce made with roasted sunflower seeds and beer. It was Outstanding- the best turbot ever. Chef Mia came and said hello and we complemented her cooking. The team at Strandlyst, the setting and the food was so good that we reserved a table for the next evening and went back and had the same menu. Again perfect.|Both evenings were outstanding and we will be back 😀 We are foodies and have travelled all over the world and dined at many Michelin restaurants and five star hotels - but this experience was unique and very, very good. During vacation I was there two times at the restaurant, first time was marvellous, second time (maybe because it was fully booked) the kitchen and staff were a little less aware of the needs of the guests. I did not mind at all as the food still was excellent, the menu worth its price and the wines I tried also of good quality. Overall recommended to go there at least once when on samso. :)

Excellent service and value for money! We stayed there with our baby and they were very accommodating towards our needs. The spa was a nice experience and the food was great using local ingredients. The general design and use of furniture is high end. Highly recommended

Strandlyst on Samsø was the culminating experience of my week in Denmark. I stayed here for two nights in early September 2015. The grounds and rooms are so beautiful and peaceful - the entire sprawling place has been created with love and intention. The beach is at your doorstep and the village of Ballen is a comfortable walk, short bike ride, or quick drive away. There are some bikes to borrow for free with which you can easily cover half the island in a morning or just do a relax pedal. The proprietor, Claus, is a welcoming and engaging character. The food from Jacob, a world class chef, is seasonal, local, beautiful, and delicious. From the pools to the outdoor showers, and from the restful ambiance to the wood fired sauna, there is something for everyone at Strandlyst. Samsø is such a special place!
