This Metro station has irregular gate hours during night times. Check before you go at nights, or just walk to St Denis like the Parisians do. Once you get out of the Metro station and go on to the streets it's a whole new world between day and night. Day time; this area on both side of Rue de Faubourg St Denis and Blvd de Sebastopol is a populated, and concentrated; packed with Middle East, Pakistani, Indians, and many Africans that patronize their own cultural-related stores, restaurants, nail/hair, and other services. They usually do not interact with tourists since the tourists are not the main "target" buyers/shoppers. A safe neighborhood with lots delicious and reasonable priced ethnic restaurants around here. You should always keep your eyes on your valuable belongings even this is a safe neighborhood, generally speaking. As soon as the sun goes down, most of the ethic groups just disappeared and the Rue de St Denis is over filled with mostly local whites from late 20s to late 30 years olds show up after work to mingle with friends and coworkers. They packed the dark tiny bars and restaurants inside and out, spilled over onto the pedestrian side walks and into the tiny Rue de St Denis. Just to be clear, at night on Blvd de Sebastopol is a stinky, pee over flow street, with lots homeless unfortunates. Don't step into pee puddles.
